Many ancient drawings line the walls, if the situation wasn't so dire you would likely be spending some time looking at them trying to decipher what they meant. as you are walking down the corridor of stone the path splits three ways. You can go forward, left or right. AS you think about which way to go.you notice insignias marking each path. The path straight ahead is marked by swirling lines that appear to once be painted a faint grayish blue. You assume that the symbol stands for air. To the right, the symbol is two wavy lines, with hints of blue paint on them, water is undoubtedly the intended meaning. Then there is the right pathway, it's a teardrop shape with jagged edges, with hint's of red paint. obviously fire. After a short while, light is visible ahead. You can smell fresh air. Albeit not quite as fresh as the pure jungle air, but fresher than the stagnant air of the temple. Soon you come to a place where the tunnel splits, however, not from side to side. This tunnel is vertical, upon looking up it you see it goes to the surface. Looking down shows you nothing but inky blackness. You decide to call down to see if anypony is down there. "Yes, Shorty! Thank Celestia you came." You disliked her nickname, but shrugged it off. With how the acoustics of the temple works, you couldn't tell whether she was a few hooves away of a few hundred down that shaft. You assure her you will get her out of there. Unfortunately you are unsure of how to get to her. You could try another path, or take your chances with the jump of unknown depth. Ready your nerves, and you jump from the platform. The air whisks past your ears. If only for a fraction of a second. It was a short fall. Your hooves hit the stone and you can see Daring Doo suspended by chains and shackles to two metal poles and facing away from you. Something feels off as Daring Doo looks over her shoulder and loses the color from her face. You look down and see a growing pool of red. You look back to see that a spike had been at the bottom of the shaft. The same shaft you jumped down. A taste of iron enters your mouth as the world fades to black. //-------------------------------------------------------// W //-------------------------------------------------------// W You start walking down the corridor with the water emblem. There doesn't appear to be any form of torches on the walls, or any other way to make light. You reach up with your hoof and flick on the headlamp. That momentary lapse in concentration and stability cause you to loose balance when a rock in the corridor gives way beneath you. You fall face first, and looking up you are just in time to see the entrance closing off. With the exit shut the only source of light is your headlamp. The sound of rushing water is now coming from cracks in the walls and ceiling. You got up and are now running down the corridor in hopes of salvation from whatever trap has been sprung. You see a turn in the hallway. After taking the turn all you see is a wall. A short corridor with a wall at the end. A dead end, you now realize that the dead end, is your end. Water is now pouring out of the cracks in the wall. The water that is filling the tomb you have been sealed is rising, and not as slowly as you would like. After mere moments the water has covered your hooves. A few more moments pass and the water is halfway up your legs. You franticly try to find any way to escape, pressing on various rocks on the walls and floor. Now the water is up to your head, you are having to tilt your face up to continue breathing. As the water rises further you now have to tread water to continue breathing. The water is now almost at the ceiling, you will only have a few more breaths before all the breathable air is vacated. Now it is only your nose above water, touching the ceiling. you breath in deeply one last time. Your subconscious only lets you hold your breath for so long. Eventually you lose the battle of holding your breath, and intake water. Unaccustomed to having your lungs filled with fluid you try to cough it up, but only water is there to take it's place. Your senses are now dimming. Followed by nothing. Try Again? A legend is lost. You make it ten hooves before becoming trapped in quicksand, you sink slowly all the vines and branches are just out of reach of your mouth or hoof. You hit the bottom of the quicksand with your legs three quarters of the way into the quicksand. There is no way to get out. Your only hope is the pony you left to die, and the ponies you don't want to find you for the knowledge of far worse fates than quicksand will occur upon discovery by them. You hold the hoof that you manged to keep from getting caught in the quicksand during your attempts at grabbing something against your chest. The first day passes and the thirst is growing stronger. As the night takes over you can hear many predators in the distance, you are afraid of them discovering you, but death is imminent, and you know subconsciously this is true. come the next morning, you have been too afraid to fall asleep, in hopes of rescue all too futile. The heat is sweltering and mid afternoon the lack of water combined with lack of sleep is torture. your mind is no longer functioning properly, all you know is fear pain and dizziness. as the sun begins to set once more a snake gets within your reach, it is brightly colored and you recognize it as having a very lethal poison. Though the exact effects of the poison slip your addled mind. You reach out with your hoof to have it bite you prodding it and getting the exact reaction you wanted. Deadly venom being pumped into your veins. The effect that slipped you mind was, that it was the most painful venom in the world. As it flows through your veins, your vision loses any semblance of sight, your hearing goes to static in the noisy jungle. All you know is pain. your name, your memories, inaccessible due to the pain that has overtaken your body. You have no Idea of anything, who you are, what you are, where you are. The pain prevents you from passing out, however if you where to wake up from it, you would not remember what transpired. But unfortunately that is how your death occurs, pain so intense it strips away the sentience from the victim, so that all that is known upon death is pain.
