Spike's Imaginationby GrenazersChaptersSpike the KnightSpike the SoldierSpike the HeroSpike the KnightIt was morning in the quaint town of Ponyville. Luna's moon has taken a rest and Celestia's sun was peaking over the horizon. Some of the early birds of the town are already up and about, doing their business. All preparing for the day to start. Near the middle of this large town, there resides a large tree. This was no ordinary tree, for it has been hollowed out and turned into the Golden Oak Library. The current residence that lives there are Princess Twilight Sparkle, Spike the dragon, and Owlowiscious the pet owl. In the upstairs part of the library, two of the residents are sleeping. In the large bed, the lavender alicorn was peacefully slumbering. Across her bed was a basket, in it was a sleeping baby dragon. While the mare kept sleeping, the little drake was starting to wake up. Slowly his eyes crack opened. Knowing that his biological wouldn't allow him to sleep further, he decided to get up. Rising from his bed basket, the little guy stretch him arms up in air. Taking a step out of his basket, Spike walked down the wooden stair. He was going to do what does every other morning, making breakfast for the two of them. But, before that he has to feed Owlowiscious. He is still kinda find it creepy that he has to feed the guy mice and insects, but he got used to it. After that, he search the kitchen for anything to make. Finding only bread, mayonnaise, cheese, and a carton of milk, Spike made a mental to add grocery shopping on the to do list. Making two cheese sandwiches, he set on the table along with the two cup of milk. With breakfast done, Spike turn to the clock and saw that it was eight o'clock. Seeing that he was done early, the baby dragon made use of this free time and try to remember the wonderful dream he had. It was pretty vague, but he was sure it went something like this. On top of very rocky mountain, there is a old castle that is being poured upon by the heavy rain. Lights from the lighting illuminate the dark creepy castle. Standing in front of the main door are two muscular canine like creatures, called Diamond Dogs. Both of them were wearing fully plated armor and wielded spears. These two dogs were unfortunate enough to be stuck out here, guarding in the rain, instead of doing it inside. Nevertheless they continued to do their duty and watch for any visitors. Suddenly both dogs saw something in the distance. Through the downpour of rain, a black silhouette of something heading towards them. They both brandish their weapons and waited for the mysterious guest to get closer. As it got closer, their guest reveal to be a tall figure. Wearing a robe that concealed many of his features, it stopped when the dog guards shouted at him. “Halt!” One of them shouted. “Who goes there?” The stranger remain silent for a bit, until he spoke. “That is none of your concerns, tell your master that he stolen something of great importance and if he doesn't return it, you'll leave me with no choice but to use force.” After saying his demand, the stranger took out a large lance out oh his robe. The two dogs don't appreciate being threaten and they attack first. Inside the castle, various diamond dogs were hanging around drinking, playing cards, or just talking among themselves. This cheerful mood was suddenly interrupted when the front door suddenly burst open. The two dogs from before came flying in and crashed into other dogs. Everybody was surprised at what just happened, but they were even more surprised at who they saw, standing in the doorway. It was tall bipedal dragon wearing a red cape with matching red boots. In his right claw was a his signature weapon, a long lance. “It's Spike the Knight!” One of the dog yelled. Panicking at the sight of mighty dragon knight, the ensemble of dogs all charge at him at once. This disorganize attack proved to be useless against the dragon. Spike swatted them away like flies with his mighty lance. After dealing with those mutts, he made his through the castle, fighting any dogs that got in his way. He eventually found the door leading to the throne room. Kicking the door open, the dragon knight spotted a large dark fur dog, sitting one throne. “Ah, Spike the Knight you finally arrived.” Said the large dog, in a menacing voice. “I was afraid that you might not come.” He got up from his throne and took out a his sword from its sheath. “I'm glad that you did, cause now I have the pleasure to finishing you off myself!” The dog leader roared and charge at the dragon knight. Spike reacted by raising his lance and block his attack. His opponent was different from the ones before, he was much more stronger and it shows when he struck his lance with his sword. The impact nearly push him back, but he held his ground. While the dog has strength on his side, Spike the knight has something else, smarts. He looked up and saw a large chandelier, hanging in the ceiling. In one swift movement, Spike pushed the large black dog off him. He then moved passed him, turning around quickly he threw his lance into the line holding the chandelier. This resulted in the chandelier falling down and crushing the dog leader. With his opponent defeated Spike the Knight headed for the door to side of the throne chair. Opening the