Chapter 1. Hoofing it.
Trixie awoke stiff and groggy from inside the lean-to she rolled out of bed and stepped outside. She looked up at a bright sunrise in Equestria. The sun had just finished cresting the mountains, and light dew had formed on the grass and the morning chill was still fresh. Trixie shivered as she looked to the trail that lead past Rambling Rock Ridge to Canterlot. A wide expanse of grass was to the left, and to the right the Everfree Forest loomed.
The creek that ran near the rocky and dusty trail was bubbling. The red and blue flowers were in bloom with a sweet smell in the air. She had a fairly old and tattered pair of saddlebags with her things. She dressed herself with her hat and cape and packed up camp and moved along trying not to think about the Everfree Forest. Instead she wanted to think about her past “misfortunes” as Trixie would call them.
It had been quite a long time since her second visit to Ponyville. Where in, Twilight Sparkle had once again... beat Trixie. Not that she didn't deserve to be, she simply wanted to put her life in perspective. She pulled her cape around her to fight off the morning chill.
'It was my fault that I got into this mess' She reminded herself. Still miffed at the fact that Twilight was much better at magic than Trixie. She remembered 'The Golden Rule, Treat others as you wish to be treated.' Trixie rehearsed it in her mind. Chiding herself if she wanted to be treated like 'The Great and Powerful Trixie' again shes' going to have to treat others better.
Trixie wasn't going to go through Ponyville. She felt that she would be run out of town, even though she had made a small apology to Twilight before leaving. Not many ponies would like to see her again, at least not now. For the past few months, she had been in Dodge Junction. Where she had been working as a bar tender. To which, most of the patrons were the stallions who lived there. The town was rustic, dusty, and not as civilized, as Trixie wanted it to be. Most were rude, or very ill tempered to her, and she was treated rather badly by her boss. It had been a constant reminder that she had messed things up pretty bad.
The Ursa Minor, and The Alicorn Amulet incidents, were still fresh in her mind. As if she just lived the same moment over again.
Trixie, plagued by nightmares about how she was nothing, a no-pony.
Every night, sleeping in the loft of the bar. The loft itself wasn't clean. No matter how many times Trixie cleaned it. In the back corner, was a simple, and uncomfortable straw bed. Trixie hadn't had a decent nights sleep in a long time. Trixie had a lot of time to think about what she had done. She had given up on revenge, or even getting even with Twilight. She knew now that no matter what, she would never win against her, and it would be a bad idea to try. Only coming to find out after leaving Ponyville the second time. That Twilight was a bearer of an Element of Harmony, and had saved the world that she lived in from Nightmare Moon, and more over, she was now a Princess. Trixie didn't know, that the ponies that she challenged, and humiliated were also bearers of the Elements of Harmony.
“Most of the ponies in Dodge Junction were nice enough.” Trixie said, trying to be nicer for her own sake, and struggling.
“Nice if you like to be ignored!” Trixie said out loud to herself. She also, wanted so badly for passer by ponies not to throw rotten tomatoes at her any more. Most ponies wouldn't even look her in the eyes, much less talk to her. Due to her actions against the citizens of Ponyville. Most ponies knew her, and what she had done. The ponies that would speak to her, seemed more like giving her a piece of their minds. Told her that she was a fraud, and she would be better off in a dungeon.
Trixie, now well on her way to Canterlot.
Where the annual magic competition to gain instant admittances to Canterlot's Academy for gifted unicorns was held. There Trixie planed to make a new name for herself, and to make everypony see that she wasn't a talentless has-been pony. Trixie came upon the valley that skirted Rambling Rock Ridge, and knew to avoid the valley due to the Diamond Dogs. Trixie knew about them from stories of treasure hunting ponies, getting snatched up to do the diamond dogs work for them. Knowing this, she decided going around would be the best plan.
“Trixie mustn't be late for the show.” Trixie said with a gleam in her eye. Knowing full well that most her magic would blow the crowd away. That, and she had been practicing a lot since she left Ponyville. New spells abound in her mind. She had found a book in the loft of the bar. Dusty, and old. It looked like it hadn't been touched in a thousand years, or even longer. It contained show spells, like the ones that Trixie used, but were far more advanced, and elaborate.
“Who ever wrote this is a genius.” Trixie said when she found the book.
Some of the spells she knew already, but in the latter pages of the book. In a chapter that read. 'Advanced show magic for unicorns.' Trixie had read, learned, and practiced the magic. She was confident that she would do the best of ever pony in the entire competition. She thought to herself about how she would win, and set all her humiliations behind. She walked around Rambling Rock Ridge. In front of her lay a tree. Knocked over by the wind no doubt. Trixie walked around it, and headed along the path. Trixie now following the railway tracks to Canterlot. She had passed the valley where the diamond dogs lived about half a mile back, without incident. It was now midday. The walk up the path that ran alongside the railway took longer than she had anticipated. She stopped to rest for a moment beneath a tree. Taking a canteen out of her saddlebag, and took a long deserved drink of fresh water. Her coat now matted with a hardly noticeable sheen of sweat. She panted lightly looking up towards the tower of Canterlot.
“What a climb!” Trixie protested in every sense of the word climb. She had not wanted to make her way by hoof, but not having enough bits for the train, and the entrance fee. Would have been very embarrassing to Trixie, so she decided to hoof it. The climb to Canterlot was relatively long, but Trixie was determined to go. She didn't want to remain as she was. She had lived lowly, dirty, and hungry for too long. She remembered back to when she was a traveling show pony. Town, to town preforming, making enough money to get her own wagon , and enough live quite well, with everything she needed. Until the Ursa minor crushed what she had in her little carriage. 'To have that life back.' She thought to herself. She climbed the trail along the railway tracks to Canterlot.
Twilight was in the Library when Spike, burped a burst of green flame.
“A letter from The Princess!” Twilight beamed, grabbing the letter telekineticly.
“What's it say?” Spike asked, rushing to Twilight's side.
'Dear Princess Twilight Sparkle.
You, and your friends, are here by cordially invited to this years magic competition.
As a last minuet request, Twilight will you also take the place of one of the judges who, seems to have gotten quite ill?
Princess Celestia.'
“Hu?” Twilight asked, levitating the tickets.
“What does she mean, judge?” Asked Spike.
“You know, to determine the winner of the competition Spike.”
“Oh,” he said, taking the tickets.
“Checklist?” Spike asked, Twilight, knowing the answer.
“Yes, and also take a letter Spike” Twilight said, starting in.
“ Dear Princess Celestia.
It would be a pleasure. I will be there as soon as I can.
Princess Twilight Sparkle.”
“Send it Spike” Twilight said.
“Sent.” said Spike, getting ready for the checklist that, Twilight would be making any second.
“Good. Now we will need my saddlebags, and oh, my book 'How to judge a competition'.
We need to inform the girls. That reminds me, we need to go to Sugar cube corner, and help Pinky make muffins before we leave.”
Twilight, commencing her tasks at once. Getting her saddlebags packed, reading the book she mentioned.
Spike helping, and checking the things off the checklist. Twilight rushed around, gathering things she might need at the competition. A half an hour passed, they were out the door of the library, and on their way to Sugar Cube Corner, to help Pinky make muffins. Twilight informed her of the upcoming event in Canterlot. Pinky being her usual self bounced up, and down.
“Oh how exciting, are you excited? because I have never been to a magic competition. Have you?” Pinky asked Twilight.
“No, and this is exciting. Maybe I can finally have a moment with The Princess” said Twilight.
After informing her friends of the upcoming event, taking place later that night. She, and her friends boarded the train to Canterlot. Rarity was excited, more so than Twilight would have thought. The whistle blew, and the train was on its way.

Chapter 2 showing off.
Trixie arrived at the front gates of The Canterlot Gardens.
The garden itself was a large, open space, it smelled of fresh cut grass, flowers, and honeysuckle. A temporary stage had been set up. The cobblestones the other ponies walked upon, clopped with a light echo against the stone walls surrounding the gardens. Trixie approached the gates. To the left of the gates, stood the contestant sign up table. Trixie trotted over, hearing bees buzzing, and birds chirping. The day was very pleasant. Trixie got in line, and waited. When it was her turn to pay the fee, and be put on the preforming roster, Trixie spoke up with her usual show mare attitude.
“I am The Great and Powerful Trixie!.. Did you get that?” Trixie said, with a air of pride.
“Yes, and that will be thirty bits.” The booths attendant said flatly.
Trixie levitated her coin purse from her saddlebags, and paid, receiving a name tag, with 'Trixie' written on it. Trixie looked at how much she had left.
“Only fifteen bits left!?” She said to herself in amazement. She knew she had more than that.
'They must have fallen out of Trixie's saddlebags.' She thought to herself.
“Oh, and thank you.” Trixie said, reminding herself that she was to be nicer.
“Your welcome” replied the attendant.
Trixie immediately went backstage, and looked for a dressing room.
There was only a bathroom with a temporary sign, 'Dressing room' Trixie went into the bathroom, it was at least clean, but small. She cleaned herself of the sweat that had matted her coat. After ten minuets, she was presentable again. She walked out to see a line of unicorns standing, and waiting impatiently. Trixie moved with her normal arrogance. She found a mirror, out of the way. She stood in the corner looking into the mirror. Critiquing herself from every prospective, to make ready for the crowd that was surely going to heckle her at every turn. Trixie was prepared for it. 'Trixie will just let her magic do the talking.' Trixie thought to herself, going through the act in her mind.

Twilight, and her friends disembarked from the train.
“Uh. Need help Applejack?” Twilight asked, Applejack, pulling her apple cart from one of the freight cars of the train.
“Nope. Ah am a working pony Twi, and don't you forget it.” Applejack replied, pulling the cart out, and trotting up to the group.
“It's not every day Ah get to sell apples in Canterlot.” Applejack said, with her cart following her.
“Are the wounder bolts are going to be here?” Asked Rainbow dash, flying around, looking intently.
“Good question, Rainbow” replied Twilight.
“Oh my, I don't remember seeing the garden like this. I hope none of the animals were forced out of their homes.” Fluttershy said, considerately.
“I am sure all the animals were told long before the event” replied Twilight, leading the girls to the garden, and to The Princess, who stood near the entrance, waiting for Twilight.
“Hello Princess Twilight Sparkle.” Said Princess Celestia with a smile.
“Ready for the show?” she asked, Twilight.
Twilight raced to her side, and gave a small bow, and a quick nuzzle. Feeling a certain friendly joy at getting to see her long time mentor, and friend.
“Oh yes, I read all about being a competition judge, on the way here.” Twilight said, proudly levitating up the book 'How to judge a competition' Everyone in the group gave a chuckle.
“Whats so funny?” asked Twilight, with a confused look.
