She rubbed her hoof against her temple in a vain attempt to relieve the throbbing, yet it powered on, strong as ever. “Twilight! Breakfast’s ready!” Spike yelled from downstairs, his shouting only making Twilight’s anguish worse. It almost seemed like a metal spike had been driven into her skull as she reluctantly got out of bed. As she walked down the stairs, Spike called for her again. “Twilight, the pancakes are getting cold!” Just as Twilight was about to slip into the kitchen, she noticed the piles of books and scrolls covering the floor in the main room of the library. “I could have sworn I cleaned that up before…” The truth hit her like a sack of bricks, except that sack of bricks came in the form of the throbbing rising in a torturous crescendo. “The party last night… that cider… maybe-” Spike stuck his head out the doorway to the kitchen, about to yell again. Before he had the chance, Twilight changed Spike’s lips into a zipper and closed them. The baby dragon clawed at the metal teeth keeping his lips together and tugged on the tab in a futile attempt to undo the zipper. "I’m really not that hungry,” Twilight said as she stumbled over to the counter. She brought a glass down and filled it about half-full of warm water. Spike tried to say something, but his words came out garbled from behind the metal teeth keeping his mouth closed. Twilight took a drink of the warm water, and managed to return Spike’s mouth to normal before her head was wracked with the remnants of her previous headache. The lavender unicorn took another sip and headed back out into the main room of the library. She thought about cleaning up a few of the piles of books, but just couldn't bring herself to do it. With much reluctance, Twilight headed back up the stairs to her comfortable bed. As she pushed the door aside, a strange sight met her eyes- one which caused her to drop the glass of water immediately. On the other side of her bed, resting quite soundly, was a handsome blue stallion. It only took seconds to remember who he was. As Twilight stared, dumbstruck, the stallion sat up in the bed and flopped over. He looked straight at her and sleepily said, "Morning..." Twilight blushed and shied away from her pleasant intruder. Just as she reached the door, memories of the nights before came to her- bringing with them the same throbbing pain that had been tormenting her all morning. 3 Days Earlier With a sigh of contentment, Twilight placed the last book in the shelf. Unfortunately, she realized a grave mistake just afterwards. "Ugh... how did that get there?" Twilight switched Manticores: A Comparative Anatomy and Manticore Mating Behaviors around and went about checking all the other shelves for any similar errors. She had only gotten to the “J” section when a dainty knocking came from the door. Rarity stood outside, her mane just beginning to show the first signs of dishevelment. “Hi, Rarity,” Twilight said, trying not to let any of her anger show. “How are you this morning?” Rarity gave a weak smile and replied, “Oh, I’m fine; just perfect actually.” “Would you like to come inside?” Twilight asked. Rarity recoiled and quickly added, “Of course… silly me. Thank you, Twilight.” “No problem.” Rarity entered the library slowly and nervously, and stood by the round table holding the wooden bust of a horse’s head. Every few seconds, she would change legs or shift her eyes, and Twilight wanted to get to the bottom of it. “Are you alright, Rarity?” Twilight asked, coming up next to her friend. “Well, now that you mention it…” Rarity broke down and fell at Twilight’s feet. “I have this important stallion that’s visiting Ponyville, and Fluttershy and the rest have no room to spare.” “Not even Applejack?” Twilight asked, confusion evident in her voice. “No, she was the first one I went to. Apparently one of their cousins is visiting and they’ve given him the spare room.” Twilight lightly blushed, hoping Rarity couldn’t see. She’d never had any stallion in her library before, and now her friend was asking her if one could use the spare bed in the library? “I don’t know,” Twilight muttered, thinking of everything that could go wrong. “Please, Twilight? It’s only for a few days,” Rarity begged. “But I don’t even know him,” Twilight replied. Rarity suddenly gave a devilish grin. “You know… you two do share similar interests.” Twilight felt her cheeks get hotter than they already were, and she turned away from her friend again. “Rarity,” Twilight begged, “you know I’m not good at that type of thing.” “Come now, Twilight. He’s just staying here to attend Pinkie Pie’s upcoming party.” Rarity explained, batting her eyes in the most practiced of ways. “Still, what if we don’t get along?” Twilight asked, her gaze still turned away from her white unicorn friend. “Or what if Spike doesn’t