door, the dragon found a white unicorn mare with purple mane, chained to the wall. “Sir Spike, is that you?” Asked the mare, rubbing eyes to make sure her eyes were not deceiving her. “Yes Lady Rarity, it is I.” Spike answered, he then proceeds to break the chain and lifted her off her hooves. “Sir Knight, I do believe you deserve an award.” After saying that, she puckered her lips and close her eyes. Spike did the same thing with own lips and eyes. They both lean closer to each other and just they were about to kiss, somepony was calling out to him. “Spike.” “Spike!” The little dragon found himself brought out of his fantasy and into the real world. “Spike, what are doing?” Twilight questioned him. Spike was apparently wearing his blanket like a cape and was using the wooden spoon like a weapon. “Um nothing Twilight, just playing around.” He said quickly. Twilight smiled at his response and decided not to ask any further. She went for the kitchen, sat down and started to eat her sandwich. Spike joined later, after returning his blanket to his bed. The both of them sat silently and ate their cheese sandwiches. Once done the baby dragon wanted to know what they have plan for today. “Hey Twilight, what are our plans for the day?” “Well I still go some research I haven't finish last night, I can probably do that and be done with it by the afternoon.” She replied. “Then after that we'll head to the market place and get some food, then meet the girls at the spa and lastly at continuing reading that novel I started.” After finishing their meal, Twilight went to her research. She read various books and wrote down several notes. Spike was at her side and assisted her in any way possible. This went on hour for a few hours, until they were finally done. With that taken care of, it was time for them to head out to the market place. Taking a saddle bag and some bits, Spike climb on top of the purple mare and they both left for the market. Spike the SoldierThe Ponyville market place was busier then ever. Various ponies of size and shape were trotting around, each one going to a different vendor and buying their stuff. Among the many ponies shopping, is a lavender alicorn and her dragon assistant. The two managed to get half everything on their grocery list. But, then Twilight suddenly stopped in her trot and remembered something. “Oh no.” Said the troubled mare. “We forgot to get the apples.” “Don't worry Twilight I'll get the apples for ya.” Spike offered his help. “Thanks Spike, that will be great,” She then levitated some bits out of her bag. “Here take this and get as many apples can.” Before baby dragon could go of, Twilight said one last thing for him. “After you get the apples, wait for me outside of the market place. I gotta do some errands before I can meet you there.” Spike simply nodded and went of, deep into the market. He passed several vendors selling common to unique items. Each pony running the store was trying to sell something to him, but he kindly refused and continued on. The was on a search for where Applejack set up shop. If he remembered correctly her apple stand should be around this corner. Turning on a corner, Spike saw somepony behind the apple stand. It wasn't Applejack, it wasn't Big Macintosh, it wasn't even Granny Smith. Instead it was the youngest of the apple family, Applebloom. As he walking towards her stand, the little drake felt a strange emotion coming from within. This the same thing he felt every time he is with Rarity. He wasn't sure why he feeling this for Applebloom, sure she was cute, but that doesn't he found her attractive. He tried to look away, but his eyes were drawn to her. As he stared, he noticed all the filly's features. Her bright yellow body, her beautiful red mane, the adorable pink bow, and her sparkling orange eyes. “Heya Spike, are you alright?” Applebloom's voice brought Spike out of his trance, looking up he saw the filly giving him a confuse look. Realizing that he was blushing, he wanted to make the purchase go quickly before she notices. “How many apples can get with this much?” He asked, giving her the bits. Applebloom found his behavior strange, but counted the bits anyways. “This gets you six apples.” “Can I get bag with those six apples?” “Um sure.” She took out a paper bag and filled it with the six apples. “Spike, is there something the matter?” She asked, sounding concerned. “No nothing thanks for the apples bye!” He said in one rapid sentence. He then turned around and quickly walked away. Appleblood found Spike's behavior strange and wanted to find out why. However, she can't leave the stand unattended, besides it was probably none of her business anyways. So she just there waiting for the next customer to come, all the while still thinking about the little dragon. When he thought he was far enough, Spike glance back at Applebloom for a second before continuing his walk. He remembered reading something about, according to the book it was natural for boys his age to go through, it was basically puberty and a sign of growing up. Silently grumbling to himself, Spike left the market place, blaming his hormones for that embarrassing moment. The baby dragon sighs as he stood waiting for a certain purple alicorn to arrive. Spike didn't have a watch, but he could tell that is was along