“Nothing, Egghead... hahaha!” laughed Rainbow dash.
“Not an egghead” Said Twilight, with a flat tone.
“Girls please!” Pleaded Rarity.
“This is no time to fight” Fluttershy timidly begged.
“Sorry, Twilight” Rainbow dash apologized.
“I accept your apology” Twilight replied, with a smile towards her friend.
“So you will take the place of Apple Polish, Twilight?” Celestia asked her new Princess counterpart.
“Of course Princess. I have never been a judge, and its a good way to build my decision making skills.” Twilight said, proud of her reasoning behind her decision.
After ten minuets of catching up, and otherwise having a nice chat. Princess Celestia reminded them, the show would start soon. The group went to their respective spots. Twilight in the judges booth, and the rest in the crowd. That had suddenly come into perspective. Applejack opened her apple booth, immediately making three bits. Pinky jumped up, and down, ecstatic about the upcoming entertainment. Rainbow dash looked for the Wounder bolts to no avail. Rarity sat, and waited to see the other ponies preforming, hoping that it would inspire a new dress line. Fluttershy sat silently, as most of the time she does in a public place. Spike went to the nearest snack stand to get some sweets, and popcorn to eat.

The announcer trotted onto the stage. “The competition will start soon.” the announcer said, trotting back off stage.
Trixie, was one of the last of the list, so she had time to prepare. Trixie was running everything over again in her mind.
'Okay Trixie. This is your moment to redeem yourself.' she said in her mind. She calmed herself and prepared for her act to be called up.
The show started with a young filly unicorn. She did some high level telekinesis, and some illusion spells. The filly was pretty disappointed in herself, for not being able to preform the flying spell she was trying so hard to do before the competition started. A last minuet practice, but to no avail. The next was a young mare, who did the same high level telekinesis, but for her coupe de gras, she used a teleportation spell, stunning the crowd by telaporting on top of a statue behind the crowd. Then telaporting back to the stage, with a added telaportie from the crowd. Proud of her talent she trotted off stage. The show went on, most unicorns not having any really advanced spell to show. Most unicorns aren't gifted with extreme, or gratuitous amounts of magic to begin with. Most magic is learned over many years. Most of the ponies preforming, were much younger than Trixie. She felt bad about being in the competition. If she won, would that also show that she was just a showoff picking on fillies? Trixie dispelled the notion from her mind. This was her chance to show everyone that she wasn't, a washed up, one trick pony, with a big ego. Moreover she was not really out to show up everyone, but to show how hard she worked.
Trixie watched the acts. Being on the last on the list she would be able to know what she had to do to beat the others. Trixie looking too the judges booth but only seeing darkness, due to the stage lights.
“Next is, The Great and Powerful Trixie!” the announcer said, with a little panache.
“Wait a minuet!?” Asked Rainbow dash.
“Is it really her?” muttered Twilight.
Trixie magically appeared on stage, with a plume of smoke, and a bang of fireworks.
Everypony booed, and muttered 'Oh not her again.' Trixie didn't say a word. She took off her hat, and let her horn glow brightly with her blue magic aura fixing into a point at the tip of her horn. She expanded this point of magic into a huge black ball, laying it down over the crowd making some flinch.
“As some know of Trixie's debacles in Ponyville.”
She opened the big black ball of magic into the illusion to show a memory of her making a complete foal of herself, with the Alicorn amulet. She next showed a illusion of the Everfree forest. The crowd gasped, the illusion was almost too real for most ponies comfort. Any pony that knew of, or had been to the forest for one reason, or another were shocked at the realism of her illusion.
“Listen as The Great and Powerful Trixie tells a tale.” Trixie said, lifting her head, and producing a illusion of herself walking in the Everfree forest.
“Trixie left, and got lost in the Everfree forest. Where Trixie came face to face with, a Dragon.!”
Trixie said, with flair, and her pride as a show mare. If its one thing Trixie is good at, its telling stories. Trixie showed the almost perfect illusion of her walking through the forest, and bumping into the Dragon. The Dragon roared at her, becoming angry at her for intruding.
“Trixie ran for her life from the now angry, bloodthirsty Dragon!” Trixie telling the crowd that winced at the idea of making a Dragon mad at them. The illusion followed Trixie, as she ran from the Dragon blindly into a cave. Where Trixie darkened the illusion for the effect of suspense.
“Trixie was safe. Or was she?” Trixie, hoping for a little suspenseful, edge of the seat part in her story. The illusion of Trixie made a light with her horn, revealing an Ursa minor.
“Trixie ran form the Ursa minor, it became angry with Trixie for waking it!” Trixie added to the already frightening story.
The crowed stayed hush. Listening intently, hanging on every word. Most forgetting that Trixie was who she was. Trixie had practiced another spell that would allow the audience to share her emotions, as she was chased by the Ursa minor. Trixie produced this spell, the crowd gasped in fright. Trixie followed the illusion of her running out of the cave, with another narration of the story.
“As Trixie made it out of the cave. The Dragon awaited her!”
She made the illusion of the Dragon, swipe a huge claw at her . It missed by inches, but the rocks it smashed didn't. The rocks tumbling down in a land slide of boulders. She showed the crowd, a sharp jagged rock falling, and smashing into Trixie's right shoulder, cutting it quite deep. The crowd all gasped, and felt the pain in their shoulders, and the fear of death, that Trixie remembered all too well. Even Princesses Twilight, and Celestia gasped, feeling the fear. Fluttershy coward under her chair.
Rarity almost fainted, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash, were not convinced, still the spell made them flinch.
“Then, Trixie had to escape the Ursa, and the Dragon, injured!”
She said moving the illusion to a panic stricken Trixie, telaporting to another place in the Everfree forest. Only to meat a manticore. Trixie's illusion hastily telaported again, this time she was safe, for the time being.
“Trixie was now, even more lost.” Trixie showed the illusion of her searching for a way out. The illusion showed Trixie, limping, hurt rather badly. The crowd feeling what utter hopelessness she had felt at the time. Trixie moved the illusion to her, finding a way out, finding three ponies, on there way to Dodge junction. Trixie showed them helping her. Bandaging her, and dragging her on a stretcher to Dodge junction, where she was safe.
“Trixie was safe, but her hardships started again.” Trixie said, she showed the crowd the bar where she would latter work, and what she put up with. Ponies throwing rotten fruit at her, and yelling at her. Until she came tonight, to Canterlot where she ended the story, and dispelled the illusion, and emotion spells. A pause came over everypony. Even Rainbow dash, who had no small amount of dislike for the blue show mare.
“Your under arrest!”-said a guard, sternly - “on the charges of, attempted enslavement of Ponyville, trespassing, assault, and illegal spell use” he said, moving closer, expecting Trixie to run.
“But, Trixie learned that spell from a book. It didn't say it was illegal?”she said, in protest.
“That doesn't excuse you!” Said the guard, with a annoyed look.
Trixie lowered her head, and walked down off the stage, where the guard was ready, with hoof cuffs and, a anti-magic horn cuff for the unicorn. Trixie had tears in her eyes, feeling the eyes of the crowed looking at her with disappointed, and disproving feeling emanating from them, all directed at her.
“Wait!!” Exclaimed Fluttershy, unusually out of character. Speaking without her usual timid voice. Twilight, not believing that Fluttershy was the first one to speak up.
“What spell was illegal?” Asked Fluttershy, back to her timid nature.
“The emotion controlling spell” replied the guard.
“Sir, excuse me, but seeing everything first hoof, I believe she has changed,”- Twilight interjected, trotting out of the judges booth, over to the guard, and Trixie.-“, and that was not an emotion controlling spell.”
“What do you mean? I know what I saw, and felt!” exclaimed the guard
“But that wasn't a emotion control spell” said Twilight, with her usual smug ' I know everything' look.- “,and hasn't the statute expired?” Twilight added.
“Oh my, Princess Sparkle, its you.” the guard bowed, noticing that it was The Princess.
“The spell she used was a emotion sharing spell. Which is not illegal” said Twilight,
the guard looked to the Princess then to Trixie.
“I am so sorry, your Majesty.” The guard now groveling.
“I, Princess Twilight Sparkle, hereby grant Trixie, a royal pardon for crimes committed in the past” Twilight said, not quite as confident that it was a good idea to do that, but feeling almost obligated to do so. She knew that Trixie had broken the law, but no one in Ponyville had actually filed a report, because of that Trixie wasn't charged formally, and because the statute was only Two months to officially report any crime, had expired, even if Twilight would have let her get arrested. Trixie would not have been imprisoned. Twilight wanted Trixie to win, even if she was a braggart, she had been through enough.
“Alright, but this is a warning” Said the guard, in a flat tone at Trixie. Bowing again, and hurrying off, before he could be punished for his outburst. Trixie looked shocked, almost flabbergasted at the way Twilight Sparkle. The pony she had tried more than once to over shadow, and failed, had stood up for her, and she was a Princess. Trixie couldn't, wouldn't, and didn't want to accept the fact that, Twilight Sparkle was now a Alicorn. Before Trixie could ask, or even think, came a familiar voice.
“Your lying Trixie!” Spouted Rainbow dash, she flew over, and pointed a hoof at her.
“Trixie is not lying!” Trixie said, she lifted her cape to reveal her scar, from the stone that fell, and cut her. Rainbow dash gasped, at the large scar on Trixie's shoulder. Fluttershys eyes got wide, and, The rest just looked at her.
“What happened to you Trixie?” Asked Twilight, in a worried voice. Now actually worried.
“You saw Trixie's illusion, did you not.” asked Trixie, starting to get a small amount of her arrogance back.
“Well yes, but did that really happen?” Twilight asked, concerned about Trixie.
“Yes. It did!” Trixie said, with a huff, making Twilight back away a little.
“My word” gasped Rarity.
“Oh, my” Fluttershy said timidly.
“Hey! You can't talk to my friends that way” Rainbow Dash said, getting in Trixie's face.
“Trixie doesn't have to take this!” Trixie retorted to Rainbow Dash's comment.
“Now if you will excuse Trixie Princess. She needs to find out who won, so Trixie can go to Canterlot magic academy.” Trixie said, with the arrogance that she had already won. Mentally chastising herself for being so rude to a princes. Trixie knew, that first place received a thousand bits, and a scholarship to Canterlot's Academy for gifted unicorns. The girls watched Trixie walk backstage. Twilight didn't say a word, and walked back to the judges booth.
“Applejack. Can you believe her?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“The nerve of that pony ah swear” Replied Applejack.
“That girls. Is the most infuriating pony, I have ever met” Rarity said, joining in with the others.
“I don't know. She seems really sad to me” Pinky said, never one to see any pony sad. She looked to the others, and tilted her head.
“Don't you think she would be happier, if she had a friend?” Pinky asked, making her friends think hard.