like him…? Or if we really don’t share similar interests and he gets mad at me for constantly-” “Twilight, please?” Rarity whined, slipping back into the act she had put on for the Diamond Dogs. “Please, please, please, pleeeeeaaaase?” “Fine,” Twilight answered, sighing heavily. She’d just have to take the risk now. “I suppose I have a spare bed upstairs…” “Absolutely wonderful! Thank you, Twilight,” Rarity exclaimed as she began to walk toward the exit. “I’m terribly sorry I can’t help, but you know how it is in the fashion business.” “It’s fine,” Twilight replied, trying to recall where she had left off in her review of the many shelves of the library. Rarity leaned back in the doorway and added, “Oh, by the way, I completely lost track of the time. He should be here in about an hour.” “W-what?” Twilight’s heart jumped with a sudden burst of adrenaline. “Why didn’t you tell me he was coming so soon?” “I’m so very sorry about the late warning, dear- I swear I lost track of the time. I really do wish I could stay, but I must finish up that order from Manehattan.” After the door closed, Twilight began to panic, launching herself around the room, making sure the floor was swept, the kitchen was organized, and that the spare bed was ready upstairs. As Twilight adjusted the blue blanket with her magic, Spike woke up and stared at her groggily. “Twilight…” he asked, “Why are you up so early?” “Frankly, Spike, I can’t see how you aren’t awake by now.” Spike grumbled something unintelligible and rolled over, tightening the blanket around him. Twilight thought about dropping him into the tub again, but decided against it. The last time she had done that, Spike hadn’t forgiven her until three days later. Twilight continued setting everything up for her sudden guest, growing more nervous with every passing second. //-------------------------------------------------------// The days before ( Part Two ) //-------------------------------------------------------// The days before ( Part Two ) Twilight was just finished cleaning up all the books before it knocked at the door, << im coming >> twilight yelled she walked to the door and opened it, there a light blue unicorn stallion stood. << hello, is this the ponyville library?>> Twilight stared at the stallion, studied him from the outside as he was a book., he had a short brown-gray mane and red eyes, he was slim well trained from that she saw. << ummm.....hello?>> the stallion asked to the purple unicorn that was deep lost in toughts. << oh, hello >> twilight replied as she snapped back to reality << and yes this is the ponyville library>> she answared there was a small silence between them << my sister said i was gona sleep here >> << oh i was expected you to come >>twilight said << wait, are you raritys brother?>> << um....yeah, why are you asking? he replied << she never said that she had a brother before>> twilight said realizing that they still stood in the doorway << come in, come in >> she said they both trotted in to the library and the blue stallion took a quick glance trough the room they was in. << so you live in a library?>> the tallion asked << yeah, my and spikes room are up at the second floor >> << so you live with someone else >> the stallion said and turned around to twilight Twilight culd feel her face turn red << oh no spike is just my assistent >>twilight replied << oh.. >> the stallion said there was a long akward silence between them << sooo....let me show you the guest room >> Twilight said ending the long akward silence between them << yeah, lets >> the stallion replied << and by the way my name is Skylight Dark >> he said << and my is Twilight Sparkle >> she replied they both walked to the guest room and twilight showed skylight everyting in the room, but when she came to the bed some dirty thoughts ran trough her head and she blushed a little. << why the hay did that thought come from? >>she though skylight jumped up in the bed letting out a small sigh << im so tired >> he muttered << oh well then im just gona leave you here then >> twilight said blushing madly as more thoughts invaded her mind she walked out of the guest room, leaving skylight behind and went out to her kitchen to grab a little snack. << why do i  keep thinking of him like that >> she muttered to herself << keep thinking about him of what?>> the voice from the little dragon asked behind her twilight head raced to find a logical explanation to answer her numer one assistant << umm...... errr >> << dont worry im not gona tell anypony >> spike said Twilight was blusing as mad << its not what you think >> twilight replied << sure >> spike said with a sarcastic tone << anyway im gona go to sleep now >> spike walked up the stairs to the bedroom << yeah i think im gona go to >> twilight said as she headed up the stairs.
