//-------------------------------------------------------// You Could Make Me Mean Something -by ColdDespair- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Beginning of it all //-------------------------------------------------------// The Beginning of it all Love With You, It's Still Beautiful Applejack and Dash were close friends, closer than their other friends, they spent so much time together, of course they were both more athletic, so they just had more to talk about together. Applejack knew kickboxing, and Dash was the best track runner in the whole town. Tonight they were planning on going out to dance it up in the new club named “Vinyl's Scratches”. Applejack had dressed up for dancing, short denim jeans, a tanktop, and her favorite punky hairstyle. Rainbowdash, wore her usual hair, and decided to put on a ton of glow bracelets, and wear a neon rainbow jacket. Applejack got into the car with Dash, ready to dance the night away. “Hey Dash, ya ready ta dance like animals?” Applejack said. “As always! I mean we don't have to travel super far to dance now! How awesome is that!?” rainbow dash said, in her excited tone.” Driving down the road, neither of them said anything, just blasted the radio, randomly drumming with the beat. After arriving, Dash and Apple got out, kind of nervous, they walked up to the bouncer. “Ahem, can we get into the dance?” asked Dash. “Yea sure, fee is 15 dollars per person, give me the money and go right in.” the bouncer inquired. “Alrighty, no problem there buckaroo.” Applejack said as she handed the money over. Proceeding inside, they noticed the loud and fast music playing, instantly adrenaline hit them, they were in a trance. For the whole night they danced, Vinyl playing all different types of musics, and it got to a slow song, which was unusual in these kind of clubs. “Alright everybody! Time to get nice and close, come on I wanna see some snuggling! Maybe even a few kisses out there tonight huh!?” Vinyl shouted through her mic. Applejack and Dash blushed, feeling quite awkward standing there, in the middle of all the dancing couples. They searched around, both noticing a female couple dancing together, which made them just turn ripe red, until finally Applejack said “well, ya jus gonna stand there? Let's dance.” Dash replied “whoa now Jack, we can't just da--” cut off by Applejack grabbing her waist, and pulling her close. “Ain't nothin among friends right? Besides we have slept together in slumber parties, ain't nothin wrong with this.” Applejack said, still slightly teetering with words. “Yea, but I mean, we aren't this close in a slumber party, I just feel odd, all these people around us.” Dash retorted. The song ended faster than they expected, both of them tired and sweaty, both yearned to get home. Both of them walked out to the car, Applejack took time to notice the paint job on the new mustang, a cloud, with a lighting bolt, rainbow colored decal was on the sides of the car, and it had lightning streaming off the sides, the whole car was a nice shade of maroon, she was always good with cars, applejack wasn't totally accustomed to them however, living on a farm she mostly saw tractors, when she moved to the big town they lived in, it was strange having so much noise around, still she grew accustomed to it. “Nice car Dash, I thought you said you were gonna get a new car anyhow? Like I dunno, a lambergahuno, or whatever you called it.” RainbowDash giggled and smirked, “It's called a Lamborghini , and I am, saving up for it, I'm sooooo close to getting it too, I can taste it.” “Working at a mechanics shop really get you that much money?” Applejack quizzed. “Well not really, I've just been saving since I was like 15, it's been sooo many years since then, I mean we are both 27 now.” Getting into the car Dash starts the engine up, pulling out and begins to drive down the road.* “It seems like only yesterday we were kids, playing in the fields at the farm, then granny passed away, and Mac decided to sell the ol' place, move me out here, and mac decided to go off and follow his dream, whatever that may be, haven't heard from him in 3 years now.” Applejack explained. “Yea sorry about that, I know it was hard on you, but hey, you're closer to your friends now, I mean that's gotta be some sort of plus, and you have fun right? Rainbow dash whispered. “Yea, you sure are a great gal Rainbow.” Applejack complimented. “Hey you wanna go get something to drink? There is a bar right over there, and don't worry I can drive, I mean I'm a heavyweight, takes a lot to slow me down.” Rainbowdash implied. “Sigh, all this thinking, bout the farm and such, yea, I'd like me a drink.” Applejack