Lunara had been born under a full moon and a cloudless sky, but she had been born with some breathing complications. Her parents had pleaded with the moon princess to help their only child to survive these complications and whether the princess actually helped or not the breathing complications disappeared and Lunara had become healthy once again after a short time. In respect to the princess that they believed had saved their child they named her Lunara.

This would be good and well with the one exception that this had occurred while Nightmare Moon was still feared and hated by the citizens of Ponyville. It certainly didn't help the young filly that she was born with a dark blue coat and black mane much like the princess herself. As a young child it didn't matter much at all, she played at home and most of the time at night under the stars. But as she grew she began to realize that not everyone was as innocent minded as her. Her first memories with other ponies were being hated by certain ponies because of her looks and her parent's unbelievable tale of her birth.

Lunara never understood why the other citizens had given her malicious looks and she really didn't care. If they didn't want to be friends then it was fine, she didn't need friends with the older ponies. She had other ponies her age to play with!

Lunara could still remember the beginning action that started the time period in her life that now she calls her growing pain era. It was painful but necessary to her growth and the first day started with Lunara wanting to go to the park.

"Momma? Can we go play today? It's a bright day and Summer Daze is sure to be there with her Momma!"

"I don't see why not Lu just let me finish cleaning then we can pack a lunch and go alright?"

"Sounds wonderful momma!" Lunara had bounced around the kitchen like the floor was made of rubber with the affirmation that the park was on the agenda for the day.

Lunara's mother was a beautiful cerulean unicorn with a seafoam green mane and dark blue eyes, her smile could light up the darkest nightmares and her singing could soothe even the most frightened filly. Though today there would be no singing only upsettedness and pain for both parties.

Lunara and her mother make it to the park a little after noon and enter the park where many children were playing and mothers were chatting. Lunara's mother moves to an empty place away from the other moms and spreads out a blanket. Lunara helps with her own little horn but only manages to trip from leaning forward too far trying to focus her magicks. Lunara's mother, Sea Lullaby, laughs at the little fillies plight and helps her up before pointing her towards the play ground.

"Why don't you go join the others for a little? I will call you over when lunch is ready alright?"

Lunara would have answered but at 'join the others' she had taken off towards the playground. The other kids were swinging, and running all over the equipment, and when she arrived they didn't look at her any different. Just another filly to join in the play, that is until one of the moms recognized the dark coated filly and called her child over promptly leaving the park with a glare in Lullaby's direction. Soon the other mothers followed the first's action until Lunara was alone on the playground watching as Summer Daze's mother walked her crying child out of the area.

Lunara walked back over to her mother and was in near tears as she started to explain what had happened. Lullaby looked at her child and with a sad smile began to explain why they all left when she joined them. About who she was named after and that she even resembled the infamous princess. After a little the filly who was about to cry had seemed to age a few years and seemed stronger now than she had a few moments earlier. She lifted her tiny head and gave a smile to her mother.

"It's ok momma, as long as we have each other that's all we will ever need!" Lunara said with a small stamp of her tiny hoof as if she had declared some huge news to her mother and had made a decision that was of immense importance. Which it was though at the time she didn't realize it.

After that they ate lunch together and Lullaby was perfectly happy with her little filly that she had raised so well. As they finished they packed the basket back up and started for home. Though when they got there Lullaby had scooped up Lunara and rushed her inside before she realized what was going on, for on the outside of their home someone had written, "Banish Yourselves." Lullaby called Lunara's father and had told him in a hushed voice that they would be moving as soon as they could.