time. Seeing that he will be here for a while, Spike decided to pass the time by taking a trip into his imaginary world. On today's adventure he'll be storming the beaches of Griffonia. It was cloudy on the beaches of Griffonia, the dark grey clouds covers the skies, hiding the bright yellow sun and blue sky. On the beach itself, there was large wall that separated the beaches from the main land. The wall was heavily fortified, with machine guns and cannons on top, and a bunch of infantries down below. You'll need army to break through this wall. Unfortunately, for the griffons, an army is what they are going to face. A couple of miles ahead of the griffon wall, there is three Equestrian battleships heading in their direction. When got close enough, the three battleships opened the door below and release several small boats out. These boats, each containing a group of ponies, are making a beeline to the beach. Once they land, the troops will empty out of the boat and assault the wall. Among the many troops is very unique individual. He is unique for he is not a pony, rather he is dragon. Spike the soldier was standing in the boat with several other pony soldiers doing the same. The ocean's wave rocked the meat boat, this cause some of the troops to be seasick. Spike spotted one them threw up on the floor. “sixty second, until landing!” the boat driver yelled out from behind. “Alright pony listen up!” the squad leader said, raising his voice. “Just as reminder, once we land we keep moving forward and joined up with the rest of the company! Once there we will proceed onto the next phase of the plan!” “Fifty second!” “Just remember, keep your head down, take cover, and don't be a hero!” “Forty second!” At this point the griffon's artillery started pounding their position. While a majority missed, a few hit their mark. A boat next to Spike's suddenly blew up. “Thirty second!” More explosion sound can be heard, this was causing some of the ponies to worry. Most of them had only finished boot camp and now they are here participating in a major battle. “Twenty second!” A series of loud banging can be heard outside of the metal boat's wall. They were close enough for the griffon's machine gun to target them. “Ten second!” “Everypony get ready!” the squad leader shouted. The boat touched land and it halted. The front door of the boat slowly started to unlock, when finished the door dropped down become a ramp for them. The ponies at the front rushed out and made a mad dash for cover. Spike and some other troops were in the back so they have waited for the ones in front of them to move. Just before Spike's foot can touch the ground, the artillery hit the boat, destroying it. The blast wave propelled the tall dragon forward, crashing his face into the sand. Spike was lying there not moving, mere seconds later his body risen. Wiping the sand out of his eyes, the dragon looked around. He sees carnage everywhere, pony troops galloping in, only to be mow down by the machine guns and cannons. Boats tried to land, but were blown up. He watched all this in eerie silence. The blast must have blown his eardrums. When he started to worry about being deaf, his fear vanishes when his hearing slowly returned. And when it did he could everything. The sound of the ocean waves, the sound of gun firing, and the screaming and yelling between the ponies on the beach. Picking up the nearest weapon, Spike ran for cover, all the while keeping his head low as possible. He took cover behind a bock of concrete left by the griffons. It was intentionally for the purpose of stopping any any boats from getting further inland. But, now it is being used as cover for the Equestrians. Moving to one cover from another, Spike managed to keep himself safe from the machine gun emplacements. When he near a big strip of land with no cover, he knew he had to make a run for it. He waited for the machine gun to stop firing in at his position, and when it did, he swiftly move out of cover and rushed forward. Around him, other pony soldiers were doing the same things. Some got hit and were left behind by their comrades. As Spike was nearing his destination, a soldier ahead of him got his got shot and fell down. At that moment Spike wanted to help him, but remembered what his squad leader said. “Don't be a hero.” He repeated the words in his head. But, instead of following the advice, he ignored and carried the injured stallion. He may not be able to save everyone, but he can still save the ones that he can. The dragon soldier managed to carry the stallion to the forward position. It was basically a large crater filled with troops. After handing the wounded soldier to a medic, Spike met up with his squad leader. “Ah good, Spike you're here.” He said. “We can really use you right now.” “What do you need sir?” Spike responded. “We have enough troops here to griffon's defensive line at the wall.” The stallion then pointed his hoof at two ponies carrying large explosives. “When we reach the wall. We'll plant the bomb and blow us hole to go through.” “Sound simple enough.” Said Spike. “How do I fit into this?” The stallion then smiled. “The griffons won't be expecting a dragon in our ranks, I want you to create a diversion. Draw all their attention towards you and we'll flank them from the other side.” Spike