Chapters PROLOGUE
Tyler Hesh Vision is just a normal pony like any other. Once a renowned assassin for an elite military group, now just a lowly janitor who mops floors for a living.
Every day, he would get up at 7 A.M., eat his breakfast and take a 10-minute bus ride to the supermarket he works at. Every day of every month of every year, he has to mop up whatever mess ponies make while getting complaints from his boss. He hated his job, and he knew that, but this is the only way he could make money to feed himself, pay off his apartments bills and of course, owing his friend money to feed himself.
Every time he mops up something, whether it’s a spilled paper cup of coffee or an occasional foal’s barf, you could hear groaning and mumbling to himself. And giving you that instant sign that he hates his job.
“Tyler, clean up on aisle six, please.” He heard the pony’s voice on his walkie talkie. But he ignored that and continued cleaning up the floors on the aisle he’s working on.
“TYLER!” an unfriendly voice shouted out and his hooves clopping noisily against the floor he had just cleaned up, and Tyler instantly knew who it is. It’s his boss, Larry, who is standing right in front of him. “There’s still shit lying around in Aisle 6! So get your fat ass over there and clean it up now!” a mare on the same aisle looked at Larry with a glare while she covered her colt’s ears with her hooves and walked away, never taking her eyes of him.
Tyler also glared right into Larry’s eyes, with burning hatred and a violent thought of impaling him with the same mop he is using. “Yes, sir.” He finally replied after a good half-a-minute of glaring at him. He picked up the handle of the bucket with his mouth and slung the mop over his foreleg. And he made his way to the far end of the store to Aisle 6. “Fucking piece of shit…” Tyler mumbled through his teeth softly so that no filly or colt could hear him. And at last, he finally made it to Aisle 6. He put down his bucket of water, soaked his mop, squeezed it dry and started mopping up the aisle from the end he started.
Halfway through the aisle, he once again heard a shout calling out his name. “TYLER!” Larry shouted again, “You missed a spot.” He pointed his hoof to a very obvious dirt spot next to Tyler.
“Yes, sir.” He said as he mopped it up.
“And another right there.” He pointed again to a very small, speck of dust just underneath Tyler.
“That’s it, I’ve had enough!” he threw his mop aside in frustration.
“And what are you gonna do about it? Get back to work, you lazy piece of shit.” Larry turned his back and started to walk away. As he had his back turned, Tyler grabbed Larry by the neck and slammed him against the rack, making boxes of muffins rain down on him. Followed by a large box heavy with even more boxes of muffins dropped on top of Larry’s head. He sat on the ground against the rack with a pile of muffin boxes next to him, he put his hooves on his head to try and ease the pain.
“I quit.” Tyler threw his janitor’s hat at Larry, and left the supermarket with rage and took the next bus back to his apartments. By the time he arrived, he is still fit with rage. He felt like he needed to punch something, like a stallion or something.
“Tyler.” A mare’s voice called out while he was about to enter his apartment room. He turned around and gave the mare a smile, trying not to show his anger towards her. “You’re back early today. What happened?” the young mare asked.
“Ah, I got fired. Don’t ask me why or how.” He replied. He turned the handle of the doorknob.
“Oh, and uh, by the way, Tyler. My dad needs the rent money right now.”
“That can wait later. I’m… having some issues right now.”
“Alright Tyler, I believe you.” That was a lie, he could’ve paid her the money, give her a kiss on the cheek, and lie down on his bed. Elizabeth, the owner’s daughter, he had a crush on her ever since he moved in. He couldn’t get enough staring at her light-brown coat and her black mane and the cute freckles she has on her face and not forgetting the dark-violet eyes. He laid down on his bed, with his head filled with thoughts of her and finding another job that could pay him more than before.
So he got up, grabbed a newspaper and a red marker pen and started to circle the jobs he ‘thinks’ he would be eligible to work. After circling around twenty to thirty job vacancies, he walked to his computer and started to type out his resume.
But after a long week of interviews, he could not find one vacancy he is eligible at. So he in his dining room, which is in his kitchen and sat on a chair. Cursing to himself, he hasn’t paid his rent, he hasn’t paid his friend and still hungry. He placed his hooves on his temples and caught a glint of light at the corner of his eye, and looked over to the corner where the glint came from.
