Fluttershy's Family Reunionby Stardancer331ChaptersFluttershy's WorryStiloMisty FlyFamily HistoryFluttershy's WorryShe was coming. This was it. After all the other times of narrowly avoiding it, now was the time. She had to come clean. She had to stand up and face it. It had been months- no- years, since she had seen her. It felt like centuries, and that's just how she liked it. She wanted it to be that long. She wished it could be that long. But you can only hide for so long. The worst part was that it was not her, he was coming too. That just made her an even bigger nervous wreck. She couldn't have just gone the rest of her life without ever seeing them again. She prayed at times that they would just forget about her, but no one can. It would be too hard for anypony. How does one just go about forgetting their own siblings? Especially if they were triplets. She knew what ponies said about twins and triplets. They're rare, and because of the rarity, they never forget about each other. They are all that each other has. They have a bond that nopony can ever break or come between. Fluttershy only laughed at that. She knew better. She knew way better. There was never anything between her and her siblings. Nothing but the fact that they shared the same parents and birthday. That was that. Nothing more. Fluttershy flew frantically around her whole cottage. It was very rare that the pastel Pegasus ever did. Usually she just paced, but no- this was a flying worthy worry. She was so worried she even asked Discord to kindly leave her alone for the weekend. No matter how bad he took it, she did not care. Not at the immediate moment, at least. She said the same to her friends, who took it better than she had thought. Her animals seemed concerned for her, but she tried to reassure them. They didn't buy it, though. They knew her too well. It was very rare that anypony ever saw her so nervous. The only other time that they do is on Nightmare Night, where she would shut herself into her home and scream at any visitors that she received. Nopony ever asked why if she was as nervous, anyway. They all assumed it was for good reason, though she has the reputation of being scared of the tiniest things. But nopony ever questioned her. She was too fragile when in that state. It always went like this. Fluttershy would have to put on her best to impress her siblings every time she was the one roped into hosting their “reunions.” No matter how hard she tried, however, it never pleased them. Her sister called her life too “boring.” Her brother tried to be more polite, often times calling it “simplistic” or “quaint.” Both were very successful(and rich, to say the least) in their short lives, while they viewed her simple happy life to be unsuccessful. No matter what she accomplished, Fluttershy felt as though it was never enough for her brother and sister, as they always found some way to one-up her in pride. Both had huge egos, and loved to flaunt them as much as possible around their shy younger sister. There were even times, that Fluttershy even knew of, where they would only admit to having a twin. Not two. Not to being a triplet. Fluttershy herself, though, could be guilty of this. She did not tell her friends that she herself had siblings until a little after the whole Changeling fiasco. She shook like a leaf. As her siblings seemed to be showing up late,(as they often do to... well... everything) Fluttershy decided to just dust her cottage one last time. The first pony to usually show up was her brother, and he was the most critical with how the location of reunions looked. Her brother was a very successful and acclaimed architect back in her hometown of Cloudsdale. He even apparently had done some work on Rainbow Dash's home, as he was one of the only home constructors that implemented personal rainbows into cloud homes. He had an eye for detail and was very precise with just about everything that he did. Many times he had offered to give Fluttershy's humble cottage “a little spruce up,” but she had declined each offer. Each time she did, he would often say something along the lines of “I don't work with earth materials, anyway. Now, what you need, is a cloud home!” As if she was only but a client to him, not a sister. He never treated their sister that way. Never, because she shared the same fame and wealth as he did. Ever since the days that they achieved such they stopped treating her as family. Though they barely ever did in the first place, their rise to fame made it final. They never viewed her as a sister, and in Fluttershy's mind, probably never will. She was always just the there. Always just the third one. To everypony. Fluttershy's sister was usually around double their brother in lateness. She always had an excuse as well, unlike him. “Well, you know, practice and all takes a while... We just finished a show, like, an hour ago! You can't expect flying from Cloudsdale to here to take, like, three seconds you know!... I was just discussing some routines with the rest of the team. The meeting took a little longer than