//-------------------------------------------------------// A New Drake in Town -by unknown99- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Rescue //-------------------------------------------------------// The Rescue      The sun was shining on Sweet Apple Acres, and on the picnic of a young teenaged drake and a lovely wight unicorn. But this was no ordinary picnic for the dragon, oh no today he finally had the confidence (and he had a growth spurt this last month along with getting his wings with he couldn't use yet but was taking lessons from Rainbow Dash which is were the confidence came from) to tell the mare of his dreams his feelings. Honestly who could blame him in the past for being to shy to tell her before, after all this is Rarity were talking about, the most beautiful pony in Ponyvill.      "How do you like your daffodils sandwich Rarity?", asked Spike in a deep voice (which also came with the growth spurt)      " Its just divine darling, how is your um... what did you call it again?", she replied.      " Its a triple rubby, cristal caramel covered diamond, with emerald sprinkles", he said eating the diamond treat in one bite," and its awesome!",spike stated, half of the caramel on his face.      Rarity couldn't help but let out a girlish giggle, "hold still you got cristal caramel all over your face, let me get it.", she said as she took a papertowel, licked it and started to carefully wipe away the sticky mess.      "Thanks", the dragon said sheepishly, "so Rarity I've been meaning to tell you something... and its kind of personal", he now could feel the butterflies in the pit of his stomach. He just sat there a moment, jaw open starring into the two diamonds she called eyes. When he saw something red in the corner of his eye fly by and disappear from site. "What was that?"      "What was what dear?",Rarity said confused. When he saw two more blurs from the other corner of his eye, this time one large and black, the other whight and thin.      "There goes two more, no.", his face was one of disbelief.      Spike's hart skipped a half a dozen beats. Three adult dragons stud before her and it only took a split second to identity them.      The leader a tall muscular red dragons name was Garble, (as for the other two they don't talk much so call them thug 1 and thug 2)thug 1 was just as tall but very thin and whight scaled, thug 2 was just the opposite. With a large waste and was short, with black scales.      "Run Rarity, run!", Spike shouted grabbing her hoof and ran and ran.      "That's right run away since you can't fly yet!", thug 1 shouted.      "I said I do the talking brimstone for brains!", the red dragon said hitting thug 1 on the  top of the head.      "Hay Garble weird they go?", thug 2 asked there already angry leader.      "Danmit you let them get away, stupid, stupid, stupid", they all stud there for a moment,"why are you still standing here, go find them", as the two took flight Garble stud and mumbled ,"those two clawheads couldn't find them if they were in there claws.", and with that he took off. ...      Rarity ran as fast as she could but she still wasn't as fast as Spike. He was running like Pinkie Pie when the cakes were giving free cupcakes at Sugercube Corner, he knew exactly were he was going and he wouldent stop till he got there. They ran for what seemed like hours, but was really only about half an hour.      As he ran up one last hill he sighed in relief when he saw the big red barn he had been sprinting to,"well hide in the Apple family barn for a while.", he told Rarity as she was two feet from the top.      "Good... the... the sooner we get in there the better", she said in between breaths.      "Sorry, here let me carry you...", she stopped him mid sentence.      "Its quite alright dear, you look out of breath yourself, let's just get there and be done."      So they did, and as soon as they got there Spike opened the door for Rarity and closed it behind him. Inside was just as you would think it would look, very large with bails of hay everywhere you'd look.      "Well its not the first place I would have gone but its definitely better than out with those, those ruffians. Don't you think darling?", she asked the now pacing back and fourth across the barn,"I know that face, what are you thinking Spike?"      "Its my fault there chasing us"      "Spike we've been through this, during the dragon..."      "I'm not talking about that... yesterday I was looking for the diamond I ate earlier today. Shortly after finding the gem I found them looking for gems as well, I thought I lost them but they must have followed me. Then they must of never lost me, and then waited for the right time"      "That does not explain why they followed you"      "Because they can, because they know I can't win, we got lucky before but now they know the area were in its just a mater of time.", he said deep into thought ,"I need to tell you something, actually its what I was going to tell you before they interrupted our picnic", he took a deep breath in and let it out."Rarity?"      "Yes Spike.", she said there eyes making contact once more.      "I ", that's all he could say before being silenced by a low voice and a thud      THUD      "Come out come out where ever you are, Spiky-Wiky!", the voice boomed      "Oh come on!", Spike shouted in frustration.      