Before Equestria was founded, a young colt was blessed by an immortal white mare who prophesied great things for his future. As he grew, visions of magic and knowledge grew with him, and the newly united ponies of the three tribes grew to respect Starswirl the Bearded. Magic caster, advisor, sage, and friend, he was perhaps the wisest among them all.

Now that Starswirl has neared the end of his life, he is ready to create his last and perhaps greatest spell, the consequences of which may tear Equestria–and his heart–into pieces.