expected...” Were among her sisters favorite excuses. Being the forgiving and kind spirit she was, Fluttershy couldn't help but just sigh and forgive her siblings for being late. Only once had Fluttershy raised her voice to her siblings. They learned their lessons then. For that one day, Fluttershy was finally treated as an equal. But that day is long gone, and a new one is afoot. A new day where her siblings throw out any memories of ever showing genuine love and care towards the poor Pegasus and only showed her pity. A day where she was always the lower, just because of how she chose to live her life. As if right on cue, there was a knock at her door. Author's Note first story! i really hope you all like it! if you want more, please tell me and i will submit the second chapter! for any mistakes: i am very sorry about that and i am working on fixing them as soon as possible. please enjoy! :) StiloAs if right on cue, there was a knock at her door. The Pegasus slipped out a quick eep! and landed, then ran for her door. She put her hoof on the doorknob and took a quick breath before opening it. Standing right in front of her was a very tall, slim stallion. He resembled the shaking little mare in front of him quite a bit, as well. Almost as if the two were mirror images of each other. As if, Fluttershy was looking at her male counterpart. The stallion standing in front of her shared the same pastel yellow coat that she had. His mane was even the same pastel pink. His tale was shorter than his female counterparts, and a lot poofier. His mane only went down his neck a little bit, and was styled in a way where parts of it went around his ears. His eyes were the same color but the shape was not as similar as hers. From afar, a stranger might think that there was another Fluttershy, just like what happened when Pinkie Pie had found the magic mirror pond. Up close, it would have seemed that one of Twilight Sparkle’s spells went wrong. There was almost nothing setting the two ponies apart, aside from the facts that the stallion was taller, a male and had a different cutie mark. His cutie mark resembled somewhat of a column, commonly seen in Cloudsdale architecture. His seemed to be made out of clouds, based on the fluffy and puffy texture the cutie mark had upon inspection. He opened his mouth, and Fluttershy braced for the worst. She ducked her head and looked up at the stallion, putting on a fake smile. “Fluttershy!” He said in a charmed manor. He picked up the mares head and gave her a warm hug, something that Fluttershy had never gotten from her brother. She stood speechless. This was very new to her. “It Is great to see you, sis! It feels like it has been years since we last spoke. How have you been?” He smiled and let himself into her cottage. The pastel stallion trotted around, inspecting every little bit of the home. Fluttershy just watched in utter confusion. But, she managed to get a whole sentence out, “I- um... It's great to see you too, Stilo.” He turned to her and smiled, then went back to his examining. Fluttershy walked over to her couch and took a seat, watching as her brother walked throughout the first floor of her home. He did this whenever he visited, though his visits were not often. But when he did visit her, his first task was to find every flaw and change that she had made to her home- exterior and interior. As much as Stilo worked on exteriors in his profession, he worked just as much on interiors. He once boasted doing the interior decorating for the home of the mayor of Cloudsdale. As he looked through the house Stilo seemed to mumble little comments to himself. Whether they were notes about the home or remarks he wanted to make, they were inaudible to the mare on the couch. Fluttershy decided to break the awkward silence. “So, um.. Did you happen to run into Misty while on your way here?” “Sadly, I did not have the fortune to. Oh, you know her! She's been a busy little bee ever since she was accepted into the Wonderbolts all those years ago! She'll be late as usual, I just know it.” “Oh, I know. I was just.. um... wondering. Sometimes.. you know, that happens..” “Don't fret so much over nothing, little sister! She'll be here.” “You're only 3 minutes older than me...” “Still older, though! Oh, Fluttershy! Come here for a moment, I want to ask you about a rather curious discovery I have made!” Fluttershy sighed and slowly lifted herself from the green cushion. She walked over to her brother and looked up into the same direction as he was. The two were looking into a skylight of sorts. It looked as if it was pointing in a certain direction as well; it looked as if the skylight was in the perfect line of view to see a certain somepony’s cloud house. Fluttershy only blinked as her brother looked down at the carbon copy of himself. He had this goofy smile upon his face, something that the mare had seen one too many times. He had it on whenever he felt proud of himself- as if he had made some life changing deduction. “What is this?” He asked, still delighted with himself. Fluttershy could only stare