Basically an idea I had when I played XCOM: Enemy Within and rewatching the other seasons of the show.

Those who've played the new XCOM knows what sort of sacrifices the men and women of XCOM have to do in order to fight the alien menace.

Well this is a story of a man who essentially had a somewhat normal life... and lost it in the alien invasion. Forced into being part of the XCOM organization due to his... attributes... with the alien techno-organic nano-tech MELD and the mysterious 'Gift' that the aliens are so hot for.

Since has nothing to truly go back home to. So its no surprise he volunteered to the Gallop Chamber... and sacrificed himself to ensure Earth's survival...

But fate is a tricky thing... and how can one broken soldier live in a world where it's so happy and warm?