“Well yeah, Ah guess.” Applejack said, tapping the ground.
“But, that pony tried to enslave Ponyville, with that amulet, thing.” Applejack said, trying to hold her conviction about Trixie.
“Well I, for one believe Twilight, when she said the Alicorn Amulet corrupted the user.” added Rarity.
Applejack rolled her eyes, and sighed. "Fine.. One last chance. That's all ah am given her.”
Twilight's group of friends, went back into the crowd. Twilight, sat in her chair, and sighed.
“Do you know that mare?” Celestia asked.
“Yes... Well no.... Kinda.” Replied Twilight, nervously.
“She is quite good with magic, don't you think?” Celestia asked, looking at Twilight for a reaction.
“Yes. Well now she is.” Said Twilight, she looked at her score card.
“Is everything alright?” Celestia asked Twilight.
“Yes it is Princess. No need to worry.” Twilight replied, thinking that she shouldn't be the judge of Trixie's performance.
Then she remembered, judges should act as though they don't know any pony preforming. Twilight took a deep breath, and let it out. Putting everything that Trixie had done behind her, and out of her mind. Twilight made her judgment on her performance, not her personality, or what she had done before. Even though being on the receiving end of Trixie twice before, made it hard not to think of her past.

The announcer called all the acts to the stage. The acts lined up, Trixie was waiting in the back. Behind everypony. Where no one could see her. She stood, and waited. Thinking, that she wouldn't win, and she would continue to be a no pony, her ears pinned.
“And this years winner is.......” The announcer paused, looking to the judges. The judges replied with a quick nod, to assure the announcer the score card was right.
“The Great and Powerful Trixie!” The announcer said, with a flourish. Trixie was surprised by this. She trotted up to the front of the stage. Where Celestia herself, was giving the award. Trixie bowed, and looked at The Princess.
“Congratulations Trixie.” Said Princess Celestia, to Trixie with a smile.
Trixie blushing a little, and feeling a wash of her pride. She pushed it out of the way, as not to say anything that would ruin this for her.
“You really can't be Serious about this?” Asked Rainbow dash, still not convinced Trixie wasn't trying something fishy.
“Rainbow!” Twilight said, hushing her friend.
“And why should I not be?” Princess Celestia asked.
“She is a liar, and she brought the Ursa minor to Ponyville, the first time she came.” Rainbow now red with anger.
“That was Snips, and Snails, that brought the Ursa Rainbow.” said Twilight, in defense of Trixie.
“I can't believe that your on her side! And she tried to enslave Ponyville!” Fumed Rainbow.
“Yes dear, I can not imagine what you seek to gain from not throwing her in jail?” Rarity said, confused about the whole thing.
“I know she did that, but she changed. Can't you see?” Twilight asked, in defense of herself this time.
“But its not, that she changed. She needs to be punished” Rainbow Dash said, making a point.
“Trixie knows that your mad at Trixie.” Trixie spoke, to Rainbow dash.
“Bucking strait I am mad at you!” she said, flying lower to stare at Trixie in the eyes.
“Trixie knows what she did, And she is sorry.” Trixie said, then looking at the ground and, tapping her hoof to the stage, kicking up a little dust. Rainbow Dash couldn't believe it, she ran what Trixie said through her mind again.
“Your what?” Asked Rainbow Dash, very confused.
“Trixie said, she is sorry for what she did. Have a problem hearing?” Trixie spouted at Rainbow Dash, she was so close to Trixie's face, like she was trying to brake her down.
“Okay. Fine!” Rainbow dash relinquished, to the surprise of most of her friends, she flew away a few yards.
Trixie looked to the Princess, who gave Trixie the award money, and the scholarship via telekinesis.
“Thank you Princess.” Said Trixie, walking away, when Celestia stopped her.
“I have an idea. Seeing as how you haven't been punished, I want you to stay with Twilight sparkle. This would be a opportunity for both of you to grow. I expect that you to complete the tasks that Princess Twilight Sparkle, will set for you as your teacher of the magic of friendship” The Princess said, obviously quite serious. Seeing that Trixie may come out of that relationship, with a little more than just the prize. Trixie was shocked hearing what Celestia was asking. In addition to the Elements of Harmony.
Trixie Thought, that the “Princess thing” with Twilight, was enough of a slap in the face but this?
Twilight walked over to where Rainbow hovered.
“Rainbow?” Twilight asking, as she expected an answer, to why Rainbow dash would just give up that easily.
“What, Twilight?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“I just can't believe that you, would just let Trixie go that easily.” Twilight said.
“Well, she said she was sorry, and I believe her.” Rainbow said, Twilight gasped in shock.
“Really? You believe her?” Twilight Asked, still skeptical of this sudden change in her friend.
“Did you see her eyes? She wasn't lying to me that time.” Rainbow spoke, she sank down, and landed, motioning Twilight to come closer.
“To tell you the truth, Twilight. I feel kinda bad for her now.” Rainbow said to Twilight, surprising her.
“Really? In that case..” Twilight paused.
“What, Twilight?” asked Rainbow Dash.
“Well Celestia, wants her to study under me in Ponyville. As in my student, and for punishment.” Twilight said. Rainbow dash fumed, and flew around, not believing her ears. She landed after a minuet or two.
“Great, now we can have two eggheads, around Ponyville,” Rainbow said cynically.
“Not an egghead.” Twilight said, with a chuckle.
“Then, you won't have a problem with her staying in Ponyville for a while?” Twilight asked.
“Of course I have a problem with her. But if Celestia wants it, I am not going to argue. I mean she never steered us in the wrong way before.” Rainbow said to Twilight.
“Okay.” Twilight said.
At the end of the night, the seven got on the train again, headed back to Ponyville. There were still hushed jokes, and other cruelties being said about Trixie. That being told, no rotten fruit was harmed this night.

Chapter 3. Trixies secret
Chapter 3. Trixie's Secret.
When Trixie arrived in Ponyville, it was almost midnight, the moon was high in the night sky. The sky danced with the gleaming stars. It was more peaceful than any other night Trixie had, since she was a filly. Trixie didn't want to have anything go wrong now. She had finally succeeded in at least making her life a little easier. Trixie walked to the inn, and rented a room for the night. Trixie walked to the room, and was asleep the moment she lay down on the bed. All of the hardships washed away in that instant. She didn't dream, it was a black peaceful sleep, the kind that only happens when your either so tired one can't dream, or your at peace.
The next morning.
Trixie awoke at the Ponyville Inn. After ten minuets of restless fidgeting, Trixie climbed out of bed.
It was relatively dark in the room, the only lamp in the room, didn't put off much light. Trixie looked to the clock.
“Its five in the morning.!” Trixie exclaimed, she picked up the clock next to the bed to look more closely. The room was furnished with a bed, curtains, and a end table, where the clock, and lamp stood. The bed was comfortable, even more so than she had expected. She had her first decent nights sleep in more than a month. The inn, was more rustic than Trixie had expected, from looking at the outside. It was made with large timbers, rustic wood trim, and a hardwood floor with some carpet laid out along the hallway. After about two hours of waiting, at least for Celestia's sun to rise. Trixie walked out of the room, and down the hall where awaited the inn keeper.
“Good morning.” The innkeeper said, before he looked at Trixie.
“Any time Trixie wakes up that early. It's not a good morning.” Trixie said, noticing the look on the inn keepers face.
He was glaring at her. No doubt when the Ursa attacked Ponyville, it smashed not only her wagon, but the inn as well. Trixie felt a little like she didn't belong, which was probably true.

After the fiasco with the Princess, the night after the competition.
The Princess had made very valid points, to both Trixie, and Twilight. Princess Celestia, wanted Twilight to catch Trixie up on some of the things Princess Celestia had taught Twilight, and that Trixie didn't seem to do well with others.
“Twilight, I want you to teach Trixie, the magic of friendship” Celestia said. Trixie did need the lessons.
“I will Celestia. You can count on me” replied Twilight.
“Fine. Trixie will do as you ask.” Trixie said in a annoyed voice. Not towards the Princess, but at the fact that she was set on living in Canterlot. She had lived in Canterlot when she was a filly.

Trixie was walking away from the uncomfortable stare of the innkeeper. When Trixie tripped, and fell flat on her face, with a dull thud. The innkeeper, burst into laughter. Trixie too, began laughing if not for the shock of hitting the floor, and maybe becoming concussed. Trixie would have probably yelled at the innkeeper. The laughter died down. Trixie, and the innkeeper looked at one another, and began laughing once more. After the delirious laughing finally stopped, Trixie cleaned off the little bit of dried blood on her nose. The innkeeper waved Trixie good day, and Trixie felt like she had accomplished something.
Trixie walked to the Library, to meet with Twilight. Who was now supposed to be her teacher. According to Princess Celestia, Trixie, together with Twilight, would learn far more then in the academy.
Making Trixie slightly mad.
“Trixie should be in Canterlot!” Trixie fumed. Turning around for a moment, looking towards Canterlot. She sighed, and walked the few remaining steps to the Library door, Trixie knocked on the door.
“Come in!” Trixie heard Twilight, on the other side of the door. Trixie opened the door with her magic, walking into a disaster. Books thrown all over the floor. Making it look like a tornado came through, and only hit the Library.
“What happened?” Trixie asked, slipping on a book, falling with a yelp. Ironically it was a joke book, about one kind of joke, falling. The pages opened, and Trixie read the joke 'have a nice trip. See you next fall.' Trixie was on the verge of bursting into flames, somehow that one joke in a book made Trixie angry. Trixie snapped out of it, looking to the Twilight.
“Oh you mean all the books. Its rearranging day!” Twilight said, excited she levitated a large number of books with her magic, and arranged them on the shelves of the Library.
“Uh? Rearranging day?” Trixie asked, as Twilight levitated more books, arranging them on the book shelves.
“Yes. I rearrange the books to keep them in perfect order, about once a week.” replied Twilight, arranging more books.
Trixie looked as if she was about to speak. Her mouth open, and a hoof in the air. she placed her hoof back to the floor, and closed her mouth.
Trixie waited for Twilight to finish arranging the books. Sitting patiently, watching Twilight put all the books in perfect order.
“When do we begin?” asked Trixie. Still felling like she was being forced to be in Ponyville, as punishment.
“Oh! That's right!” Twilight exclaimed, she gathered a few things,
Trixie rolled her eyes.

Twilight, and Trixie spent what to Trixie seemed like an eternity, in the Library covering the lessons that Celestia taught Twilight, in her years as her personal student. Twilight, standing in front of a chalk board, using telekinesis to write.
Trixie sat at a round table, that was in the middle of the Library. She was doodling with a quill, that Twilight had given her. Then, she looked at Twilight.
“And that about sums it up.” said Twilight, she looked to Trixie.
