A Nightmare Returns

Nirvana and Silver were now just making their way through the castle. Well, Silver wasn’t exactly walking, more like her passed out body was being carried on Nirvana’s shoulder after passing out from both the back rub she received and the amount of wine she had drank.

Nirvana giggled, shaking her head. “Such a silly mare.” She said to herself.

On her way to Silver’s room, she met Heart and Golden in the halls as they were on their way to the dining hall. “Oh, hello. I was just taking Silver to her room.”

“She get drunk or something?” Heart asked, looking at the limp form of Nirvana’s shoulder.

Nirvana giggled. “A little, yes, but my back rub didn’t help her situation any.”

“Back rub?” inquired Heart. Somehow, those two words made her own back tingle.

"She quite enjoyed it." Nirvana giggled.

"Well I'll just have to get one sometime later on myself to experience the feeling. Heart and I were just on our way to the dining hall after finding our generators." replied Gold.

Nirvana’s eyes widened. “You found them?”

“Yep. Took a while, but we got there eventually.” Heart said. “They… certainly are powerful…”

“Oh my. You didn’t touch them did you?” Nirvana asked, clearly worried.

“I didn’t.” Gold replied immediately.

“Ahaha…” Heart laughed nervously. “Maybe… I just brushed against it…”

The alicorn gasped. “Oh no. How do you feel right now? Any nausea, headaches, trouble thinking? Any problems with your horn?”

“Nothing that I can notice… It just… felt really painful.” Heart said.

“I almost touched it, but, as I told Heart, I decided against it.” Gold stated.

“Heart, whatever you do, don’t use magic until I can take a look at you. Alicorn magic is highly unstable and sits on a delicate triangular balance. If it’s thrown off….” Nirvana couldn’t finish, letting the sentence trail off as it was. “Just… don’t use magic. I’ll be back after I lay Silver down in her bed.”

Heart could only shiver as she thought what might happen to her. “Ok… I won’t use magic.” she agreed.

“Good.” With that, Nirvana walked on down the hall, Silver still snoring on her shoulder as she walked out of sight.

“So, should we wait for her or get some food in our stomachs?” Gold asked, her stomach gurgling loudly.

“I think we should get something to eat.” agreed Heart.

With that, Golden Eye and Platinum Heart made their way to the dining hall to sate their hunger.

As Nirvana lay Silver down in her bed, she couldn’t help but wonder what the zebra was dreaming about. Being as she had some of Luna’s powers, her curiosity got the best of her and she touched her horn to Silver’s forehead, entering her dream. At first all she saw was herself, lied across, oddly enough, Silver’s bed. Then it dawned on her that, bouncing up and down on Nirvana’s length, was Silver.

Nirvana’s face instantly ignited into a bright blush, before quickly exiting the dream. She straightened herself, trying to ignore the heat in her crotch as well as the aroused throbbing. ‘Note to self… Don’t do that unless you plan on making those fantasies come true.’ She thought and made her way back to the dining hall, where she found Heart and Gold. “Silver’s in her room, sleeping soundly.”

“That’s good.” replied Heart

“Now, Heart.” Nirvana turned to the mentioned mare. “You’ve absorbed a dangerous level of magic and, unless it remains utterly stable, it needs to be extracted.”

“How do you know if it is not stable?” Heart asked.

“If it’s trying to drain the life force out of you to stabilize itself.” Nirvana replied in a blunt tone.

“Y-you mean… she c-could…” Gold stammered.

“Yes, Gold. I knew from the start that Silver’s plan to get you back was dangerous, Heart. I’m just as hesitant about letting it happen as I am about letting you leave, but it’s a risk Silver is willing to take.” Nirvana explained. “Now if the magic already resonated, your class just rose quite a few levels. If not, then the precautions will have to be taken.”

“Now, with risks in mind. How, exactly, would I be able to use such magic once we have found a way for me to tap into it without taking the risk that Heart had taken?” Gold asked.

“I’ll explain once I’m done making sure Heart is well.” Nirvana stated as she walked towards Heart and held out her hand. “I must enter your body… Not in that way, Gold. Stop snickering.”

Gold had to try so hard to suppress the urge to burst into laughter. “I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.”

Heart just rolled her eyes at Gold. “Get your head out of the gutter.” She stretched out her hand towards Nirvana. “How long will this take?” she asked.

