Chapter Two: Part Two: Lyre & The Candy Bowl~
Previous ChapterNext ChapterLyra woke up on the couch. She looked around the room. Same old place, same old livingroom. She looked towards the window which was emitting sunlight through the dense dark blue curtains. She stood up and walked outside, lighting a cigarette on her way out.
Something wrapped its arms around Lyra lovingly from behind and spoke. "You know, you're gonna get cancer if you don't quit."
Lyra smiled. "Yeah I know, but I can't stop Bon Bon. It's not that easy, and those electronic cigs are so irritating!"
Bon Bon rolled her eyes. "Your quitting right after that one!"
"But-" Lyra began but was quickly cut off by Bon Bon.
"Quitting!" She repeated, irritably.
"Ugh, fine..." Lyra agreed begrudgingly, throwing the cigarette down and putting it out with a stomp of a hoof.
They proceed inside and Bon Bon started cooking breakfast, while Lyra got ready for work. Bon Bon set down a stack of pancakes and yelled. "Come an' get it!" at the top of her lungs.
Lyra bolted to the kitchen and levitated three of them onto a clean, medium sized plate. She then wolf them down and ran towards the door.
Before leaving however, she gave Bon Bon a brief kiss and ran out with a quick 'bye I love you!'
The house grown quiet, of course Bon Bon was used to it due to the fact that Ponyville usually is. The place isn't too quiet but isn't too loud. It isn't too small, but isn't too large as well. In short terms it was like paradise in a nutshell. Bon Bon began her usual cleaning routine before getting ready for her job as well. She owned the local candy store just one block away from her quaint two story house.
When Bon Bon found lyra, she was playing the lyre for money and wearing a black hoodie. She had a suitcase behind her and a tin cup to hold the money in. Bon Bon walked over to her and began to talk to her, before she knew it they had a sort of special connection. Before long Lyra was staying in the guest bedroom. Six months later, Lyra was sharing a bed with Bon Bon. The two had feeling for each other the day they met but until recently, expressed it.
The day went off without a hitch. Lyra made a lot of money playing and Bon Bon made over thirty-two sales. Both of them gathering over five hundred bits! They both sat on the couch counting the bits on the coffee table parallel to it.
"Well, miss Heartstrings." Bon Bon began. "You wanna go grocery shopping?" She smiled.
"Hell yeah I do! I'm starving!" Lyra agreed, jumping up and heading out the door. She opened when she heard an amused Bon Bon call her name.
"We're going together Lyra!" She said smirking.
"Oh, right, sorry, hehe." Lyra apologized which was followed by a nervous laugh.
Three minutes later, they were out of the door and browsing the markets stalls. They picked out many necessities and then went to Sugar Cube Corner for ice cream. The place that surprisingly hadn't knocked Bon Bon's business over. The day was played out perfectly.
Once the moon began to rise, shoving the sun off of it's throne for a good twelve hours, they sat at a park and stared at the moon on a park bench. Lyra was slouched over and Bon Bon was laying down on it. They talked about life, music, jobs, and Lyra quitting smoking, which Lyra didn't mind at all due to the fact that she's been meaning to quit and the only reason she started was because of the....incident.
That night they walked home and crawled into bed. Letting time fly as they lost consciousness somewhere in the soft silk sheets of the king-sized bed they were currently occupying.
The morning came in what felt like a matter of ten minutes but she knew otherwise. She sat up, pull out a cigarette from the cartridge before putting it too her mouth and lighting it with her magic, she stopped.
"Right, I'm s'posed to quit." She said to herself, silently as she threw the box of cigarettes into the trash.
It wasn't as easy as she played it out to be. Bon Bon didn't know about the feeling, just the facts. Whenever you're irritated, you want to smoke, whenever you're happy, you want to smoke, whenever you want to smoke, you want to smoke! Its taking everything that Lyra has in her to stop. It may be hard but she could pull it off in a matter of months.
The following days left Lyra grouchy due to the lack of nicotine in her system but Bon Bon got her a punching bag so she could take out any unreasonable anger out on it. It feels like she mutilated it three times a day, or maybe it's because she died. She even burned it sometimes. She also resulted in learning new things like spells and Equestrian history. One spell she used in particular to prank individual was a sleep spell.
One day Lyra and Bon Bon were cuddling on the couch watching TV when they heard a knock on the door. Lyra walked sluggishly to the door and opened it. It was Ditzy Doo, the local mailmare. For some reason it went from a pleasent conversation about mail to an argument about muffins and finally, Lyra just waved her hoof across Ditzy's face and Ditzy fell down, unconscious. Lyra closed the door, unwrapping a letter that may or may not be important.
"Who's it from and will Ditzy be alright?" Bon Bon asked curiosity splotched with concern.
"Oh, yeah she'll be fine, she's just sleeping. I say she'll wake up in ten minutes. Oh and it's just my pay check." Lyra said smiling.
Lyra sat down next Bon Bon, cuddling up against her, and opening her pay check. Her eyes widened at the amount, jaw nearly unhinging.
"What? What's the matter?" Bon Bon said, which gained no response, so she leaned close to read the amount she got paid.
Bon Bon's eyes widened in awe. On the paper, it said two thousand bits. Lyra launched herself off the couch and ran out the door. Bon Bon Followed. They both charged to the local bank. There, they came out happy with a heavy amount of bits in their saddlebags and a sigh of relief that the check didn't bounce.
They trotted home, after ice cream of course and went to sleep.
Lyra awoken to hear the Ponyville Express. 'It hasn't visited in months and now it's here?!' Lyra thought as she walked over to look out the second story window to their house. The platform was desolate of life. Not a single soul can be found. The last time the Express visited was when Lyra first came to Ponyville. Her curiosity grew at every waking moment the train sat there in the early hours of the morning. She wanted to know who was visiting or moving here. It took fifteen minutes before any commotion was sighted.
Lyra's heart sank when a white unicorn with a blue themed mane and purple shades stepped off, followed by a grey mare with her signature bowtie. She looked away from the window and sat down on the floor sighing.
"I could really use a cig right now"