“Yes yes Trixie understands. You didn't have to start from magic kindergarten.” Trixie said , Twilight laughed at herself a little.
“Now, we will begin with the magic of friendship.” Twilight said, walking out of the Library.
“Where are you going? Trixie is right here.” Trixie said confused.
“Come on Trixie.” urged Twilight.
“Fine, but don't expect Trixie to understand your, silly friendship magic stuff.” Trixie said, she got up, and followed Twilight.
Twilight took Trixie to Rarity's boutique first. They arrived, and Twilight opened the door, the two trotted in.
“I was hoping that you would help me teach Trixie, about the magic of friendship.”Replied Twilight.

“Fine, and you?” Twilight replied.
“Fine, and Trixie....”-Rarity pointed a hoof at Trixie's cloths.- “Those cloths are so... ratty.” She finished.
“I was hoping that you would help me teach Trixie, about the magic of friendship” replied Twilight.
“Trixie is sorry for turning your main green.” - She looked to the floor- “Trixie is sorry for treating everyone poorly.” Trixie finished.
“Thank you Trixie.” Rarity said.
“Now, can we get to the lesson?” begged Trixie, like it was going to be the worst thing ever.
“Yes we can.” said Twilight. Unsure if it was a good idea to teach Trixie this way.
Twilight told Trixie the story, of how the six of them first met, and became friends.
Trixies jaw was practically on the floor. Hearing about how each of her friends, was a bearer of an Element of Harmony, not just Twilight.
“And Trixie, humiliated them?” Trixie asked, in absolute disbelief.
“Uh, yeah... You did.” said Twilight, much to Trixies chagrin. Trixie simply stared at Twilight, then to Rarity.
Rarity giving her a glance, she continued her sewing.
“Then why bring Trixie here?” Trixie asked, confused.
“Because Rarity, is the element of generosity.” Twilight told Trixie.
“Trixie knows that, Trixie was listening.” Trixie looked at Twilight.
“Your here to learn something, from Rarity.” Twilight said. Trixie was going to argue with Twilight, when Rarity chimed in.
“Oh, We can't have you going around in thous shabby old things.”
Trixie was about to say something, when she was taken aback by the brand new cape, and hat that Rarity held before her.
“But, Trixie is.....She...” Trixie stumbled.
“Oh, its quite alright.” Said Rarity, proud of her work.
The cape, and hat were a deep royal purple with stars, fireworks, and Trixie's cutie mark on them.
Embellished in Rarity's normal fashion.
“How much?” asked Trixie, thinking that the new cape, and hat would be very expensive.
“Oh what ever do you mean dear?” Rarity said, levitating the cape, and hat. Taking the old hat of Trixie's off and placing the new hat on her head. Trixie, pulled off her cape, pulling the blue jewel broach off her old cape.
“Okay, now you may give Trixie the new cape.” Trixie said, waiting. Rarity put the cape on Trixies back. Trixie magically weaved the broach into the new fabric of the cape.
“There now. Doesn't The Great and Powerful Trixie, just look fabulous. This is the nicest fabric Trixie have ever seen.” Trixie said, looking into a mirror.
“Oh, I didn't know you were into fashion!” beamed Rarity.
“Why yes, Trixie is. She just couldn't afford really nice things before.” Trixie said, almost totally wiping the smile off her face.
“Now, how much?” Trixie asked Rarity again. Seriously thinking that nothing would ever be given to Trixie, especially not by a pony she humiliated.
“Well, I thought that you could use some new cloths. Since, well, the Ursa smashed your wagon, and quite frankly. Your old cloths are really ratty.” Rarity said.
“So, your just giving, Trixie, the hat, and cape?” Asked Trixie, almost gasping at every word.
“Yes dear. You already apologized to me. So the way I see it. This is a gift, Consider it apology accepted from me.” said Rarity. Trixie levitated some bits from her prize money.
“Take it. Trixie insists.” Said Trixie, she felt a small sense of relief, that some part of the large matter of her mistakes so far, were washing away.
“Oh my!” swooned Rarity, she levitated her fainting couch out behind her, and used it almost immediately.
“Trixie, thanks you.” Trixie said, laying the bits on the counter, where Rarity was working before.
“No no! That's too much dear.” said Rarity, counting the bits before.
“Why? how much did she give you Rarity?” asked Twilight.
“A hundred bits!” Exclaimed Rarity.
“Trixie is not a louse! She can afford to pay for new cloths.” Trixie said, stamping a hoof.
“But dear? So much?” Rarity asked.
“Trixie said, she isn't a louse! It is only fair that Trixie, pay for her own things!” exclaimed Trixie.
“Girls!” interjected Twilight.
“What is it Twilight?” asked Rarity.
“This isn't what I had in mind to teach Trixie.” Twilight said, face hoofing.
“Trixie understands, that she was trying to give Trixie a gift, but Trixie does not need your pity.” Trixie said, sticking up her nose, walking away.
“Its not pity, to give someone a gift.” said Twilight, much to Trixies annoyance.
“Trixie will not take these as a gift. They are too nice.” Trixie said, to the surprise of Twilight, and Rarity.
“To nice? For a gift? Really?” Twilight asked, dumbfounded.
“Why no. The cape, and hat were merely so it wasn't reflected badly on me. As a fashionista, you understand,” Rarity said, opening a curtain to reveal a dress rack. Trixies jaw dropped.
“Now, this is to nice to just give you, even if you apologized to me.” Said Rarity, levitating a beautiful blue dress from the rack.
“This matches your coat darling. Here you can have this, since you paid for it.” holding the dress up against Trixie for size.
“Your giving this to Trixie?” Trixie asked, confused looking at the dress now laying against her coat.
“Why? Whatever do you mean darling. You paid for this dress, with the bits you gave me on the table over there.” Rarity pointed to the table where the hundred bits still lay. Rarity levitated some of the bits back to Trixie.
“This dress is only forty bits.” Rarity said, she motioned for Trixie to take the rest back as change.
“That was because, Trixie didn't know that you had made a dress for her too.?” Trixie was absolutely surprised at what had just happened. Taking the sixty bits, that Rarity was giving her.
“Thank you Rarity.” Trixie said, in a tone that was more than grateful, but almost conflicted.
Not being able to say anything else to Rarity. Trixie gave up for the time being.
“Come on Trixie. Lets go to Sweet Apple acres next, to see Apple Jack.” said Twilight, urging Trixie to follow her. Trixie without a word followed Twilight. The two arrived at Applejack's farm a little latter.
“Hello” Twilight said with a smile.
“Hey Twi.” came the reply from Applejack.
“Uh? Twi. Why is Trixie here?” asked Apple Jack, with a glare towards Trixie.
“You were at the show last night. Remember,” Twilight said.
“Yeah. Ah didn't mean, why is she in Ponyville sugar cube. Ah meant, why is she on my farm?” Apple Jack demanded, stamping a hoof obviously still mad at Trixie.
“Because, Princess Celestia asked me to teach her the magic of friendship.” Twilight said to her friend.
“Ah know that too Twi. But Ah don't want her on my farm, seeing as how she tried twice to humiliate you.” Applejack said, with annoyance
“Trixie is sorry, about how she acted last time.” Trixie interjected, before Twilight could speak.
“Well Ah...” Applejack stopped mid sentence, and gave Trixie a confused look.
“What? Isn't that what you wanted from Trixie?” she asked, She still held herself tall, and proud.
“Well yes, but Ah didn't expect ya to say it, without me having to buck you strait to the next town.” Applejack said, still surprised at her.
“Well the last time Trixie came to Ponyville, she is sorry about how she acted.” stated Trixie.
“Well that'll be a start.” said Applejack.
“Well then, may we begin?” asked Trixie.
“Yes.” Twilight said, she looked to her friend.
“Applejack. Can you help me teach Trixie, the magic of friendship?” asked Twilight.
“What do you mean Twi? Ah don't trust her, much less want to teach her about friendship.” said Applejack
“That's what I mean. Applejack's element is honesty.” Twilight said.
“Trixie was listening remember,” Trixie said, in annoyance.
“Yes, I brought you here to learn about honesty.” Twilight said.
“Trixie is honest.” Trixie said, confused a little.
“Your not very honest if ya ask me.” Applejack said to Trixie. Making Trixie a little more than mad.
“Trixie is honest... Now.” Trixie said, reminding herself that she had lied about vanquishing a Ursa Major.
“Uhhu?” Applejack said, skeptical about that statement from Trixie. Trixie just looked at Twilight, wishing to move things along.
“What?” Twilight simply asked.
“Trixie doesn't understand what you mean to accomplish, by bringing me here,” Trixie said.
“She means to make a honest mare out of ya.” Implied Applejack.
“If you want the truth from Trixie. You wont get it.” Trixie said, still not understanding what Twilights plan was about.
“No silly. What AJ means, is that you need to be honest with yourself, and us if you ever expect to learn the magic of friendship.” Twilight said, trying to get through to Trixie.
“Trixie is honest with herself.” Trixie said, still not understanding what Twilight was doing.
Twilight face hoofed.
“What I mean, is that you need to be able to show who you Really are.” Twilight said, seeming to get through to Trixie.
“This is Trixie. What you see, is what you get.” Trixie said.
“You mean to say, that the way yer actin now, as to the way you were actin backstage hiding from every pony is the real you?” Applejack hitting some kind of nerve with Trixie.
“Trixie wasn't hiding!” Trixie exclaimed, in a shaking tone.
“Ah don't believe it for a second. Now, why don't ya tell us, why you were hiding back there sugar cube?” Apple jack, and Twilight now, expectantly waiting for Trixies response. Trixie just looked at the two ponies, keeping her mouth shut.
Twilight, and Apple Jack looked at each other, and back to Trixie. Trixie stuck her nose up and huffed, like she was not going to say a thing to the two waiting ponies.
“Trixie doesn't have to explain herself to you!” Trixie said, turning to walk away only then letting her guard down, closing her eyes, a tear fell down her cheek.
“Whats the matter sugar cube?” asked Applejack reassuringly. Trixie opened her eyes to see that Apple Jack, and Twilight, were right in front of her.
“How did you... when did you...?” asked the confused Trixie
“Teleportation spell.” replied Twilight simply.
“Trixie can see that.” Trixie now back to her arrogant self.
“Nothing is wrong with Trixie.” she said. Her voice strained a little. She forced her tone to reflect that of the proud show mare she was trying to be.
“This is where the honesty part, of being honest comes in sugar cube.” Apple Jack said, trying to coax Trixie into telling them what was wrong. Trixie wasn't budging. Her pose that of some pony, trying to fend off wolfs, rather than have a conversation with some pony else.
“Its okay sugar cube, you don't have to tell us.” Apple Jack said, not wanting to press the issue any more, seeing Trixie becoming upset at the two, for trying to get her to open up.
