Chapters When Discord Ends His Reign
"Come on Twister!"
Time Twister's ears perked. She turned her head to see a scruffy brown pegasus yelling her name. He brushed the soft, ruffled red tuft he called a mane down onto head once more. His small wings flittered in the breeze before folding back onto his back.
"Oh, sorry, be right there!" Twister grimaced. She hated going out at recess, she knew she was different. She was 4 years younger than the others. Her advanced IQ had her placed ahead of her class, and even now she knew most of the material. No teacher or doctor ever knew why her IQ was so high. It just was. She glanced down at her bare flank and sighed. She was sure her book smarts would be her talent, but no matter how hard she tried, the small area remained blank.
Time Twister perked back to life, "Twister! Come on! I can't play by myself!" Sky waved his small hoof to motion her over.
"Oh! Sorry, be right there!" She spied over the sea of giggling foals to see her destination. This time... I can do it this time... She flapped her small wings in the wind, imagining the way the air would feel on her back. This time, I WILL fly! She jetted forward, her wings fluttering in the wind. Her red and gray striped mane flew back, as her ice blue eyes stung in the cold wind. She leapt to the air, barely scrapping the ground below with her yellow hoof. I'm, I'm doing it! I'm flying! Twister opened her eyes, to see the ground quickly approaching. Oh, no... Not again... She pulled her head up and forward, desperately trying to pull up or soften the landing. She preformed a full air flip as her extended right wing slammed against the grassy field.
"Twister! Are you okay?" Sky landed in front of her, starring her strait in the face. He held out his hoof to lift her up. As she stumbled to her hooves, Sky High saw the severity of her crash. "Twister, I think you need to see the nurse, I don't think wings are supposed to look like that..." Twister looked down at her wing. It was indeed mangled and out of place, the yellow feathers were bent and ruffled, packed with dirt. She tried to move her wing, but only a grimace escaped her face. He looked closer into her pale blue eyes, reduced to pin-pricks due to shock. "Twister, your eyes." Twister looked up from her mangled wing to see two of her best friend.
"Oh, sorry..." She focused on him, and her eyes aligned once again.
"Are, are you okay? I don't think that's normal..." Sky looked at her again, a look of concern covered his face.
"Yah, it's-it's fine. It's genetic is all. Happens when I don't focus..." Twister rubbed her forehead, a sharp pain ran through her body. "Or when I hit my head, I guess..." She brushed down her mane, tangled and dirty from the crash. "Come on, let's go play, I'll be fine."
"No, Twister, you're not okay. We need to go, please. I know you hate to admit you failed to fly again, but you need some help. And I bet, one day, you'll be the best flier ever, and you'll look back on this and laugh. Come on, let's go." Sky grabbed her hoof and helped her down the path toward the office.
As they slowly walked down the path, a purple flash jetted to their front. As the flash disappeared, a purple unicorn stepped forward and chuckled.
"Oh, the blank flank nerd pegasus who can't fly. I don't even know why you try. There's just too many things to say about you!" Twister's eyes filled with tears as she hobbled behind Sky.
"Just stop Star! It's not funny! She's had enough for today!" Sky's wings flared to shield the heavily crying Time Twister from the purple and pink unicorn filly.
"What are you? Her coltfriend or something?" Twister shrunk down closer to the pavement, blushing heavily, her mangled wing touching the hard ground. A small yelp escaped her mouth. "Oh, I see. The little nerd failed to fly. Again." She chuckled once more as Twister's eyes filled with tears again.
"You know what Star? Forget it, I'm done with this. Come on Twister, let's go." Sky folded his wings back down, and turned to Time Twister, who was at the moment very interested in some gold powder floating in the wind. "What is that?" Sky stared and the small gold ribbon twisting and folding around Twister in the wind. It spun once more before deciding to circle her mangled wing.
"I have no clue. It just showed up out of nowhere." Twister said as she continued to follow the ribbon with her pale blue eyes. The powder seemed to grow in size as it engulfed Time Twister's wing. The powder dissipated into the wind as it released her yellow wing. Once it was visible again it was fully clear what had happened. Her wing was fully healed, the dirt and grass that had been stuck between the ruffled feathers were no where to be seen, and her wing was fully groomed, perfect in every aspect.