at him. “It's a window. I... um, I don't know any other way to explain it..” Stilo backed up and trotted in a small circle around his sister. “I want to know what it's doing there, I mean! Of course it is a window- I wasn't born yesterday, dear sister!” “Could have fooled me...” “What was that?” “Oh! Um.. N-nothing Stilo!” “Riiiight. Well, please enlighten me as to the origins of this skylight!” “It's nothing special, really. It's just a window.” “Is that not where Rainbow Dash lives? I remember doing work on a house similar to that, with a feisty mare. Who the most curious rainbow colored mane and tail, I must say!” “Yes, it is her home.” “Why is it pointing towards her place? Is there anything you would like to tell me?” “There's nothing to tell!” Fluttershy began to grow red, but Stilo continued on. “Yes there is! Fluttershy, please. I can tell when you're lying! You always have been quite bad at keeping secrets and lies, sister.” “I'm serious! There is nothing-” There was another knock at the door. It was her. The siblings turned their heads towards the door simultaneously. Stilos eyes and smile only became bigger, just as Fluttershys frown did. Stilo nudged her, most likely to signal to open the door. They looked at each other, the mares expression only getting more and more depressed. Stilo nudged his head towards the door, and bumped her again. Fluttershy’s eyebrows slanted slightly, to signal she got the message. Looking back at the door, the Pegasus sighed and slowly walked towards it, which gave out another knock. Stilo raised his hoof and opened his wings, which were much bigger than Fluttershy’s own. Once she reached the door, the pastel pony looked back at her brother, who only nodded furiously. Fluttershy looked down and sighed. She put her hoof to the doorknob just as she did earlier and opened up the door, bracing for the impact that was her sister, Misty Fly. Author's Note second chapter! i would like to thank a close friend of mine for helping me edit it. i really hope you all enjoy! :) Misty FlyAt first look, one might wonder how Misty Fly, Fluttershy and Stilo are related at all. Misty Fly was only slightly darker than her two siblings in coat color. It was not very noticeable, but if looked at very closely, a pony would be able to tell. All three shared the same eye color, but Misty Fly did not share her sisters eye shape. At the moment, though, that was hard to see. Misty Fly was wearing glasses that looked just like ones the Wonderbolts would wear. She was the same height as her sister, but drastically thinner and more muscular. Her mane and tail colors were drastically different from her siblings as well. While her siblings shared a soft, pastel pink for their mane and tails, Misty Fly had colors similar to that of the sky. Her mane and tail were two different shades of blue. The more dominant blue was much more vibrant than the softer pastel that highlighted it. This was the product of lots of time and a large amount of mane dye. They were also styled in a more fiery fashion compared to Fluttershy and Stilo. While the seemingly identical siblings shared the same flowing style for their mane and tails, Misty Fly had hers in a style that resembled that of a Wonderbolt. Her cutie mark was a single puffy white cloud with a single wing in the middle. The wing was she same shade as her coat. “Geeze! What was with the hold up?! I've been just standing here for like, a solid five minutes!” The Pegasus snorted and helded her head up as she walked into the cottage. “Stilo!” She said in the happiest of tones, and gave her brother a warm embrace. “It’s been forever!” The two said in unison before chuckling amongst themselves. Misty Fly quickly copied her brothers smile and began to talk to him, acting as if Fluttershy wasn't even there. They talked about useless things; they discussed topics that didn't interest Fluttershy too much. She could care less about how great Misty Fly did in her last big show in Canterlot, or how much praise Stilo's last big project received. She just wanted this weekend to be over with, so she can go back to her peaceful life taking care of the animals. Small talk between Stilo and Misty Fly went on for a good amount of time. It went on for enough time for Fluttershy to take her place on the couch again. The mare set her head on her hooves and closed her eyes, hoping that her siblings would just forget about her presence and that they would just leave already. Sadly, ponies can only wish, and wishes never come true. At least, not for Fluttershy. “Hey! Flutters! Wake up!” Misty Fly commanded the attention of her sister. Fluttershy opened her eyes but kept her head where it was. She felt comfortable, and did not want to change that. Plus, it was convenient for her, as she would easily be able to drift back into nothingness once Misty Fly was done with her. “Yes, Misty Fly?” Fluttershy sounded very tired. She was exhausted from all the cleaning and had already gone over her social limit for the day within the short hour her brother was there. “Sorry I'm so late. Spit Fire