Back In Business
I briefly meet my sisters eyes as we pass by. I can see the bags under her poor eyes and feel sorry for her. Even with me back home she still is burdened. At least I can help a little bit. Glancing into the sky I can tell it's almost my time. The sun's beauty and glow are disappearing rapidly. Taking a deep breath I step forward feeling my sister's ever watching eyes upon me. Raising my wings I channel my energy through my horn and it glows blue. One swift flap and I am in the air, the moon matching my speed as wing beat by wing beat we rise higher into the sky. The sun by now has disappeared, telling my sister it's now time for her to rest. Finally, my magic waning slightly, and sweat on my forehead I release the moon. I won't have to bother with it for a while now.
I stretch my wings as far out as they go and in loose spirals glide back to to the strong and steady earth. Wiping the sweat off my brow I give my sister, Tia a quick smile. In return she embraces me in a hug.
“Are you sure you're ready sis? Celestia says worry interlacing into her voice. “You still haven't recovered and I know how hard it is to deal with the moon and stars but dreams too?”
“Tia, you shouldn’t worry so much. It's time for me to get back into the swing of things. I miss the dreamworld. If it makes you worry less, I'll go easy tonight since it's the first time doing everything again.”
Celestia gives a long sigh. “I know I can't make you change your mind, but please do go easy it'll ease my heart.”
“I promise.”
“Thanks.”
“Now go get some rest, others might not see it, but I can tell you are tired. I mean, sheesh, look at those bags under your eyes.”
Tia opens her mouth in a silent gasp. “Oh dear, is it really that noticeable!?”
“It's not too bad.” I reassured my sister. “If you don't get any sleep it will be though. Now go.”
I give a quick shove to get her moving, making sure she heads to her chamber before moving off. It was going to be a long night. I climb to the top of one one the towers, taking the long ways so as to clam my heart and breathing. Truth be told I was nervous. It had been over a thousand years since I had done my all my duties.
Arriving at the top I looked around. It was beautiful a small gasp left my mouth. Tia hadn't let any expanse by. A small fire roared gently in the corner and the walls were covered in glass. So was the top giving me a full view of the night sky. From the outside I had noticed I couldn't look in, checking it out I saw spells giving me privacy layered all across the glass. This gave me some relief in fact. I had been worried everpony could see me. There were several small balcony leading into the open air too.
I walked swiftly to one now. I couldn't wait to get started. First things first was to deal with the stars. I already knew what to to do because earlier today I had taken the time to draw up a plan. My horn glowing once again I swiftly moved the necessary stars around and for that night only but up a special constellation. It was in the shape of my cutie mark telling everyone that I, once again was back in business. Finished, I found I wasn't as tired as I had feared. That didn't mean I wasn't though.
Back inside I took a moment to drink some water and get comfortable. This was going to be the hardest part. I had only done this a few times since I had come back. A pillow at my fore hooves and a blanket over my back I took a deep breath, remembering my promise to take it easy.
Eyes closed I sent my magic out, concentrating hard I lulled my body into a false sleep as all around the dreams started to come in. They rushed from all around screaming in my ears. I could feel the sweat coming back as my body trembled. It was too much I had to get out. Finding a break in the dreams I jumped into it and stood there. Catching my breath. I waited until I couldn't feel my body trembling anymore. It was hard to stop seeing as I wasn't actually awake anymore, just stuck in my head, my conscience. Once I felt prepared I turned back to the dreams. Looking for a simple one. I had decided to start off with a lovely dream not a nightmare. I would get to one later. Dream after dream passed me. Nothing catched my interest quite yet.
A few more dreams passed by before I choose one. It seemed to be of a pony in a candy store, not quite being able to decide what to get. One deep breath later I had plunged into it. Blinking my eyes I found my self in a colorful world full of candy. The sweet smell blossomed form every corner. I stood in the back corner to take in the dream. The pony in the dream kept pacing back in forth, you could see the frustration poring off of her. A few words would be need to calm this pony. I started walking forward as the dream began to fade. Crap, it looked like the pony was waking. I tried to pull back but found that something had rooted me into the dream. That didn't worry me too much it had happened before. Once the pony was awake I would find myself gone. I sat down to wait the pony to leave the dreamworld.
That didn't happen though. For the first time ever I saw the world through another pony's eyes. It was dark, everything looked grey. I couldn't help but shiver something was off. A light danced in the corner of my eye, no wait the pony's eye. It was moving closer. Scared I tried to leave, to wake up in my own body. It still wasn't working though.
A raspy voice called out of the dark. “I see you are awake, finally. I've waited a long time to do this. You should count yourself lucky. Why? You may ask. Well I'll be nice and tell.”
By now I was starting to get really afraid what was happening? To my luck, possibly the voice continued. “You are my first, the first of many. You, the one lucky pony, get to start it off. Doesn't that just make you happy and a little proud.” A grin leered out of the dark.
“My immobilizing spell is wearing off soon so I shall have to kill you now. I'm sorry, I would I have loved to talk for longer.”
'Immobilizing spell.' I thought, could it be, that's what is keeping me here? Distracted by my thought I didn't realize the light had gone out. Only when the smile came from the shadows did I remember my predicament. What if I died with the body! Oh god, my heart picked up the beat and faraway my body began to sweat and tremble once again. Oh no, oh no. Tia wouldn't be able to keep living if I died so soon after coming back. It had hurt her terribly when she had had to banish me. I couldn't do that to my sister, not again. All I could do is sit and wait though, I had no magic like this, I was helpless. I couldn't even save this pony.
“Bye-bye.” Whispered the raspy voice, I saw a glint of metal flash through the night. I heard something whistle through the air before the swish of flesh being forced apart. I winced waiting for the pain that never came. I had forgotten once again I wasn't apart of this body. My vision, no the pony’s vision went spotted. Bit by bit it got darker. It's eyes struggled to stay open. Then it was gone. There was nothing. Everything was black, I screamed as I fell into the abyss of death.