Just then the big doors to the barn swung open and the red dragon come into view on all fours,"There you are you little...", he was cut off by some thing hitting him in the face,and a cloud of dust kicked up. Both Rarity and Spike could only sit there frozen for what seemed like ages, lessening to the sounds of fighting going on behind the curtain of dust.      When the dust settled down, what the two saw made there jaws drop. Garble was in bad shape he had cuts all along his body, he had several fangs missing, his right arm was broke, and he had a limp. He called to thugs 1 and 2 with a roar, and on que they picked him up and carried him off.      But the most shocking thing was that there was a black dragon just a half a foot taller than Spike, with big bat like wings with a wing span as wide as he was tall(which was about six feet). He had red spines that ran from the back of his neak to the tip of his long tail. His claws were red with blood that made the two quiver with fear. A few seconds went by that felt like hours to the frightened pair.      Apple Jack came running from the east field like a bat out of hell screaming,"Wat in tar nation is goin' on here?"      "Who are you?", both Spike and Rarity said together.      "My name is Drake", he said turning to face them his yellow eyes looking straight into Rarity's,"and I'm new around here" //-------------------------------------------------------// Introductions //-------------------------------------------------------// Introductions      Spike walked with Apple Jack back into town after his near death experience, with Rarity and Drake right in front of them. He wouldn't of cared, that is if Rarity wasn't acting like a little filly showering him with questions.      "So your a teenaged, male dragon, which is called a drake, and your name is Drake?", Rarity asked just inches away from the dragon as she flirted.      The purple dragon walking right behind his crush had mix emotions about Drake. On one hand he had saved both his and Rarity's life, on the other he was doing what he couldn't do in 11 years in a mater of minutes. He couldn't desire whether or not to hug him or hate him. He thought back to the events beforehand. After he had made his dramatic introduction, show off, he practically ran to Rarity. He got all close and they stared at one another. I brushed myself off and introduced myself, he stood up and shook my hand. Than as if on que Rarity jumped up and introduced herself a little to loud. Than it was AJ's turn, which didn't take long. Than Rarity brought up that he must meet everypony else. Talk, talk, talk then AJ remembered that Rainbow Dash was hoisting a Dairying Do bookclub meeting at the library. But than AJ remembered that Big Mac and Apple Bloom would wa nt to meet him. Yada, yada, yada two hours later and hear I am following the two. Why do I even bother.       His train of thought was interrupted by, well a train. The four had passed by the Ponyvill train station on there way to the library were he had lived from when he was 5 to now. The walk was longer than Spike ever thought possible.      AJ noticed Spikes mood right away,"Hay whats getin you down sugercube", she said in a concerned yet casual voice.      "Nothing just... I... I don't know",he said kicking dust up.     She took a second to follow his gaze,"Oohh... is somedragon a bit jealous?", she teased.      "I am not!", he argued.      "So ya are a bit jealous.", she continued,"its alrigh I won't tell nopony.",she whispered      "Thanks", he said relieved.      The group walked for another twenty minutes. As they passed Sugercube Corner they all herd the loudest possible gasp ever then felt a wave of air that made Rarity fall, and as if planed Drake caught Her in mid fall.      "Haaaa!!!"      Vvvwosh!      "It looks like your my hero yet again darling"      "Just trying to help",Drake said the scales on his cheeks some how turning a slight shade of red."but what I'd like to know what in the hell that was?"      "That would be Pinkie Pie, pretty soon you'll have the party of your life.",said Spike with a smerk on his face.      "Is that a good thing?", he asked consciously.      "Darn totin!",AJ said patting him on the back.      "Pinkie Pie's parties are to absolutely to die for",Rarity said a smile on her face. ...      The trip from Sugarcube Corner to the library only lasted ten minutes. As they approached the Golden Oaks library, which was ironically a giant oak tree. They could hear Dash freaking out, only ever other word could be understood. However her rant was stopped short by Rarity nocking on the door. A few moments Twilight Sparkle (Princes Twilight Sparkle) opened the door to the library. As soon as Drake saw the lavender alicorn he was mesmerized, much like Spike when he first saw Rarity.      "Hello Rarity, oh... and who is this handsome new Drake?", she said in a kind voice.      "Um... my name... my name is Drake!", he said trying to be smooth after a rocky start.      "Hello Drake, I'm Princess Twilight Sparkle, pleased to meet you.", she said trying to be as proper as can be.      "Princess!", Drake exclaimed, his eyes darted to her sides to see her wings, than back at the head to see her horn. It didn't take but a second to see he made a mistake, and quickly bowed,"your Majesty"      Twilight giggled," Oh that's quite alright, you don't need to bow"      "Oh", he said standing up feeling sheepish,"thanks"      "Where are my manners please come in", she said feeling sheepish herself.      