called a meeting for the top five flyers, which includes me. The meeting went a little longer than she planned. Once it was over I rushed here.” “Oh, it’s perfectly fine Misty. I would hate to be the cause of you leaving you meeting early.” Misty Fly smiled a dumb smile. “I’m glad you understand and see it my way. If I had left early from that, I could have lost my place!” She wiped her brow and began to tour the cottage, with Stilo acting as her tour guide. They both mumbled to themselves, most likely sharing gossip and commenting on Fluttershys humble abode. Fluttershy herself decided to try and slip past the two, to go into her backyard to check the animals. A coping method that she had made for this weekend was that when she became too nervous, she would check on the animals. There, they could make the mare feel better. Fluttershy tried to promise herself to only resort to this when it was an emergency, but she knew herself too well. She was never very good at keeping promises, unless it was very important. Fluttershy was able to let her siblings ahead of her not be able to notice her slip into a door under her stairwell. From that door, she entered the small closet she had. This was where she kept most of the food and toys that the animals who lived inside the house needed. Carrots for Angel, cheese for the mice, seeds for the birds, ect. From that closet, there was another door that led into her backyard, where she kept the majority of her animals. This door was unknown to everypony but herself, and the animals of course. Fluttershy used this door as her escape, for only a couple of minutes, at least. As soon as she stepped outside, the pastel mare was met with a mix of happy and concerned animals. Many of her bigger animals, such as her bear, large birds and seal were concerned for her. She tried to her best to convince them that she was okay. That she was fine, and did not mind her brother and sisters presence yet. The smaller animals, such as her many rabbits, chickens, smaller birds, cats, mice and smaller aquatic life were very happy to see that she was doing okay. Angel seemed to be the most worried for Fluttershy out of all the animals. He clung to her leg in hopes that it would make Fluttershy feel better, which made Fluttershy tear up with happiness. Fluttershy spent a good amount of time out in her backyard, tending to the animals and bonding with them in her time of need. Though, it felt as if it was not very long until her siblings started to call for her. Reluctantly, Fluttershy walked back to her secret door and entered the closet again, then exiting the closet and back into her home. It took her siblings a moment to find where she was. They were coming down from her second floor when they spotted the mare on her couch. Head in hooves, eyes closed. Stilo came down ahead of Misty Fly, as it seems he had come to the end of his tour. Misty Fly looked very entertained, like she was taking in all of what her brother had to say. The two left the staircase and made their way in front of Fluttershy, who tried to make it as if she was sleeping. Her brother and sister did not fall for this trick, however. They knew when Fluttershy was faking, or lying, or keeping a secret or not keeping a promise. It was easy for anypony, to be fair. “There you are, Flutters!” Misty Fly started, “Stilo was just showing me around. This place is pretty small, you know. Did it get smaller? I feel like it did!” Misty Fly often rambled or went on, even if she was being rude and obviously had to stop. But no one ever stopped her. “This place could probably fit into mine, like, 3 times. Sure its kinda roomy, but, seriously! How can you even stand to live here?” Fluttershy tried to keep her composure. She rarely ever got annoyed, but it seemed that her siblings just wanted to test her patience, especially Misty Fly. It was like the mare just wanted to push Fluttershy's buttons- like she got real enjoyment out of annoying her sister. She took a deep breath before answering her sisters question. Stilo just watched the two. Fluttershy could have sworn he had the same stupid smile that he did almost an hour ago- when he discovered the skylight. “Well, it is perfectly big enough for the animals and I. Really, only some of the small animals live in here. Most the the animals stay outside in their habitats and hutches. The cottage has everything I need to live, really… It has a kitchen, a bedroom, living area… Small places for the animals… I don't really need anything else. I even have a perfect view of my backyard and animals from my room.” Fluttershy tried to explain, but Misty Fly just stared at her as if she missed every single word Fluttershy had said. Fluttershy could only look down once she realised that her sister wasn't too interested in her explanation. Misty Fly shrugged and finished, “I'm just saying, I wouldn't be able to live in such a small place. Not to even mention that it’s on the ground! Not up in the clouds!” Fluttershy grumbled. Why did her siblings care so much, anyway? Why did it matter so much to them where