“Good, because I wont.” Trixie said, in a flat harsh tone, as if she was giving a filly the talking to of a lifetime. Twilight looked worried, but also didn't want to press the issue. Trixie, and Twilight went back to the Library, where Trixie immediately bid her adieu, and left for the inn. The innkeeper waved, and Trixie smiled, trying not to show any one that anything was wrong. Trixie went to her room locking the door. She laid down, and began to cry. Not stopping for the knock at the door. The knock came again.
“Go away. Leave Trixie alone!” Trixie said giving a growl.
“Trixie I am sorry. I just wanted to help.” Trixie heard Twilights voice, from the other side of the door. Trixie didn't reply, nor did she get up. She simply buried her head into the pillow.
“Trixie...” -Twilight paused.- “Pinky is throwing you a welcome to town party. Your invited of course.” Twilight finished.
“Why? Trixie doesn't deserve one.” Trixie said, before she could stop herself.
“You may not think that, but seeing what you went trough. I think that you deserve to have a little fun, and happiness.” Twilight said, trying to get Trixie to forgive herself, from what ever it was that was bothering her.
The door swung open a little. Trixie showed her face. She had cleaned up as best she could before opening the door.
“Trixie doesn't want to go. Go away Princess Twilight Sparkle.” Trixie said, in a unforgiving tone. Trixie began to close the door, when Twilight stopped her for a moment.
“I don't understand what is on your mind, but feel free to talk to me about it if you want.” Twilight tried to comfort Trixie.
Trixie looked at Twilight with uneasy eyes. Trixie then nodded and closed the door. She went back to the bed. She laid back down, and thought about what Twilight said. She fumed, about how she was fine, as a tear fall down her cheek, then she realized.

“Trixie is not okay.” Trixie said with a sob.
Trixie lay in the bed for a few minuets, not being able to sleep, or think strait. She got up, and went to the bathroom, where she stared into the mirror, and looked at herself.
“Trixie” She said into the mirror.
“You need to make a friend.” she stated to her reflection.
After she cleaned herself again she put on the cape, and hat Rarity gave her. 'She gave them to Trixie.' Trixie thought to herself, feeling strange about it. She also, looked at the beautiful dress that she had now. It looked like a dress that one would have made for The Grand Galloping Gala. She walked out of the inn, and began to go to the party. Only after about three steps, she noticed she had no idea where the party was. She went to the Library to ask Twilight. She arrived at the door, and knocked.
No answer. Trixie knocked again, still nothing.
“Trixie is not amused. Open the door Twilight!” Trixie said, with a growl.
Trixie waited, still nothing.
“Trixie is coming in Twilight.” Trixie said, now annoyed at the Princess. Trixie opened the door, only to find it was really dark. She stumbled a little, looking for a light.
“UHGG. Why does it have to be so dark?” Trixie asked herself.
Just then the lights came on and everyone, that Pinky invited to this party yelled.
“SURPRISE!!!!” Trixie yelped, and almost fell over, at the sudden surprise, and the volume of it.
Twilight, Apple Jack, Pinky Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and a few ponies, Trixie didn't recognize were in front of her in a flash.
“So glad you could make it to the party, are you excited cuz I am excited..” Pinky was interrupted by herself seeing a chocolate fountain. She gasped, and ran off to stick her head into the fountain.
“Uh? “ Trixie asked, confused.
“Oh, that's just Pinky being.... well Pinky.” Twilight said simply.
Trixie looked conflicted at being at the party. She tapped a hoof on the floor.
“Trixie.” Twilight said, with a hoof on her shoulder.
“It's really good that you could come.” Twilight finished, with a smile. Trixie looked around at how many ponies were at the party.
“Trixie is surprised at how many ponies aren't yelling at her.” Trixie said only loud enough for Twilight to hear.
“Well why would they yell at you?” asked Twilight. Feeling that she may already know the answer.
“Because, of what Trixie did before.” Trixie said, with her ears pinned. Feeling a wash of guilt.
“Yeah it's all good.” said Rainbow Dash, she hovered down, and landed next to Apple Jack.
Trixie was back stepping by this turn of events. She had a confused, and conflicted look about her.
She didn't know what to say, or do. She felt a wash of different emotions, not knowing which to listen to.
“Trixie is...” Trixie couldn't finish speaking.
“Don't worry so much darling.” Rarity said, she added herself to the group. Trixie looked around, and couldn't think. She felt happiness, sadness, fear, pride, and confusion. She felt like if she couldn't decided on an emotion, she would explode.
“I forgive you.” Fluttershy said, in her normal timid voice. Now, Trixie was nervous. She didn't know how to react, to being forgiven by the ponies she hurt the most.
“Trixie are you okay?” The group of ponies asked simultaneously.Trixie just looked at them feeling her eyes water. She turned, and ran as fast as she could so no one would see if she cried.
“Trixie! Wait.” Twilight called after Trixie, running after her. Trixie ran, and ran until she was too tired to run any more. She was just outside of Ponyville. She decided to turn back, and go to the inn. When Twilight caught up to her.
“Trixie! Wait! Don't go.... Please.” pleaded Twilight out of breath. Trixie didn't look at her, she walked past Twilight, heading back to the inn.
“Trixie.” Twilight said, in a concerned voice.
“Trixie needs to lay down.” Trixie said, with a low, depressed tone. Twilight followed her, and tried to comfort her.
Trixie couldn't say anything. Her heart, and head awash with confusion, and conflict. Finally, after reaching the front doors to the inn, Trixie lifted her head, and looked at Twilight.
“Why?” Trixie asked Twilight, simply.
“What do you mean why?” Twilight not understanding the question.
“Why can they forgive Trixie so easily?” Trixie asked, her eyes watering a little.
“You made your apology, and they forgive you.” Twilight said, putting a hoof on the other mares shoulder.
“But Trixie did those awful things.” Trixie said, now feeling, and looking like she was going to cry.
“It's okay now. Do you want someone to talk to?” Twilight asked, now hoping that she would talk to her. Trixie nodded her head, and motioned Twilight to follow her. They went to Trixie's room at the inn. Trixie sat down, and looked at Twilight, as if waiting for her to start the conversation. Twilight motioned her to go first. Trixie looked away and began to speak.
“Trixie is confused... she.. I don't know, what to do now.” Trixie said, with a crack in her voice.
“I know, and you don't have to feel bad about it. When I came to Ponyville, I didn't want to even make friends.” Twilight said, not really knowing what to say to her.
“Trixie wants friends. But doesn't know how.” Trixie said, easing up a little, looking at Twilight.
“What do you mean, want to make friends. Apple Jack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinky, and I, are your friends.” Twilight said, with sincerity.
“Do... do you really mean that?” Trixie asked surprised.
“Of course I do.” Twilight said, with a smile.
Trixie was crying, she reached out for Twilight. They embraced. Trixie sobbed slightly. Trixie felt a little more at ease with Twilight. Enough so, that Trixie decided to tell Twilight what was on Trixies mind for so long.
“Trixie has something to say. You wont judge Trixie for it will you ?” Trixie asked Twilight, she pulled away from the embrace. Twilight simply gave a nod, and sat down to listen to her words.
“You promise?” asked Trixie seriously.
“How about a Pinky promise.?” asked Twilight. Trixie looked at her, confused.
“What?” she asked.
“Cross my heart, and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” Twilight said, doing the motions, and poking herself in the eye with her hoof.
“Pinky is really serious about a Pinky Promise. Braking a Promise is the fastest way to lose a friend.”
Pinky burst out form the end table Exclaiming, “FOREVER!” as she sunk back into the drawer.
“Wait?... How did she... never mind.” Trixie said with surprise.
“That's just Pinky.” Twilight said, holding her eye.
“Trixie, she..... I …. I ..” Trixie said, now blushing, and twirling her main with a hoof.
“I like you, Twilight Sparkle.” Trixie lowered her head, not knowing what Twilight would say to this.
“I like you to Trixie. Past all the boasting, and bragging.” Twilight said honestly.
“Trixie doesn't think you understand.” Trixie began, and cut herself off, not sure to tell her or not.
“What do you mean Trixie? Its okay, you don't have to hide your feelings from me.” she said, waiting for Trixie to finish.
“Well Trixie's favorite color is purple, and well....” Trixie said, almost avoiding the subject all together. As Twilight sat patiently. Trixie took a breath, and mustered her resolve.
“Trixie Likes You....” Trixie said, putting emphasis on liking Twilight.
“Wait... you don't mean?” Twilights eyes got wide.
“Yes, I do Twilight.” Trixie said, nodding her head with a smile.
Now, it was Twilight's turn, not know what to say. She blinked, shaking her head, to clear her mind.
“Trixie always has. I guess.” Trixie said, she blushed.
“Well..... I …. um.... but..... I ….” Twilight stammered. Now blushing. Trixie looked dejected at this, noticing that Twilight didn't seem to share her feelings.
“Trixie understands.” Trixie said lowering her head, and pining her ears. Feeling like someone was stabbing her heart with a hot fireplace poker. Trixie walked over to her bed, and laid her head down. Twilight hearing a small sob almost inaudible.
“It's alright if you don't feel the same.” Trixie said, muffled by the comforter on the bed.
Twilight not knowing what to say, or what to do. She decided to at least give Trixie a chance.
“Well... I like you but... I don't think I am ready for something like that.” Twilight said, trying to keep her new friend, and not hurt her feelings to much.
Trixie lifted her head, and looked at Twilight.
“Okay. Trixie imagined that you would say that.” Trixie said, still sad ,and still a little hurt, but less so now, that Twilight might come around to her feelings.
“Now, I think that you need some sleep. We have a lot to do tomorrow.” Twilight said, looking at the clock, it was twelve thirty in the morning. Trixie nodded, and opened the door for Twilight. Twilight stepped through the door, and looked at Trixie one more time. Trixie closed the door after Twilight left, and laid down feeling that she was free now, from a curse that had been looming over her. She fell asleep.

Trixie dreamed about Twilight. A bright sunny day, the two of them frolicking, and playing. Then, laying in the grass, looking at each other, as Trixie gave Twilight a kiss. Trixie was blushing turning in her bed giggling.
“Trixie likes that Twilight.” she said, aloud from her dream.
Twilight was about to wake her. It was the early afternoon, and Trixie had slept in. After hearing that, Twilight blushed. She felt warm looking at Trixie smile as she slept. Twilight shook off her emotions for the time being. She shook Trixie to wake her.
Trixie opened her eyes, and smiled at Twilight, pulling her close, and kissing her on the lips. Twilight gasped, and pulled away, blushing, and panting. Trixies eyes got wide, jumping out of bed.
“Oh I … I'm sorry... I didn't mean to....” Trixie stammered.