After Rarity and Drake entered Twilight saw her number one assistant and AJ standing outside as well,"I'm sorry I didn't see you two out here as well come on in", she said to her friends. When they all got inside Twilight brought them to the living room were the bookclub meeting was being held. "Please sit down", she said motioning to the two sofas.      "So who's the new guy?",Rainbow said pointing to Drake.      "His name is Drake, and we brought him here to meet you and Twilight dear", Rarity said before the dragon could speak. The next Two and a half hours were sent asking questions and telling stories, most of which Spike toned out. Most of which that is.      "So why'd ya come ta Ponyvill?", AJ finally asked.      "Honestly... I'm looking for my sibling.", he said as though ashamed.      This got Spikes attention, yet he didn't know why but his hart fluttered at the statement.      "A sister or a brother?" Twilight asked      "I don't know."he said flatly.      "You can tell us sugercube, we won't judge", AJ said putting a hoof on his shoulder.      "I was only a year old when it happened", he said taking a deep breath and continued," my parents just had another egg, and we were all living on a mountain on the far Reaches of Equestria. We were there hiding from a group of dragons who were raising an army of dragons. They needed eggs and hatchlings. In others words me and my siblings egg. They found us after a week, five dragons agents my parents.", tears were now in his eyes," I watched my parents slaughtered in front of me.",tears were flowing like a river now, but he still continued with his sad tail." They took me and the egg, they separated us, put us in carts and we were sent away with other hatchlings and eggs.", he took another deep breath and wiped his eyes," they thought us how to fight and survive. They tried to break me but they couldn't, my hate for them was to great. Then one night about a year ago I killed the guard that watched me and four others.",there came a gasp from everypony in the room,"We went and freed all the other young dragons, the best of us staid and killed the rest of are capturers. After the battle I had found there leader's journal. He had wrote that the date after my capture that the cart that was carrying my siblings egg had been attacked by members of the royal guard. Only one egg was found missing, and it had the exact description of my siblings egg. I've been looking since." He was all the way calm by now,"well, that's why I came here, I felt something calling me here, then I found Spike and Rarity in troble."      Everypony just sat there for a wile, and let the story sink in. Twilight finally broke the silence," You know, i could get the guard reports from that timeframe if you want, you could find your brother in days with the help of the royal guard."     "You would do that for me?", he asked looking up at her.      "Of course, Spike take a letter", Twilight said.      As if out of nowhere the purple dragon pulled out a quill and paper,"ready"      "Dear Princess Celestia, a new dragon has appeared in Ponyvill looking for his sibling. We need to know if a dragon egg was rescued by the Royal guard... how many years ago did this happen Drake?", she asked.      "Over sixteen years ago.", he replide.      This made Spike's hart skip a beat, he was sixteen years old.      "Alright... was rescued by the Royal guard Over sixteen years ago with a description of... what did the egg look like?", she asked interrupting her assistant once more.      "The shell was purple with green dots.",he replied back.      Spike almost fainted.      Twilight was stand but continued,"Okay, with a description of a purple shell with green dots. Sincerely, Princess Sparkle", she had to sit down.      As Spike sent the letter they all sat in silence for half a hour. Until Spike looked sick and let out a berp of green flame. Returning him to normal and lacking a letter appear. Twilight picked it up an read out loud:       Dear Twilight,      To answer your questions, yes there was an egg rescued sixteen years ago matching your description. However I think you know who's egg that was, after all he is...      She read the name to her self before reading it aloud," your number one assistant." //-------------------------------------------------------// Brotherhood //-------------------------------------------------------// Brotherhood      Everypony sat in the Golden Oaks library in science, nopony new what to do next. A bombshell of life changing information had just hit, and the one's it most affected froze as they found out, they were brothers. They were all snapped out of there trances by what sounded like a gunshot.      BOOOM!!!      The entire library was decorated with in seconds,"Time to party Pinkie stile!", said the over excited pink made who some how popped up out of nowhere, with her party cannon ( as usual) the only one startled by the surprise appearance was Drake. Who practically jumped ten feet in the air.      Seeing his newly found brother scared half to death out of the corner of his eye snapped Spike out of a trance." I have to be alone right now.", he mumbled to everyponys surprise and ran so fast upstairs that even Dash was impressed by his speed.      "Well that was... awkward... I'll go make sure he's okay", Twilight said running after the dragon.      "This isn't how all parties start here is it?", Drake asked awkwardly. ...      "Spike please open the door", Twilight said just above a whisper," Spike I'm coming in whether you like it or not.",she stated bluntly, it seams that Twilghts patience only lasts for about ten minutes. After all that's about how long she had been standing at the door to the teenager's room, it took less than a second to unlock the door with her magic and step inside.      As you could imagine Spikes room was like, well like any teenager's room. It was dark, cool, dirty, and smelt like somepony took a peace month old pizza and stuffed it into a gym sock, then put spray on deodorant all over it. However that wasn't the bad part, the bad part was that Spike wasn't there. Then again that wasn't to bad either, because the window was open with fresh claw marks going up the side of the house. At least he wasn't half way across town and only on the top branches of the tree.      With a few flaps of her now somewhat skilled wigs she was hovering over a large branch that had a scaly figure sitting on it his back facing her. She glided down with ease and sat next to him as she looked at the setting sun, "It beautiful, the sunset I mean", she mumbled. She couldn't help felling nervous, being next to somepony, or rather some dragon, that she cared about in the romantic scene.      "Ya it is", he said without even looking at her,"sometimes I get lonely before the sun goes down and I come ou t here to watch the sun set, then I gaze at the stars, for hours at a time"      Hearing Spike talk of his oasis after dark just gave Twilight butterflies, yet she didn't know why. "So... do you want to talk about why you ran away from down stairs?"      "I was scared"      "Scared of what?"      "That I would cry in front of every one"      "Do you mean cry in front of Rarity, you know she would never think any less of you for crying"      "It wasn't Rarity that I was wearied about", he said in a small voice.      "Than who?", she asked putting her head on his shoulder, partly to relax him and partly because she felt the urge to be closer to him.      "Drake, I was scared out of my mine that I would give the wrong first impression as his little brother.", he replied weakly, and some what choking up at the end of his sentence.      "Oh, Spike your an amazing dragon, your smart, kind, helpful, and goodhearted there's no reason for you to think that he would think any littler of you.", by the time she finished her thought she realized why she was felling strange around him. 'No that can't be... but it does make sense... I've, I've hidden feelings four him', the more she thought on the idea the more it became clear.      "You really think so?"      "I know so"      "Well we should probably be getting back to the others than", he shifted his weight to clime back down, when he felt a hoof stop him from doing so      "Spike do you think maybe we could... stay out here a wile longer, just until the sun goes down?", she asked, sounding a little more needing than she ment to.      "Sure, why not." ...      Meanwhile... as Twilight went after Spike everypony, and dragon just sat there until Pinkie looked like she was about to explode with excitement.      "Sssoooooo... why did Spike run away, why did Twi follow him, when did you arrive in town, why are your scales black, how many scales do you have, how long is your wing span, do you eat jems, if you do which ones your favorite, how many teeth do you have, aaaaand... what color am I thinking of?", asked Pinkie all in one breath and in a row.      "Now hold on sugar cube, don't be goin' off an confusing the pour guy...", AJ was cutoff mid sentence by Drake.      "Its no trouble, now let's see...", he stopped to think a moment," in order from first to last question. We don't know, she went to see what was wrong, I got here this afternoon, because my father's were black, three million two hundred three, six feet, I can't decide, fifty three, and all of them.", he responded just as fast as she asked them.      "Wow a hero, a gentiledrake, and a good listener, you are one interesting dragon Drake I may have to keep you all to myself.", Rarity said blushing.      "I try", he said shaking of the compliment like it was nothing.      "And modest, your the complete package", this time she said it batting her eyelashes.      Yet again he thought nothing of it.      Before anything else could be said Twilight walked back in with Spike following close behind. Spike was the first to speak,"I'm sorry I ran off like that, I just kind of freaked out."      "There's no reason ta be sorry, like you said you freaked out", Dash said trying to comfort him.      "Ya ya just needed time ta think",Applejack said giving her two bits.      "Now, let's hit this party started!", Pinkie all but shouted turning on some music. ...      The party party lasted for two hours in which Pinkie Pie was brought up to speed on what had happened, Fluttershy arrived with Angle, and much fun was had. However the fun didn't last forever as everypony had to leave, all but Rarity gave short goodbyes and left.      "Okay boys I'm going to bed and I'm sure you to wouldn't mind talking for a wile. So figure out who is sleeping were and see you in the morning.", Twilight said as she walked up the stairs.      "Okay Twilight goodnight", mumbled Spike like it was nothing, which it wasn't. But Drake was lost in her voice, thinking it came from an angle rather than a pony      "Goodnight princess", he said hearts practically in his eyes. The two sat in quiet as she entered her room until she closed the door,"wow, isn't she something".      "Who Twilight? She's more of a sister or a mother for me... wait a minute... you like her, don't you."      "I guess you could say that", he said stopping a moment," but I'd like to know more about you at the moment", he said motioning to the couch.      As they both took a seat Spike tried to start the conversation," So, what go you want to know?"      "Well... everything, let's start small... what's your favorite color or color scheme?"      "Purple and wight, yours?"      "Black and lavender purple, favorite food?"      "Diamonds and emeralds"      "Mine is red rubies and amethysts",the questions flowed for another thirty minutes.      "Theirs something that's been bugging me.", said Drake      "What, do I have something on my face?"      Drake chuckled,"No... why did you runaway earlier?"      This was the question that Spike feared would come up,"To be honest, I was scared of what you would think of me, if I started crying. So I went to my room climbed up to a branch that I liked to sit on, and shed only three tears, then Twilight came up and told me I had nothing to be scared of."      "She's right your an amazing dragon your kind, and generis, and many more good things. To be honest with you I shed a tear or two my self, and I'm proud to call you my brother."      "And I would be proud to call you mine.", the two embraced in a much needed hug.      "Now it's your turn to ask a question.", said Drake breaking the hug.      "Do you drink? Because I need one.", asked Spike.      "Not often, in fact I can drink six beers in ten minutes and nothing."      "Well I may have something that might give you your first buzz"      "Well I'll believe that when I see it, or feel it"      "I'll be right back", excused Spike. He went into the main library and went to the center of the room to a carving of a pony head, at the base there was a secret button that opens a compartment. When he got there he opened the storage unit and pulled out a large gallon glass bottle. As he strode back into the living area he placed the bottle in Drake's hands,"this is a bottle of specialized apple flavored whiskey, it takes almost ten times the alcohol to get a dragon drunk than a pony can drink. This right here holds four times the alcohol of usual whisky, will still being smooth."      "Well I see it but I still don't believe it, where'd you get this, it must have cost a small fortune?"      "I have Big Mack make it special, every month I get two of these, and in exchange I work at the farm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I work for a hour"      "Sounds like a good deal."      "Ya and it keeps me from getting a beer gut from all the alcohol"      "So does Twilight know you drink?", asked Drake      "No and I don't need her going off on me about it and that even though its legal that its not good for me and bla bla bla... so you going to drink it or just sit with it in your lap?"      "Alright, bottoms up", his first taste was not what he expected, it was like somepony had mixed apples, cinnamon, and whiskey it was sweet than specie with that slight heat in the back of his throat. "Wow", said the black scaled dragon with smoke coming from his ears,"that's good", he took another large swig. After the alcohol was introduced, the questions got deep,"so I've told you that I've got a crush on Twilight, now who do you have a crush on little bro?",said Drake with a little slur in his voice.      "Rarity, I have a crush on Rarity, although I've got to know her really well so I'll even say I'm in love with her. But I think, no I know she has a crush on you."said the younger dragon his words slurd as well.      "Ya isn't this ironic", chuckled Drake      "What is?"      "That Rarity has a crush on me, you have a crush her, I've got a crush on Twilight, but she has a crush on you"      "What? Twilight doesn't have a crush on me"      "Oh, well from  the looks of it she does, when you to came back from... were ever you were, she had a needy look when she wasn't next to you, than when she was near you she was practically jumping for joy. I'm sorry dude but... she likes you."      "That doesn't make since, I'm her closest friend sure, and if been their for her more so than anyone else, and when she came to talk to me she was acting funny but... oh my Celestia Twilight likes me!"      "Yep, it's ironic that the mare I like likes you, and the mare that you like likes me"      A lite bulb went off in Spikes head,"Or at lest for right now anyway"      "Are you saying we should make Rarity fall in love with you and Twilight with me"      "Oh ya"      "How?"      "Easy, you teach me to fly and fight, I save Rarity somehow. Then I can teach you all about Twilight so you can win her over."      "Where did you get so smart little brother?"      "Twilight"      "That makes since"      "So do we have a deal", said Spike spitting into his hand and stuck it out.      Drake did the same and took his hand,"Deal, now let's get to bed I'm tired"      "Okay follow me, you can sleep on my bed, I'm sure Twilight probably already ordered you a bed for tomorrow.", without another word the two went to bed and slept until morning.