"Wh-what?" Star stuttered as she stared at the yellow filly.
"Twister! Your flank!" When Time Twister looked down at her flank, a large hourglass with a small gold ribbon adorned the once bare space.
"My cutie mark!" Her eyes widened and her wings fluttered and she jumped around and tackled Sky. "Yah! Best. Day. EVER!"
"Guess we don't need the nurse now, right?" Sky High smiled at his best friend.
"Yep! Let's go play!" Twister jumped off of her friend and hopped toward the large wall ball court.
"Yah! I'll let you serve today!" Sky flapped his wings and jetted toward Twister, leaving a very flustered purple unicorn alone.
"What. Just. Happened?" The flustered unicorn sat down briefly before walking back to her friends, leaving what she just witnessed to drift away in her memory.
When Discord Ends His Reign
Twister skipped into the classroom with Sky High by her side.
"Well somepony's very happy today!" Sky chuckled again as he playfully punched Twister shoulder.
"Of course I am! Weren't you happy when you got your cutie mark?" Sky glanced down at the wing with a lightning bolt that adorned his brown flank.
"Yah, of course, but you're taking happy to new extremes." He giggled again. "Here we are." Sky grabbed the door to the Home Ed class. "After you, my lady." Sky winked as she walked through the door.
"Why thank you my good sir!" She giggled as she sat down on the small, metal chairs and pulled out her homework from her scruffy, brown saddle bag.
"No prob. Anything on your best day ever!" They looked at each other and smiled as their teacher trotted up to them.
"Oh, Sky High, Time Twister! Good to see you two again! Did you do your homework?" The teacher smiled as she lifted her record book in her light blue magic.
"Yep! All done Ms. Cake!" Twister pulled up her neat papers with her hoof and smiled as she watched Ms. Cake check off her homework on her record book.
"Great job, Twister! All I would expect from my best student!" Ms. Cake smiled as she walked over to Sky High.
"All done! Here!" Sky held up his crinkled and bent homework.
"Good job Sky! Now, next time please try to take better care of your homework, please?"
"Oh, yah, okay. Sorry." Sky smirked and glanced at Twister, who was chuckling and covering her mouth with her hoof.
"Good! Now Time Twister, I see you are a little bit cheerier today than usual. What's going on?" Time Twister hopped out her seat and jumped to the floor.
"I got my cutie mark today!" She turned slightly and pointed to her flank, still adorned with the large hourglass wrapped with a gold ribbon.
"Oh, great! Congratulations!"
"Yah! It was awesome!" Sky chimed in, "She like was just crying and then this huge ball of gold dust like picked her up and healed her! It was the most amazing thing EVER!" He slammed his hooves on his desk and smiled.
"I think you exaggerated that a little there, Sky." Time Twister elbowed her friend and smirked.
"Yah, maybe a little. But it was still awesome!"
"Well great for you Time Twister! Have a great day you two!" She picked up her record book once more and moved over to the next ponies.
"I wonder what we're going to do today! Ms.Cake said today we get a surprise!" Sky bounced in his chair, almost knocking over their desk. Twister's eyes went wide as she held it from falling. She sighed and stared him straight in the face. "Oh, sorry."
"Now class!" Ms. Cake stepped to the front of the classroom and smiled, "Today I have a treat for you!" The whole class smiled and a few foals, including Sky, stood taller in their seats and slammed their hooves on the wooden tables. "We get to make a full course meal with our partners and pick whichever food you want! You get to eat it too!" Many foals gasped and Twister smiled and turned to Sky.
"This sounds really fun!"
"This sounds really delicious!" Sky responded to her by drooling on the table.
"Now you can use any of the books on the shelfs and anything in the pantry. I will also be testing your food to see if you've been paying attention all semester!" A few foals gulped, but Twister remained unfazed, smiling to Sky who smiled in return. "Okay, my little ponies! You may begin!" Sky ran from his chair and grabbed a large cookbook, bringing back to Twister.
"How about this one?" He said, flipping through the pages to land on a picture of a large hay salad.
"Sure! Then how about this one?" Twister flipped until landing upon a picture of a hay and daisy sandwich.
"Definitely!" He flipped a few more pages, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Heck yeah!" She smiled as he held up the book.
