The Third Changeling War. The bloodiest, most heartwrenching and most violent event in all of Equestria's long-winded history. The battle lasted from 2513 to 2514. All of Equestria's best and worst were there for everyone, young and old, pony, dragon and griffin alike, to see. Millions had went to war, and millions had died. And yet, it seemed as if only one life was claimed, despite the millions dead. That one life, for me, was Flash Sentry. His final act from beyond the grave - throw himself into the mother hive, guns akimbo and 125,000,000 megatons of nuclear bombs strapped to his back, therefore quite literally blowing him, Queen Chrysalis, and all of the Changelings to pieces - was one of the most honorable in Equestrian Guard records, despite how reckless it sounds.
And he was my best friend.

But alas, things only got worse...
Flash's funeral came about, along with the funerals of the millions of ponies who bravely sacrificed themselves in the War. I spoke nothing throughout it, not even shedding a single tear, for I knew Flash was gone forever.
Or was he?

I snuck out of Castle Canterlot, about two hours after the funeral had ended (and about an hour after I proposed to bring Flash back to life the same way Victor Frankenstein did, and being deemed crazy for such an idea). Earlier today, weather news forecasted a raging thunderstorm at around midnight to 2:00 AM the next day. "Funny, I thought weather-pony quitting time was 10:00," I said to myself. I went to the Canterlot Memorial Gardens, where Flash was buried. Looking around to see if anypony was in the vicinity, I quietly dug up his remains (he wasn't cremated), but not before reading his epitaph:
FLASH SENTRY: BLANDEST LOVE INTEREST EVER, 2485-2514
"Ha. Ha," I sarcastically quipped, proceeding to dig up his coffin, containing his corpse. Seeing that the storm was coming my way, I slowly crept toward the castle, the coffin inside a special backpack I made just for the occasion, so as to make as little noise as possible. When I went back into the castle, I went to my secret laboratory immediately, hoping not to wake up a certain sun-goddess/mother of mine. I slowly opened the door to the lab, containing everything necessary to revive Flash: an operating table, a pair of bolts, a few spools of thread and staplers, three giant lightning rods on top of the castle, tons of wiring, computers, a notebook, and medical equipment and a few fire extinguishers if the situation demanded it. I opened the coffin, gasping in horror at the contents: Flash's body was all intact, organs and all, albeit in pieces. I was flabbergasted, and thought to myself, " How could a stallion survive a 125-million-megaton nuclear explosion and still have all his body parts intact?!" I sighed, and got to work on stitching up his remains.
12:00 AM, FEB. 3, 2514
"The time has come. If I succeed in bringing life back to the one friend I held in the highest regard, I might also--one day--bring those who were claimed by death back into existence. The time: 12:00 AM, February 3rd, 2514," I thought to myself as I carried Flash's body, all stitched up in the correct order, organs and all, onto the operating table inside my laboratory. I had inserted bolts into his neck to allow for a more fluid electric flow into his body. As I readied the equipment, I noticed the storm was overhead already. I put on my protective goggles as the storm had finally hit, and raised the operating table Flash's body was on. Thunder and lightning were dancing around like Sunset Shimmer and I at the New Year's Eve party, until, finally, a lightning bolt hit right where I wanted it: the giant lightning rods I put on top of Castle Canterlot. I counted the strikes in precise rhythm, until I finally decided that was enough to bring him back. I lowered the operating table, and checked for any signs of life. I began taking notes. "Pulse is weak yet steady. Eyes are still closed. Heart is weak. No movements or breathing yet. He may die again within the hour," I muttered to myself as I jotted down the readings.
I closed my notebook, sighing, until I noticed: Flash was beginning to breathe. He slowly lifted his hoof. He was finally opening his eyes. In pure excitement and as a tribute to my favorite novel, I yelled to the heavens as thunder cracked through the sky:
"HE'S ALIVE! ALIVE! IN THE NAME OF FAUST, NOW I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE FAUST!"
I finally knew what it felt like creating life.
