Celestia's new Baby sister
Load Full StoryNext ChapterCelestia was a very beautiful filly, with her white coat, bright pink mane and tail and light purple eyes. She took after her mother who had white, purple and orange sunrise mane, tail and coat and orange eyes. Celestia loved being the only child, it made her closer to her parents especially her dad. They did everything together, but that was all about to change. Her mother was pregnant with a girl who would soon take half of her parents love from her. She didn't like the idea that her dad might spend more time with her sister than her. But she loved the idea that she'll have someone to play with when her parents are at really long meetings. But she was all ready regrading that thought. Her mother was all ways throwing up and had no time to play anymore. She would spend most of her nights in the bath room and had no time to read Celestia a bedtime story. Her father was juggling his work and her mothers work since she was in no shape to do them. Her was so busy that he had no time for Celestia anymore. She became very lonely, being royalty she had a tutor couldn't go to a regular school, so she had no friends. Nine months later it was time for the baby to be born, "my water broke." they rushed her to the hospital but Celestia and her father where forced to wait in the waiting room. *WAH WAH WAH* Celestia was so happy there her sister cry. The baby had a blue coat, a dark blue mane and tail ans light blue eyes. she took after her father who had a dark blue coat, dark purple mane and tail and purple eye.
"Whats her name?" I asked.
"Luna, princess Luna."
Thus here sister was born, she thought that everything would go back to normal, but a baby Alicorn is a handful. With wings and a horn she pretty much torn the whole castle upside down. Luna would never want to go to sleep, she'd have the queen running around the castle all evening until she passed out. Luna was a very picky eater and did not like the taste of breast milk, so she started using a bottle a lot earlier than most babies. When she became a filly she was very smart and loved using the royal Cantorlot voice. Fortunately,as she got older she used it less.
Celestia liked playing with her sister except her sister was more mature than she was. Even at her young age. Physical games such as tag, hide and go seek, or races quickly grew out of Luna's focus and she tunnel visioned on her studies. So, as Celestia played,Luna studied. Soon enough, Luna began surpassing Celestia. Celestia didn't care much, being more free spirited, but kept on just to please her parents...and tutor who scared her into working.
"Dear sister, why do you not try harder to succeed in our academics?" Luna asked her older sister as they studies together.
Celestia was busy busy levitating books to hear the full statement. "Well...they're no fun. Boring old facts, stupid math equations, and why study magic when you're as good as i am?"
Luna looked up from her book,an annoyed looked plastered on her face. Her horn lit a dark blue and she pulled the books away with little effort.
"Good ,are you? I'm afraid not sister. If you do not practice, someone will surpass you, thus, being better at having a shot at the crown."
"Just what are you Insinuating, Luna?"
Luna simply released the books and left the room. No more words did she say. She left Celestia all alone to Wallow in her thoughts.
"Does Luna want a chance for the Throne," she thought, "She doesn't have a chance because she's younger than me. Plus, I'm the next in line."
Celestia, reassured, went back to her playing. Back in her room Luna looked at all the books on her desk. She studied everything she should and did as she was told. When it came to her Luna knew she was the better sister and was certain she would get the throne. But it all was came back to Celestia, she was older and some how better at her in most things. ‘She is not serious enough’ Luna thought to herself. ‘Thou clearly doesn't want thy throne.’ Luna kept telling this to herself but her heart always overpowered her thoughts. What if she hurts Celestia by taking the throne, what if Celestia is secretly studying and only pretending not to care about her studies? The last thing Luna wanted to do was hurt her sisters feelings.
“Lulu?” Celestia walked in disrupting Luna’s thoughts. “Are you okay?
“I’m fine, why does thou ask?”
Celestia smiled, “no reason, I’m just glad you're okay.”
Luna sat next to her older sister. ‘She must know, I won’t hold back.’ “Tia, hast thou thought about one's role in the kingdom?”
Celestia knew where this was going, “it’s true isn't it?” Celestia’s eyes grew big filled with tears. “You do want to take the throne from me! I know I’m lacking in my studies but I’m trying as hard as I can. I’ll improve I promise, but all I've always wanted to be just like dad and run the kingdom. I understand that you want it but please don’t take this away from me.”
Luna was shocked she had no idea that her sister wanted this so much. “No! I wasn't thinking that at all. Dearest Tia I love you and would never remove the crown from thy siblings head.”
Suddenly Celestia’s mood changed from sad to sinful and she put a grin on her face. “Oh sister I know you won’t.” She said in a tone of evil, Luna turned her head in surprise. “See no matter how hard you try you’ll never be as good as me. I’m the oldest and therefore the rightful ruler of Equestria and nopony, not even you, is gonna take that from me.”
