Chapters "Huh...the skies sure are sunny today...I wonder what will welcome me here..." I remarked, as I read the sign that spells out "WELCOME TO PONYVILLE!"... "Well, I guess that this must be a good place. Hey...what is that gray thing over there?" It seems I have just spotted a gray pony with a blonde mane hanging off to the side. After it looked at me, no matter how mysterious I must be, clad in my dark robes, I could tell that it was a mare that has yellow eyes, but one of them seemed to be more different than a lazy eye. As she tried to speak, her voice sounded low, and a bit broken?
"Welcome to Ponyville! My name is Ditsy Hooves! But if you want to, you can just call me Derpy! I carry letters all around Ponyville with my trust-yyy wings!" So...she was a pegasus pony named 'Derpy'. Well, that's quite a nice name and all, but it would be nicer if she gave me directions.
"Ugh, Derpy! Do you HAVE to trouble all the new townsfolk? I mean, seriously! He seems to have had a long day!" Well...this is a pretty mare that I seem to be attracted to has a rainbow mane and a cyan coat. "Hey, I'm Rainbow Dash, and I can see you are new here in Ponyville. Want me to show you around, Uhh?"
"Well, hello Rainbow Dash. My name is Echo Song, but if you want, you can call me Echo. And, yes, I would appreciate if you could give me a tour. Although, can you make sure it doesn't last until late? I have to meet a mare that you may-"
"Got a little date that you need to be getting to? Ah, who am I kiddin' a pony like you would never be able to know a mare that fast!" Haha! Anyways, why are you wearing those robes? It's quite hot around here, let me just take those off for you!"
I tried with all my breath to protest, but she ripped off my disguise faster than she dashed over to me. Oh no...she must be freaking out now, I think, as my groomed misty blue coat, Pegasus wings, and Unicorn horn come to view. Well, just her view, since she is right in front of me.
*Gasp!* "U-Unicorn horn.....P-Pegasus wings! I only know two others that look like that! You must be an Alicorn! I thought only Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon- I mean Princess Luna were Alicorns!"
"SHH! You can't let anybody know! I came here just Because somepony found out in my last town!" I grab her by the shoulders tightly, making her look deep into my eyes.
"Why do you have Alicorn features? Are you a spy ?!? Just wait until I drag you off to Princess Celestia!" She somehow throws me off, then puts me in a strangulating choke hold
A familiar voice sounds behind Rainbow Dash, and I just gave a sigh of relief. "Why exactly are you holding my friend in a chokehold, about to fly?" It was Princess Luna! Your best friend! "I demand you drop him right now, Rainbow Dash" He has done NOTHING to make you act like this
Princess Luna and I were sitting outside Sugarcube corner, waiting for our lunch. Rainbow Dash was there too, but after the misunderstanding back at the town square, she was covered in bandages and gauze wraps. She kept apologizing, but after the third time, it got annoying.....very annoying. "Ooooh! Luna, I'm SO sorry about hurting your friend! I SO didn't know that you knew him! I'm so-"
"Rainbow, like I told you the last 19 times, It is fine! You just didn't know!" It was the first time I'd raised my voice like this in a long time. I didn't even yell when I was practically mugged by three fillies with a catchy name...what was it? AH, yes, the Cutie Mark Crusaders! Rainbow Dash, Luna, and I were the only ones who knew I was an alicorn, and I intend to keep it that way.
"Just Please stop apologizing! If you keep it up, you will get over excited and hurt yourself again. I am the one who should be apologizing, after all..." She started blushing, as she obviously remembered what had happened...It was quite a long story....
"Ah! Princess Luna! It's you!"
"Nightmare- I mean, LUNA! Do you SEE this imposter?!?!" She once again ripped my robes off to reveal my body. How many times is she going to do that?
"Rainbow, I have known Echo for a long time, and I know that he is an alicorn!" The next part she muttered a part she thought nopony would her. "A handsome alicorn at that!" It was then that I started blushing, and Rainbow burst out laughing. Of course, that just egged Luna on....and she cast a painful spell, and mixed it with a spell that turned Rainbow's face into one of an old hermit.
"Well.....it looks like our food is here. Are you sure you don't want anything, Rainbow Dash? I have enough bits to feed all of Canterlot and Cloudsdale. I could spare some for you, as long as it is okay!" She still denied my bits. She can be as stubborn as an ass sometimes! Of course I just had to tell her that to her face. Big mistake...
"W-what the hay?!?! Ooh, Echosong, I am SO going to kill you when I get out of this! I-I mean....that...wasn't....oh, buck it! I messed up!" I actually thought this was funny. Luna just burst out laughing. She finally spoke again.
