Prologue Part 1: The Story of Starry Light

Starry Light was still rolled up in his bed in his sheets on a Saturday morning not wanting to get out of bed like the lazy colt he was. Starry Light was a 9 year old Pegasi colt who didn’t have his cutie-mark and who could barely fly, he could fly but not well. Rolling out of bed onto his hooves and his blanket dropping off of him, he wore a blank interested expression on his face, his green tinted Wonderbolt junior goggles around his neck. Letting out a small yawn and ruffling his hair with his hoof brushing it back to its original state. Starry began to walk over to his door and reaching for his black and big white star beanie hat; he put it on, fitting it ever so smoothly, his head just the way he liked it while heading over to his dresser to grab the bracelet he got a week ago, on his ninth birthday. Wrapping the bracelet around his wrist and locking the button into its slot, Starry looked down at it with a grin and then trotted over to the door opening it and exiting his room.

Both Starry and his sister, Scarlet, were both rare cases in their family. Starry was a rather small coat for his age and his gray coat and green, while his sister was a red Unicorn with a long black mane and black eyes. Scarlet’s cutie-mark was rose with needles and water droplets on it, representing her love of roses and her growing magic. Her anger made it all too easy to get her cutie-mark. She obtained it last summer at the beach and Starry had pissed her off to a very high boiling point. She used her magic to levitate and sharpen roses she had brought along with her to chase him down and cut him. She, overall, succeeded.

                   |Now back to our story with Starry Light!|

Starry knocked on his sister’s door to wake her up for breakfast like usual. After a few moments of waiting he turned around and bucked the door, causing it to open. He turned around and was faced with sharp roses and an angry red unicorn glaring at him with an unhappy expression.

‘’U-uh...Sis it’s time for breakfast...’’, said Starry. ‘’I know that dummy, jeez you don’t have to bucking kick my door open.’’, said Scarlet with an annoyed tone. ‘’I know that, but you clearly get up out of bed sooo quickly”, said Starry with a sarcastic tone and expression. ‘’Whatever I’ll be out in a minute, just go….’’, said Scarlet. She then closed the door in front of her impatient brother.

Rolling his eyes he trotted to the dining room table and climbed up to his favorite brown seat near the window and began waiting for his breakfast to be served, as per usual. He heard a voice from the kitchen and recognized it to be his mothers. ‘’Moooooom, is breakfast is done yet….?’’, asked Starry impatiently’. ‘’Almost dear, just wait about 10 more minutes okay sweetie?’’, said his mom. He placed his hoofs on the table taping them against the hardwood, bored and growing impatient. Letting out a large sigh, he put his hoof on his cheek now sporting a irritated expression waiting for his breakfast and his sister.

|5 Minutes pass of waiting|

Scarlet emerged from her room and was walking down the hallway approaching the breakfast table. She took her seat diagonally from her brother who was face down moaning in hunger.

‘’What’s up with you?’’, said Scarlet. ‘’I’m BUCKING HUNGRY! CELESTIA DAMN IT!’’, said Starry angrily. ‘’Watch your mouth dear!’’, said their Mom. Letting out a sigh and a face-hoof he replied, ‘’Sorry Mom’’. ‘’You know...it’s not that bad having just a little patience right?’’, said Scarlet. ‘’Hey! If I wasn’t patient I wouldn’t be practicing my flying and figuring out what my special talent is now would I?’’, said Starry with a snort.  ‘’I suppose that is true, well for you anyway’’ Said Scarlet giggling.

Their mother emerged from the kitchen, floating with 2 plates of dandelion sandwiches and organic fried eggs. The Unicorn was a gray color, same as Starry, with emerald green eyes and a long black and white mane; her name was Bellsom Light. Starry threw his hoofs into the air screaming, ‘’Oh THANK CELESTIA! FINALLY!’’. He then began digging into his sandwich immediately, as if he hadn’t eaten in several days. He was literally slamming food into his mouth and his cheeks were stuffed.

‘’Honestly, dear you shouldn’t just pile food into your mouth like that. You might choke sweetie!’’, said Bellsom worried. Bellsom levitated some Orange Juice to them and poured it slowly into Starry’s and Scarlet’s glasses. ‘’Oh, hey Mom? Can I go out to the fields today and practice my flying? Pleaaaaaaaaase?’’, said starry with a big smile, having bits of food still covering his cheeks. Scarlet was silently eating her food not making a single noise. ‘’ Only if you are back by the time the streetlights are on, Starry”, said Bellsom. ‘’Ah sweet, thanks mom!’’, said Starry excitedly. As Starry finished off the rest of his food, he jumped down from the seat and began heading off to the balcony.

He and his family lived on the 5th floor of an apartment in the city of Manehattan. Sliding the door open with his small hoofs, he headed out to the balcony. Looking back inside at his mom and sister, he yelled ‘’Heeeey Mom watched this!’’. Her attention turned to her son and she began to watch him closely. He started to climb the balcony edge, falling back with his eyes closed and a smirk on his face. A scream could be heard from the kitchen and a call of his name. The extremely worried mare ran to the balcony looking below to see her son falling with a smile on his face. ‘’Starry!? What’s the matter with you!?!?’’, yelled out Bellsom. Starry began to flap his wings, eyes shooting open, and a grin bigger than before. Starry began turning and rebalancing himself to pivot his body forward into the sky, going into a dive towards the balcony but then quickly pivoting his body away from the balcony quickly switching into a loop in the sky. All his mom could do is watch worried and amazed at once. She was joined on the balcony by Scarlet who watched her brother fly and dive across the sky scaring their mother. She couldn’t help but let out a giggle. ‘’ Honestly...that boy is going to get hurt if he doesn't be more careful. He’s just like his father at that age”, said Bellsom.

Starry began to fly away from his apartment building approaching the large city of Manehattan. The wind ringing in Starry’s ears and blowing his mane back was the best feeling he had ever experienced while flying. He still wore that same grin when he dropped from the balcony. ‘’ Ha-ha, that dive was a little too slow; but, meh I’ll work on it!’’, said Starry loudly. Gazing below he was over a few large buildings and decided to walk the rest of the way to the field, seeing how it wasn’t too far from where he was. Heading down to the sidewalk and landing somewhat roughly, the sounds of the city could be heard loudly and quite obviously. Starry began to trot down the street, avoiding as many ponies as possible trying to make the trip to the fields easy and fast.