"TRIPLE LAYER APPLE CAKE!" They shouted in unison while high hoofing.
"I'll go get the ingredients!" Sky happily exclaimed.
"I got the tools!" The two friends ran off in two directions, to find the ingredients for their meal.
"Hello Sky! Hello Twister! What did you two make?"
"We made some salad, and sandwiches, and cake!" Sky High smiled in reply.
"Here let me just try it." Ms. Cake tried each one, smiling at the two ecstatic foals. "Great job you two! You were obviously paying attention! A+!" Ms. Cake walked to the next pair as Sky and Twister grabbed plates to eat their food.
"We did awesome!" Sky said as he scarfed down a daisy sandwich.
"I know!" Twister took a small bite of her salad and smiled to Sky.
"Okay everypony! If you've been graded you can go home now! Have a great day!" Ms. Cake trotted to the next pair in line.
"Let's go Twister!" Sky jumped from his chair and snatched his light blue bag.
"Yah, let's go!" Twister grabbed her bag, and together they happily trotted out of the small classroom onto the path home.
When Discord Ends His Reign
Sky High fluttered above his friend, happily humming. Twister stared at the dirt path as her hooves slowly walked forward along it. She looked back at her newly acquired cutie mark. Her face scrunched, something she often did when deep in thought. Her realigned itself to the front, with Sky watching closely.
"You okay Twister? You've been pretty quiet all the way home." Sky raised an eyebrow as Twister looked up to reveal a concentrated look plastered to her normally perky face.
"Yah, I'm fine. It's just..." Twister plopped to the dirt road and held a hoof to her face. Sky turned around abruptly and landed in front of her. "What do you think actually happened today? With my cutie mark I mean..."
"No clue, maybe some sort of awesome power or something?" Sky shrugged and watched as Twister made a circle in the dirt with her hoof. "I don't know, see you tomorrow Twister!" Sky looked back and lifted to the air, landing on a nearby cloud that held his home.
"What happened today?" Twister stared blankly at the ground before lifting back to her hooves and trotting towards her nearby home.
As Twister trotted the small dirt roads, she heard a loud clank. "Hello? Is any pony there?" Another loud clank. "Um, can I help you?" This time a red flash of light burst out of a small alley way nearby. Twister turned and trotted off toward the light. "Are you here?" A loud clank and a single word replied to her.
"DELETE."
"Huh? What's that mean?" Twister stepped out of the alleyway.
"DELETE." A large metal pony stepped out of the alley and followed Twister.
"I don't think that's good..." Time Twister leapt to her hooves and ran as quickly as she could out of the darkness and into the lighted streets. A blue laser sped past her, barely missing her head. Twister screamed. "SOMEPONY! ANYPONY! HELP ME!"
"Hang On!" A male voice came from behind her along with the sound of wings. As she was about to trip, a large gray stallion with a slicked back mane and a black bow-tie lifted her from the ground and flinged her on his back. His large wings flapped to pull them high out of the robot's reach. "Now, what were you doing with that cyber-pony young filly?" He giggled and turned his head to smile at the shocked filly.
"A- a cyber what?" Twister held tightly to his neck, unsurprisingly scared of heights due to her lack of flight.
"It doesn't matter, but what does matter is you. Are you alright?" His smiling face turned quite serious.
"Uh- yeah... I think so." She glanced down at herself and checked for any sign of harm. "Yah, I don't look hurt."
"Well, now that that's taken care of!" He landed on a large cloud that held a small blue box. He trotted slowly toward it, with Twister following him closely. He flung the door open and smiled. "Well, welcome to the TARDIS!"
"It's- it's bigger on the inside?" Twister cocked her head, running through any possible way this could even exist.
"Yep! Now that we're here I have to ask you a few questions! First, what's your name little filly?" He crouched to the floor to meet Twister's gaze.
"Um, Time Twister." She shyly sat down on the floor.
"Okay! Interesting name actually..." He tapped his chin in thought. "Well that's not important, hello Time Twister! I'm The Doctor!
"Um, Doctor who?"
"No, just The Doctor."
"Okay..."
"Now, you seem to be a pegasus, correct?" He pointed to small wings still folded on her back.
"Yah, I am."
"Are you capable of flight?"
Time Twister dropped her head in sorrow. "N-no..."
