The Crystal Heart is No Match Now

[4 years later Sombra's day] Sombra levitated himself around his giant house, exploring every crevice and corner. Suddenly he was tackled by his pet mouse Rascal. Sombra tumbled backwards and giggling held up his mouse with his horn.He had shown that he could use his magic perfectly well, no glitches what so ever. Currently his parents had been spending lots of time at the Crystal Library, looking for what their son's horn might have been caused by, which meant his time would be spending alot of time with his earth pony foalsitter, Diamond.

"Found something!" Topaz shouted out to her husband. A short while later Garnet came speeding around the corner to read the new information."Its says here the reason our son has this weird horn is because...."Topaz paused, now deeply afraid of what might happen if she ever saddened,hurt, or even angered Sombra, if he was never given the proper training to control his powerful magic. "G-g-garnet. I think we need to enrol our son in a magic school that allows practice for dark.....magic."Garnet stood there surprised at what his wife was saying."Why would we want to enrol him in a school for dark magic!?"Topaz turned to look at him, straight into his eyes."Because, Garnet you see.... Sombra was born with a dark magic horn. I am not sure what could happen if I ever made him sad,hurt, or mad or even if you did that, but we need to make sure we get this magic tamed before we take him out to the park or spend any real quality time with him outside of the house so he could make any real friends." Topaz looked genuinely hurt that she would have to send her son away to a dark magic boarding school. Almost every foalhood memory they could spend together would be lost in  10 years of boarding school! Topaz immediately starting crying, Garnet slid her onto his back and flew her back to their mansion. Being captain of the Royal Guard wasn't something to take for granted but it still rewarded well for stopping 15 wars onto the empire.

Sombra immediately trotted his way to the front of the house when he heard the door open and raced to the gigantic door to say hi to his parents. His big smile faded when he was presented with his mother sobbing into his dad's mane. Garnet took a moment to dismiss Diamond, then scoop him up, and bring them both up to his room. After walking up the flight of stairs and to his bed, he set his wife and son onto the bed. He crawled in after them, snuggling up close to Topaz with Sombra. She immediately grabbed Sombra and hugged him tightly."Mommy why are you so sad?"Topaz just cried harder, and levitated a tissue over for herself."I-I'm s-sad my baby because mommy and d-daddy have to send you a-away!"Sombra just looked at them with confusion."But, you'r all coming with me, right?"Garnet sighed."No, I'm sorry Sombra. We have to stay home, but don't worry little colt we will be right here waiting for you! And who knows you'll probably make lots of awesome friends! Plus, we still have a year left to spend together before you're able to go to your new school!" Garnet tried to make this situation well for them all. This seemed to help."I guess it's okay that we have a year left to spend with our little foal." Topaz smiled. She then pulled everyone close into a big hug."I love you all very much, more than you could ever imagine." She whispered. And they all fell asleep together holding each other in a secure grip.

[Meanwhile,Chrysalis's day] Chrysalis was flying around the changeling palace viewing what was there to explore. She had learned quickly about what special changeling spells she could cast and took a particular liking to dark magic. Thorax studied her behaviour around the castle closely, making sure she knew the right and wrongs of everything linked with changelings. "My wonderful Chrysalis must have ultimate power that is capable in her unicorn DNA. She must learn how to use Dark Magic! Mostly though, 'cause of course that is the most powerful magic in my opinion. But you wouldn't disagree with the queen anyway would you Fangs?"She turned to look at her prized advisor. "Hah! Of course not my queen! Even I know that the demonic magic is the best for our kind! And if I did disagree...Well, we all know what would happen!" Fangs replied triumphantly. "Of course you wouldn't disagree! But I need advice." Thorax turned back around to look at Chrysalis playing with one of the foals of a visiting ally."My changeling has the best opportunity  to learn about dark magic then I had when I was but a little filly! I need to know where I could send her to learn more of the evil art." Fangs took a moment to think about it."Hmm...oh, I know! You could send her to Diablo's Lair Prep! They know everything there is to know about dark magic, and more!" Thorax smiled evilly. "That sounds perfect Fangs now this is why you are my chief advisor! Now go and fetch my princess and tell her that she needs to come to my room immediately!" "Yes, my queen!" And he left with a salute.

Chrysalis enjoyed her time with her best friend Demosa, the daughter of an ally of her mother's, they were both playing with her changeling dolls when Fangs came to tell her to see her mother in her room. She waved goodbye to Demosa and flew off to see what Thorax might want with her. After a few twists and turns, she finally arrived to the front of her mother's room, she knocked on her mom's door."Yes?" "Hey mom it's me!" "Oh! Come in Chrysalis!" Chrysalis pushed open the door and closed it behind her. "Yes mom?" Thorax trotted over to her, levitating her computer over to her."Look Chrysalis sweetie, I want you to expand your power in unicorn magic so you can start a new natural ability in the royal bloodline. So I am going to enrol you in Diablo's Lair Prep to learn more about dark magic and more!" Thorax said to Chrysalis excitedly, but she just frowned."But mommy, I know I wuv dawk mawic but I wanna stay with you. Don't you know alot about it to?" Thorax scrunched up her muzzle at her less enthusiastic feeling towards this wonderful opportunity." I'm sorry sweetie but I don't know as much as the professors do at D.L.P. and look at it this way! You have this great opportunity to make lots of new friends!" She brightened up at this idea to make brand new friends."Okay I guess I'll go. But! I have to get to sleep in here tonight!" Thorax laughed and brought Chrysalis into a hug."I'll miss you while your gone, my precious." Thorax whispered these words into her ear before they both went to sleep.