“It's... It's okay Trixie.” Twilight said, with a blush, and a sudden warmth coursing through her.
“We have a lot to do.” said Twilight, opening the door of Trixies room, shaking off the odd feeling she had after the random kiss.
Trixie nodded, still embarrassed about randomly kissing Twilight.
The two walked into town, and went to the Library.
They began working on the next element of friendship.
Trixie listening intently, having romantic ideas about Twilight, and her. Shaking them off again, and again.
Now that Trixies secret about Twilight was out. She felt that it was easier to be around Ponyville.
Trixie's hopeful, new life.
Chapter 4. Trixie Tries.
The day started like the first, five AM Trixie waiting for the sun to rise.
This time Trixie was in The Golden Oaks Library. Twilight had suggested that Trixie stay at the Library so Trixie could study giving Trixie a few books to read. Twilight didn't really think that Trixie was serious about her feelings passing it off as a crush on her for being a Princess. Twilight herself had one on Celestia when she first became her student. Trixie was already sitting in the Foyer reading a book. Twilight noticed that it was not a book Twilight had asked Trixie to study.
“What book is that?” Twilight asked as she Stood behind Trixie.
Trixie jumped almost to the ceiling of the library with a scream.
“Oh.. No...Nothing Princess.” Trixie blushed and hid the book as fast as she could. The book wasn't one that was in the library. Trixie bought it in Canterlot's book store before they left for Ponyvile.
The title of the book was 'How to love, and be loved by your special some pony.'
Twilight didn't get a chance to see the book before Trixie hid it.
“Well it's really nice to see you up so early this morning.” Twilight recounting the morning Trixie slept in.
“Yes.... It... It is.. Good morning Princess Twilight.” Trixie said seeming to be in a good mood.
Trixie went to the temporary room that Twilight set up in the basement where Twilight usually had her scientific equipment set up. Trixie hid the book underneath the bed and gathered the books Twilight gave her to study. She hurried back up to Twilight.
“So.. Trixie. Sorry but today's lesson will have to wait.” Twilight told Trixie.
“Oh. Why?” Trixie actually disappointed not to be spending the day with Twilight.
“I just received a letter asking me to fill some royal duties today. I will be taking care of some things with Mayor Mare.” Twilight explained.
“Do I really have to go too Twilight?” Spike pleaded with Twilight to let him off.
“Yes Spike. Its hard for me to write and listen to twenty ponies at the same time.” Twilight seeming to make her point.
“Okay. What does Trixie do then?” Trixie hadn't thought of a day off or what she would do.
“Well Rarity told me she needed help today. Maybe you could fill in for me for Rarity?” Twilight coming up with the request as a test of Trixies new friendship lessons.
“Trixie will help. Only if she isn't mad at Trixie still?” The previous day still hadn't had time to sink into Trixies mind.
“I don't think so. Yesterday seemed to be the end of any quarrel between you two.” Twilight said thinking that Rarity would not have given Trixie a cape, hat, or for that matter the time of day before Trixie apologized.
“Then Trixie will help her if it is one of the lessons.” Trixie didn't really know how else to say it. Twilight nodded and left the library to complete her royal tasks. Spike following close behind with a quill and parchment.
Trixie went back down to the basement to retrieve her new hat, and cape. Trixie looked to the bed where the hidden book lay. Trixie pondered for a moment then walked away thinking that it would be best to leave it hidden. Trixie commenced her walk from the library to the Carousel Boutique.
Half way through town she found a bit. Trixie looked around not seeing the harm in picking up a stray bit. A little farther she saw a filly searching the ground. As Trixie drew closer she saw the filly with tears in her eyes.
“Excuse Trixie, but what's wrong?” Trixie asked the filly.
“Well you see my sister gave me a bit to go to sugar cube corner, and get us a couple of glazed doughnuts for lunch. But I lost it.” the filly really saddened by the loss of one bit.
“Look behind your ear little filly.” Trixie pulling out one of her favorite magic tricks.
The filly brushed a hoof behind her ear and the bit was resting behind her ear. The filly perked up immediately.
“How in all of Equestria did it get there?” The filly was perplexed but happy.
“Thank you.....” The filly trailed off when she finally looked up to Trixie
“Trixie??” The filly cocked her head.
“Yes?” Trixie was confused that a filly she never met knew her. Though it wasn't surprising she lived in Ponyvile no doubt.
“Well thanks anyway.” The filly said.
“Your very welcome. What is your name?” Trixie asked the filly not sure what reaction she would get but being nice nonetheless.
“Scootaloo.” The filly replied.
“Nice to meet you Scootaloo.” Trixie stated as she trotted off to get to Rarity's boutique.
Trixie felt like today would be the best day of her new life. Trixie arrived at the Carousel Boutique.
Trixie opened the door and entered seeing Rarity scrambling around.
“Twilight said you may need help from Trixie today.” Trixie said hoping to just get anything that was still between the two out of topic today.
“Oh Trixie yes I do need help. Could you be a dear and get the orange, and the off hue green fabrics off the shelf over there and stand on this?” Rarity pointed a hoof at a posing platform for dress fitting. Trixie did what was asked of her. Rarity began work on a new dress with Trixie as a living dress dummy.
“Oh while your here Trixie. Twilight told me about your feelings. What made you... well you know like her?” Rarity asked.
Trixie began to shake not knowing what to say to change the subject or even tell Rarity to mind her own business.
“Trixie feels that way.” Trixie saying simply hoping that would suffice for now.
“Well I guess I meant why, how, and when did you start liking her?” Rarity rephrased.
Trixie still shaking feeling trapped by the needles moving in, and out of the fabric on her body.
She felt if she didn't explain herself a little she would have the dress sewn into her body.
“Well.. Trixie felt that way when Twilight vanquished the Ursa minor.”
“And?” Rarity expecting more juice from the story telling magician.
“Twilight is the most amazing pony Trixie has ever met. Trixie also loves the color purple.” Trixie felling almost relived that she was getting some of this off her chest.
“Trixie feels that Twilight is the most infuriating pony.” Trixie said getting a confused look from Rarity.
“What do you mean infuriating?” Rarity didn't see how any pony could say they like some pony else if they see them as infuriating.
“Twilight is so smart, and so good at magic. Its like she was born to make Trixie look like a foal . It makes me so mad to think that I am less than half as good if not less than that to her.” Trixie was digressing.
“So you like her because she makes you mad?” Rarity was having a hard time grasping what Trixie was talking about.
“Well no Trixie likes her for being her. Twilight is so nice and has friends. She is really good at magic, not as bad as I made it out to be. She is more than that..” Trixie trailed off not sure what to say to make sense.
“Trixie feels pulled to her. Like magic deemed it meant to be.” Trixie said waving a hoof trying to make some sense of her emotions.
"Trixie doesn't know how to explain herself. Trixie never had any pony to talk to." Trixie said hanging her head low.
“Really? Is that so? So do you really like Twilight?” Rarity asked implying something to Trixie but Trixie didn't pick up on it.
“Twilight told Trixie to be more honest. So yes Trixie does.” Trixie now blushing.
Rarity gasped. Thinking that Trixie had picked up on the implied kind of like that a lover has.
“Does Twilight feel the same?” Rarity blushing at the idea of seeing Princess Twilight and Trixie together.
“No Trixie doesn't think so. Can you help?” Trixie being sincere.
Rarity not one to give up a challenge thought for a moment.
“Yes I will help as much as I can. First things first.... A makeover!” Rarity got excited.
“ But don't you need help with your shop first?” Trixie asked.
“To tell the truth... No I never needed help. I told Twilight that to talk to her more about you. All i said is that i would need help tomorrow. I never said what with.” Rarity said sheepishly. Trixie squinted a little.
“About... Me??” Trixie wondered about what they would talk about.
Rarity nodded and walked over to her sewing table.
“You see. Twilight may have some feelings for you as well.” Rarity told Trixie.
“So Trixie may have a chance?” Trixie was now blushing even deeper red.
Rarity nodded half halfheartedly not knowing Twilights real feelings.
“So how about that makeover?” Rarity asked Trixie.
Trixie nodded and they went to the spa to get pampered. After about half the day passed the two unicorns came out from the spa. Trixie now felt and looked like she wasn't as haggard as she had been for quite some time. Then Trixie left Raritys company to get ready for Twilight to return.
Trixie tried her dress on, it fit superbly. The dress outlined ever part of Trixie that Trixie felt was worth showing off. Trixie waited in the foyer pacing back and forth thinking about what to ask or say to Twilight. Twilight entered the library latter that afternoon. The sight of Trixie struck Twilight making the purple Princess blush.
“Trix... Trixie? Why are you dressed like that?” Twilight stumbled on her words.
“Trixie wanted to.. Well to try to show you how Trixie really felt about you Princess Twilight.” Trixie spoke with a slightly seductive tone as she walked to Twilight rocking her body back and forth the sway of her tail and main were almost enough to hypnotize any pony that had eyes.
“Trixie what are you doing?” Twilight asked shakily. Feeling warm enough to sweat.
“Trixie thinks that..Trixie wants... UG.. Will you be my special some-pony?” Trixie came out and asked.
“No!” Twilight rejected her flatly.
“But Trixie thought you had feelings for Trixie too, even a little.” Trixie couldn't believe it. Twilight flat out rejected her.
“I am your teacher, and a Princess its not right for me to have you of all ponies to be my special some-pony.” Twilight was right to shoot Trixie down even if Twilight loved her she couldn't have her as she was a student. Twilight didn't love her past a platonic love, or even some hint of mixed emotions.
Trixie feeling absolutely crushed by this began to tear up. Trixie threw down the box of sweats she had gotten for Twilight and ran out of the library door.
Trixie went to the park and sat down on a bench to cry.
Trixie cried for what must have been hours. When she looked up it was night the moon was rising and the stars blinking on one by one. Trixie didn't want to face Twilight just yet so she decided to go back to the Ponyvile inn and stay a night there. When she arrived she was greeted warmly by the innkeeper.
“Oh welcome back Trixie.” The innkeeper said with a chuckle.
“Can Trixie rent the room for another night?” Trixie asked trying not to show how rough she had it today.
“Sure can.” The innkeeper replied.
Trixie nodded and paid for the night. Slipping into her room for another lonely night.
Trixie woke with a cold sweat panting heavily. It was again five in the morning. Trixie didn't know how to even approach Twilight after what happened last night. Trixie immediately packed going to The Golden Oaks Library to retrieve her book. Trixie sneaking into the library early in the morning finding that the box of sweats was still on the floor. Trixie looked around a little but saw nothing else out of place. Trixie went down to the basement to get her book. Trixie found it right where she left it.
Twilight was asleep in her bed, Spike was snoring gently in a dream of his own.
