Island of the Lost

Dear Diary,

Today, Fluttershy and I erected a camp. We built a fire and made a mat out of clothes we brought. Fluttershy is still upset about the crash and breaking the radio. We ate some of the food I packed. We will need to make it last. Some debris from the plane washed ashore. We propped up a wing with another piece of plane to make a shelter.

Twilight Sparkle stared out at the ocean. The sea breeze blew through her hair. Fluttershy had wandered off wherever. Twilight wasn't really paying attention. She just knew she had gone. Twilight heard the sound of galloping and turned her head to see what was wrong.

Fluttershy was half running, half flying up the beach. She called "TwilightTwilightTwilightTwilight!"

"What is it?"

"Come quick! Grab the first aid kit!"

Without hesitation, Twilight grabbed the first aid kit and rushed after Fluttershy. Twilight was looking out at the water again. The current had washed more of the debris up this side of the shore. Fluttershy must have found something. Fluttershy reached her destination and then turned to Twilight. "Hurry up! Help me!"

"What is-"

Twilight saw Rainbow Dash. She ran up alongside her and opened the first aid kit. Rainbow would be happy to know her wings were okay, if she were concious. Rainbow must have survived the explosion because of how athletic she was. She probably swam faster than everypony else and made it far enough away from the explosion. Twilight assessed the damages. Rainbow had a gash in her forehead and a piece of plane jammed in her shoulder. Twilight brought out the gauze and began wrapping it around the debris. She had read a first aid book recently and the procedures were still fresh in her mind. Next she placed a large bandage across Rainbow Dash's forehead. Fluttershy was in a daze, she held Rainbow Dash's hoof and whimpered. Twilight quickly turned to the sea and wet a cloth from the first aid kit, cleaning the blood around both wounds. She wanted the bandages on there first, saltwater would burn otherwise.

Twilight had finished bandaging up Rainbow Dash. She looked to Fluttershy "Help me carry her to camp."

"O-o-o-k-kkay..." Fluttershy sobbed

They lifted Rainbow Dash onto each other's backs. They slowly carried her all the way to their makeshift camp. They set Rainbow down on their mat and hoped for the best. Fluttershy took some of her fresh water and soaked an article of clothing. She placed it on Rainbow's head, dabbing for blood. Twilight spoke again "Fluttershy, can you stay and watch Rainbow Dash. I'm going to see if there are any others."

"Okay."

Twilight galloped up and down the beach. She spotted a few things they needed, including something great. A battery operated phone. Twilight also found scrap pieces of cloth, which they could use as bandages, if need be. She stumbled across something that made her vomit, though. Rarity's leg. She probably isn't alive anymore. Twilight continued up the beach. She tried to think of who could have made it. Applejack definitely had the same athleticism as Rainbow Dash, but there was no sign of her. Pinkie Pie was...random. Her Pinkie sense may have saved her, but there was no real way to tell. Twilight had almost gone halfway around the island before deciding she needed to get back to Fluttershy.

On Twilight's way back, she looked at the forest. This seemed like the cliche deserted island with tropical trees and ferns. Twilight spotted a banana tree. She looked up the tree to see if she could find some bananas. There was one whole bunch, with about twelve bananas. This would help them last a little bit longer.

Twilight arrived at camp with her bounty. Fluttershy sat, mumbling to Rainbow Dash about something. Twilight couldn't hear what she was saying. Twilight called to Fluttershy "Look what I found!" Fluttershy looked up and a small smile accented her face. Twilight set down the supplies. She tried fiddling with the phone but became very upset. The phone was dead. The batteries were gone. Twilight tossed the phone into the sand in frustration.

Fluttershy left Rainbow Dash's side and went to Twilight. She embraced Twilight and began trying to comfort her

"There, there, it's okay. Everything's okay." She reached to stroke Twilight's mane. Twilight snapped at her "Dammit Fluttershy! I'm not an animal!"

Fluttershy withdrew herself. She left Twilight to go to the shelter. She knelt down inside, facing away from Twilight. Twilight could hear her faint sobs. She ought to apologize to Fluttershy. Maybe later. Twilight eyed their supplies. She took the knife from the pile and headed off into the jungle.

Whatever Twilight had found, she had pissed it off. The raging beast flew through the jungle after Twilight. Twilight could now see the shore. The roars of the creature echoed behind her. The beach was just a few steps away. Twilight leapt forward and the beast leapt after her. It tackled her and sent them into a roll.

Pinkie Pie ended on top of Twilight. Twilight was suprised to see the pink pony. Pinkie had dressed herself in a fearsome costume. She wore a grass skirt and a ferocious wooden mask. Twilight gasped for air. She had run quite a distance from Pinkie. Twilight managed to get out "Pinkie...why...were you...chasing...me?"

"Because you were running, you silly filly!" She hopped off of Twilight. "Isn't this great? We got an island vacation instead of dumb old San Franciscolt!"

"Pinkie, did you see any of the others?"

"Oh I saw Rarity here and there." Pinkie joked. "Yeah, I don't think she made it off the plane."

Twilight almost vomited again at the thought of more pieces of Rarity. "Have you seen Applejack?"

"Yeah! She's just like me, enjoying the island. She's lying on the beach, way over there." Pinkie pointed with a hoof off into the distance.

"Is she alive?"

"I dunno. She looked so peaceful, I didn't want to interrupt her."

"Then let's go check." Twilight turned to run down the beach, but then looked back at Pinkie "And get rid of that freaky mask!"

"What's wrong with it?"

"It's just creepy."

Twilight galloped down the beach, spotting Applejack fairly quickly. Applejack was seemingly unharmed, so Twilight chanced trying to wake her "Applejack, Applejack" she shook her gently. Applejack's eyes fluttered open. Pinkie pushed her way in "OOGA BOOGA BOOGA!" She shouted at Applejack. Applejack began to scream "The Devil! The Devil! Celestia save me!". Twilight pushed Pinkie aside. "Applejack it's okay. It's just Pinkie."

"Oh mah stars Twilight. Pinkie scared the livin' daylights out of me."

"It's okay now. Can you walk?"

"Ah think so."

Applejack stood up on wobbly legs. Twilight dashed to her side to balance her. "Thanks Twi." She said. They walked back to camp, Applejack leaned heavily on Twilight. At camp, Fluttershy had returned to Rainbow Dash's side. She waved at the returning ponies. Pinkie waved back. "Hey Fluttershy we got Applejack!"

"Yes Pinkie, I saw. Is she okay?"

"We think so! She isn't dead!"

"Oh yes... I saw."

Applejack was allowed to fall over onto the mat. "Ah'm mighty thankful fer yer help Twi."

"It wasn't a problem."

Twilight sat on the mat. She looked out at the sunset. There were now three more mouths to feed. This was a lot easier when it was just her and Fluttershy. They divided up their rations. Food was running low. Twilight would have to venture back out into the jungle tomorrow. The next thing she met probably wouldn't be Pinkie. She hoped nothing else was on this island. The sun sank below the horizon, warmed by the fire, Twilight lay down beside her friends. She pulled out her diary for the next entry.

Dear Diary,

My friends are all back together. Rainbow Dash is unconscious. She should be fine. We only had one casualty. Tomorrow we are going to build a grave. I'm going to miss Rarity. Tomorrow I'm going back into the jungle. Pinkie Pie offered to go with me. I told her to stay behind and guard Fluttershy and Cripplejack. I hate to put it like that, but Applejack is trying too hard. She wants to help, but she can't. I hope she understands. I also hope there isn't anything unsavory in the jungle. I'd hate to stumble into something's den.