accepted his task and was about to leave, but the stallion stopped him. “Whoa there kid, you're going to need more firepower than that gun.” He then held a machine gun in front of the dragon. Spike smiled at what he saw and picked up the weapon. Spike then proceeded to crawl into place, near the enemies defensive line. He could see all the griffons readying themselves for an attack from the ponies. When he finally got into position, he lifted the machine gun up and fired. The griffons were caught of guard by the sudden attack, especially one from a machine gun wielding dragon. Spike kept firing at the griffons, laying suppressing fire on them so they can't fire back. He also made sure to move around a lot, so he could dodge their weapons. As they were distracted by the dragon, the griffons failed to notice the ponies sneaking behind them. When they got into position the ponies opened fire. Like dominoes, the griffons started to fall, one soldiers at a time. When they were none left, the ponies planted the bomb on the wall. After wiring it to explode, everypony backed away in a safe distance and took cover. The twin bomb exploded, making a huge noise that can heard from the top of the wall. Once the dust settled, there was big gaping hole in the wall. Everypony pony were ordered to go through the wall and take out any griffons beyond it. They followed their orders and they all charge right through. On the other side was the griffon's base, the ponies wasted no time and fought against the griffons. Spike joined the battle later in and was still wielding his machine gun. A new addition to his arsenal, was a strap of grenades. Taking one up and pulled the pin out with his teeth, he toss into a group of griffons and they exploded. He picked another grenade and was about to throw it, until he heard someone call his name. “Spike!” Spike was suddenly brought out of his fantasy. He turned the to source of the voice and spotted Twilight giving him an odd look. He then look at his left claw, it was holding the apple like the grenade in his imagination. “Spike, I been calling you, why haven't you been paying attention?” The baby dragon lower his head and stared at the ground, attempting to not look at her “I'm sorry Twilight, I was just playing around.” “Spike I need you to be aware of what's going on around, you can't just can't keep doing this.” The mare sternly said. Despite not looking at her, Spike could feel her gaze on him Twilight was a bit angry with Spike, but she calmed herself. She then placed her hoof on his shoulder. “Look Spike, I know you were just playing around, you're still a child after all. Just be more alert when somepony is calling for you, alright?” Spike raise his head up and nodded. The then return home and restock their fridge and cabinets. Once done they left the house again and went on the next thing on the schedule, going to the spa and meet up with the girls. Spike the HeroThe trip to the spa was wonderful for the alicorn and her little dragon friend. Spike was bit sadden that Rarity couldn't come, but he was going to let that ruin his enjoyment. So for the next few hours, they bath in hot water, got back massages, dip in mud bath, and many more. After their treatment, Twilight decided to call it for today and said farewell to her friends. Both her and Spike proceeded to head straight home. As they entered the building, Twilight went to the kitchen and started making dinner. Spike later joined in and helped out. They made a large meal and ate it. The leftovers were place in a plastic container and stored into the fridge. With dinner done, Twilight went on the next thing on her schedule, reading that novel. Trotting over to a bookshelf, the purple alicorn's eyes scan along the line of books. She eventually stop and pulled one of them out. The book she took was entitled: Starswirl presents Wings on a prayer. Twilight smile upon finding the right book. Starswirl may have been known as the greatest unicorn ever, but what most didn't know that he also has written a couple of fictional novels. The one she have in her hoof is a story about a pegasus, who has lost the ability to fly and as such went into a state of depression. So far the book followed the basic five stages of grief, as the main character goes through all five stages. Bringing the book with her to bed, she looked for the page where she left off and continued from there. The last thing she did before losing herself into the novel was asking Spike for a glass of water. He return from the kitchen and placed the glass on the night stand near her. After handing the glass of water to her, Spike knew that he is free to do anything now. He uses this time to read something of his own. Going to his basket bed, he lifted it up and reveal a comic under it. Picking it up, Spike made himself comfortable on his bed and started reading the comic. And as he did, he found himself transported into a world of heroes. The city of Maretropolis, the shining jewel of Equestria. This large city is well known among the ponies across the land. Their tall and shining building is an envy to the many other pony cities. However, on this night the city a bright orange luminescent light is coming from the streets below. The source of the light is a series of fire spread all around the destroyed