"My dear Rainbow, you don't have to censor yourself! It's ok, nopony else can hear! Anyways, Echo...what brings you here to the quiet town of Ponyville?" Well, I knew it couldn't be avoided...guess I'd better tell her...
Chapter 1:The explanation
After the food was served (And Rainbow Dash having to be spoonfed her unwillingly bought food), she asked the question that I had been waiting for. This Rainbow is curious, I'll give her that!
"So, Princess, Echo, how do you two know eachother? None of us have ever seen him in Ponyville, so what gives?" Luna was usually quick to respond to things, but when she opened her mouth to speak, nothing came out, and she had a blank look in her eyes, signalling me to explain. Here goes nothing!
"Well, I just happened to be wandering around some, then I had a feeling an old friend was near. I thought the friend was in Ponyville, since on Nightmare Night, I sensed her there the most. So, I camped out for a while, fixed my appearance, since I had been traveling for a long time, most of the time through water or fog. It was a long trip!" Rainbow didn't look convinced, so I knew this interrogation would be going on for longer than the sun was out. Of course, I had all the time to waste now, especially since I found Luna-oh wait...she found me! Rainbow went on. She unfolded her wings, and started waving them around.
"Wait...why didn't you just use your gift of wings? Or use your horn to clear up the fog? If I had a horn, I would be clearing away fog and water at every turn!" Luna was keeping silent through this, but looking at the both of us intently while we spoke.
"Well, Rainbow, I didn't want to draw attention to myself, or tamper with the balance of nature. I don't want to modify things to my own needs, since that would be one of the most irresponsible things I'd ever done." I had to start joking to lessen the tension I felt on both of my sides. Luna and Rainbow were on each side of me, glaring at me and eachother. This...this couldn't be good.
"Well, Echo, what was the MOST irresponsible thing you've ever done?
"Well, the most irresponsible thing I've ever done," I said, winking at Luna, "Was meeting your fair Princess Luna." It worked. I think. They both started, and I heard a strange chortle behind me. I looked in panic, to see nothing there. Then in another direction, there was another chortle. I opened my hood, and put it around my neck, exposing my horn, trying to pin-point the exact location of the next hyper sound. I found it, and my horn sent out the magic.
"H-Hey! This isn't what I had in mind for a party! You're new here, and you NEED one!" I saw both Luna AND Rainbow execute a perfect facehoof, then I looked to what I had caught. A pink pony with a curly mane and balloons for her Cutie Mark. Rainbow obviously was going into a catch phrase.
"Oh, Pinkie Pie, you are so random!"
"Hey, it's what I do! Oh! You didn't get my speeeeeeecial welcome yet! And I don't even know your name! *Gasp* You need a present!" She grabbed something out of her saddlebags that was way to big to have been able to fit in their. When she gave me the box, wrapped in pink paper and polka dots, I was still in wonder.
"Umm...how did this even-" Before I even started, she went out into a speech that was too fast to understand. Luna just stared, and used a spell to give Pinkie Pie a deeper and slower voice. It barely worked.
"WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME TO PONYVILLE! I know EVERY single Pony, Griffin, Zebra, and Dragon there is here! But I didn't know you, so I know you MUST be new in this town! Well, I'm Pinkamena Diane Pie, and I work at SugarCube corner which is right over- Oh wait! Silly me, we're AT SugarCube corner! Hahaha! Anyways, we have to throw you a party, STAT! I could introduce you to all my friends! Let's see, there is Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash-Oh, HEY Rainbow!- Rarity, Spike, Fluttershy, Applejack, and SO MANY OTHERS. Do you like to read? Twilight sure does! She lives in a library! Spike is a dragon, and he's Twilight's assistant! But back to Twilight, she LOVES books! But she read so many books, her mentor who is Princess Celestia, sent her here just because she has no friends at all! Of course, Twilight HATED the idea of being away from her books, and she didn't want to know any of us! The reason we became friends is because of this REEEEALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY scary mare named Nightmare Moon! The mane six-that's what Rainbow calls us- had to team up and BANISH HER BACK TO THE MOON! And THAT is the story of how I got my Cutie Mark!!!" Luna stared at Pinkie Pie with an eyebrow raised. She opened her mouth, and I decided to pull a prank to get back at Rainbow Dash. I focused my magic to make her wings unbalanced. This was going to be good. First, though, I wanted to listen to what Luna said.
"First of all, Pinkie. Nightmare Moon was me , and second of all, the Elements of Harmony you used to beat her didn't send me back to the moon. And third....you said that was how you got your Cutie Mark? Are you sure that this isn't a time warped story? You ARE a bit....hyperactive." This was when I was going to get Rainbow.