Trixie went back up to the foyer and snatched up the box of sweats. She then saw a note on the table.
“Dear Trixie.
Please don't take it so hard. I do like you but not like that.
Sincerely Princess Twilight Sparkle.”
Trixie crumpled the note and threw it away. Feeling a little less hurt from the whole ordeal than she imagined. Trixie wrote a note of her own.
“Dear Twilight.
Sorry but I need a few days off. Going to goof off and not learn anything. Back in a few days.
P.S I never liked you anyway Twilight Snarkle.
Trixie.”
Trixie lay the note where the one Twilight had hers. Then Trixie left the library on her way to the train station.

?Chapter 6. Trixies new day
Chapter 6. Trixies new day.
Trixie woke to the sound of birds chirping she had a warm feeling that today would be great.
She walked to the library where Twilight was already underway preparing Fluttershy for the lesson today. Fluttershy didn't know how to approach Trixie. Trixie opened the door to the library and walked into the foyer.
“Good morning Princess Twilight.” Trixie greeted simply.
“AAAAHHHHHH!” Fluttershy squeaked and hid under the table.
“Did Trixie do something wrong?” She asked confused.
“No that's just Fluttershy.” Twilight was Trying to cox the timid Pegasus from under the table.
Fluttershy came out but hid her face with her long main. Trixie sat down at the table and began to read one of the books that Princess Twilight had given her.
“Trixie. This is Fluttershy.” Twilight introduced the two.
“Hello.” Trixie said not looking away from her book still sorting through her feelings about being in Ponyville.
“Hello Trixie.” Fluttershy spoke meekly.
“Fluttershy is going to help with today's lesson.” Twilight said.
Trixie turned looking to Fluttershy expectantly. The shy Pegasus didn't speak she simply taped a hoof on the floor. Trixie didn't say anything either waiting for the lesson to begin.
After waiting for what seemed like hours. Twilight spoke.
“Ahem. Well today's lesson will be about kindness.” She saw Trixie stop banging her head on the table trying to be patient.
“Trixie is kind. Trixie gave a little filly back her bit she lost.” She said proudly.
Twilight nodded acknowledging the kind gesture.
“Well today I was hoping that I could see your kindness first hoof.” Twilight said.
“Trixie will oblige you Princess.” She said to her teacher. Getting up off her seat and walking over to Fluttershy who immediately backed away.
“Trixie wont harm you.” Trixie trying to manage as motherly a tone as she could.
Fluttershy was still hiding her face but seemed a little more at ease. Trixie gave Fluttershy a hug.
She smiled and looked to Twilight.
“There Trixie is kind.” Twilight face hoofed.
“Not really what I meant.” Twilight walked over and opened the door to let some animals in.
“Today you are going to help Fluttershy get the animals ready for autumn.” Trixie tilted her head. She didn't have a clue as to what she was supposed to say.
“Fluttershy will tell you what she needs you to do.” Twilight left it open for Fluttershy to step in. Fluttershy just gave Trixie a list of all the animals that hibernated and all the things they needed before autumn and winter. Trixie read the list taking about half an hour to get through it all, being so long that it almost reached out the library door.
“Trixie sees. She will commence the tasks at once.” Trixie seeming undaunted by the exceedingly long list of things to do.
Fluttershy blinked at Twilight, all she could do was raise a hoof in the air. Trixie went about the business she was asked to do by The Princess and Fluttershy. Trixie was walking with Fluttershy following her. She used her magic to pick up all the nuts for the squirrels, and berries for the bears. The day passed slowly still humid from the summer rains. The grass near Fluttershys cottage was tall but not excessively so. Fluttershys garden and flower beds were naturally beautiful the animals nibbling stray leaves and unopened flower buds off to trim them for her.
Trixie sniffed the flowers accidentally snorting a bee into her nose. It stung her making Trixie scream and sneeze. The bee came out but Trixie was allergic to bees not deathly so, but enough to make her nose swell to comical proportions. Making her sound very strange.
“Flunnershy , halp Tnixie.” Trixie managed through speaking with a nose about three times the size it was a few seconds ago.
“Oh..my.” Fluttershy said as she went inside to get medicine. After a few moments fidgeting and frantically searching for her bee sting medicine she went back to Trixie who was now listing to the side the bee stung her on. A few moments after Fluttershy applied the medication Trixie was back to normal.
“Thank you Fluttershy.” Fluttershy simply nodded and offered Trixie a meal for her hard work.
Trixie accepted and went inside.
Fluttershy made Trixie soup Trixie ate the soup slowly as it was really hot.
“This is the best soup Trixie has ever tasted.” Trixie was now slurping down the soup cooled off enough to not burn her mouth.
“Thank you for helping Trixie.” Fluttershy said meekly. Trixie nodded and continued her soup.
Fluttershy and Trixie talked for hours after that. Everything Fluttershy did seemed to have some impact on Trixie. Just when the day was going so well Twilight stepped into Fluttershys cottage.
“Trixie you seem to have received a letter from Princess Celestia.” Trixie surprised by this telekineticly took the letter from Twilight. Trixie read the letter.
“Dear Trixie Lulamoon
Next time you are in Canterlot feel free to come speak to me.
Princess Celestia.”
“Odd.” Trixie stated tilting her head.
Twilight shrugged and bid Trixie to follow her back to the library to see if Trixie learned anything today. Of course Trixie being as stubborn as she is missed about half of the intended lessons in friendship. Only learning that ,there were a lot more squirrels than Trixie thought, and that Fluttershys soup was really good, and that bee stings in your nose really hurt more than one would think. Twilight had to go over all of the intended lesson material. Trixie listened and at the very least took notes at Twilights request. Latter that night Twilights stomach growled Trixie offered to make Twilight some peanut butter crackers. The two ate the snack while reviewing the days lesson another time.
“Trixie does understand you see Twilight.” Trixie making her magical aura into a illusion of the days prior events containing kindness.
“I see well then I guess you pass for today. But don't forget that tomorrow will be harder.” Trixie sighed at this.
“Really. Why must you make it so hard on Trixie?” Trixie said with a huff.
Twilight laughed getting a drink of her tea.
“Its not actually that hard.” Twilight saw Trixies face wrinkle in confusion.
“If its not hard. Why tell Trixie it was?” Twilight laughed again.
“I was just testing you.” Trixie looked to Spike.
“Do you wish to have some of the Great and Powerful Trixies snacks?” Trixie telekineticly gave Spike some of the peanut butter and crackers.
“Thanks.” Spike said unenthusiastic about being given anything from Trixie.
Trixie and her teacher spent about another hour talking about the lessons thus far, when Twilight suddenly stopped.
“Trixie how much does the inn cost you?” Trixie stopped eating and swallowed.
“Only five bits per night. Why do you ask?” Trixie was a bit confused at the sudden interest in her sleeping arrangements.
“Well because it is actually my responsibility to house you now.” Trixie still confused.
“So Trixie likes the inn. Its quiet and Trixie likes to sleep in a quiet place.” Twilight face-hoofed.
“Well Apple Jacks farm is quiet. You could stay there. It wouldn't cost you, that is if Apple Jack would let you. Trixie pondered the idea continuing to munch down on the snacks.
“Trixie thinks it may be a good idea.” Twilight nodded.
“Well I am going to bed you do the same Trixie. Its still going to be a long day.” Twilight walked upstairs to her bed. Trixie nodded packing her books, and notes. Trixie checked into the inn for another night until different accommodations were set. She locked the door and crawled into bed, when a knock came at the door. Trixie answered the door only to find no one there, looking down to find a gift. Trixie immediately opened it only to get a whipped cream custard in the face.
Outside the hallway window the guard burst into quieted laughter flying away to laugh harder so no pony would catch him goofing off. When he was a safe distance away he commenced rolling on the ground. Laughing so hard he could barely breath. ' That Trixie is so gullible. Take that for embarrassing me in Hoofington.' The guard thought to himself as he returned to his post as soon as he took his break.

Chapter 7. Ponies past.
The day was fresh with morning dew on the lawn of the inn. Trixie was enjoying the bright sunshine and the smell of the morning air. Oddly the pie to the face the night prior didn't even enter her mind until she passed Sugar Cube Corner. She laughed to herself a little 'A harmless prank to have a laugh.' Trixie had pulled some pranks of her own before. Trixie recounted the pie she had washed off that night. The day was becoming overwhelmingly warm there was no breeze to ease the heat.
When Trixie arrived at the library Apple Jack was there and had agreed to take Trixie over to the farm to stay for as long as she was in Ponyville. The three got to work on the verity of tasks of the day. Trixie, Twilight, and Rainbow Dash were to help Fluttershy, and Apple Jack, as well as the regular lesson.
The Royal guards day shift had ended in Canterlot. He was going home to enjoy a drink and some reading before falling asleep. The guards wings were tired from flying around busy escorting the Princess all day. Passing by on the streets of Hoofington he noticed Trixie preforming, she issued a challenge to any pony that she could do anything better. Trixie immediately picked the guard out as someone she would challenge. The guard being who he was accepted the challenge. Many pies to the face latter he was defeated and humiliated. Swearing revenge at least in the most mild form of revenge he would humiliate her.
Trixie, Apple Jack, and Princess Twilight were settling Trixie into Sweet Apple Acres.
The lesson was to start when Rainbow Dash arrived, but wasn't due for another hour. The three ponies stood in a awkward silence for some time.
“So ya doin alright Trixie?” Apple Jack asked breaking the silence.
“Yes. Trixie is doing fine. How about yourself Apple Jack?” Trixie was not used to talking to Apple Jack. Thinking 'it is much easier to talk to Fluttershy.' Trixie was making small talk with a pony she had hurt along with her friends. This was very weird to say the least. When Rainbow dash arrived she was a little less than happy to be helping Trixie of all ponies, but she would always help her friends.
“Hey guys sorry I am late.” Rainbow dash rubbed a hoof behind her head.
“Its alright Dash.” Twilight looked to Trixie, she nodded that she was ready to start.
“Okay Rainbow Dash. Lets take a walk.” Rainbow tilted her head but landed and followed her friend. After walking for a good way into the apple orchard they stopped.
“Okay now Rainbow. If Trixie were to do something to humiliate me. What would you do?” Twilight said.
“I'd buck her strait to the moon. Why?” Rainbow asked slightly confused.
“See Trixie that's Loyalty, or close to it.” Trixie was confused at this.
“Bucking me to the moon is being loyal?” Rainbow laughed at this being amused at Trixies confusion.
“No. I mean that she would do that for me is loyalty.” Twilight corrected.
“So if both Trixie and I were your best friends Rainbow and Trixie tried to humiliate me. What then?” Twilight making it harder.
“Well as if I would ever be best friends with her even if she said she was sorry.” Rainbow scoffed.