A sniper rifle, a trusty L98A1 sniper rifle he used when he was in the military. He made a wicked smile and picked up the rifle, looking at it and dusting off the dust on it with his hoof. "That'll do." He finally found a job he was looking for, and it was sitting in his kitchen for a long time.
Chapter 1 - First Blood
It’s a bright and glorious Saturday morning shining in Manehattan. The sky is blue and not a single cloud to be found, it felt like it’s going to be the most perfect day in his life…
…If he hadn’t been sitting at his computer for the entire morning. For hours, he sat at the exact same place for hours, staring at the screen of his old computer. He spread the rumours around pubs, fight clubs and the seedy parts in the city that he is a ‘professional assassin’. There were ponies looking at him like he was some stranger in an entirely new world, whispering things about him.
As the minutes pass by, he started to grow impatient. His eyes are sore and red, his forelegs started to ache for being in the same sitting position for so long. He was about to log out and call it a day when he heard a beeping tone from his computer.
A notification. A red exclamation mark beside a bell icon that has turned yellow. And it is good news for Tyler, red exclamation mark and a yellow bell means a message. And a message means his first contract, his first blood to spill.
Excited, his hoof reached for his mouse and clicked on the new message in his inbox, labelled ‘So, you’re the new colt here?’
Greetings, Tyler
So, I hear you’re the so-called ‘professional assassin everypony’s been talking about, hmm?
Well, that doesn’t matter now anyways. I have a very important job for you to take care of. I am a contractor and own a piece of land which will very soon be a new factory to boost the economy in Manehattan. But unfortunately, there are these kids, teenagers, I believe, who are harassing the workers and making it impossible for us to continue our project.
There are at least three in the group, if I’m not mistaken. Cut the serpent’s head of and the body will die, pop one of them and they’ll flee like a bunch of rabbits.
Do that, and there will be a large sum of money waiting for you. I’ll leave the location of the land I mentioned earlier.
Tyler knew where this piece of land is, it’s just a half-an-hour drive from his place. Where the new factory is being built. He packed his rifle in his gun bag and packed other things as well. A canteen full of water, some chocolate bars and a pair of gloves. When he was ready to leave, he opened the door leading outside, but he was surprised to find Elizabeth standing at his door. “Elizabeth.” Tyler’s face almost turned red. His face had almost touched hers.
“Tyler, I was wondering when you can pay the-“
“Umm, maybe later, please? I have something very important to take care of right now.” Tyler interrupted Elizabeth before she could finish her sentence.
“Alright then.” She stepped out of the way, but she noticed the gun carrier Tyler had slung over his foreleg. “Umm, Tyler?”
“Yes?” Tyler turned to face her.
“I hate to ask, but…” she sounded nervous and her face shows that she’s scared. “Is that a gun?”
‘Shit, she’s scared. Think, Tyler. Think!’ Tyler furiously thought to himself, not changing the expression on his face. “I have a call over at a farm not far from here, and they want me to…” he trailed off, running out of things to say to her.
“To?” Elizabeth asked curiously, tilting her head slightly.
“Solve their… rodent problem.” He finally answered.
“You’re going over to their farm to help them?” she raised an eyebrow. “To kill rodents?”
“Um, yeah.” This time, he felt really nervous. Never before did he spend this long to talk with Elizabeth, and this long staring at her
beautiful freckles on her face and her long mane.
“Oh, alright then.” Her nervous look suddenly broke into a smile, “I’m sorry to have wasted your time.”
“Nah, it’s nothing. Really.” He smiled back at her.
* * *Factory construction siteForty-five minutes later...* * *
Climbing up the steps, slowly putting one hoof on each step to prevent anyone from hearing him, he climbed his way to the floor with a room to give him a good view of his targets. Of course, he didn’t have to climb the steps slowly. The building has been abandoned for years, why should he be quiet?
