MoonBeam is hungry, scared, and lonely. Every waking moment her mind aches from malnutrition, for every ounce of emotion she absorbs is given to the other hungry changelings who survived the blast out of Canterlot, the trek to their homelands, and the retreat to the forest. Which, would only be about 100 out of the 10,000 that had originally attacked the royal palace. Every day she faces the crowds of Canterlot city, but she blends in seamlessly with the help of her magic. She faces the horrible truth that eventually, if the changeling ways continue, her kind will be all but extinct. She also faces the truth that she'll be forever alone, without friends, and the weight of these things weigh heavy on her. One day, though, she sneaks into the palace and tries to appeal to one of the Princesses, hoping that she'd be spared and she would get a chance to escape the fate that will befall the rest of her kind.
