There was a beautiful field about a quarter mile away from Ponyville. It was peaceful and quiet, very orderly, the last place you would expect to find the spirit of chaos and disharmony.

Discord sat in that field, contemplating his life, "I'm starting to unwillingly affect Fluttershy, she seems a bit more stern than when I first met her," he stated to no one in particular, "I annoy or terrify everypony that I see, whether I want to or not!" this depression had been going for a while, no matter how hard they both tried, neither Fluttershy nor Discord could stop his seemingly endless sadness. "Fluttershy is really my only friend."

"No one would miss me," he said, yet again to no one, "no one," he repeated this over and over, until finally, he believed it, after a while, he teleported to his own home. That night, he did something nopony thought he ever would or could do.

The mane six were gathered at Twilight's house for their biweekly sleepover. They had games and all sorts of snacks. Gummy had crashed the party and was hanging out in the puch bowel. The music was on full blast and everypony was dancing when Fluttershy couldn't hold it in any more.

"Um, guys?" asked Fluttershy desperately, she was quickly drowned out by the noise, "Guys?" she tried again but yet again, no one heard her. "GUYS!" she cried out, getting everyone's attention, "I have really been worried about Discord lately, I should have said something sooner, but Discord told me not to tell, but I really need help, Discord is really depressed, he feels like he's useless and all alone, I'm actually afraid he might be cutting or something!" a collective gasp could be heard, there were a few moments of silence.

"He'll be fine sugar cube! If it makes you feel better we could go right on over and visit 'im right now to show 'im he has friends and that he doesn't need to be sad any more, ok?" asked Applejack, to not just Fluttershy, but the whole group.

"Yeah!" said the other four ponies in unison, resulting in a fit of giggles.

"Then let's go!"

When they finally arrived at Discord's house, no one would answer the door. They knocked and yelled to no avail.

"Maybe he's just sleeping," said Twilight, hoping for the best. Fluttershy gave her an extremely worried look.

"Maybe, but I'm really worried about him!" said Fluttershy, prompting them to knock on the door and yell inside again, still no response.

"Here, I have a spell that can open the door," said Twilight, firing up her horn. Everyone gave her questioning looks, wondering why she even knew a spell like that.

"Well why didn't you say so earlier?" asked Rarity, annoyed that Twilight hadn't told them sooner about this spell. By the time she finished, Twilight was already inside.

When the others entered, Discord was nowhere to be seen, however a note was, a note that read,

To whom it may concern,

It's probably been a while since anyone has seen me, hasn't it? I am most likely doing fine in my new home. I hope Fluttershy and all others are doing ok. It has probably been days, weeks, months, maybe even a year since I decided to leave this world. I was unintentionally annoying and or scaring the life out of everypony I saw. I have determined no one will miss me, though I will miss everyone. My body should be in the bathroom if anyone cares to retrieve it. I am sorry for any and all trouble I have caused, intentional or not.

Arrivederci for the last time, Discord

Fluttershy flew to Discord's bathroom at a speed that could almost create a sonic rainboom as soon as she finished reading that letter, Discord's last letter. When she arrived, she could not believe what she saw. Discord was laying on the floor, throat and wrists cut, fresh blood all around him and on the walls, he was barely alive, still alive though, his eyes, glazed over, were not focusing on anything, until they saw Fluttershy.

"Fluttershy, is that you?" asked Discord weakly, Fluttershy nodded, her eyes filled with tears, she ran over and gave him the biggest hug he had ever received.

"Yes Discord it's me," she started, looking at him with her tear filled eyes, "please, I promise you, not only will I miss you but I know the other Elements of Harmony will miss you too,'

"That's good to know before I go." Discord said, giving his best friend a sincere smile. Fluttershy started crying more than ever. Discord could only hug her back.

"No, please, use your magic! Do anything, I cant lose you! You're my best friend!" Fluttershy had started panicking. Tears streamed down both of their faces, mixing with the blood.

"I'm sorry Fluttershy, it's to late for me, but can you give crazy ol' Discord one last smile?" Discord asked softly, his last request. Fluttershy stared for a few moments before replying,

"O-okay," said Fluttershy weakly, she gave Discord the best smile she could manage and tearfully wrapped him into another tight hug.

"Thank you Fluttershy, you were, scratch that, you are the best friend anyone could ever wish for, see you on the flip side," Discord gave Fluttershy one last smile and went limp in her arms.

Fluttershy walked out of the bathroom, spots of blood on her coat, and looked at her friends, nothing needed to be said, they went in for a big group hug. Fluttershy said the four words that Discord had needed to hear so long ago, "You will be missed."