Better yet, the abandoned building is only a couple of miles from the construction site. So no one ever bothered to even notice the building, even better still, the contractor told the everypony who is working at the site to take the day off, so there’s nopony there. Well, except those rascals who’s harassing them. Finally reaching his floor and room as his sniping spot, he put his gun carrier down, taking out his sniper rifle. He attached the scope, loaded the bullets in the magazine, pulled the bolt back and forth, pulled down the bipod and settled it by the window. He looked through the scope of his rifle and spotted the three rascals, two teenage colts and a teenage filly, sitting down in the construction site, talking to each other happily.
Deep down, Tyler felt guilty that his first job is actually killing children.
3000 dollar reward is you pull this off. I’ll pay an extra 1000 if you kill one more. Bonus 500 if you make it look like an accident.
Tyler remembered the email, still, it’s the only way to pay off his debts.
Looking through the scope of his rifle again, he scanned around the site to find objects to kill his target and make it look like an ‘accident’. Above the first colt, he spotted an I-beam just dangling dangerously above him. He aimed his crosshairs at the cable holding the I-beam and shot it, and sure enough, the calibre of the bullet is powerful enough to snap the cable and the I-beam fell on the colt with such force that it crushed and killed him, with his blood splattering everywhere like a firecracker in a can of paint.
The other two was shocked to see their friend dead, and his blood splattered on their faces. The screamed in terror and made a run for it, Tyler was fast enough to pull back the bolt, ejecting the empty shell and loading a new one in, aimed for the second colt and killed him with a body shot, dropping him dead. The last filly was spared, because he didn’t want to kill any more children.
Grabbing the empty shell and wiped the dirt floor clean of the stray gunpowder, Tyler made his way downstairs and walked his way back to his apartment. In his head, a sudden rush a nostalgia came and hit him like a bat. Remembering the times where he fought side by side with his team mates from afar and supporting from below.
4500 dollars for the job done, and the contract must better be worth the money.

Still, it’s a shame that you didn’t kill the last filly, but I understand you don’t normally kill little kids like them.
Anyways, the money’s been transferred over to your account. 4500 dollars total, there’s a lil’ extra for you in there, consider it as a bonus.

Tyler read the e-mail as soon as he woke up early this morning, hoping to get the money he was promised. He logged into his Golden Pegasus bank account online and surely enough, the money is safely deposited into his bank account.
Filled with excitement, he put on his clothes as fast as he could, put on his saddlebags and rushed out into the streets, running through the crowd of ponies and unicorns dressed in business casuals. As soon he spotted the bank, he ran in and told the accountant to withdraw half of his money from his account. And within minutes, the accountant gave him 2000 dollars, neatly stacked and wrapped in cheap paper. He thanked the accountant and ran back again to his apartment.
Finally, he can get rid of his burden that was on his chest for so long. He can pay the rent, repay his friend’s cash and above all, having a good meal he has ever had for days. By the time he reached back home to his apartment, he was already out of air right now. And about a meter away, he sees Elizabeth, still dressed in her night clothes and wearing her jacket to keep her warm, still chilly from the cold early-morning air.
“Good…huff… huff… mornin’, Eliza… huff… beth…” Tyler said, smiling at her and trying to speak and catch his breath.
“Good morning, Tyler.” Elizabeth, shyly smiling at him back, “What’s with the racket? And why are you-“but before she could say anything else, Tyler pulled out a stack of dollar bills from his saddlebag, neatly wrapped in paper and tossed it at her. Elizabeth caught it with both her hooves and unwrapped the paper, and her eyes glittered when she saw the stack of money. “Where did you…?” she asked while looking at Tyler and looking back at the money again.
“New job… huff…” Tyler took a deep breath, this time. Letting the air fill his lungs, “I got paid after the first day. Definitely worth quitting my old one.”
“Congratulations, Tyler!” she trotted her way to Tyler and gave him a quick hug. His face immediately turned red once she came close to him, and filling his nose with her scent from her mane. “Well,” she looked at the money again, still smiling. “This might actually be enough for a few months…”
“Well, I got something else to do. See ya!” Tyler said when he walked away.
“Good bye.”
