It has been nearly 70 years since the Equestrian Royalty was overthrown by the pony who is known to her subjects simply as the Empress and her army of Bat Ponies. The citizens of Equestria have no freedom. Even being suspected of insurrection is enough to have a bounty placed on one's head. However, not everypony believes that this is how things have to be. Led by the last living member of the Royalty, a group of ponies who wish for the freedom of Equestria work tirelessly to discover a way to destroy the Empress and save the land that they love.