“It depends on how deep the magic set its roots.” Nirvana’s horn began to glow as she summoned the magic needed. “Now this may feel weird and your body will try to reject me, so you may feel some stinging. Just try to relax and tell me when you’re ready.”

Heart took a deep breath. “I’m ready.”

Nirvana touched her horn to Heart’s forehead, instantly leaving her own body and entering Heart’s, pushing through her body’s defenses against her. Deep in Heart’s aura, making rings like it had around the orb, but around Heart’s soul, her own magic weaving in and out of it, making the streams into a double helix, before melding into a single stream of raw power, but it seemed perfectly stable.

“How odd…” Nirvana’s voice echoed through Heart. “It resonated perfectly. No seams what-so-ever.”

“Really?” Heart seemed astonished. “You sure?”

Nirvana’s emotion magic reached out and brushed against the compassion magic. Heart’s magic as well as the compassion recognised Nirvana and coiled lovingly around her soul. “Awww… How sweet. Even your magic loves me.” She giggled. “You seem fine. Just keep a close eye on it. Alicorn magic does have power spasms. It will take a while to get control over, but it only causes minor mischief.” Nirvana said as she retreated from Heart, back into her own body.

Heart opened her eyes. “So… everything’s all good?” she asked again.

“Yes, Heart. You’re now fused with alicorn magic.” Nirvana giggled.

“So… she’ll live?” Gold asked

“But of course!” The alicorn stated, grinning.

“That’s good.” Gold said, wiping away the sweat of worry. “Now, about my question before you checked Heart’s magic.”

“Ah, yes. About that. Considering that you don’t have a horn to focus magic, I’ll need to teach you a complicated form of magic manipulation… With your hands. It takes massive amounts of focus to force magic to be wielded from anywhere but a horn, though it can be done.” Nirvana explained. “Though Silver’s plan on getting the magic to resonate with you will have to be used. I’ll have to splice it and give it to your body slowly, letting your soul and it resonate.”

“I understand. When do we begin?” Gold asked.

“Tomorrow. Before we make for the Crystal empire. I’m to test Silver’s splicing theory while you three sleep. I have little use of sleep anyway.” Nirvana replied.

“Then I will need as much sleep as I can get before then.”

Nirvana nodded. “That you will. I have never witnessed a pegasus absorb alicorn magic. This will most definitely be a historic event.”

Gold walked up to Nirvana and wrapped her arms around the alicorn. “Goodnight Nirvana.” she said then planted a kiss on her lips, hoping that it could last longer before pulling away and headed down the hall to her room.

Nirvana looked after Gold as she left. “She’s taking this well, Heart. They both are.”

“Yeah… I see. But nothing has happened to me yet… It will only be after I leave when they will both… not be themselves.” Heart said.

Nirvana sighed. “I know… As their lover, I’m to do my best to keep them sane and as happy as possible… But… The truth is… I’m scared for you too.”

“I know you are.” Heart sighed.

“I… I might even cry in front of Celestia when she takes you… Assuming she’ll take only you.”

“She’ll only take me. I know that much.”

“And what will she do to me when she finds out that only my magic at it’s purest form can change you back to a stallion?” Nirvana asked her.

“Wait… only you can change me back into a stallion?” Heart asked.

“High level spells like this that were done by a certain magic, can only be undone by that same magic.”

“I never knew that… I guess Celestia just has to deal with me being a mare.” Heart said, laughing coldly.

“Both you and Celestia will hate me for it.” Nirvana added, looking away. “You won’t remember any of this.”

“I- I know…” whispered Heart, looking down. “I don’t want that any more than you or my sisters do.”

“I could… you know… always just block the emotions you have for me from getting tampered with.” Nirvana suggested. “I can do that.”

“There’s a risk that Celestia will see that… Then she’ll force all of us to stay.” Heart sighed.

“Curse it all!” Nirvana cried, her emotional magic flaring to her distress and anger. The pressure of the room dropped as did the temperature. “A thousand years she trapped her own friend on the moon, not even once giving me a chance to calm and explain my emotionally irrational actions! And still she punishes me! Is forgiveness such a terrible thing to ask for from somepony who strives to make magic out of friendship and harmony!? Does it please her to make me shed my tears!? I’ve learned from my wrongs! Why must she keep hammering me lower!? I’m not the monster!” The alicorn wailed. “I’m sick of it! I’m sick of the pain she put me through after the pain I went through with my sister! I’m sick of it all!” The chair next to Nirvana suddenly began to crack, before being compressed into nothing more than a speck, then disappearing into nothing.