Tyler went back into his apartment and laid on his bed. For the first time, he can finally rest easy. No more shitty bosses, no more calls from his friend reminding him to pay him back his money, just good ol’ fashioned hitman job. He closed his eyes for a minute until the sun rises when he heard a beeping tone from his computer he forgot to turn off. Tyler groaned as he walked over to his computer, looking at the red exclamation mark next to the yellow bell notification. He moved his hoof over the laptop’s track pad and clicked on the new message on his inbox called ‘Important matters’.
Greetings, Tyler.
I got a message from Bobby earlier. You know, the guy who gave you a contract? Anyways, my wife is having an affair with this pizza delivery guy who delivers pizzas to our house almost all the time. One time, the neighbour caught him and my wife having sex at the back of our house!
Here’s the deal, 3000 dollars if you can take him out. By this afternoon at 2.30 P.M., my wife will be away for a couple of hours, giving you the perfect opportunity to eliminate him.
He works over at Lucky Daffodil’s pizzeria, so you know the delivery number. I’ll leave our house address below.
After he read the message and wrote down the house address, he searched the delivery number of Lucky Daffodil’s Pizzeria’s and wrote it down on the same piece of paper he had written down below the address. Since the client’s house is in a neighbourhood, there’s no need for him to use his sniper rifle for this. Instead, he took out a small butterfly knife from his kitchen drawer, doing a few tricks to get a feel of it. And since the neighbourhood is small, there is a small chance of him being spotted.
But of course, using a knife is also too risky. Luckily, he happen to have a tranquilizer gun and a few darts filled with deadly poison, which may help him in killing his target in a breeze.
He waited until 2.30 in the afternoon and waited for another fifteen minutes, and he took out his cell phone and dialled the delivery number. “Lucky Daffodil’s Pizzeria, how may I help you?” a mare’s voice said over the phone.
“Uh, hi. I’d like to order your pineapple and rose petal pizza, please.”
“Very well, can you tell us your house address, please?” he told her the house address, “Very well, your order will arrive in twenty minutes. Thank you for choosing Lucky Daffodil’s Pizzeria.”
“Oh, and one other thing?” Tyler asked the mare over the phone.
“Anything else you require, sir?”
“Can you send the same pony who always delivers to my house, please?”
“Not a problem, thank you sir.”
“Alright, thanks.” He hung up and stomped on his cell phone, smashing it into pieces, so that the cops won’t be able to track his number. He put on his jacket, slipping his forelegs through the sleeves and slipped his incredibly-small tranquilizer gun, along with a few additional darts in case he misses. He walked out, catches the first taxi he sees and heads to his destination.

20 minutes pass by...
* * *
He paced up and down along the sidewalk, waiting patiently for the delivery pony to arrive with the pizza. He hid his tranquilizer gun in his sleeve, since it’s easily concealable and faster for him to draw his weapon faster. He also has to be careful about the darts in his jacket pocket, since he is also paranoid the tip of the one of the darts could poke through the fabric and kill him.
Another minute has passed and he saw a figure of a Pegasus flying over the house it’s delivering. ‘Perfect.’ Tyler thought to himself, he slid the tranquilizer into his hoof from his sleeve and aimed at the delivery pony. He pulled the trigger and the dart hit the Pegasus in the flank. He yelped in pain and reached his hoof to feel what had bit him, and he is shocked to find a dart once he pulled something out from his flank. The Pegasus’ head started to spin and felt weak in seconds, half a minute later, he collapsed. Tyler quickly ran over the corpse and picked up the dart that hit him, never did he know that he could pull out this stealth assassination quick and easy without anypony looking. He quickly ran back to his apartment, hoping that nopony saw him.

He got the message shortly after returning home. Again, he logged into his Golden Pegasus account and was happy to find the money successfully transferred over to his. He laid back on his old couch in his living and let out a sigh of joy, happy with his ‘new job’ and a much more efficient way to handle problems for other people. But still, he won’t be resting easy if the police are on his tracks. Being a professional assassin like his father and his before him, he remembered to eliminate whatever evidence in the area. He put his hooves behind his head and closed his eyes, drifting off to a sleep he’s been dying for a long time.

