Dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn-Dunnn-Dunn-Dunnn-Dunn

Waking groggily from slumber, I groped for my phone to turn of the alarm, cursing as I knocked it off the table. As much as I liked the Battlefield theme, it was time for a new tone I thought. Half asleep I wandered out to door towards to bathroom to start preparing for school. Slinging my backpack into the back of the car, now mostly awake, I started it and pulled out my phone to plug it into the stereo. Looking through the playlists, I pondered listening to the one entitled "Pony Music", hitting the play button, first song: "My Cadance" cover my Aviators, on second thought, "not this morning" switching the stereo off, driving off in silence.

The school day proved to be largely uneventful, although " I don't think I did to well on the chemistry test " thinking to myself, hoping back into the car, once again pondering if I wanted to listen to music, "Why not" switching to the Soviet/Russian music playlist, ah Red Army Choir-Moscow Nights began playing, and I pulled out of my parking spot. The rest of the evening crawled by, no plans for the entire weekend, just homework and relaxing. I spent some time later in the night derping around on PAYDAY 2 with a few friends, then later I decided to try to draw some pony artwork, " No grass this time, that was a pain with just a mouse ", after about a half an hour, I decided to retire for the night, defeated by my inability to draw.

It began as a dream, first nothingness, just falling, no sound, just the feeling of free fall; it seemed to drag on for hours. It was a strange dream, nothing but free fall, pitch blackness, no feeling, no arms or legs, I just "was" I merely existed, nothing else. Suddenly with no warning there was a loud and quick whooshing noise and then SMACK!

I was awake

It was as if a freight train hit me, everything ached, and my head was spinning. I opened my eyes, I was immediately blinded by the sun, squinting and trying to put my arm over my face like a visor, only to smack myself in the forehead with what must have been a thick branch. After several minutes of just relaxing with my eyes closed, I finally regained my senses. Looking around it was now possible to see I was on top of a hill, behind me was what seemed to be a forest looming in the distance. Looking forward, toward the now setting sun I could see an endless stretch of rolling hills and what might have been a farm on the horizon.

Trying to bring myself to standing position brought about a shocking discovery. Looking down there were two brown hooves on the thick grass. "I was a pony, what the hell". I was in utter disbelief, questions flooded my still throbbing head, "how, why, what now? " .First thing, standing, "ok let's do this", slowly and after a few attempts, I was able to stand upright, but still with some trouble. Trying to walk proved to be difficult and before I had taken 2 steps, I was on the ground rolling down the steep incline of the hill. Upon reaching the bottom, I rolled into a ditch with a splash. "Ugh, water" I mumbled, looking down into the ankle-deep water, I could for the first time see my reflection. Looking back at me was a spitting image of my original character. I was stupefied; I sat looking down at the brown earth pony, now distorted with ripples as water dripped from my mane and face.

Trying to walk again, this time with much more success, I climbed up the opposite side of the ditch to find a dirt road, how had I not seen this earlier? Scanning both directions, I spotted what appeared to be a junction, or at least a road sign.

In the waning light of the sun, it was possible to see 3 labels on the pole.

Now able to walk with some confidence I sped up and trotted toward the sign.

It was a wood pole, probably 3 meters tall with 3 labels pointing in 3 directions of the junction.

"Well fuck me sideways with a waffle iron" I said aloud as I observed the labels. PONYVILLE was labeled to be to the right, the one pointing opposite of me said SMOKEY MOUNTAINS, and the last one, pointing left, sent a shiver down my spine: CANTERLOT.

Well, here I am, I said aloud and thought to myself. I went back up to the hill I had originally found myself. Sitting down I could now observe the setting sun once again and the night sky that was slowly enveloping it. I began to think to myself, once again the same thoughts initially flooded my mind, "how, why, what now? ", such questions lingered in my mind for some time before drifting away. I began to think of my life as a whole, I had done so before every so often, but not in such depth as this. I was a troubled young mind, I had been born into a middle class family, I had been fortunate to have many luxuries most in the world didn't, and I had a loving accepting family, great friends, and a bright future. Somehow, despite these, I became a communist, but that didn't matter here, not now. Becoming a brony had really opened my mind to many new things and I had made several great friends through the fandom. Since watching the season 2 finale, Shining Armor and Cadance became my two favorite ponies.

Reflecting upon all this, over and over. All of this, and yet somehow, part of me feels empty. I could never seem find it though, the lost piece, forever lost.

I sat there on the hill for what must have been hours; it might have been the early hours of the morning when I curled up under the single tree on the top of the hill. I fell asleep almost instantly.

I awoke to the warm sun shining down upon me. Walking down the hill, I found the road sign again and turned left, to the North, to Canterlot.