Heart looked at the space where the chair had been, wide eyed. “Calm down, Nirvana.” Heart said in a soothing tone. “Just… try and focus before you destroy everything around you.”

“I-I’m so sick of Celestia…” Nirvana whimpered, laying her head on the table and sobbing. “I-I’m sick of crying… I-I-I… a-actually feel like I’m g-going to be sick…” She groaned and fell out of the chair onto her hands and knees on the floor, heaving. “O-oh Gods, n-” She was cut off when she hurled her half digested dinner onto the floor, tears streaming down her face.

Heart ran over to Nirvana and knelt down. “Come on, let’s get you in bed, Nirvana.”

Nirvana turned around and hugged Heart, burying her tear stained face into the mare’s chest, bawling like a foal.

Heart rubbed Nirvana’s back. “It’s okay… I’m still here.” whispered Heart.

The alicorn didn’t have the strength to respond, only squeezing Heart tighter, never wanting to let go.

“I’ll help you to your room, Nirvana.” Heart offered. “I’d like to see it.”

Nirvana slowly nodded, trying to calm her crying down enough to walk. She looked down at what she had thrown up and cringed. “I-I’m *hick* sorry… I s-should clean that up…”

“Allow me.” Heart’s horn glowed and the vomit disappeared. “Now, just tell me the way to your room. I can carry you there, if need be.”

“I-I stay in *hick* L-Luna’s old room, but i-if you want to see mine, i-it’s *hick* across from y-yours.” Nirvana stuttered past a few tears that continued to leak from her eyes. “But I w-wouldn’t want you to *hick* carry me.” She tried to stand, only to find herself too weak to do so, making her whimper loudly.

“I can, and I will carry you.” Heart spoke. She grabbed Nirvana and hoisted her up up off the ground. “Your room is closest, so I’ll lay you down there.”

Nirvana blushed. “T-thank you…”

Heart started to walk, almost falling on the first step due to the excess amount of weight, but continuing on perfectly after that.

Nirvana wrapped her arms around Heard and nuzzled into her neck, her tears slowly drying up as she calmed. “I… I love you, H-Heart.” She said in a cracking whisper.

“I love you too, Nirvana.” replied Heart, smiling. She soon approached the hall that held the many chambers that belonged to alicorns, mostly long dead. Carrying Nirvana towards the room she had mentioned, Heart stopped in front of the door and looked at the crest cutie mark on the door. It was the same winged heart that had been on the drawing. “So this is where you used to stay?”

“Yes… My sister and I were put across from each other, because we were related. Celestia and Luna never liked separating family.” Nirvana replied. “I guess I slithered pretty far up her arse for her to want to so badly separate you from your sisters.”

“I guess you did.” said Heart, opening the door with magic and walking inside.

Nirvana’s room was walking into an argument between Celestia and Luna. The entire coloration was black and white, but split right down the center of it, even on the bed. On the black side, it was accented by elegant white designs, something almost as tribal as her cutie mark had been. The white side was the same, but with black and mirrored it perfectly. Like in Heart’s room, there was a large bookshelf in the far right, containing numerous titles.

Nirvana clung to Heart still, even when she laid the alicorn down in the bed. “P-please… will you stay with me for our last night together?” The alicorn begged.

“I was… actually thinking of doing that.” Heart admitted.

Nirvana’s face lit up. “R-really?” She asked with a huge smile.

“Yeah. I was really thinking of staying with you…” Heart said, lying down next to Nirvana.

Nirvana giggled and pulled Heart against her. “But, um… My night gown. I don’t wish to sleep in a dress.”

“Well… I’m not stopping you. Do as you wish.” Heart said, a slight blush crawling up her face.

The alicorn caught Heart’s blush, knowing what she was feeling about Nirvana undressing in front of her, making her blush herself. A whole nother side of her came out just to make her say this: “T-then do you mind if, I don’t know… If we sleep in our underwear?” Nirvana immediately wondered where that had come from, but was too shocked that she had said it to take it back.