Fluttershy lived or what her job was? Was it because she didn't have as much wealth as them? Was it because she was not the most famous pony around? The mare was very well known in Ponyville, as she had to establish herself as a young age as the towns new animal caretaker. She was obviously very well known within the capital city of Canterlot, and even in the Crystal Empire. But was that enough for her brother and sister? She guessed not, due to the fact that they were both well established within the city of Cloudsdale. Anywhere that wasn't up in the sky did not mean too much to them. Though, Fluttershy did have a chance of giving her sister a run for her money, as her sister was well known in Canterlot as well. All Wonderbolts where. It was a given with the job. “Hey! I've got just the perfect idea!” Stilo ran up to Fluttershy. “Why don’t you show us around Ponyville?” Fluttershy was taken aback for a moment. Show them around Ponyville? Was he serious? Stilo noticed his sisters reaction, but continued on, “I know we've been here only a small amount of times before. Though, we've never actually seen what’s around here. Won’t you show us? Please?” Stilo begged. Misty Fly looked at her brother then at Fluttershy, grinning and nodding furiously. Fluttershy inhaled and exhaled, and looked down. She nodded slowly. “Fine… I’ll take you around Ponyville, I guess...” This was going to be the worst day of her life. Author's Note another big thanks for my friend for helping me edit and proofread this. i hope you all enjoy the third chapter! Family HistoryAs soon as the three walked outside, Misty Fly took to the sky. It was as if she had to be flying every moment of her life. It sort of reminded Fluttershy of Rainbow Dash, though Rainbow only just prefered flying. Misty Fly was different- it wasn’t just that she prefered flying, it was like she hated the concept of ground itself. Stilo was sort of the same way, though he only hovered for a moment to stretch out his wings. Fluttershy was the oddball as usual. She walked out and felt perfectly fine, not needing to stretch her wings to lift her hooves from the ground. Though she had been flying around her home for most of the day, she felt no need to stretch herself out. Even if she did, she would only subject herself to torment from her sister. Fluttershy had the smallest and weakest wings out of the three; her sister had the strongest wings, while her brother had the biggest wings. It was a given due to her own size. Misty Fly mocked her as foals a lot for this, due to the fact that every other pony in their family could fly, and Fluttershy struggled to even pick herself from the clouds as a filly. She had no need for flying anymore, is how the pastel mare saw it. Yes- she was a drastically better flyer compared to when she was younger, but was still no match for anypony else in her family. Fluttershy never really talked about her life or family before she moved to Ponyville. It was a touchy subject to her. Nopony really knew about her past, as they all assumed that it was nothing special. The one pony she ever told her past to was Twilight Sparkle, only because Fluttershy wanted to find out something specific about her family lineage. She had also told Discord, as she felt that he should know about her family history if they were going to be as close as he wanted. Other than them, Fluttershy struggled to tell anypony else. It was even hard for her to talk to Rainbow Dash about it. Rainbow was very open with her family history, as she seemed to be quite proud of her noble family tree. There was once a time where Fluttershy was proud of her history, but as she grew older, her pride faded. Pride and honor was replaced with sorrow and disgrace. Though her family history itself was nothing to be ashamed of, it was the fact that she was forced to share it with Stilo and Misty Fly. Fluttershy came from a rather well-off family from the center of Cloudsdale, which was known as the richer area. It was an area known for producing some of the best flyers that Equestria has seen, most notable are most of the Wonderbolts. Fluttershy’s family also had a very strong connection with the Wonderbolts. Some of the best Wonderbolts were born into the same family that she was. Her grandfather had actually been a very successful manager of the team at one point in time. Flying and wealth ran in her bloodline, much as it did with Rainbow Dash. This was once a pride that Fluttershy held dear. She believed at one point to continue this history; as a filly, Fluttershy had the notion that it was her destiny to continue on the legacy of her family. But in time, it was proven that her sister held that responsibility. This angered Fluttershy as a very young filly, when she found out how weak her flying really was. She was soon able to come to terms with her fate, however, with the support of her loving parents. Fluttershy’s parents were not exempt from holding a special piece in the family history. Her father was the son of the Wonderbolts manager. He was even on the team himself at one point. His