The rain stung my eyes as I tried to see where I was flying. My past was bothering me once more, but I flew through the tough winds, my heart set on visiting my parents graves. Then, it happened-lightning from the storm struck my wings.
The pain jolted in my wings as the lightning struck me, causing me to fall slowly, causing my wings to never be able to be used again. The clouds all were a blur and felt like a dream as I continued to fall helplessly. My heart beated slowly, as the wind gusted in my ears. I didn't hit the ground, but I don't know who caught me either.
I woke up in a hospital bed and remembered what happened.
The white lights were blinding and outside it was rainy and grey.
Honestly, I never thought that this would be the end of my wings....and thanks to lightning...my wings are paralyzed.
My friends and cousins kept telling me of how this wouldn't change the mare that I am, but it did effect me and change me...
"I'm never going to be able to fly again..." I thought misrably, looking out the hospital window, tears streaming down my face.
"It's the end, it started a fire in my heart, that craves hope...and now I have no more..." I cried.
"I can't stand tall....I'm useless..."
All these sentences flew in my mind.
"I should just end my life..."
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
I fell into a deep sleep, a flashback of my wings being paralyzed.
I remember the tension of the Trolling Mare's hug and flying off, not hearing the storm.
It was raining, and I could hardly see. My mind was full of all these thoughts about my parents and their death.....
A horrible thunderstorm was occurring, and I was right smack in the middle of it.
Thunder boomed and then lightning struck me, and I fell into a slow fall, tears, memories, and a big blackness of nothing.
I spotted my feathers, burnt, falling near me as I thought about my past lifetime. I felt blood trickle down my face, along with silent tears.I saw the Trolling Mare bellow then the images faded out into a deep black pit of nothing.
And that's all I can remember.
Such a horrible memory...I wanted to end my life...
I picked up a knife from my bag and began to cut my hooves.
I didn't hurt now...it felt...right...
I saw the blood trickle down as I continued to cut, then I fell out of my trance, silent tears streaming down my face as my head flooded full of memories of me and my friends.
My ears drooped and my eyelids grew restless.
"I can't...leave them..."
I wrapped up my new wound, then heard the door open.
"Hey, Midnight!" called my friends as they walked in.
I flinched a bit then put on a fake smile.
"Um...hi guys?" I replied, shifting my wrapped hoof under me.
"We came here to cheer you up!" They said, hugging me.
"Oh...that's nice." I muttered, then asked if I am truly the mare they still know.
"Of course, you are!" shouted the Trolling Mare.
"No...I'm not..."
"..."
"I tried to....kill myself...flying was my life, it calmed me but now...my wings are useless forever..."
Tears jerked at my eyes.
"What?!"they gasped
"Um..." I began to panick slightly
"Midnight why try and do such a horrible thing?!" they demanded.
"I-I...can't fly...no pony likes me anymore- so what's the point of living then? Huh?! Explain that to me before I get struck by lightning AGAIN!" I screamed, knowing now I was losing it.
"Who said no pony likes you?" they asked, voices full of concern.
"Every pony! I know they do!" I yelled back, slamming my hoof on the bed.
"Hey, Midnight, calm down...!" shouted Rainbow Dash as she stood in the doorway.
"I can't take it anymore! My parents are dead, and now my hope and joy is gone along with my wings! Have a reply to that!" I screamed, tears flowing down my cheeks.
My friends remained silent for a bit, then slowly trotted out, except for Rainbow.
My face was wet from tears, and my eyes hurt from crying, along with my throat for screaming.
"This isn't you-I know it isn't...please Midnight...listen to your heart...I know you still care...I just KNOW you do! Please Midnight, stop fighting it! Believe in yourself! Do it for me and your friends!" she shouted, her voice a tone of sadness and anger.
"I-I..I'm not who I was anymore...I'm a failure and a crippled outcast...." I whispered.
"Yes YOU are! stop fighting it! Be yourself! You ARE loved!" she insisted.
My heart stopped. My head flooded with memories as my heart pounded again.
I seemed to be in a trance. I saw my friends, and they were mad at me for some reason.
"I'm sorry, to all of you!" I cried, in both reality and the vision.
"Midnight!" called a voice.
I snapped out of my trance and saw Rainbow shaking me. I hugged my cousin tight.
"Me too...see? I knew you were in there..." she stated.
"Apology accepted!" said 5 voices.
I looked behind Rainbow and my friends stood there, tears softly falling from their faces.
2 weeks later.....
I had just had a fight with my best friend in the world....
"I'm...a monster..." I thought as I laid down my head on my pillow.
I was still in the hospital, waiting for a new diagnosis.
"Midnight! We have a special guest here!" a nurse called.
"Come in!" I replied as I sat up.
It was Princess Luna.
"Uh...why are you here...may I ask, Princess?" I asked, my voice full of confusion and somewhat joy.
"I see your dreams, and have come to make you have faith and happiness once more..." she replied, stepping in.
"How?" I asked, full of despair.
"This." she replied as her horn glowed with blue magic.
I tilted my head, then felt her magic lift me up.
There was a blur of light then I lifted myself up off the ground.
"There you go, Midnight." she smiled at me.
I could feel my wings! I flapped them happily and hugged Luna as tight as I could.
"But why me?" I asked the dark blue princess.
"Because I know how good of a pony you truly are..." she answered as she began to trot out the door.
My heart was touched. "Thank you, thank you..." I whispered.
"You're welcome..."
