//-------------------------------------------------------// A Tyrant Friend -by RaChimera- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A Tyrant Lizard King in A New Kingdom //-------------------------------------------------------// A Tyrant Lizard King in A New Kingdom The Tyrannosaurus Rex. A vicious predator that was 16ft tall, 43 ft in length, and weighed up in 7 tons. Its name means ‘King of The Tyrant Lizards’ and it was given that wisely for it ruled ancient North America. It ranged from Canada to even as far south as Texas. We’ve given it many titles over the years we’ve discovered their fossils. But to say that we know what they are would be a lie as none of us have ever known what a T-Rex truly was. Although, one Tyrannosaurus can tell us about one title we could give them. The title of ‘Friend’. 68 million years ago in what would be today Northern Colorado, the morning signals the new day for survival. And in the plains laying under a tree was the mightiest carnivore in North America. The Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Tyrannosaurus Rex or T-Rex had brown scales with darker stripes and a tan underbelly. It slumbered under this tree, snoring loudly as it kept still like a log. That was until the morning sun struck his eyes, signaling the morning hunt. It let out a mighty yawn to announce its rise and proceeded out to find its prey for that day. It began to walk with thunderous steps, shaking the ground underneath his weight, scaring off small mammals that were near it. Its walk also awoken nearby Pterodactyls which then flew off in a panic. The lumbering titan walked around for a few minutes around the hunting grounds it claimed until a certain smell struck his nostrils and activated his hunting instincts. It was the smell of fresh blood being spilt. Following the smell, he walked into an uncharted part of a lush forest which he went into hundreds of times. He walked around and around for a few more minutes until he saw what made the smell. It was the fallen body of an Edmontosaurus that was being devoured by a familiar headache to the T-Rex. They were 3-4ft tall at the hips, 6 ft long, and weighed in at less than 100 pounds. Each of them had light green scales and dark green stripes that went down from the top of their necks to the tip of their tails. White feathers went down their necks and down the sides of their tails. They had tan claws on their hands and feet and a large, curved killing claws on their feet. They were swift killers of the Cretaceous Period. They were Dromaeosaurs. http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110925090661/jurassicfightclub/images/thumb/0/0e/Dromaeosaurus.png/300px-Dromaeosaurus.png The leader of the pack was eating a large piece of liver when it noticed the T-Rex. The King wasn’t about to let a couple of short freaks take all it’s food and soon let loose a mighty roar. Youtube Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlhgH8bosyM) The Dromaeosaurs jumped back at the sound of the T-Rex’s roar and began to bark back at him. But no matter how much they barked, the T-Rex roared even louder at the top of his lungs at the small creatures. This kept on and on for a few minutes until the Dromaeosaurs turned tail and ran for their lives, hoping that the T-Rex wouldn’t slaughter them. The mighty Dinosaur snorted in satisfaction and walked towards it’s prey. It got close to the corpse and then proceeded to chomp down on it. The T-Rex tore the corpse apart and revelled in the blood and guts that was torn apart from its food. As he swallowed a chunk of flesh that he pulled from the Edmontosaurus’ flank, he felt in the ground heavy impacts. As if something was stomping on the forest floor. Picking up the vibrations through his feet, he began to follow it. This was easy for him because scientists have recently discovered that T-Rexes can pick up vibrations through their feet that travels up the skeleton and into their inner ears. Anyway, as he followed the vibrations, he saw something through a patch of foliage that made him give a grin. It was a herd of Triceratops. These herbivores were common enemies of Tyrannosaurus. But as the T-Rex looked through the herd, he noticed an elderly male that was in the center of the herd. But then to the elder’s left, he noticed a familiar Triceratops that had half of his left horn from when the two titans previously met. He growled as he saw his old enemy in the front lines with a meal ticket right next to it. It seemed that the Triceratops also recognized him as he let loose a warning call that alerted the rest of the herd. As the Triceratops formed a protective circle around the juvenile and elderly Triceratops, the T-Rex erupted from the foliage at his full speed of 25 mile per hour with his jaws agape, making the horned dinosaurs lowered their heads. The T-Rex then slowed down and began to circle the herd, looking for a weak point in the herd’s defense and any hope in getting the elder. He soon saw a gap where a Triceratops would normally be and was about to charge when he felt a familiar force hit him from the side. He turned to see the half-horned Triceratops from earlier. The sheer anger he felt at being denied his meal once more by this thing was immeasurable. The two titans began to form a circle as they prepared for their greatest fight that decided who will live and who will die. The Triceratops began by charging the T-Rex. But he dodged the charge and using his jaws, the T-Rex bit the Triceratops on his back, making it shriek in pain as the serrated fangs tore into his flesh. The Triceratops then rushed the T-Rex and managed to get the mighty dino off his side. The T-Rex growled but then showed a grin which contained bits of flesh in between his teeth. The Triceratops gave off a bellow before lowering its head and charging. The T-Rex did the same but before the two collided, a flash of light surrounded the T-Rex and before the Triceratops