father was the one who had helped to set up many of the training exercises that Wonderbolts did even in modern times. He also helped to establish the Wonderbolts Academy, and the qualifications and training that Academy students went through. Her mother was well known for helping out the wildlife of the clouds. This included mostly birds, as well as the occasional flying squirrel and insect. This was where Fluttershy’s first interest in animals had sparked, though she was never allowed to go close to them, nor was she ever allowed to go down to the ground with her mother to bring them back to their natural habitats. Fluttershy had heard only stories from her mother about the ground. Even when Fluttershy had actually gone down to the ground that day she earned her cutie mark, she had no clue where she was or what she was on. Her parents were very supportive of herself and her siblings. Fluttershy was their favorite, however. Fluttershy was the subject to a large amount of bullying- from both her siblings and neighborhood foals. This bullying was what lead Fluttershy to become such a reclusive, shy mare as she grew older. Her siblings taunted her the most out of anypony else during foalhood. They would regularly mock her because of her weak wings and soft-spoken personality. This was the beginning of years of torment. The mocking that the two did as foals was also what made them who they are; the bullying that Misty Fly and Stilo did to their sister as foals was what gave them such snooty and abusive outlooks toward her. While Misty Fly and Stilo had friends and flying going for them, the most Fluttershy had going for her was her kindness and interest in the ground and its secrets. Fluttershy had very few friends, and so considered her mother and father her best friends for most of her younger years. They tried their best to ward off her brother and sister from making fun of the poor Pegasus, but they would always be able to find ways around their parents punishments. When the day came that Fluttershy earned her cutie mark, her parents had supported her move to Ponyville at the young age one hundred percent. By the time Fluttershy earned her cutie mark, Misty Fly had hers. Stilo was the last one to earn a cutie mark out of the Triplets. Her parents were now retired, living not in Cloudsdale anymore but in a small village below the city of Clouds. Out of the three, Fluttershy was the one who took care and visited her parents the most. Whenever the mare had a day all to herself, she would spend it with her parents. Usually, she would just hang around their cozy cottage that resembled Fluttershy’s quite a bit. She would run small errands or do chores for them, as they were not able to do most themselves anymore. She would keep her parents company and make sure that they were okay on their own. They were quite elderly compared to her friends parents. This did not bother Fluttershy, however. The mare felt that it was her honor and duty to take care of her parents as much as she could. She even felt joy out of helping them out, as it was the kind and noble thing to do in her opinion. Fluttershy’s family history was what had shaped her and her siblings; their history was what caused all the bullying that the mare went through as a filly. Since her lineage was filled with such strong, famous flyers, her sister and brother found her a disgrace to the family at such a young age. There was once a time that Fluttershy could remember where her brother and sister were loving and kind. It was when years of Summer Flight Camp came into the picture that they began to mock her. When her sister was given her cutie mark for flying, she had made fun of Fluttershy for days. “Ha! Look at that! I got flying and you got nothing!” Fluttershy can remember her sister saying. When Fluttershy received her cutie mark, she can remember being shielded from her brother and sisters torment for days. When she had finally moved to Ponyville to set up her life, Fluttershy had rejoiced that she was finally gone. Though the history still remained. Even in marehood she still remembered her fillyhood dreams and the sorrow she had felt then. She still remembered where had come from and sometimes felt shame in being a weak flyer. Family history never leaves; history is only passed on rather than forgotten. Author's Note chapter four! thank you so much everyone for the support with this story. i wanted to put in more of my own headcanon with fluttershy's family. i hope you all enjoy! :) question: what are you own headcanons? i would really love to hear them!
Fluttershy's WorryShe was coming. This was it. After all the other times of narrowly avoiding it, now was the time. She had to come clean. She had to stand up and face it. It had been months- no- years, since she had seen her. It felt like centuries, and that's just how she liked it. She wanted it to be that long. She wished it could be that long. :)
StiloAs if right on cue, there was a knock at her door. :)
Misty FlyAt first look, one might wonder how Misty Fly, Fluttershy and Stilo are related at all.
