Desire for Eternal Night

        It was still dark out in the city of Cloudsdalle where a mare named Aero lived. She ofcorse was a pegasus for only the pegasie can be in Cloudsdalle, except for the occasional visitors that have a walking on clouds spell on them. Aero was flying in the dark skies just cruising around and waiting for the morning sun rise, she always found some sort of pleasure in it; to see the sun, not to go away but to come back and light the day up.

Aero flew to a cloud that was just above Ponyville, a large settelment that is close to Cloudsdalle. Down bellow she could see most of the houses still lit and ponies out and about because of the Summer Sun Celebration where Princess Celestia lowers the moon and rises the sun. The celebration is to be held in Ponyville this year so all the pones are to be up all night and celebrate till the sun rises.

The cloud that Aero sat on was above the town's library, where a party was going on where lots of ponies were at and loud music was being played. She did not mind the noise, in fact she found it soothing, hearing a low bass beat always seemed to make her relax even if it was fast. She lied down on the cloud and enjoyed the sound of the beat and waited for the sunrise. Aero would usually go join a party if it was open but this morning she felt like kicking back and just relaxing.

About half an hour passed when some one from the ground started to call Aero from the top of a building. Aero looked around to find her one companion Grainmane, on the roof of a store. He wore his hooded cloak and satchel bags on the sides of his flanks. She pushed the cloud down to his level and greeted him "Hiya Grain. What ya doing?"

"Oh, nothin' much" he pulls out a filled bag out of a window on the roof "just doing a bit of shopping while the shopkeeper is out at a party you know." he opens the bag and show her a bunch of valuable items from the small jewelry shop, including a few bits from the cash register and money safe. "Thing is that the shopkeeper derided to come back early and is downstairs right now probably noticing that things are missing. Could you help a lad out and let me join you on that cloud?"

Aero looks around to see if anypony was looking at the scene, then lowers the cloud to let him in "hop on"

"Thanks a million lass!"

Grainmane is a ground pony, but he has a neckless that he stole from a unicorn in the Everfree Forest that lets the wearer walk on clouds, so he has no problem getting on the cloud with Aero.

"So," Grainmane asks as he puts down the bag on the cloud "What are you up to this fine morning lass?"

"Nothing much, I'm just enjoying the Summer Sun Celebration from afar this year." Aero replied

"Why is that?"

"Don't know," Aero says scratching the back of her head with her hoof "I guess it's just one of those days that you don't feel like spending time with the crowd you know."

Grainmane look at her with a serious face "it's because you are thinking about you're original world and everyone you miss and that you have spent too long in this world and want to go back, isn't it."

Aero look up at him suddenly "Ofcorse not! I love it here, in fact I am thinking of staying here for the rest of my days. I just need to think things over that's all. . ."

"well whatever floats your boat lass, you have lived way more longer that I have and probably live passed the day that I will pass away or get killed, I guess It will be nice to have you at my side for the rest of my day."

"yea . . ." Aero said and looked up to the stars

For the rest of the time they sat on the cloud and waited for the sun. They talked every now and then about the town or about where they wanted to go next and such.

The time reached around 6:30 when the party at the library below ended and the ponies left to town hall, where Celestia was to lower the moon and rise the sun. Grainmane saw them and looked at Aero "Should we join them?"

Aero sat back up "Why not, I haven't really seen the princess in real life yet anyway."

"Okay, but do me a favor, fly down to that tree over there," Grainmane said as he pointed to a nearby tree "It's one of the places where I stash my stolen goods."

Aero pushes the cloud down to the tree, then Grainmane gently places the bag on a slab that had been nailed on two branches.

"Okay lets go!" he says

Aero pushed the cloud down to one of the roads of Ponyville and then they both get off. The cloud floats back up into the sky and goes about its business as a cloud. The town hall was just strait ahead and many ponies were making their way to it. The two of them also made their way to town hall.

Aero looked at the towered building and asked "hey Grain"

"Hmm?" he responds

"Have you ever seen the princess?"

He makes an angered face "yeah, I have! And to I got to tell you, she isn't any different from any of the rich snobs in Canterlot. For pony sake, who bands their own family all because they want a little freedom?"

"Uhh . . ."

"That there lass, is the sign of a complete control freak and a cold hearted bitch!" He said this so loud that other pones started to stare "If I'd had the chance I'd rob every last coin in that pathetic fort that she calls a castle! Don't you agree lass?"

Nearby ponies were whispering and staring at the two. Aero blushed a bit while Grainmane didn't show a single bit of embarrassment of his rant because he was so used to spreading his ideas and being hated for them.

"Well uh," she looked around at the others then back at Grainmane "I-I think it was kinda harsh, but I think she may have had a good reason to do it."

The ponies that were around seemed to back off with that comment and went on about, but Grainmane tried to keep the conversation over Celestia going.

"No," he continued "I'ts not. If someone tries to take control, you don't just simply just block them off, that's just-"

"Hey we're here!" Aero interrupted him. Grainmane stopped and looked up and was that the two were in front of a tower shaped building with a round porch all around it, Town hall.

"oh, well then lets go on ahead and go in then, I'l continue this latter." Grainmane tells her.

The two trot in to Town hall only to be greeted by a packed room. In front there was a stage platform where Mayor Mare was at with one of her assistance talking, above that there was a balcony where curtains were blocking the view of what was behind, and on the sides of the ceiling was glass windows that showed the night sky and the moon that had the face of Luna, the sister that Princes Celestia banished to the moon a hundred years ago. As for the floor there was ponies everywhere chartering about the event.

They all looked excited about the event except for a purple unicorn with a star for a cutie mark, she was looking more nerves than a school filly that's about to go on stage on her first school play. Aero saw her pass by her followed by a pink pony with a fluffy mane and tail hopping behind her chattering about how excited she was. Aero did get slightly suspicious about her but she didn't pay much attention to it.

"Fillys and gentalcolts" Mayor Mare begins "As Mayor of Ponyville it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Summer Sun Celebration"

The crowd of ponies fill the room with cheer, so did Aero cheer despite the fact that she knew little of the celebration.

"In just a few moments," the mayor continued "our town will witness the magic of the sunrise and celebrate this, the longest day of the year!

"And now it is my great honor to introduce you the ruler of our land, The pony that gives us the sun and moon each and every day. The good, The wise, The bringer of harmony to all of Equestria," A bird choir started to play end everypony seemed to get very excited at that point and so did Aero, Grainmane though didn't, for he has seen the princess many times and does not like her for her royalty.

"Princess Celestia!"

        Then the curtains rose