replied. Deep down, she knew that grabbing a drink wasn't right, they had just exhausted themselves, and drinking intoxicated is a dumb idea, she won't drink to much she thought, just enough to get rid of these terrible thoughts, that way she can drive them home. Going inside they noticed it was empty, guess the club opening up drove all the business down there for the night. “What can I get for you fine ladies? The bartender said excitedly noticing his two and only customers.” “Whatever makes ya forget” Applejack said. Trying to remember not to drink a ton. The bartender replied with haste, serving up cold beverages, not really sure what it was, since they didn't specify, they drank, and drank, and drank, and halfway through applejack seemed to forget, forget a bit to much, she couldn't remember, there was something important that she was trying to remember, washing down her 5th glass. It didn't pester her anymore, she couldn't think to well for it to pester her anyways. Rainbowdash looked as drunk as ever, showing she was a true lightweight when it came to alcohol. “Hey ya wanna know suntin? I l---I just, god appljuck I jus, I love you so much, an I know, I know, ish hard, but I...Love ya, an no matta what anyone says das tha trut.” Rainbowdash spat, staggering harshly while getting up.” “Hey can I crash at your place Rainbadush? I dun wanna go home, it's lonely there.” Applejack said, slurring her words around. “Course! Lesh go home, come on.” Dash insisted, waving to the door. Both got up, and walked outside, it had gotten dark, it was around 11 p.m. Now, they couldn't even remember if they payed the bar keep, but they must have, so they got in the car. Rainbowdash instantly started to swerve, neither noticed however, they were too wasted to notice anything. “Hey, who's got ta lights so bright?” Applejack said not even making sense in her words. “Dat's jusht the lamp lights, nuffin ta worry about!” Rainbowdash yelled louder than expected. Driving along they only noticed the light get brighter, and brighter. “Dash I dun think that's a lamp po---” cut off by a shattering impact, a car had hit them, rainbow was going faster than what she thought, about 60mph down a small road, swerving into another car head on. The car flipped, and Rainbowdash had just so happened to put on her seat belt, but applejack had not. //-------------------------------------------------------// Losses and Regrets //-------------------------------------------------------// Losses and Regrets The next morning was stiff, painful, and her right ear was ringing loudly as she got up. The headache pounding, but not from a hangover it seemed, from something different. Rainbow looked over to the IV in her arm, startled to find she wasn't in her home. A nurse walked in momentarily, “ohh it's good to see that you've recovered well.” said the nurse. “What happened, and where is Apple-” her sentence cut short by the realization of what happened, the memories pouring into her brain like a tidal wave of exhaustion and agony. “I need to see her, where is she!?” Rainbow retorted. “She's.....she's doing fine Rainbow, don't stress yourself or you might open up a wound again, it's hard enough restraining you when you sleep. I always turn in my sleep when I'm having nightmares. Rainbow thought to herself. “Ahem, well dear when you think you are ready to walk you can find her in A45, you are A40, so it's not far.” The nurse announced. “I'm ready now, I need to see her.” Rainbow dash said almost all to quick. The nurses face turned grim, “Are you sure you are ready to see her?” she said it in a way that wasn't a question, it was more of confirmation. Rainbow dash hesitantly whispered “yes.” With that she staggered out of bed, her brain swirled and the nurse helped her to be stable. Walking down the hall with the nurse was somewhat disturbing even with the day being around 4:00 P.M. And there were other doctors and nurses about. RainbowDash felt a harsh reality seeping into her. We were drinking, we were going to the car....then we crashed...like a bunch of teenage idiots! “Ahem...” The nurse coughed. Snapping Rainbow back into reality, she didn't notice she was standing in front of the door to AppleJacks room. “Well dear if you need me ask for Nurse Valentine.” and with that she walked away at a brisk pace. “I'm sorry dear, I wish it were different.” the nurse whispered to herself. Rainbow dash opened the door, seeing a applejack sitting on her bed, eating a bowl of soup. The eye contact wasn't instant like usual, Applejack slowly looked up, and she quirked a smile, small, but a smile. “How are you feeling champ?” Rainbow said jokingly. “Ahhh, I've been