Luna gulped, ‘what devil has possessed my sister’ she wondered, “a-and if thou tries?”
“I know just how to deal with foul mouth so I suggest thou holdest thy tongue.” Celestia’s facial expression changed once again this time to happiness. “See you later Lulu, I’m glad we had this talk.”
Celestia walked out and Luna was left there in awe. What had just happened? Did her sweet and kind sister just threaten her, in Shakespearean?! This was very strange and Luna was going to discuss it with her parents, but they had planned a trip to the far side of Equestria. She didn't want them to worry while away and she certainly didn't want them to cancel. ‘Tis immense news and I shall tell. Thou trip is for while only, so for now I must hold thy tongue.’
Soon Luna wished she’d done otherwise, on there trip her parents were ambushed. Her father was injured, all survived. When home he was rushed to the medic his wounds were healed with time. But in his weakened state he caught a deadly virus, this made Celestia very upset. She was closest to her father and stayed by him everyday, but this caused her to neglect her studies. Giving Luna the perfect time to surpass her and have a better chance at taking the throne. Pretty soon Celestia didn't do anything she wouldn't eat or sleep, she barely moved. Luna would come in and force her to eat so she won’t starve to death. Then one day Celestia dozed off and when she woke up she saw her father asleep. She stared at him for hours but when he didn't wake up she screamed. He was gone, the man that she loved so dear and spent most of her time with was gone, and there was nothing she could do about it. After the funeral Celestia barely came out of her room, Luna decided to check on her one day.
She knocked three times, “Tia, is thou awake?” When she heard paper shuffling she walked in. The room was a mess, feathers from her pillow lied everywhere. Papers where scattered on the floor, looking closely she could see that they were pages from her diary. Most of them were about her father and others letters she would send him if she could. Looking towards the desk she saw everything on it pushed to the floor and the chair flipped over. Moving her eyes toward the bed she saw the pillows ripped and the stuffing coming out of her covers. Then she saw a disheveled Celestia.
"Dearest sister is thou... okay?" Luna asked in a comforting way.
"Does it look like I'm OK" Celestia responded.
Luna decided it was best to be near her sister in her time of need So she decided to go wrap a wing around her older sister. Yet, As she walked over, She was met with the barrage of balled up paper and the Carcass of what what's was Celestia's diary. She has stopped. Barely dodging the oncoming attack she eventually made it to her crying sister who still put up a fight in Luna's young loving embrace. Eventually Celestia calmed down and cried silently.
"There there...That it up my sister."
Luna barely heard the sobs of her sister. "It's not fair...Not fair he was taken away from me."
"Yes...I also know how you feel. we both buried our father on this day."
"No no no... you don't understand." Celestia angrily pushed her sister away. "Before you were born and while you had your head deep in the books, I got close to my father. While you and him had nothing more than a Mere acquaintanceship status, We were on another level ,my sister. Something you could only hope to accomplish with him...But never would."
"What exactly are you saying?"
"What I am saying is that don't walk into my room and act like you know what I'm going through. We both may have lost a father...but I...I...I lost a close companion also. Now, please get out. As you can see...i have to clean...and begin studying."
Luna, keeping her royal and stoic appearance, walked outside and magically closed the door. One the outside, she looks unfazed about the series of events, but internally, she was heart broken. A single tear fell out her eye which wiped it away.
"Conceal...don't feel," Luna told herself, "You have eternity to fix that relationship...now...work on your studies."
Many weeks would pass before the two sisters would speak to each other. The dinner table quiet. No laughter ringing through the hallways of the castle. Only Grim silence that reminded everyone Of the past. Only when their mother called them together, was when the sisters exchanged pleasantries. Even then, they were dry, generic, and emotion less. Try as she may the mother couldn't return the "home" feeling into the castle...in her lifetime.
"Isn't it grand for us to spend time together?" Their mother spoke in a soft voice. She was wrapped in a blanket. "This picnic was just what we needed."
"Yes, Mother. This picnic helped us all out for the better." Said Celestia
Luna simply nodded as continued reading her book. The picnic went fine as each family member exchanged small talk, or jokes to end the awkward silence that arose. When nothing else could be said, their mother decided to bring up a difficult topic.
"Girls, you know my health has been deteriorating ever since your father passed. That's the way Alicorns function. Once their mate passes the other one follows shortly."
Both sisters went to speak, but their mother raised her hoof to shush them. "In my condition, I'm in no state to raise and lower the sun and moon. That's is why I brought you two out here. I'm splitting the duties between you two. Celestia, you will have the sun, and Luna the moon. You names mean what they do for a reason," She chuckled quietly,"Before I pass, I need you two to control the Sun and Moon seamlessly. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes,mother." Both sister stated. The sadness of losing their mother outweighed the joy of controlling the Sun or Moon.