Heart’s face went completely crimson. “Ahahaha…” she laughed nervously. Then she actually thought about it. “Well… I don’t mind.” she agreed.

Nirvana’s jaw nearly dropped. ‘Well that was certainly unexpected...’ She reached over and grabbed the bottom of Heart’s shirt. “Let me help you with that.”

The unicorn lifted her arms up, allowing Nirvana to pull it off easier.

As soon as Nirvana had pulled the shirt over Heart’s breasts, she immediately covered them again, a deep blush on her face. “C-c-c-couldn’t find a bra?” She stammered.

Heart’s face was so red, somepony might actually think that was her coat colour. “W-Well… you did wake me up really early today… I didn’t have time to do anything.”

The alicorn blushed again. “I’m sorry.”

“N-no… it’s fine…” Heart blushed deeper. “You can… continue if you want.”

Nirvana pulled the shirt up again, making Heart’s breasts visible. Sure she had seen them already, but then she had been Nightmare Moon. They were like she had made them, all about the same size as her sisters, larger sized Ds. Nirvana’s mouth went dry as she finally pulled the shirt all the way off. “Oh… my…”

Heart blushed and looked away.

Nirvana couldn’t stop her hand. It moved almost on it’s own accord towards Heart’s right breast, before gently groping it. It was soft, but held some firmness to it. Nirvana blushed harder at her own forwardness.

Heart moaned softly, allowing Moon to touch her. She didn’t care.

Nirvana pulled her hand away, not wanting to take things too far. Heart had already set the line and Nirvana was going to follow it like a life tether. She moved her hands down to her jeans and undid them, letting Heart slip them off herself.

Heart pulled them off and dropped them off the bed. She then looked at Moon. “You are undressing me… but I don’t seem to be returning the favour…”

The alicorn blushed. “I-I was getting there.” She replied and rolled over, so Heart could get to the zipper on the back of her dress.

Heart slowly unzipped the dress, slowly pulling it off the alicorn. Once it was completely off, she dropped it off the side of the bed to join her jeans.

Nirvana rolled back over to face the unicorn next to her, before pulling her into a tight embrace, not caring if Heart’s braless breasts rubbed against her. “Thank you… For everything. You and your sisters have made me the happiest I’ve been in a thousand years. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you, Heart. It just won’t feel right without you, being here with your sisters.”

“It won’t feel right without you either, Nirvana…” whispered Heart. “While I won’t be able to remember you… a part of me will always be empty without you.”

Nirvana pushed her lips against Heart’s, kissing her with built up passion.

Heart pulled Nirvana even closer, deepening the passionate kiss, pushing her tongue against Nirvana’s lips.

Nirvana parted her lips, accepting Heart’s tongue, letting it slip past her lips and enter her mouth to play with her own. She rubbed her hands down Heart’s back, before wrapping her arms around Heart’s waist and pulling her up against her body. She so badly wanted Heart, wanted to make the mare’s night special for her, but Heart had already restricted that and Nirvana wanted to respect that.

Heart gripped Nirvana’s mane, pulling her closer. She knew she wanted nothing more than to have one last great night with Nirvana… but she couldn’t in good conscience.

The alicorn broke the kiss long, pleasurable moments later, panting. She buried her face into Heart’s chest and cuddled the mare against her as she pulled the blanket over them both with her magic. “I should just vanish with you all… Just leave Equestria… But your mother would stop at nothing to find me and when she did, she wouldn’t care who I really am. She’d kill me… Heart… If this fails… I may die.”

“I understand… but…” Heart couldn’t think of anything to say. She was right. If this plan failed, Silver, Gold, Nirvana… they would all be wounded to the core… forever.

“Losing somepony else also may cause my emotions to spike again.” A tear slid down Nirvana’s cheek. “I-I don’t want to be Nightmare Moon again!”

“And you won’t…” assured Heart. “Just try and remain calm…”

“B-b-b-but… Ok…” Nirvana said past a weak whimper. She rubbed her face against Heart’s chest and tried to relax, closing her eyes.

Heart rubbed Nirvana’s mane, closing her eyes as well. She was beginning to doubt her own plan, but she shook herself. She couldn’t doubt this plan… it had to work… it MUST work…

Silver was woken from a deep sleep by a whisper in her ear. She quickly jolted awake and snapped her eyes open, scanning the whole room for anypony, finding nothing. Yet there was still a quiet whisper in her ear, not soft enough to ignore and not loud enough to understand. It was driving her up the wall. She pushed herself up from the bed and looked around again.

