Chance

"Where am I?" That was the first thing I asked myself after waking up to the smell of fresh grass and the moistness of morning dew. The truth is, I don't know where I am. I was laying in the middle of a small clearing with trees towering all around. My apartment isn't near any forests, the closest one being a good few hours drive away, so I cant be close to home. Feeling a surge of panic pass through me, I got to my feet and plunged my hands into my pocket to make sure that I had any of my belongings. I pulled out my keys, SmartPhone and wallet. The wallet contained a small amount of cash, ruling out the possibility that I was mugged and left here. Returning my wallet and keys to my pockets, I then turned my attention to my phone. Hitting the home button, I was greeted with a familiar sight of the moon and stars, my background. I've always had a fascination with stars and the moon but that's not important right now. The time read 06:48AM. "Wow that's early" I muttered to myself, aware that being a late riser, I would of woken up at double this time later. "Oh... fully charged, that's new... and no signal...great" Okay, so I'm in an unknown place without a clue of finding my way home. What happened to me that got me in this predicament? As I began to think about the events of the day before, my head was engulfed in a sharp pain. I cried out, clutching my head. "Why can't I remember?!" I shouted through gritted teeth. I gave in and stopped my brain from trying to locate the memory. The pain instantly stopped and I let out a satisfied sigh of relief. I guess trying to think about what had happened was a no go. So instead of looking back, let's go forward! Bad choice.

Picking a random direction, I started to walk towards the trees that surrounded the clearing. The trees stood tall and had a sinister look to them. Instead of being the lush green that you'd find on a normal tree in a forest, these trees had a sickly dark green color on the leaves. The branches were short and jagged. It looked more like a swamp than a forest. A few minutes of walking in between trees