A knock on his door interrupted him, Tyler groaned as he got up from his couch and trotted his way to the door. When he turned the doorknob with his hoof and opened the door, he can see nopony standing outside. He looked outside his room and the compound, there was nopony there as well. When he slowly walked outside, he felt something being stepped underneath his hoof. A piece of paper with some words written on it. ‘Come see me in the Purple Den. Come alone and unarmed.’ Tyler scratched his mane with his hoof after reading the note, who would want to see this anonymous person in a strip club? It could be a prank, or perhaps another contract for him which is too private to discuss. Either way, he’s too tired after the last kill he made, and running a mile and a half from the neighbourhood is no walk in the park. He entered his room again, stuffing the note in his shirt pocket. Again, he made his way to his couch when he heard another knock on his door, much gentler this time. He turned the handle again, this time, it was Elizabeth. “Oh, hi Elizabeth.” Tyler smiled at her.
“Hello to you too, Tyler.” Elizabeth greeted, smiling back at him. “My dad asks if you want to join us for dinner tonight.”
“Umm, that kinda depends. Where?”
“Well, from the amount of money you paid us. We’re thinking somewhere… fancy.” Elizabeth hesitated, her face slightly turning red.
“I’ll try. But now, I’ve important matters to discuss with a friend.”
“Oh, alright then.” Her expression on her face turned a little bit disappointed. And Tyler trotted his way to the Purple Den. He felt bad saying no to such a cute girl like that, but he didn’t let that feeling get to him. The Purple Den is Manehattan’s largest and most popular strip club in all of Equestria, and people from all around came to this place for a… ‘Special treat’ waiting for them behind those doors.
Lucky for Tyler, it’s just a fifteen minute walk from his apartment, so it’s fairly nearby. When he spotted the large building painted purple and black with the neon sign of what seems to be a mare pole dancing, he took out his note again and read it. ‘Come to the Purple Den. Come alone and unarmed.’ He entered the strip club, with two tough-looking pegasi bouncers allowing him to enter and making no resistance once he walked passed them. Inside, it’s just nothing but stallions and mares in the building. The mares are wearing lingerie to attract the stallions and dancing on the poles while the stallions are drinking at the bar and tossing dollar bills at the pole dancers. The club is dark, and with no proper lighting but purple and pink lights, making it impossible for him to watch where he’s going.
Walking through the horde of scantily clad mares and drunk stallions, he could not find the pony he is looking, perhaps this is one big joke just to waste his time. He was about to turn around and leave when he heard a mare’s voice call out behind him. “Tyler.” Her voice called out. He turned around and sees the unicorn mare with a light grey coat and brown mane, next to her is another mare who is a stripper, cuddling next to her and nuzzling her at her neck. “I hear a lot of things about you, yes?” she said when she turned her head to the stripper and kissed passionately on the mare’s lips.
“What do you want?” Tyler asked.
“I’ve enough fun for today, dear.” The light-grey mare waved her hoof, and the stripper left. “I know all about you, Tyler.” She levitated the glass of scotch and placed it to her lips, taking a sip from it. “And I have one little job for you to take care of.”
“Depends on the job, and I’ve dinner with another mare.”
“Well, you see.” The unicorn shifted her sitting posture. “I run a series of meth labs all around Manehattan. A profitable career, yes, but I’ve encountered a slight problem…” she placed the glass back on the table and lifted a cigarette from an ashtray next to the glass and smoked.
“Cut the chase and let’s get over with it.” Tyler said impatiently.
“Colts like you are so impatient these days… Oh well. You see, there is a stallion selling a part of our drugs. We hired him, of course. But then he refused to give us the earnings he made and ran off to someplace everypony doesn’t know. And I want you to find him and kill him. There will be a large reward of ten thousand dollars waiting in your bank account if you do that.”
“Ten thousand?” he asked with his eyes wide open. Ten thousand dollars is a lot for a single target. “You’re paying me ‘that’ much just to kill a single pony?” he asked doubtedly.
“Oh, it’s nothing but a fraction of what I make from a sale.” She smoked from the cigarette again, puffing out a cloud of smoke.
“Where can I find him?”
“He frequents at the fight club next the Steelswing’s gun store.” She handed him a picture of his target. “Find him, and come back once you finished the job. And make sure he is truly dead.”
“Trust me, I will.”
“Oh, I hope you will.”
