"What does it mean!" Luna screamed at the giant piece of sentient machinery in front of her. Everything went silent as Luna's annoyed aura lingered like a bad smell.

Two Hours Ago

Luna sat in the throne room and stared off into the night sky, it was blotched with some clouds blocking most of the crescent moon except for a sliver. She began to let her mind wonder. She thought of Twilight. Luna always had something for the little mare but didn't have the gull to tell her. She began thinking of other things beyond that subject. For instance her sister. Celestia was always kind and she knew what to do in pretty much every situation possible, hearing her say 'I don't know' makes you shutter more than you would think it would. She began to count the stars. That's what she did when she was on the moon. She also encountered strange beings in suits their. The only thing she remembers about them were four letters. N A S A she believed.

Suddenly, Luna thought of a question not even her sister can answer, and it was a pretty serious one too, but at the same time, could hold the most simplistic answer. 'What is the meaning of life?' Luna stood up and went straight to the botanical gardens to see if she can find the answer there. Surely it had something to do with life rather than a simple stretch of words in a dusty old book or something. She began to look for significance in the plant life that lay before her. She studied each and every plant for signs of specialty. Not the usual kind of specialty, the one that answers all of her questions.

She found nothing of the sort, all she found were a beautiful hue of colors that went well the moon's dim light that just happened to hit the garden perfectly. She trotted of slowly into the castle in defeat, but she wasn't giving up that easily. She walked over to the Star Swirl the Bearded section that held many aged spell books and scrolls. She remembered seeing something in the book about a spell which will grant you your hearts desire. She finally reached the door. She was greeted with a barred gate door though. It was also locked. Luna looked around and found a night guard. She approached the bat pony.

"Uh, hello guardsman, could you perhaps open that gate over there for me?" She asked with a gentle smile on her face.

"Oh, of course!" He said as he made his way to the gate.

He walked alongside the princess as they made their way to the gate. He pushed the gate open.

"Um, your majesty, it was already unlocked." He said with a strange look on his face.

"Oh, er, thank you anyway, sir." Luna said as he walked back to his post.

She began rummaging though the books trying to find the spell. She went through countless scrolls and books before she saw it, the very first book Star Swirl ever wrote in. The princess opened it and on the first page was the spell she was looking for. 'Convenient!' she thought as she began casting the spell. As she began the spell silently she felt as if her flesh was being ripped off her. She stood strong as the spell began to cause a fiery tornado around her but finally the pain was to great and she passed out.

She awoken in a strange overgrown area. There were vines everywhere and a dirt path in front of her. She slowly rose to find that there was something at the end of this path. She began to walk cautiously towards it. It appeared to be a giant piece of machinery. She finally reached the end of the path and was standing in front of a giant computer. She stared at it, not knowing what to do. Then, it spoke.

"Good morning to you!" It said in a almost motherly voice laced with a light British accent.

"Um, what are you?" Luna asked.

"My name isn't important, just know that I can answer any questions you have in the world, or we could have a decent conversation." It said.

"Nah I rather have my question answered so I can get back." Luna said, declining the machine's offer.

"Oh well, what do you want to ask?" It asked.

This was it, Luna can ask anything and it may or may not be answered. That didn't matter to her though, as long as she had a chance she was happy.

"Okay, how do I word this?" Luna asked herself before coming up with a conclusion. "What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?"

"Are you sure that's your question you need answering?" It said with a hint of caution.

"Yes" Luna told her firmly.

"Oh well, your not going to like it." The large computer told her. "Okay here I go, The answer to 'Life, The universe, and everything' is..." The machine paused for suspense playfully.

Luna bit her lip.

"Forty-Two"

Luna's jaw dropped.

"It couldn't be that! It DEFIES all logic!" Luna thought out loud.

Luna thought about it in every possible way but couldn't find a logical explanation way the number forty-two is the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

"What does it mean!" Luna screamed at the giant piece of sentient machinery in front of her. Everything went silent as Luna's annoyed aura lingered like a bad smell.

The machine spoke in it's usual female British accent. "I told you magical horse, the answer is Forty-Two!"

"Ugh, I want to go home."