a lot better, I think I'll be kick....I think I'll be doing fine when I'm outta here.” Applejack said in a almost weeping tone. “Well I guess we can get going whenever you feel like you are able to get up.” Rainbow said. “Heh, funny you mention getting up Dashie.” She said somberly. “Wait, what?” Rainbow said quizzically. Almost as if on cue, a doctor strides in with a wheelchair and the nurse from before. Tears started forming rapidly on Dashes eyes. “Now wait dear don't blame yourself on this one, it took me being a idiot okay? I don't want you feeling sorry for me.” Applejack said in a attempt to cease the tears. “I-....you-....you can't walk?” Dash said through heavy beads of water. “It's nothing Dash, hey, it gives me more reason to sit at home and play games and do stuff around the house right?” Applejack said in a grim humor. Rainbow knew for a fact that AppleJack hated staying indoors for long periods of time like her. “Well AppleJack, for the most part you are healthy, except for the obvious, we will be giving you pain medication prescriptions until you are able to properly cope, as for you, you can no longer live alone as you told us, we need you a new place of residence, and if you have nobody to care for you, then we will have to find something suitable.” “I'll do it!” Rainbow dash said. “It's the least I can do, since after all this is my fault.” “Dashie dear it wasn't you I'm tellin ya.” said AppleJack, but rainbow dash was not having any of it. Strolling outside was hard to watch, seeing Applejack just sitting in the chair, The ambulance was going to drop them off at Rainbows house, they were to get her things and move them eventually, rainbow was hoping on support from everyone else on that. The ride in the ambulance was quiet, it felt hard, cold, and it reeked of surgical plastic and just made the situation much more unbearable. Getting home was supposed to be a relief she thought, but it somehow made things feel worse. She pushed Jacks chair up to the door, staring at her house seemed almost foreign now. The milky white house top, the smooth colored brick, and wooden door reminded her of when she and AppleJack helped build barns on the farm. Of course everything was reminding her of AppleJack, feeling agony and pain writhe through her with every pulse of her heart. Opening the door they looked inside to see how it was left a few days ago. RainbowDash was already messy and being asleep for 2 days doesn't really help the overall look of the house. “Tell me if you need anything okay Applejack? I'll be helping you from here on.” RainbowDash said in a quiet tone. “Thanks dear, but I should be okay for the most part, I just might need some help here and there.” Applejack said reassuringly. “I'd like to take a bath if you don't mind, I think some hot water might get my head straight.” Applejack requested. Rainbow felt no right to refuse her anything at this point, so she took Applejack to the bathroom and ran water until it was warm. “Now don't make this more weird than it oughta be, just help me get undressed and lay me in, I can take care of it from there.” Applejack said. Rainbow felt odd stripping the pants off her friend, she didn't feel embarrassed, she felt, wrong, like she was invading her privacy, but she had to do it. After she was in the tub Rainbow walked out, thinking deeply about how she will have to have someone do that everyday, for the rest of her life. The thought sank, sank so far she could feel it in her feet, it troubled her, and most of all it pained her. Knowing she must live this kind of life. The rest of the day went okay, it was mostly just thinking of what they were going to do to accommodate the house to fit her needs. It consisted of Rainbow cleaning the house well, even though AppleJack was just as untidy it felt wrong to make her roll around the house looking at all the garbage thrown about. Night came, and she helped AppleJack into the guest bed, being delicate with her legs, even though AppleJack assured her she couldn't feel anything in them, which honestly didn't help Rainbows mentality. Going to her room and sitting her bed should have felt good, but it felt solid, like laying on a bed of spikes, or in this case a bed of regrets and self-blame. It took hours for her to finally go to sleep, drifting off she found herself in a nightmare, reliving the crash, over and over. She tossed and turned all night until she awoke in cold sweat. As she laid her head down, she heard something faint, she couldn't make it out at first. But she got up, and listened closely to the wall the guest room was about to doors down, but she could clearly hear it now, AppleJack was crying.