“Hello?” She called, only making the voices speak faster. She brought her hands up to her ears and wiggled her finger in each of them, thinking it was her mind playing tricks on her, but when she removed her hands, the voices continued to whisper. “Ugh! What the hell!?” Silver exclaimed, throwing her hands up.

Silver grumbled as she crawled out of bed and searched around the room for anything that could make such odd noises, once again finding nothing. It wasn’t until she tried the shadow portal to the generator did the voice finally become recognisable.

“Young mare who once was male, you seek what magic that shouldn’t fail. Tell me what it is you seek to protect and the power you need will resurrect. If your reason is just, I shall blow away the dust. The magic of shadow will be yours to command and be there to protect and serve at your every demand.” The voice said

“W-who are you?” Silver asked.

“I once was known as Silver Shade, but what once was strong soon fades. I am now not but a soul, trapped within the magic, but still whole. I wish to pass on my power, so that in it those you love may shower. Your affection is strong, though what you love will not last long. What is it you must protect? Who must you defend from neglect?”

Silver sighed. “My sister is making a sacrifice to make sure me and my other sister are happy with Nirvana. But I’m afraid, we all are. We’ll not only be risking Heart’s love for us, but we’ll be risking the life of the mare who loves us.”

“My dear zebra, you have passed my test. If only there was a way for me to fest. Touch the orb and my magic you will absorb.”

“Ok…” Silver walked towards the orb of power, her hand out stretched, soon making contact with it. A surge of energy surged through her, making her stiffen, but something made her relax, making her feel warm and comfortable, like in the night. Her vision soon faded and Silver blacked out.

Gold had been asleep for the past few hours, that is, until she heard a whisper. Snapping her eyes open, she bolted upright, looking around the room. She got out of her bed, ready to confront whoever had whispered to her.

“Who’s th-” Gold stopped as she glanced around her golden room. All she could find were the gold drapes, blowing in the gentle breeze from her open window. “there…”

She walked carefully around her room searching for any possibilities for a place that a whisper could be heard from, but found nothing, then slid back into bed.

The whispers grew more insistent, trying to obtain Gold’s attention.

“Where is that voice coming from, I’ve checked every sing-... The secret passageway to the generator.” Gold said, getting out of bed and walking over to the wall and pushing the brick that she had bruised her knuckles on earlier, the wall sliding open and revealing the way to the generator. “Hello… are you in here?” she called as she walked into the passageway.

The whispers had grown louder, even more insistent. They seemed to be coming from the generator.

The closer Gold got, the clearer the voice began to grow clearer. “Hello?” she called out hoping for a reply. ”Are you down here?”

Gold couldn’t have been sure, but whisper seemed to say ‘closer, child’...

Gold kept walking, following the beckoning call of the whisper. “Who are you?”

A gentle chuckle happened seemingly right next to Gold’s ear. “We are known by many names, dear child of Celestia… But you may call us princess Golden Hourglass, keeper of time, cousin of thy mother.” A voice said to her.

“F-forgive me your highness, but how are you able to talk to me?” Gold asked, continuing to walk the remainder of the passageway to the generator.

The voice chuckled again. “An alicorn’s soul never really dies, dear child. Thy simply… connect. Tis not true for magic? Even thou is filled with it, forever attached to thy soul. The magic keeps us sustained and allow us to throw our voice into thy head.”

“So… what is it that has you beckoning me?” The pegasus asked.

“Let us ask thou something… What doth thy cherish most in life? What would thou risk thy life to protect? Let thy reasons be just and We shall bestow upon thee the power We live by. The power We control.”

“My sisters, Silver and Heart, Nirvana, the only true love I have ever had, they are the ones that I cherish the most and I would risk my life to protect that which I cherish most. I just don’t want to lose any of them.” Gold replied. “I promised Heart that I would protect Silver and Nirvana with everything I could ever give, I don’t want to let her down, but I want to protect her too.”

“Child… With time there are always solutions. That is what time is, solution. For if one mistake is fixed of the past, that fix shall go on through the future, always evolving. Come closer, child, for We were blind and never learned to see once we could see. We wish to bestow our power upon thee.”

