Prologue: When the World Began

When the world was young, *the King floated in his canoe endlessly through the mists. Then one day the ever mischievous crow created something new, something that threatened the balance of matter and over beings, the crow created souls and trapped them in matter, thus creating life.*

The King was concerned, but intrigued. He stopped his canoe at Equis, and took a fascination in the "ponies" as they where called, before his eyes he watched their history unfold. As he did so something became apparent, the world was dangerous for the ponies, which as he discovered, was a cruel joke made by the Crow. When the cruelest part of the joke (the near extinction of ponies due to the windigo) played out, the King was furious.

He tracked down the crow, and for time untold he beat the black bird, and finally *broke it. From it's feathers he made the bat ponies and from it's organs he made the Crystal Ponies. He shaped the brain into a creature of light, an equine daughter which he named Celestia, from it's beak he made a creature of darkness, a daughter named Luna.*

He sent them to Equestria to be happy. However, before he noticed that Equestria had been taken over by Discord, he noticed the crow's blood staining his hands. He realized that his obsession with ponies had caused him to lash out and kill, at which point he returned to the canoe, condemned the world, and fled in fear of becoming obsessed again.

As a result he left his semi divine daughters to live alone in an uncertain and unforgiving world.