The Doctor noticed her sadness, "Oh, it's okay. I myself only learned to fly a little while ago! Now, do you have your cutie mark?"
Twister stood slowly and turned to show him her cutie mark. "Yah, I just got it today actually."
"Hmmmm... Now how did you get that?" He stood and rubbed his chin again, his gaze still locked on Twister.
"I healed my wing with magic or something..." Twister's face scrunched again as she thought back.
"Was this magic, gold dust?" He raised an eyebrow at the filly.
"Uh, yah. It was."
"Hmmmm.... Very interesting." He rose and walked to the control panel at the center of the room. Time Twister now saw his cutie mark. A large hourglass, the only difference from hers was the lack of gold ribbon. "Now I doubt that that cyber pony just happened to stumble upon you. He wanted you to find him. But why..." He brushed back his black mane and sighed.
Twister watched on with a puzzled expression, until a wave of pain and exhaustion washed over her as she collapsed to the floor. "Are you okay Time Twister?" He noticed the unconscious filly on the floor and sighed. "I guess I might as well take advantage of the situation..." He walked over and plucked a single hair from her mane, placing it carefully in a small cabinet in the control panel. "Now, what are you?" The machine sputtered and sparked before exploding with a loud boom. "W-What?!" He ran around the explosion, fixing the small pieces of the cabinet as he ran. "How would one of you get on this planet? I guess it would make sense why the cyber-ponies would follow you but how did you get here?"
When Discord Ends His Reign
"Now where do you live?" He trotted down the shining roads of the Crystal Empire. The building glistened in the afternoon sun.
"Over there!" She pointed mid-jump before landing and running to the door.
"Okay. We just need to test your family's genetics to see what you are." She smiled as he knocked on the door.
A purple unicorn with a yellow mane stood in the door way. "Yes, what is... GET OUT!" She snarled at him.
"D-Dinky?!"
"Why are YOU here?"
"I have your, er, daughter?"
"Twister?! Why are you with him?" Dinky grabbed Twister's hoof and pulled her away from The Doctor.
"Mom, he's nice! He saved-"
Dinky looked back to Doctor. "Why are you trying to help again? Haven't you helped enough?"
Doctor cleared his throat. "Well, you see, your daughter is being targeted by a race of dangerous cyberponies plotting to destroy the pony race."
Dinky glared at him. "And you expect me to believe you?" She glared at him while Twister sat quietly to the side.
"I... I..."
"Mom!" Time Twister jumped in the way of the stare-down and snarled at her mother before slipping on the dirt road. The Doctor grabbed her with his hoof and pulled her back up. She shuck her head again before continuing to stare at her mother.
"Time Twister, I don't think you know who he is. Let me take care of it." Dinky stared her young daughter calmly and motioned her to sit back down next to her.
"No mom! He's nice!" The Doctor's shocked expression melted into a smile.
"Twister, you don't know him like I-"
"Mom, he saved my life!" Dinky's calm face turned shocked as she looked up at the gray stallion, his coat now a bright brown. She looked back to Time Twister.
"He, he what?"
"Saved my life!" She looked back to the Doctor.
"I thought you were done with helping." He stopped smiling at the small filly and looked back to Dinky.
"Guess I was wrong." Dinky eyes darted to her daughter then back to The Doctor.
"Come inside, it's getting dark." He followed the purple unicorn into her house. As he looked back down to the filly, she turned and smiled at him. He couldn't help but smile back.
As he walked into the living-room a white and brown spotted unicorn trotted into the room. The unicorn turned to Time Twister.
"Hey kid! How's it going?" He kneeled down to the small filly.
"Great! I got my cutie mark!" She jumped in the air and giggled.
"Awesome!" He smiled at her.
The Doctor watched the two quietly. "Dinky, who's that?"
"Oh, that's her brother, Bismarck. Hey you two! Come over here!" Twister hopped on her brother's back as he mimicked a soldier and marched over to their mother. "Bismarck this is The Doctor. You two can talk while I make some tea." Dinky walked to the kitchen as Time Twister hopped off of her brother's back and jumped to the couch.
"Nice to meet you, sir!" Bismarck stood up taller to meet The Doctor's gaze.
"Nice to meet you too. You're Twister's brother?"