“Yes agreed Trixie would never be friends with this hooligan.” Twilight face hoofed again.
“No No NO!!! I mean if you were, not that you are.” Twilight becoming slightly annoyed at the two bickering ponies.
“Oh well I don't know Twilight. Its like if you and Fluttershy were fighting. I don't know who I would defend. Your both my friends.” Trixie thinking about what it really meant to be friends.
“Well if Trixie had you two as friends Trixie would chose both.” Trixie said actually making Rainbow and Twilight think about how one would do that.
“Dash how would you handle that?” Twilight earning a confused look from both her friends, yes she did consider Trixie a friend.
“Well maybe try to show the both of you that it was pointless to fight.” Rainbow said unsure of it.
“Trixie agrees. There is no need to fight.” Twilight surprised at Trixie for saying that. Her of all ponies seemed to be intent on fighting or contests in some way. Getting a confused look from Rainbow dash.
“You think that even though you... never mind.” Rainbow stopped herself before she said something she might regret.
Trixie was working over the details on how she would be able to chose both. Writing it in her notebook that Twilight had given her for her (Classes) as Twilights student. 'The magic of friendship notebook' was the title written on the front cover. Rainbow Dash looked over her shoulder reading what Trixie had written.
“Hey this is mine get your own.” Barked Trixie.
“What I just wanted to see if you we plotting something.” Twilight rolling her eyes feeling that there would soon be a fight to break up. Just the thing she was trying to teach Trixie with. Only now it was going to happen, but instead of Rainbow or Trixie being put into a hard spot. It was going to end up Twilights responsibility to break them up.
“Today just keeps getting harder and harder.” Twilight chided herself about how she told Trixie the night before that it was going to be hard.
The months past into memory, but for one of the royal guard, the memory of being humiliated by one Great and Powerful Trixie was still fresh in his mind. His oath of revenge was to be had. but he couldn't do any such thing while on duty.
The royal guard was a vast assortment of ponies from earth ponies, to unicorns, and Pegasus ponies. There was one in particular that had a second task from all the other ponies in the entire reserve of the royal guard, he could make Princess Celestia laugh. His name was Jubilant light, he was a pure white Pegasus with a great sense of humor. Today was his day off from guard duty, so he decided to go around and play a few pranks. There were fewer joys he took than to gain a laugh at some pony else's expense. The pranks he pulled were harmless, most of the time gaining a laugh from the pony he was pranking. Today was going to be the day that Trixie was sorry for making a foal of him.
He took flight to Ponyville, arriving a few hours latter. Taking the time to divert to help some ponies that had broken a wheel on their carriage. His plan was first, very simply have Trixie slip on a banana peel, then to get pied in the face in full view of everyone, then to make her feel what he did when she first humiliated him. ' what could go wrong?' in his mind it was perfect. He immediately went to the market to acquire a banana, and the rest of the things he would need to make Trixies past catch up with her. Hearing all about the stories from other guards making Trixie out to be a villain.

Chapter 5. Trixie goes to Canterlot.
Trixie was waiting for the train, it was due at six thirty and it was six fifteen at the moment.
Trixie running through what would happen when she returned. Would Twilight be angry? Would she get thrown out of Ponyvile? Trixie didn't care right now all she needed was to get away and clear her head. The train arrived at exactly six thirty. Trixie looked to Ponyvile one last time before getting on the train and leaving. The train arrived in Canterlot station an hour latter. Trixie walking off and going strait to the Canterlot Garden to think.
Celestia was having a rough day. 'So many dignitary's with problems, and to top it off all my staff got sick.' Celestia complained in her mind about how the day was going so far. Only half way through the morning and it was going to be a long day.
Trixie was sitting on a bench inside the garden thinking. Somehow she unclouded her mind enough to realize that Trixie didn't have the kind of feelings she imagined, or convinced herself she had for Twilight. Her feelings were actually of gratefulness for saving her from both the Ursa and herself from the Alicorn amulet. Trixie convinced herself that it would be a good idea to hold feelings for Twilight.
Not that it was a bad idea, but the way in witch she did it was the wrong way.
That morning in Ponyvile Twilight found Trixies note.
“Ah. Well I hope that she doesn't try to come onto me again, That was weird.” Twilight said to Spike after reading the note.
“Well Twilight. I hope she doesn't come back.” Spike said grateful that Trixie wasn't in the library. She made Spike uncomfortable.
“Spike!! Trixie needs to come back I have a lot of lessons to catch her up on.”Twilight said taking her new job as teacher very seriously.
“Oh fine but Twilight. Can she not stay in the library?” Spike asked sheepishly.
“Okay Spike we can find somewhere else for her to stay.” Twilight said thinking that would actually be better keeping Trixie at a distance.
Celestia with Lunas help got all of the days royal business taken care of. Celestia was more than happy that the day hadn't become a disaster. She decided to take a walk to relax in the gardens. One of the places that Celestia could relax in. The Princess walked out onto the parapet of the castle and jumped off gliding down to the garden so she would not be bothered walking through the castle to get to the garden. Celestia landed and began her walk. Half way through the garden she saw Trixie blankly staring at a purple flower.
“Oh hello Trixie. Nice day to come to the gardens.” Celestia stated trying to make small talk before asking why she was in the Canterlot garden rather than in Ponyvile studying with Twilight.
Trixie didn't say a word as if she didn't even hear the Princess talking.
“Uh Trixie. Did you hear me?” Celestia asked closer and with more volume.
Trixie hung her head and sighed.
“Yes Trixie heard.” Trixie replied with a meek voice sounding like she really didn't want to talk to any pony.
“Then may I ask why your here and not with Twilight?” Celestia asked the azure mare.
“Trixie needed to think.” Trixie stated simply.
“Ah. That reminds me I would like to know more about you if you will humor me?” Celestia walked over to the seemingly depressed Trixie.
“Trixie does not feel like talking to another Princess if its all the same to you.” Trixie really not wanting to talk about here feelings again to any pony. She felt to out of place like fire in a bathtub full of ice.
“Its not the same. I know your not evil but you have done some bad things before. I wish to know that my subjects wont be terrorized again.” Celestia had read all about Trixie and her mistakes from Twilight.
“If you must know Princess. Trixie confessed feelings for Twilight that Trixie truly didn't have.”
Trixie said hoping that would be the end of it so she didn't have to deal with any pony and return to her thinking. Celestia raised an eyebrow at the blue mare.
“So you thought you liked her and didn't?” Celestia inquired.
“Trixie just said that. Trixie likes Twilight but not the way Trixie thought she did.” Trixie said still feeling the pain of being shot down so easily.
“I understand my little pony.” Celestia said reassuringly.
“Do you really?” Trixie asked not seeing how the Princess of the sun could understand Trixie from such a generic explanation.
“Yes. I once too had a crush. Very long ago mind you. My crush did and didn't share my feelings and shot me down on the basis that I was his ruler.” Celestia said sweetly but also meaningfully.
“Ah Trixie sees.” Trixie know understanding where the Princess was coming from.
“Walk with me Trixie.” Celestia offered Trixie with a smile.
Trixie nodded and they began to walk Celestia talking to Trixie about some of her past. Trixie listening to The Princess she had never had a chance to actually talk to Celestia ever. Trixie had actually always admired Celestia for everything she had done, or what the history books said she did. Trixie wished to be like Celestia at one point. Kind, gentle, powerful, loving, and most of all understanding. Trixie gave up on that when she saw how cruel the world really was. When Trixie was in her second year of school both her mom and dad died in a accident leaving Trixie a orphan.
Trixie grew up in the Canterlot Orphanage being bullied by the other fillies for not having her cutie mark when she was young. Trixie then giving up on all her aspirations about being nice and instead opting for being The Great and Powerful Trixie to seem more intimidating when she was young. Eventually becoming who she is today. Trixie never had a problem being a show pony going from town to town and making enough money to live how she wanted. Now she was confused hurt alone and strangely finding some peace in her crazy new life. Between being Twilight's student and now actually having a friend not knowing exactly to feel about that. Trixie was racking her mind for a solution to fix what she felt was something wrong with her.
Trixie and Princess Celestia talked for a few hours making Trixie think about others witch Trixie normally didn't do. Unbelievably Trixie seemed to have more to talk about to Celestia than to any other pony she had ever met. Celestia putting Trixie at ease with her comforting words. Celestia had been through a lot, more than Trixie ever imagined with Celestia being a Princess. Trixie had always thought of Celestia as someone who had never had any normal hardships as others would because she was the ruler of all of Equestria, waited on horn to hoof by all manner of servants. Trixie came to find out just how much like any other pony the Princess actually was. Trixie decided that she would find some pony else that Trixie actually had feelings for to swoon over.
Latter that day Trixie went shopping. She got a apology card for Twilight, and a blank card for Rarity so Trixie could fill it in latter with at the very least thank you. Trixie quickly got over her now lost feelings for Twilight. Trixie then decided to return to Ponyvile to continue her studies with her new teacher Twilight.
Trixie boarded the train and headed back to Ponyvile. Trixie was sitting next to a elderly pony knitting a scarf. About half way to Ponyvile the train stopped.
“Sorry every pony the track is broken. It wont be till the repair crew comes and fixes it that we will be able to continue.” One of the trains crew came back and told every pony.
Trixie didn't want to wait she had to get back and at least try to fix her mess she made with Princess Twilight before it was to late. Trixie packed her saddlebags, bringing them on the off chance she would have to hoof it from anywhere. She departed the train and set off.
“Its not too much farther to Ponyvile from here.” Trixie said as she began to hoof it.
Trixie was walking along the tracks when a strange sound came out of the forest beyond her view.
“Hello? Is any pony there?” Trixie asked frightened.
Nothing replied so Trixie kept walking. The sound came again only closer. Trixie jumped with a yelp looking around to see what it was, nothing. Trixie was shaking as she kept walking trying to keep her composure. The sound came again, Trixie began to run faster and faster as the sound came again.
Soon Trixie was in a dead sprint trying to evade the creature coming for her. Trixie screamed and ran so fast that whatever it was couldn't keep up anymore arriving in Ponyvile a few moments latter.
The guard from the night of the competition was rolling on the ground laughing so hard he had tears coming out of his eyes. ' That was the best prank I have ever pulled on any pony ever.' The guard thought to himself as he watched Trixie almost wet herself running from his bad broken kazoo playing.
Trixie immediately went to the Ponyvile inn and hid from whatever was chasing her. She rented a room for another night. Before going to sleep Trixie hoof delivered the cards. One to Twilight saying that Trixie was sorry for the way she acted. The second to Rarity thanking her for trying to help.
Rarity asked Trixie not to tell Twilight about the little white lie. Trixie agreed and went to the inn.
Sinking into bed Trixie smiled at what she felt was a very productive day.