"Hey, Rainbow Dash, I'll race you to the Canterlot Castle! Loser has to help the Cutie Mark Crusaders with their stunt to sleep in a giant tub of jelly! And they mean sleep for the normal amount of time ponies sleep, and in a really big tub of grape jelly!" This is going to be soooo good!
"Oh yeah? I could beat you in ten. Seconds. FLAT Ready, Set, Go! " She took off, but as soon as she started flying, she crashed into the three fillies tub of grape jelly. They started yelling with delight.
"Howdy, Rainbow! So yer really gonna sleep in this tub o' jelly? This is really gonna get our Cutie Marks!" Rainbow made a sick face.
"Uh...are you three sure about this? It smells really bad in here!" Scootaloo didn't even give her sister a second glance.
"Come on, girls! We gotta seal her in!" They all cheered as the lid closed on the tub of jelly. It had a small hole for breathing, so she'll be ok in there. I looked to Luna, who was pouting.
"Aw, c'mon Echo! I was gonna do that!"
Rainbow Dash, Luna, and I were walking to the library to meet Twilight Sparkle, which after Pinkie Pie was left behind, Rainbow suggested we go see her. Luna, however, was plotting the perfect prank to pull on Rainbow Dash. She hasn't told me about it, but she doesn't have the best poker face when looking through my eyes. Although, I had already gotten Rainbow with the tub of jelly, but a strange stallion started screaming it was his, and he shoved her out. Now....I could barely tell it was even a pony walking by me. There were parasprites gathering all around her. Parasprites were supposedly rare in Ponyville now, but not dangerous. Maybe it was because of all the jelly that Dash went into, and for that matter, spend a night in! I gradually became hungry, and Luna, with her Alicorn hearing, heard it. She immediately decided we take a detour to Sweet Apple Acres, which apparently, was where Rainbow's other friend, Applejack, lives.
"Ah'ma gon' get ya'll this time, ya pesky varmits!" This sounded bad. Really bad. I put on a sprint, and even used my horn to teleport closer. However, when I saw what was troubling the orange coated blonde pony, I stared in surprise. Nothing was troubling her at all. She was just reading a comic book with so high technology, somepony can interact with it in any way they please, including becoming a minor character in the comic. When I cleared my throat, she must have jumped six feet into the air. She looked at me, my robes, Luna, and Rainbow Dash.
"Uh...what in tarnation are ya doin on mah fam'ly's apple farm? I don't think Ah ever met'cha in mah life, and no friend o' mine just wears black robes al' th' time. So who and what are ya?" I sighed, obviously I wouldn't be able to win this fight. I felt a warmth on my head, concentrating my magic. I flung off my ropes, to reveal myself. Her jaw dropped, which was pretty much the reaction that I normally got. What was to my surprise was how she was....drooling. "Well, howdy, there, sugarcube! Anything ah can get'cha, maybe ya'll are hungry? Why don'tcha come on in, Miss Luna and Rainbow Dash." I looked back and more to my surprise, Luna had the same drooling face, and Rainbow seemed to not be attracted to me. That is, I thought, until she licked her lips in pure wanting! I started to back away from them slowly, but then they saw. It was either I run away as fast as my hooves, and maybe even wings, could carry me. I was pretty sure I could outrun Applejack, and barely get away from Luna...but Rainbow Dash? I'm probably going to die today! Although, it wouldn't hurt to at least try to get away. My horn started glowing, and I threw the three ponies into the tub of jelly that the Cutie Mark Crusaders kept on dragging around, but it didn't last long. Especially since Applejack was in there, and it wasn't her favorite.
"What in tarnation?!?! This is GRAPE jelly! Why Ah oughta just!" She then kicked the side of the jelly tub, making it topple over, and started to run after me.
"H-hey, now, girls! Can't I decide anything in this town?" I started to run as fast as possible, but when I looked back, Applejack was barely a foot from my tail. Not only that, but Luna and Rainbow were farther behind, with Luna quickly changing into a bigger pony with purple armor on. I recognized this new form as Nightmare Moon, and my wings spread out as far as possible, and I took off. Right when I flew, Applejack put on a burst of speed and tackled the air where I was a mere moment ago. Close call? Not exactly. Rainbow was running also with her wings spread out, and I realized exactly why, and I almost gagged. A hint: They weren't spread for flying purposes. Luna was doing better, and started casting random spells in all directions, hitting random ponies, inflicting random ailments on the ponies. Luna was random when chasing after stallions. That much was simple. Although, despite my general reaction to Rainbow Dash, I was quite flattered that her wings were spread and throbbing as they were. I might have to slow down at sometime, but when I do, I may or may not like it.