As the voice said this, Gold entered the chamber, the generator in the middle. “What must I do, your highness?” she asked.

“Please, child, call us Hourglass. Thy doth not need to address us what we once were.” The voice giggled.

“Then… What must I do, Hourglass, for you to bestow your power upon me?” Gold asked again.

“We must cross souls. Our magic shall flow freely through thy body.”

“Then… that means… I have to touch the generator?” Gold asked.

“Yes, child. It will not hurt.” The voice chuckled. “Tis only when we are touched without our consent, do we hurt.”

'So that's why Heart said not to touch it the first time, she touched it without consent.' She thought to herself as she walked forward with her hand outstretched, advancing until her hand made contact with the generator. Upon contact with the generator, a tingling sensation ran from her hand through her arm and to the rest of her body, causing her to relax, though her hand remained in contact. It was then that she blacked out.

Silver woke with a jolt. Her head ached slightly, but she felt tingly all over; in a good way. She sat up and scratched her head, looking around at her surroundings, finding she was back in her room. “How’d I get back in here?” Silver asked herself.

The mare pulled herself out of bed and stretched her stiff limbs, feeling them pop loudly, sighing in content as they did so.

Silver turned to her door and made for it, opening it slowly and peeking out. Everypony still seemed to be asleep she stepped out, not expecting somepony to walk out of the room across from her and slam into the zebra for a second time, knocking her on her ass again.

Gold expected to awaken where she had fallen asleep, but when she woke, she found herself in her room. 'How did I get here?' She thought to herself as she slipped out of bed and strode for the door, opening it and stepping out only to run into somepony.

She looked to see that it was her youngest sister, Silver Soul that she had run into. "Silver?" She said, lending a hand to pick her sister up.

Silver reached up and took the offered hand. “One of these days, I’ll just end up knocking you down instead, Gold.”

Gold giggled lightly. "One day, Silver, one day you will. So uh… anything eventful happen to you?"

“Meaning…”

"Did you get woke up in the middle of the night?"

“Yeah. Why, did you too?” Silver asked.

"Yeah. I checked every part of my room for it the first time I heard it, then tried going back to bed but I heard it again then went for my secret passageway to the generator." Gold replied. "Did the same happen to you when you touched it after talking to somepony?"

Silver’s eyes widened in surprise. “You too!? So you got your alicorn magic without even having to filter it!?”

"I-I guess, all I know is I passed out after I touched it."

“Holy shit, me too.”

"We'll need to see Nirvana about this, see what she can tell us." Gold stated

“Not yet. I think she’s still sleeping.” Silver stated. “Let’s go see if we can’t figure out how to cook breakfast… Well I cook breakfast…”

Gold giggled a bit. "I knew you'd remember that I'd burn toast."

“You burned ramen noodles. Now that was something.”

Gold blushed a bit out of embarrassment, unable to say a word.

Silver shook her head. “Never in my life had I seen that kind of cooking fail, but hay. You ran my ass over twice and nearly smashed my clit with a book. I think I got enough payment for me to playfully insult you for at least a day.”

Gold’s blush only deepened, still speechless, and now trying to hide her embarrassment behind her mane.

“Oh, stop that. I’m supposed to be the cute one.” Silver teased.

"You know how I get when I'm truly embarrassed, this is the first time you actually did that." Gold replied.

“Whatever. You can tell Heart if you want, but I’m pretty hungry.” Silver said, rubbing her empty stomach.

Gold knocked on Heart's door. "You awake?" she called. Nothing.

"Like Nirvana, she must still be asleep."

"I wonder where the library is, I know it's not like me but I just want to try reading something for a good cause."

Silver blinked a couple of times. She smacked Gold just to make sure the mare was actually standing there. “Who the fuck are you?”

"You silly mare, I'm your sister, Golden Eye. All I wanted was to try reading for the first time." Gold replied. "And why the hay did you hit me?"

“I just was making sure it was you I was looking at and not something my mind created.” Silver replied with a shrug.

"Oh come on, all I want to do is try reading a book for once." Gold playfully shot back.

“About what?”

"I was thinking of researching for ways for me to use alicorn magic if it truly is in me."

Silver giggled. “Oh, Gold. You poor mare. I have the book with me in my room.”