"Half-brother. But pretty much the same thing."
"Half-brother? So, you two have different dads?"
"Yep!" He smiled at The Doctor.
"Is Dinky married?"
"Yeah, to my dad." Time Twister jetted past, chasing after a ball that she had dropped.
"So, how old are you?"
"18." He walked over and grabbed a small book and pencil from a shelf before handing it to his sister. "Here, I don't want you to make mom mad." She nodded and grabbed the book and pencil before sitting on the couch again.
"What book is that?"
"Physics workbook. She finds it fascinating." The Doctor's jaw dropped to the floor.
"How old is she?!"
"8."
"What?!"
"Yeah, that's usually the reaction. I don't know, she's just always been so far ahead of her classmates. Don't tell her, but she got pulled out of school today."
"Why?"
"Her IQ was registered at genius level, and she knows all that the basic school can give her. Either advanced school or no school."
"Well that's quite interesting." He looked back at the filly, who was quietly filling out the workbook. "So, where do you work?"
"Oh, I'm a royal guard positioned in the Empire. I'm on vacation currently though."
Dinky walked back into the room holding a tray of teacups in her magic. "Here you go, Bismarck." She levitated a teacup over to him as he grabbed it in his own magic. "Do you drink tea, Doctor?"
He was surprised by her sudden change of mood. "No thank you. I'm fine."
Time Twister hopped off of the couch, leaving the workbook and pencil on the couch.
"I almost forgot! Mom, I got my cutie mark!"
"That's great sweetie! Show me!" Time Twister turned to show her mom her new cutie mark. Dinky smiled and pulled her filly into a hug. "Great sweetie! I can sew some hourglasses onto your saddlebag if you want!"
"Okay!" Dinky turned back to The Doctor.
"Okay, Doctor. I've thought about it. You have one chance. I will forget everything you've done. Only one chance."
He jumped up and hugged Dinky. "Thank you!"
"Just one chance Doctor. One chance."
When Discord Ends His Reign
"Bye mom! We'll be back soon!" Time Twister waved back at her mother from the wooden cart her brother was pulling.
"Remember to get everything on that list!" Dinky waved back as she smiled.
"Okay!"
Bismarck pulled the empty wooden cart, with only Time Twister sitting in it.
"Nice of you to come with us, sir. Usually it's just me and Twister." Bismarck smiled at The Doctor, who was deep in thought.
"Maybe we can see those things you said are here! Those metal ponies!" Time Twister smiled and jumped onto her brother's back.
"Yah, maybe we can..." He looked around at the busy streets, flooded with waves of different ponies.
"I'm going to go get a candy apple! I'll be right back!" Time Twister jumped from his back and ran to a nearby cart. Bismarck continued to walk quietly around, checking his list frequently.
"Oh, over here." He walked to a small carrot stand and grabbed a few bags, leaving a bag of bits to pay for it. They continued to stop and fill the cart more.
"Where's your sister?"
"Hm, you're right. She's been gone for a while now."
The Doctor searched for a few seconds before finding the small yellow pegasus. She was backing away from a two unicorns, both seemed to be laughing. "She's over there." He pointed with a hoof before Bismarck looked and sighed.
"Those two again. Of course." He rolled his eyes and walked towards them.
"Who are they?"
"Just two bullies. Well, let's go."
Time Twister trotted to the small apple stand happily. She knew the clerk well, he was in her class briefly.
"Hey Applebuck!" She smiled at him. He was only ten, just two years older than her. The small, hoof-made stand was brown in color, and only slightly taller than her.
He tipped his brown cowboy hat. "Howdy Twister! What can ah get yah today?"
"Just a caramel apple please!" She threw two bits on the counter.
He grabbed a caramel apple from the shelf and handed it to her. "Thank yah Twister! See yah later!"
"Bye!" She smiled and took a bite. Afterwards, she looked around carefully for her brother. She didn't see him. "He must be over by the veggie stand." As she walked towards the sharp turn, a hoof abruptly stopped her.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" A blue unicorn giggled as she smirked at Twister, who was knocked down into the dirt.
"Looks like that little wannabe pegasus." Time Twister backed away after brushing the dirt off her coat.
"I d-don't want any trouble you guys..."
"Oh look, she's stuttering!" The other yellow unicorn walked towards Twister.
