The day they arrived was one of a very sobering nature. Noone could have foreseen this, noone ever expected anything to come true. But silently, everyone was aware of how hopelessly dull our universe was. We were alone, or so we thought. Scientists and mathematicians had proven that the existence of other intelligent life in the galaxy, let alone the universe was so infinitesimal. When I looked up that day, and saw the impossible, it was that feeling. That feeling when you realise that something is very wrong. That feeling when you realise that nothing will ever be the same. That feeling when you just experienced something that is by the very definition of the universe, impossible.
It WAS impossible.
At first, you glanced up at the moon, and all you thought was that some strange cloud was positioned very strangely. Simply dismissing it at first, and going about your day as if there was nothing at all to be concerned about. Truth be told, it took all of humanity a whole 24 hours before we realised what was going on, and even then, we had no idea.
Above the moon, almost eclipsing behind it, was another planet. A green disk circled the moon, patches of blue and yellow here and there. It didn’t make any sense. How in ALL OF FUCKING CREATION did a planet just appear behind the moon. The day the Earth realised, that by some strange force of magic, a planet of similar size, and ilk to earth had just appeared. Everybody walked out onto their streets, their patios. Everyone walked outside, and just looked up.
“What… the… fuck…”
And as with any situation like this, it was chaos. Such terrible chaos. Riots, Religions, Wars, The fucking space race all over again. Tension between the four super-powers of the world reignited as they all fought over… over what?
The weather was the first thing people noticed, and the cause was soon discovered. The new Earths were orbiting the moon, in almost perfect balance. This created a strange effect, the weather turned into a strange ebb and flow, where we would get a heatwave, then a cold snap every four days. The tides, of course, were never the same. Such fierce gravity changes made it almost impossible to live near the sea. Most people simply packed up and moved further inland. But the displacement just added to the turmoil.
Korea was the first country to be swept under the coming dominations. In one week, China swallowed the North whole, without a single nuclear weapon fired to their credit too. Then the South in the next two.
Second was Europe and Russia. After the union of Korea and China, Russia had to re-evaluate their position. They delegated with the European Union, forming Greater United States of Eurasia. Immediately, they began fortifications of their defense networks, and started first on the second great space race.
Already it had been determined that there was a breathable atmosphere, as well as intelligent life on this other planet. Astonished at how similar the planet looked to ours, many believed that it was some illusion, claiming it was the work of the devil, tempting us with a false paradise. Others believed the opposite, that it was Eden. The origin of life, returned to reunite itself with earth.
Many more political movements had begun. America bolstered its presence in Japan, at request of their government. China began its marauding southward, swallowing all Asian countries right down to Indonesia and Papua. Australia and New Zealand defected from GUSE, creating the Pacific Coalition. South America united under one country, becoming South America United. Africa never managed to get its shit together, Most of the southern countries united under South Africa, but thats as far as it got.
But the worst was yet to come.
India, like a cornered animal, panicked. China’s new aggression forced them into drastic measures. They would not be overwhelmed by their neighbors without a fight. The first weeks of negotiations with Pakistan were tense. They both had a common reason to unite, but their old tensions were far from resolved. As China began its march into Burma, the tension snapped. India began its invasion of the northern border into Pakistan. Their desperate campaign halted only a few miles from the original border. But it was enough. Three days of border-war was halted by mans greatest atrocity.
It was felt around the world, The explosion. One of Russia's greatest “Achievements” had been bartered off to Pakistan. Tsar warheads. Bombs designed to wipe out continents. In all the chaos and confusion, no-one saw it coming. Many planes were shot down. But there were many decoys, and the ones that did get through…
The first city hit was Mumbai. In the span of Ten seconds, 14 million people were just… gone… Next was Chennai. The third and last bomb was destined for Delhi but was shot over Jaipur. The fallout from the explosion rendered Delhi uninhabitable anyways.
And thus world war three had begun. America demanded they retaliate against Pakistan. But GUSE insisted that any action by America would result in their explicit retaliation. China never stopped their advance. The abandoned the Burma invasion, and dumped all their resources into the taking of India and Pakistan. India was routed completely, and Pakistan fell in the first month.