knew it, its rival had vanished. Meanwhile deep in a place known as the Everfree Forest, three young fillies were walking around trying to earn their Lizard Tracking Cutie Marks, it is currently unknown if there was such a thing, but fate seemed to enjoy tormenting them. “Do ya’ girls see anythin’?” One of the fillies named Applebloom asked as she looked in a hole inside a tree. “Nope. No lizards here.” One of the others name Scootaloo replied. “There has to be lizards here! There has to be!” The third and last filly said angrily as she looked in a bush. This one was named Sweetie Belle although she wasn’t being very sweet at the moment. She continued to beat around the bush when she finally saw a lizard footprint on the ground. “I found a track girls!” She yelled in excitement. Her friends quickly moved towards her and saw the print. But soon had faces of shock as they saw that the footprint was bigger than their heads. It had three clawed toes pointing forward. “S-Sweetie, I don’t think we should follow them.” Scootaloo said in a scared tone. “Why not?” Sweetie asked. “Because whatever made that large footprint is nearby and I do not want to get eaten by whatever made it.” She replied angrily. Sweetie just rolled her eyes and walked on wards to find whatever kind of lizard made the tracks. She was not even far into the forest when she ran smack into a tree trunk. Or what she thought was a tree trunk. When her vision became clear, she saw a foot on the end of the trunk ending in three, solid black claws. Looking upwards, she saw a body with brown scales and dark brown stripes. A long tail swung at one end of the body. The giant beast then looked down and merely saw a new snack for it to devour and satisfy its hunger for a short time. Sweetie just screamed as the beast opened its jaws and lunged at her. //-------------------------------------------------------// Quick Escape, New Creatures //-------------------------------------------------------// Quick Escape, New Creatures Sweetie couldn’t do anything but keep still in fear as her life neared a close. For it was to be ended by a large, reptilian monster with serrated teeth. Goodbye Rarity! I loved having you as a sister! She screamed in her thoughts as she closed her eyes and waited for the thing to eat her whole. But after a few minutes, she noticed that she didn’t feel any pain. Slowly, she raised an eyelid and saw that it was backing away. Why isn’t it going to eat me? Is it my- She began until she realized the answer. Her perfume. The thing must’ve thought she was something bad tasting by her smell. She sighed a little, as this brought her a few seconds of safety, but this was short lived as the giant reptile roared loud enough to possibly ruin her hearing. Youtube Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XDyfBYE4DY) As she covered her ears, she got up and paid attention in front of her and watched her steps as she ran. She ran as hard as she could without noticing her two friends behind her. “WHAT IS THAT THING?!” Scootaloo yelled as she felt the ground shake, knowing the lizard wasn’t too far behind. “I DON’T KNOW BUT WE GOTTA MAKE IT TO TOWN! COME ON!” Sweetie yelled as she tried to pick up her pace so that she could outrun the creature. As she did this another figure came up right beside her. It was Scootaloo driving her scooter with Applebloom in it’s carriage. “HOP IN SWEETIE!” She yelled. Acting fast, she leaped into the carriage and held on. But then, she screamed along with her friends when the beast suddenly appeared behind them and followed them through the forest. “SCOOTALOO, WE NEED TO LOSE THIS THING! WE CAN’T LEAD IT TO TOWN!” Sweetie yelled to her friend who simply nodded as she made a sharp left turn. The Tyrannosaurus Rex was amazed at the prey it was chasing. Very few creatures were able to outrun it like this. Then again it didn’t help that the trees were blocking it’s progress and the fact it was smelling multiple things at once which didn’t help the beast find it’s prey. That, and the fact they took a left turn that is impossible for him to make. He growled in frustration for he’d lost his lunch… or that’s at least what he thought. Suddenly, his nose picked up the sweet but sickening scent of a rotting corpse that’s wasn’t too far from where he was. What would he choose? Going after three small, hard-to-get meals or an easy dead thing? His answer was simple. He would go after the corpse. It didn’t taste as good as living prey but it was food none the less. He walked towards the corpse and it saw that it was a strange mix of animals, what looked like a mammal for the body, head and legs, a scorpion’s tail, and pterosaur wings on its back. It was a weird mixture but it must’ve tasted good. He noticed smaller bite marks on the body so something must’ve been here before him. He approached it slowly, the scent of rotting meat stronger with every step and with an open maw, pressed down onto its ribs. The T-Rex yanked back and pulled a large chunk of flesh and it tasted… amazing. It wasn’t like Triceratops or Hadrosaur meat but it was good. It continued to rip pieces off the corpse before it heard a rustling. He looked over and saw one of the strangest creatures in it’s life. It appeared to be a mammal but it seemed to be made completely of wood and had glowing green eyes. T-Rex snarled as he placed a clawed foot on his lunch as the being approached and snarled at him also. The two snarled for a minute before T-Rex stepped over his lunch and crushed the creature under his foot, causing many wooden ligaments of the beast to snap apart. He smirked as he lifted his foot to examine what remained of the creature. All that remained was a few splinters in the ground and it even saw the remains of what could be considered it’s eye. As the king returned to his feast, the Dinosaurs back on Earth were continuing their business. But for some, they’ll be moved to a new place.. to survive.