"Good. Now, the spell to do it isn't complicated. Just takes a lot of concentration."
On her first try, without her mother's assistance, Celestia managed to move the sun...just a little, but enough to show improvement. Luna, on the other hoof, had the hardest time moving the moon. No matter how she tried, it wouldn't move from its place high in the sky. But Celestia being the older sister decided to show Luna how it was done. She was able to move the moon just a little, but more than Luna. Her mother was impressed that she could move both sun and moon.
“That’s great Celestia, but this is Luna’s job and she must do it on her own.” She said while comfortingly patting Luna on the back for trying.
“But I can do both by my self Luna doesn't need to worry about it.” Celestia knew she was lacking in her studies so she thought if she did this than Luna won’t be able to take her throne.
“Celestia don’t make this harder on yourself, now go study while your sister practices.”
Celestia left in an outrage, she went to her room and thought of ways to beat Luna, that’s when she went crazy. At night when everypony was asleep Celestia was visited by a spirit. It was the spirit of her dead father and she was sure she was seeing things.
“My daughter what has gotten into you?” He said with a stern look on his face. Of course she didn't want to talk back to it, that would be crazy, but it is her father. “Has life not treated you well?”
“No, my life is great. I was born into royalty, I have a mother who loves me, and a sister who’s..”
“Who’s better than you?” Celestia nodded in agreement. “Celestia don’t ever think anypony is better than you. We are all equal on our own level, Luna’s level is just more serious than yours.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Luna is great at what she does but can be better if her big sister is there to help her out and have fun.”
“Luna doesn't have time to be fun, all she wants is my throne.”
“The throne is not yours if you don’t work for it. I can see that both of you want it very much but Luna doesn't threaten to get it. If she does get it it’s not because she’s better than you it’s because you didn't try.”
“But I’m the oldest and the next in line why must I try so hard to get what’s rightfully mine?”
“Like I said it’s not yours if you don’t deserve it.”
Celestia’s eyes started to fill with tears, “I’m not trying to hurt her. I just hate how she came into my life and now is taking everything from me.”
“If you wish to get what you deserve then I suggest you heed my words. Be a good sister to Luna and a good daughter to your mother.”
With that he disappeared, and even if she was going crazy, Celestia did as her father wished. She spent the next few days locked up in her room studying, she learned all the things Luna did and more. Her mother was getting worried when she didn't come out of her room. But she knew that she must be practicing magic because every morning Celestia would raise the sun with out being asked. Even when Luna couldn't raise the moon at times she would do it for her.
Weeks later and their mother lay in her bed. Her final moments coming. Her breathing was staggered and the warmth left her body. Yet, even as she began to pass away, a smile lay on her face. Both her daughters were by her side to see it.
"My two...very loving daughters...i fear that my time with you has drawn close...soon ill be with your father. Both of you have made much process in your studies and and moving the sun and moon."
"But mother...even with all our progress...we haven't gained our cutie marks." Celestia asked. She had long ago accepted her mother's fate and barely felt grief.
"That's because you truly haven't figured out your talent. Yes, you can raise the sun and moon...but why does that make you special. It is just...another spell." Their mother took in one long breath. Her eyes began to close, yet reopened with one final job. "I want you girl...to split the throne. You both have done so much, so it would be unfair to just give it to one....L-l-look at that...it's time to lower the sun and raise the moon."
Both Luna and Celestia looked out the window. It was almost that time, but they still had time to spend. With their mother. When they turned back to her,her eyes were closed and the smile on her face had grown. She was gone and with their father. Luna began tear up,yet Celestia spoke.
"You can grieve, Luna." Celestia said. "Ill lower the sun and raise the m-"
"No...ill control the moon...it's my job." Luna lit her horn and began to move the moon. At first it didn't Budge but slowly it did. Luna started to struggle and sweat, yet refused her sister's help. Celestia, taking the sign, started to lower the sun. Within a few strain filled moments, the two celestial orbs crossed paths causing a glorious eclipse. It lasted for Only a couple of seconds before for the orbs finished the course And the night now settled.
Luna, when the moon was in place, began to cry. Not only since she successfully moved the moon on her own, but also because Her mother was Deceased. Celestia rushed in and embraced her sister. She also began to sob. Within the loved filled embrace a light, dim as a Star in the sky, grew bright as a dying star before fading quickly.
"Celestia...did we just..."
"Luna...i think we did..."
Both mares checked their flanks before Re-entering the embrace. "We finally got a cutie marks!" They both cheered. The embrace ended, and both went to the window and agreed that that was the most beautiful night they have ever seen.
