Don’t Come Back Through for a Few Hours
Author's Note
I put this together really quickly for EQD WTG. I had but limited time the past couple of days. Depending on feedback I'll continue the story of Discord's hairy adventure in the human world.
Don’t Come Back Through for a Few Hours
Discord lay in bed appearing genuinely sick from the tatzlworm vapor. How could the living essence of chaos itself be in this condition? This guy can just make things appear and cause it to rain chocolate. Twilight was in a quandary. He is a raving lunatic who had already faked being sick once and trusting him was out of the question. He must be insane.
Then almost as if reading Twilight’s mind Discord chuckled “Sanity is so overrated!” Anypony acquainted with him would know all too well that was the gospel of Discord.
Pinkie Pie couldn’t have agreed more. “I always say the same thing Discord!” she chirped.
“Oh Pinkie, can you get me some more of those wondrous cinnamon sprinkled pancakes?” Discord slyly requested.
“Okie Dokie Lokie!” Pinkie answered.
“And some chocolate coated truffles, a zap apple and a silk handkerchief with my initials embroidered on it.” Discord continued. Pinkie’s smiled and became noticeably nutty due to the elaborate request.
Twilight was not pleased with Discord. Having already had the run-around with him during Cadence’s visit she had determined that the “reformed” lord of chaos was still a problem. Discord was clearly taking advantage of Ponyville’s generosity and it was getting ridiculous. She had an idea in mind that would probably have to be cleared with Princess Celestia. She quietly took Spike off to another room and began to the process of dictating a letter.
“Spike, we can only imagine what will happen if Discord turns fully evil again. I think I know of a way to truly reform him. Send him somewhere magic mostly doesn’t exist. Discord being unable to pull his tricks will have to think about his pranks.” Twilight said in a scheming tone. Spike immediately knew what she was talking about. That somewhere happened to be where he was a dog.
“Whoa Twilight. I was a dog; you were one of those walk-on-two-feet creatures. I wonder how Discord would fit in there.” Spike replied. “And what would Princess Celestia think of this?” he continued.
Twilight spoke assuredly “I think she may see it my way. I’m actually the foremost living expert of the nature of that world and she thought to take the chance to let ME go there the first time without knowing what would be the end result. I’m in a position to recommend the other world as being a place of healing and true rehabilitation for Discord.”
The letter was sent to Celestia and Spike quickly belched up the reply letter. Twilight began reading it herself and smiled. “Twilight, based on what you told me about the other world I agree that Discord will probably have a chance at recovery there due to having no access to his magical mischief. Maybe he can go to school. My counterpart Principal Celestia would probably make a great mentor for him.”
Arrangements were made to get Discord to the portal, which thankfully would be active again in a day. It was moved to a less sensitive location because they wouldn’t want Discord just anywhere around Canterlot grounds. When the time arrived the still supposedly sick Discord was brought to the forefront of the gateway between worlds. “Ah, will this be like a spa treatment my friends? I so look forward to whatever wonderful therapeutic experience you have in store for me. So thoughtful.” Discord snickered.
“Yes, just go through this magical therapeutic arch to feel better heh heh. Don’t come back through for a few hours. Just look for Princip… I mean Princess Celestia there.” Twilight said.
Through the portal went the chaotic dragonequis. “I suppose this will be magnificent!” he said in a jolly way. Little did he know what was in store for him.
The space odyssey light show commenced. Discord began zipping through the bright colors as his very appearance became distorted. “Coooool!” he shouted with a surreal echo.
Then the thrill ride came to a halt and all went blank. The master of chaos was on the ground somewhere unfamiliar virtually passed out. Soon he opened his eyes. “Well that was quite the journey. Hey I think I feel a bit better. Perhaps that ‘Princess’ Twilight Sparkle was right. Perhaps.” He remarked. “But just where am I. And WHAT am I?” he added.
Discord was now of an unusual furry form with a tail. He attempted to use magic to materialize a mirror to see himself but it didn’t work. He looked at the unusual type of fur that covered his arms. “Noooo, I’m sicker now! Those malicious ponies! And I thought we were… friends.” The resulting disorientation caused him to begin running away from the portal which could have returned him to his chaotic dragonequis self in Equestria. He didn’t and probably couldn’t yet realize what a mistake that was.
Discord was (then unbeknownst to him) a multi-colored monkey. Twilight and Celestia misunderstood what would become of a dragonequis and had assumed Discord would appear as a human like Twilight and Sunset did.
He charged into Canterlot High yelling and wailing about being the lord of chaos and that no nonsense would be tolerated except his own. Just then a bell rang and students emerged into the halls. Upon sight of each other, the students and Discord simultaneously shouted something like “What is this madness?” The sight of a talking monkey caused a few students to scream in confusion. “Someone get Principal Celestia… no, call animal control quick!” one shouted. “Give him a banana!” remarked another one. Several students took pictures of monkey man with their phone cameras.
What could be more ironic than the chaos that the now magic-less lord of chaos was causing at Canterlot High? Furthermore he wasn’t even familiar with the creatures in his midst in spite of knowledge of all things Equestrian. It then occurred to him that someone had just mentioned Principal Celestia. “So can one of you direct me to Celestia then?” Discord asked amid the noisy insanity. In the crowd was a familiar face. Fluttershy! Of course the human version of her, that is. She approached Discord with ironically less fear than the other students.
“Hello fuzzy guy.” She said.
“Where is Celestia?” monkey man Discord inquired.
“Oh, you talk too!” the surprised Fluttershy finally noticed. “Just like that little doggy Twilight brought from another world through the portal.”
It suddenly made a mountain of sense to the confused Discord. “Well, never mind Celestia. Can you just help me get through this crowd back to the portal?” Fluttershy couldn’t say no to an “innocent” animal.
When the two navigated their way to the portal between worlds, it was no longer open. “What in the world?” Discord lamented. “This wasn’t part of my recovery process. TWILIIIIIIIIIIGHT!”