"Shining Star says that you got your cutie mark."
"Guess we can't call you blank-flank anymore." Time Twister pulled her ears back and continued to back away.
"C-can you just l-leave me alone, please?"
"Oh, look! She's got a little hourglass!"
"What's that for? You good at telling time or something?" They giggled and smirked and her as her eyes welled with tears.
"I-I-I..."
"Oh! I have a good name for you! Dumb mark! Almost better than blank-flank!"
She flapped her wings in a desperate attempt to escape, only to fall back on her face.
"Your trying to fly? I don't think so!"
"You might as well be an earth pony!" Time Twister broke down in tears as she wiped the dirt from her mane.
"That makes sense! Her dad is an earth pony!"
Time Twister wiped some tears from her eyes. "No he's not..." She immediately realized what had said and covered her mouth. "No, I um, I mean, um, he's a..."
"Oh! Then who is your dad?"
"Probably a griffon or something."
"Or maybe even a zebra!" They broke out laughing as Time Twister's sobs grew into waves of tears.
"I bet that's it! Look at her!" They pointed and laughed as a small group started to crowd around them. Time Twister backed herself into a corner, with crescendos of laughter following her. Her sobs grew louder and louder until a large, booming voice rang out.
"That's enough!" A large brown and white unicorn walked through the crowd of foals until he came to Time Twister. He leaned down to whisper to her. "It's okay, don't listen to them... Let's go."
Time Twister hopped to her hooves and followed her older brother through the crowd and hopped into the cart. As the cart slowly went away she could hear the laughter start to rise again, occasionally hearing small phrases like dumb mark or wannabe .
"You okay kiddo?" He stopped the cart in a small alleyway and leaned towards his little sister.
"Y-yeah..." She wiped the remainder of her tears from her eyes.
"What did they call you this time?"
"Dumb mark, wannabe pegasus, earth pony..."
The Doctor watched this with a very confused expression. "Why is earth pony a insult?"
Bismarck stood and turned toward him. "Unicorns like to use that as an insult to pegasi who can't fly. Mostly because they like to think that they're the most advanced species. I grew up with my dad being an earth pony, so I never used that as an insult."
"I, um, accidentally said that my dad wasn't an earth pony... Now they think I'm half zebra..." Her eyes filled with tears again.
"Don't listen to them. They're just jealous of you because you're so smart. Come on, let's go home." The three headed out of the alleyway and into the streets. The Doctor got closer to Bismarck to ensure that Time Twister didn't hear them, though he doubted she would, she was lying in the back of the cart.
"Does this happen often?"
Bismarck sighed. "Unfortunately, yes..."
The Doctor looked back at the little pegasus sleeping in the back of the cart. "What race is her dad?"
"Pegasus. He had a red mane and a white coat."
"Where is he?"
Bismarck looked around and leaned in closer. "He left before she was born. Just laughed at my mom and left."
"Does she know?"
"She knows that that's her dad, she doesn't know what happened."
He looked back at the filly. Somehow he knew that she had been listening the whole time.
When Discord Ends His Reign
"Okay, Doctor! Be careful with her!" Dinky waved at the two as they trotted off back to the TARDIS.
"I will, don't worry!" He waved back as he quickly scanned the surroundings for the cloud that held the blue box. He spotted the large cloud and motioned for Twister to hop on his back. She jumped and held on to his neck while they flew. Once they finally arrived, The Doctor smirked at Twister and sat down.
"Were you listening to our conversation?" He crossed his hooves.
"No..." She glanced down to the side.
"I won't tell if you did." She contemplated this offer for mere moments.
"Promise?" She looked back up to him as he smiled and held out a hoof.
"Promise." They shook hooves before she began to spill it all.
"I always listen in on their grown up conversations."
"You do?" He genuinely was shocked, for he had gotten the impression that this filly was clumsy and probably couldn't pull that off.
"Yep, I hide behind walls, under tables, once I even got in the vents!" She seemed very proud of herself for deceiving her family.
"Okay, let's test that. You hide, I count to 20."
"All I need is 10." She smirked at him and swished her tail.
"All right, hot-shot. Let's see what you've got." He began to count, expecting to hear loud hoof-steps, but only heard silence. After 10 he looked around the room quickly and saw nothing out of place. He got up and began to search.
