~~~Chapter 1~~~
Celestia lay on a cold, white floor with her mane and tail draped along the pure floor alive with magic. She opened her heavy eyes to a flawless white room that seemed to go on forever. She looked around... the room didn’t even have walls; it was like an endless plain of white stretching as far as she could see. She got up and as she did, her hooves didn’t make a sound. The hard floor had no intention of making a noise when Celestias hooves touched the impossibly white flooring.
Celestia felt someponys presence; it was coming towards her at a walking speed. She spun around looking for the source but she saw no pony. “Don’t be frightened” came a sweet voice, Celestia gasped... she knew that voice... it sounded just like her mothers, could it be? “Celestia” it said again. She turned to where the voice was coming from and she saw a figure.
It was an alicorn slightly taller than her, her coat was white except for the tips of her hooves, horn and fiery wings which gently blended into an orange. Her mane came down to the base of her wings and had curls with deep purple tips. Her tail was in the same fashion but it touched the ground and dragged along the pristine white floor. Her shoes where the same purple as the tips of her hair and the front was in sophisticated cures that came halfway up her forearms. Her necklace and crown here both golden with a pink gem embedded in the center. Her cutie mark was in the shape of a galaxy.
It was Galaxia, her mother.
“Mother!” Celestia cried and ran to her mother. She galloped her way across pure white floor and into Galaxias forearms.
“You’ve grown so much from when I last saw you Celestia!” she said “and look at the lovely kingdom you rule! I knew you could do it!”
“I missed you so much mother! I haven’t seen you in over 1000 years!” Celestia said with teary eyes. She let go of Galaxia and stepped back.
“I know Celestia ... but I didn’t come here just to say hello” said Galaxia in a soft voice, and walked past her. She stopped on closed her eyes.
“What’s happened Mother?” Celestia asked, concern in her voice.
Galaxia sighed deeply“I have finally passed my magic to someone worthy of it” she said, although this is usually a good thing, she had a scared look on her face.
“Thats great mother! I thought – Mother? Is that a bad thing? Why do you have a scared look on your face?”
Galaxia sqeezed her eyes shut and stayed silent for a moment. “I’m scared that it might be dangerous, having power like mine could be strong enough to end all life in Equestria! Celestia... you need to take this pony under your wing and teach her to use the magic for good things” She said in a scared tone. Galaxia had never done this other than when she entrusted Celestia and Luna with Equestria before the war took its toll.
Celestia was confused “But I though you said you passed your magic to someone worthy of it?”
“She will be worthy of it if she uses it for good things, and helps rule Equestia alongside you, Luna and Twilight” Galaxia had concern and fright etched all over her face as she turned to Celestia.”Celestia if this goes wrong; it could end in world destruction”.
Celestia sighed... now she had the life of every pony in Equestria on her shoulders.”I’ll try my best Mother, but taming your magic isn’t going to be easy” she said. Her eyes widened “Mother! What if I do something wrong!” she cried.
“You won’t do anything wrong Celestia” Galaxia said calmly “I know it, thats why I chose you”
Galaxia hugged her scared daughter in attempt to calm her down; she stroked her mane as Celestias tears soaked her coat.
“It’ll be OK Celestia” Galaxia said soothingly “You’ll be fine”
Celestia choked on her tears and managed to speak “But Mother! I don’t want the horrible fate of Equestria balancing on my head! I don’t want to ruin things and send everypony to their deaths!” Celestia said into her mother’s coat.
“You won’t send everypony to their deaths Celestia, you’re a kind, wonderful leader that everyone looks up to. You’ll do fine” said Galaxia as she tried to calm her down
“That's what everyone thinks I am! Why did you choose me?” asked Celestia
“I chose you because I knew that you’re stern enough to make ponies behave but your kind and sweet enough to have everypony trust you” Galaxia said as Celestia kept on crying into her coat.
The two stayed like that for a while. Galaxia gently stroked Celestias colourful mane. She wrapped her wings around her daughter and held her close... like she did when Celestia was just a little filly.
Celestia felt better. Having her mother comfort her made everything better. She had a way of knowing exactly what you’re feeling that knowing exactly what to do to calm you down. That’s what she liked best about her mother. She never got to feel that comfort again that her mother gave her when she passed.
Celestia broke the hug and got up. She had a few stray tears coming from her eyes which Galaxia gently wiped them away with her hoof. Celestia had left a little grey patch on her mother’s shoulder where she was crying.
“What about Father’s magic?” Celestia asked “who did he pass his magic too?”
“Your Father passed his magic to someone you hold close”
“Luna?” Celestia said in surprise
“No... Not Luna” Galaxia said shaking her head.
Celestia thought about everyone close to her Cadence? No... he wouldn’t pass his magic on to someone like that. Not Prince Blueblood surely... one of the royal guards? No probably not...so that leaves...
“Twilight! He passed it on to Twilight!” Celestia said with a smile.
“That’s right! Cosmos passed his magic onto Twilight!
“Wow!” Celestia said “I never knew! It makes sense now that I think of it... so that’s why Twilight had the power surge when I met her”
“Yes that is why” said Galaxia with a laugh, a smile on her face from her usually calm daughter’s sudden outburst.
Celestia could suddenly feel herself slipping away, and remembered that she needed to ask an important question.
“Mother!!! Whats her name? The one that you passed your magic onto?” She yelled desperately.
She could barely hear her mother’s reply... but she could make out the words...
“Emerald Heart”