streets. Evidence of battle is clearly shown, from the destroyed carriages to the huge holes in the buildings, this street has been recently a battleground earlier before. What being could cause such destruction? What being is so tough that not even the Power Ponies can stop him? Why it's none other than Darkside! Darkside is large black alicorn, his body was in complete blackness, leaving no visible features. His black mane flows around, despite the lack of wind in the area. The only other thing that stands out are his menacing scarlet coloured eyes. Red energy was leaking from his eyes, indicating he was about to unleash the contain energy within. Before him on the ground, is the defeated Power Ponies. They laid there, hurt, unconscious, tired, and crushed. The only one that tried to move was their team leader, Masked Matter-Horn. The costume mare was pushing her body beyond its limits. Darkside watched the mare desperately trying to pull herself up. He allowed her to do this, out of sheer amusement of watching her pathetic state. Once he has seen enough, he charge up his eyes and was incarcerate her, but was suddenly smashed into a wall. Pushing himself away from the wall, the dark alicorn and turn and face his new opponent. Standing tall on his two legs, the purple scale dragon wore a mask over his eyes, a long red cape, and two metal gauntlets and boots. “Hum Drum?” Asked the injured mare. “Please Matter-Horn I'm called Dragoon now.” He clearly stated and turn attention back to the villain before him. His first move was breathing out a huge torrent of green flames at the the dark alicorn. Upon seeing the colour of the flame, Darkside spread his massive black wings and took flight, barely dodging the flame. Normally fire wouldn't hurt him, but this was no ordinary fire. They are flames that been enhance with magic, making them just equally powerful as any blue flames. The dark alicorn return his opponents attack with one of his own. Firing two beams of red laser, the menacing villain aimed towards the dragon. Dragoon saw the beams coming towards him, he reacted by moving both his gauntlets in front of him. The laser hit them and miraculously they blocked it. The dragon then release another stream of green flame upward, this time it was more wider. Darkside move back from the huge mass of green flames, then all sudden something burst through the wall of fire. Dragoon was flying directly to the dark alicorn, he used his massive dragon wing he hid under his red cape. The dragon then swung one powerful punch into Darkside's face. He was about to counter until Dragoon struck him with another fist. Soon the hero rapidly swing both his fist and struck the dark alicorn repeatedly. The villain tried to back away, but Dragoon held onto him with one claw, while the other one continued the pummeling. Dragoon then move to the alicorn's wings and burnt them with his fire. This damages his wings, rendering him unable to fly. Darkside started to fall. Dragoon flew to the falling the alicorn and pushed him down further, increasing his descent. The two crashed onto the pavement, with Darkside receiving the majority of the damage. Dragoon was the only one to get up, Darkside also tried to get up, but his injured body wasn't allowing it. Looking down at the wounded dark alicorn, he opened his mouth and said something. “Stand down Darkside, don't it make it any worse for yourself.” Dragoon stated and started to walk away. This angered the dark alicorn, 'How dare this worm turn his back on him!' He yelled in his head. He then got, ignoring his pain with sheer willpower, Darkside lunge at the dragon, intending to stab him with his sharp horn. Unfortunately for him, Dragoon quickly spun around and in one swift movement punch the alicorn in his face. The impact of his fist knocked the villain out cold, his black body collapse right in front of him. With that over, Dragoon walked over to were the Power Ponies laid. While he was gone a ambulance arrived and were treating the heroes of their injures. The dragon walked to where Masked Matter-Horn was and put his claw on her shoulder. “Hey you alright?” He asked. The mask mare responded with a smile. “Were fine right now.” She said. “All thanks to you Hum Drum.” Dragoon smiled back.” Please Matter-Horn, I'm Dragoon now.” “You may have grown up and move out, but that still doesn't mean you aren't the same little boy that would come help us when we needed him.” She retorted. “Yeah, but nowadays it's more along the line of saving your sorry butts.” “Touche.” She replied. The two then started a small laugh, unheard by the others. And thus the city of Maretropolis was once again saved by Dragoon and the Power Ponies. Twilight was still in the middle of reading her book. She on the part where the main guy was finally accepting his loss when suddenly she heard snoring sounds. Lowering her book down, she spotted Spike sleeping with a comic over his face. She smile at the scene of her sleeping brother and got out of her bed. She trotted over to his basket and levitated the comic away from his head. She then place the comic under his bed and then tuck the blanket over him. “Goodnight Spike.” She said as she kissed him on the forehead. Twilight then returned back to her book, leaving the snoring the baby dragon to his slumber.