He had searched for a good 45 minutes and found nothing. Not a speck of dust out of place and no Time Twister to be found.
"Okay! I give up!" He giggled for a few seconds before seeing a small filly run out of a nearby room. "Hey! I already checked there!"
"I moved to the room you last checked every time you entered a new one. Quite simple really." She smirked again and held up a hoof.
"You little trickster!" He laughed at her cleverness. But he had to admit, she was quite the trickster.
"Worked on things like that since I was 4." She sat back down and brushed back her mane, which had been ruffled from the game.
"Really? No offense, but I thought you were, um, kinda..." He tapped his chin.
"Clumsy?"
"Yeah..."
"Just bad eyesight, but I can follow others just fine." She was quite an impressive filly. He walked over to the control panel and pulled out a small key attached to a string.
"Here, we're going after cyberponies and I can't always open the door for you."
She jumped in glee and fluttered her wings, grabbing the small key. She threw the rope around her neck and jumped again.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"No problem. Just don't lose it."
"I won't!"
He grabbed the small bag he had carried to the TARDIS and pulled out some hair samples. After examining each one he had concluded one thing. That all of Time Twister's family were normal ponies.
"That's weird..."
"What?" He contemplated saying nothing, but he knew that she would find out one way or another.
"Your whole family is normal..."
"That is weird." She tilted her head and looked the genetics results, even though she could barely read them.
"Wait!" He slapped himself in the face and ran across the room grabbing the sample of Time Twister's DNA and plucking one of his own hair. "Stupid Doctor, stupid!" He placed a sample of Time Twister's DNA in the machine, this time resulting in many error notes flying from the machine. He pulled out the sample and put both his and Dinky's DNA in the tray. The machine reacted the same as it did with hers. "How could I be so thick!" He was swarming around the room, grabbing paper by paper, comparing results. "I knew it!"
"Knew what?" Time Twister stared at him, her head tilted and confused.
"I only denied it because of the chances but it's my only answer!"
"What is?"
"This is incredible!"
"What's incredible?"
"I can't believe it!"
"Can't believe what?!" She yelled at him and stared.
"Oh, sorry. Well, I think that you might be, um..."
"Be what?"
"Half timelord..."
When Discord Ends His Reign
"What's a timelord?" Time Twister tilted her head at him.
"Oh! I never told you did I?"
"Told me what?"
"I'm not from Earth!" The Doctor smirked, expecting questions or arguing to ensue. To his surprise the filly stood up again and hopped around the room, occasionally bumping into walls or objects.
"That's so cool!" She smiled and giggled before slipping and skidding across the floor, bumping into the control panel. It did not spark, much to The Doctor's surprise. She sat for a few seconds before standing and noticing she opened something. She stood tall on her hooves and looked into the opening.
"Don't do that!" The Doctor ran across the room too late to stop the filly from looking.
"What?"
His jaw dropped. "How did you? What?!" He ran back and closed the opening.
"I didn't do anything."
"Oh, yes you did!"
"What did I do?"
"You looked into The Heart of the TARDIS!"
"So, what?"
"You should be dying right now! Even I'm not supposed to do that!"
"Has that happened before?"
"Yes..." He paused for a moment, and looked kinda sad. Time Twister hated it when ponies were sad.
"But, look! I'm fine!" She smiled and stood up again, rapidly flittering her wings.
He smiled then paused again before looking at her cutiemark. "How did you say you got your cutie mark?"
She thought for a moment, it was kinda blurry in her memory. "I, uh, broke my wing. Then, then gold dust appeared, and, I uh, it healed itself, and then it went away, I think." The Doctor noticed that her eyes were looking in different directions.
"I think your eyes are, a little bit, unaligned." She looked up.
"Oh, sorry." Her eyes realigned themselves on him. "Happens when I focus too much to!"
"Well, anyway, that doesn't really explain much, unless..." He grabbed his screwdriver and the filly and ran out the door.
"Okay, now just stand there..." She was more confused than ever.
"Why are we doing this again?"
"It's just a test! Now stand very still." They had walked two blocks to a alleyway. If he wanted an alleyway she could have shown him one that was closer, but he said that it had to be far away for the test to work. She didn't even know what he was doing.
