Epilogue Finale

Previous Chapter

Isaac felt himself floating through emptiness. Inside, he knew only calm. His fight was over. He had destroyed the Markers, once and for all. He was finally able to rest.

For what felt like years, he brought a smile to his nonexistent face, content with the knowledge that his suffering was finally over.

In that moment of fullness, he knew happiness at last.

"Isaac..." a voice whispered to him.

Before him, a shape began to develop. It took the form of a large tree, made of crystals. In the center was a star of some sort, that glowed with energy.

"Wha..." Isaac spoke as he failed to form words.

"Life itself is in your debt, Clarke." It spoke. "You have stopped the Markers from destroying so many forms of life within this reality. However insignificant you may think it to be, a victory is still a victory. And yours shall not go unrewarded."

Without warning, the world around him began to spin as blood-red light flooded his mind, causing him to scream breathlessly into the void around him. Isaac felt the peace, the calm, the happiness, all being torn away from his very soul. His memories burned with the sensation of death returning to him, as bones and flesh began to make itself acquainted with his senses once more. Everything around him morphed into darkness as the warm embrace of the afterlife was replaced with the cold harshness of the living.

Fluttershy trotted down the small room that laid out the final resting place of the Engineer she had known. The room itself was rather large and empty, save for the grave that rested in the center of it.

The mare let out a gasp as she walked in, watching as a series of lights began to pour through small cracks in the human's resting place.

Inside, she could hear the horrific sounds of bones crunching, skin churning, and metal being morphed along with the rest of his dead form.

She let out small amounts of tears, praying to any deity that this was just another nightmare. That the Marker hadn't gotten to him.

The grave stopped rustling as a small amount of red light began to pulse from within.

Just as she was about to turn and run, she heard a loud gasp echo within its confines, followed by a series of familiar coughs.

"I... Isaac?" She said in a hushed tone.

The coughing subsided long enough for her to hear a break in the pattern.

"Fl- Flutter... shy?"