Stand there, he said. Do nothing, he said. She was starting to get annoyed. His screwdriver made a funny sound and it flashed. "Now this is where you need to stay perfectly still!" He was extremely serious about this.
"Okay!" She stayed as still as possible. A ghostly image started to appear around them before solidifying into a large room. In fact, the room they just left. "Why did we leave, just to have your box come back? Actually, how did your box come back?"
"This is incredi-" He looked over at the filly, who was staring at him. He sighed. "Okay, you have huon particles in your body, thus causing your body to trigger regeneration without actually dying, which causes the larger injuries you have being healed and the huon particles are responsible for the you magnetizing to the TARDIS. You are pretty much constantly in a state of limbo, between dying and regeneration." He smiled sheepishly.
"And could you say that in Equestrian?" He giggled slightly when she said Equestrian, causing his coat to turn lighter. "Hmm..."
"What?" He was actually quite curious.
"Nothing. Go on."
"You have these particles in your body that normally make ponies die. Because of your timelord genetics your body is trying to battle death by regenerating, but you're not dead, so it just heals major injuries like your broken wing for example." She blankly stared at him. "You understand?"
"Yep."
"So, the TARDIS has those particles in it too. These particles like to be together, so they kinda act like magnets. You and the TARDIS can be attracted to each other through these particles. You are always in limbo, kinda."
He smiled again. "So, I shouldn't exist." She tilted her head.
"Not really. But it's just a theory."
"How can I look into the TARDIS then?"
"You're already exposed to the energy?" He smiled sheepishly again.
"Okay!" She smiled again and hopped in the air.
That reversed quickly. he thought.
"Oh, wait!"
"What?"
"You didn't tell me what a timelord is or where you're from!"
He paused for a moment as she sat in front of him. "Well a timelord is a thing from a planet in another dimension. I'm one of them. I'm from a planet called Gallifrey."
"Cool!" She hopped around and stopped again.
"Oh, I have one more question."
"What is it?"
"Why is there a swimming pool in the library?"
When Discord Ends His Reign
Twister slowly stammered to her feet as held her head in her hoof. "Owwww... That really hurt..." She shook her head slightly, noticing her vision fading and blurring. She focused on a large gray blob and her vision realigned to show the Doctor quietly inspecting a small piece of the control panel. He turned and walked to the filly.
"Do you happen to know your breed?" He smiled again at the aching filly.
"No, not really..." She thought back, she never really bothered to ask.
"Okay, that's fine." He walked back to the control panel, rapidly pushing buttons.
Twister watched intently as the stallion read papers, pushed buttons and murmured to himself. As she watched she realized something, he was hiding something. She had no clue what, but she intended to find out.
"Whatcha reading?" She watched him carefully.
"Just some papers..."
"About what?"
"Stuff."
"What kind of stuff?"
"Important stuff..."
"Why is it important?"
"Because it, um, is?"
"Why?"
He sighed, "Fine, you got me, it's your genetic results."
"What do they say?"
"I can't quite tell, that's the weird part..."
"Hmmmm..." She jumped on the control panel to see the paper as sparks flew and smoke rose. She jumped off immediately.
"That's why!"
"What's why?"
"Only a hybrid can do that!"
"A hy-what now?" She tilted her head in response.
"A hybrid, they usually break technology they touch, unless it's from their home planet of course."
"What, so you mean, this is from another planet?" She motioned to the whole room with a hoof.
"Well, yes!" He sat down and stared at the small filly. He was expecting her to be sad or confused, but instead she jumped to her hoofs.
"That is so cool!" She smiled brightly and hopped around the floor, her wings flittering as she went.
"Y-your not confused?" He tilted his head.
"Kinda, but this is awesome!" She continued to hop around the floor until she hit a wall. "Ow... That hurt..."
"You didn't see that wall?"
"That's normal for me. I have bad depth perception. Runs in my family." She simply shook her head and jumped back up.
"Okay, but do you have any alien relatives that you know of?"
"Nope." She stopped bouncing and sat in front of him. As she examined his coat again she noticed something weird, it had turned lighter brown than before. She shrugged and simply let it be. The gray pegasus jumped to his hooves again and trotted to the controls. He pushed some buttons before grabbing the filly and heading out the door.