The Pacific Coalition, panicked just as much as India, began the greatest record of mandatory conscription ever witnessed by humankind. 40% of the entire population of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Isles were regimented, with another 20% conscripted into arms manufacturing and defensive construction. Fortunately, they were successful, and began their race for naval supremacy. It would only take them 6 months to become the greatest defense force on earth. They had no interests in the space race, which had been promptly forgotten by almost everyone.
The Greater United States of Europe, however, had not forgotten. They had all the resources they could spare funneled into a mass-deployment interplanetary ship. With great vigor, they took the international space station, and began construction. 3 weeks after the bombs fell, they had their solution. America had been left in the dust, their scientists still scrambling for funding, all the while thier politicians trying to be global peace keepers. China ceased its halt at the GUSE border, and began to fortify its position. Riots across all their newly acquired states was proving to be difficult. In all states beside India…
China was only a week behind GUSE, but still a week too late.
First contact was something the GUSE task force wasn’t expecting. The were prepared for everything. Hostilities, ignorance, But no. The were welcomed with open… hooves? Sentient, talking equines. Equines that spoke the Queens English. Equines with seemingly Western accents. Equines with a Monarchy. The first-contact team were introduced to their Leader, One Princess Celestia. This was the most bizarre thing they had encountered. One person was incapacitated, he kept screaming at all he saw, claiming he knew where he was. It took HQ a long time to realise that what they were dealing with. They knew very well why this new place was familiar, but they kept it top secret. No-one could know what was happening. But they never had a choice in the matter.
As many observations that could have been made, were. Upon entering the atmosphere of the other planet, visual contact with earth was lost. It seemed that something was masking view of Earth proper. The second was the very strange neutrino emissions coming from… everything. The first time a unicorn used magic in front of a First-contact officer, all their sensors went haywire. Samples were taken back, and First-contact attempted to negotiate 3 representatives from this new world- This “Equestria” would come back to earth for tests and negotiations for this new magical technology. The Princess refused, rather suddenly, and insisted that they leave. GUSE First Contact was ordered immediately to oblige, and refused profusely. They still couldn't believe what was happening.
The eve China was set to launch their mission to the planet now known as Earth-B, the world would know. I would know too, but I thought I was dreaming. It was… there was no describing how I felt. It wasn’t joy, it wasn't excitement, it wasn't fear. It was the same feeling as when the planet had appeared 3 months ago.
All across the globe, in every town and city. The lights stretched out in thin ribbons. The Aurora rippled out, all the way to the equator. And from the Aurora she came, the giant, ethereal spectre of Princess Celestia. she looked just as she had from the show. Her mane rippled like the polar lights, her features regal and powerful. She spoke with terrifying confidence, and her message was blunt and terrifying.
“I have had the terrible pleasure of watching your race from afar these past 3 moons. Our fates were entwined by some foul magic that could not be contained forever. The one we called Discord has brought our abodes together in a twisted mess that will never be fixed easily. But of all the places he could have brought my kin. It was here, to the most terrible and violent of places in existence. I cannot fathom how you have advanced to the levels of scientific prowess that you have without destroying your selves utterly. But in the three months I have seen. Much good, has been outdone by much evil. So I will give you this one warning, and ultimatum.
“I have the most terrible pleasure of deciding your fate, because to deny you such mercy would be cruel. You must all revoke you war-like ways. For the safety of yourselves, and for my subjects. You all must unite under a single banner, and usher in global peace. Or I will force you myself. You have another three moons to do so.”
And with that, well. Needless to say... it was... hard to tell...
Riots across the globe. Mass executions of anyone identified as a Brony. America had it the worst. Riots, akin to the race-riots of old, tore apart the country. the “traitors” were killed, burned, crucified, hung, beaten, tortured. The Hasbro Corporate-Office was suicide bombed by southern radicals, All things to do with pony were eradicated from the face of the earth. No Brony was safe, all their identities were intercepted from online records. All governments condemned the actions, but they could not stop them. Soon, there were no more Bronies, and all knowledge of Equestria became obscured.
In the fourth month, China began its ploy for Japan. Their riots had been subdued, mainly due to the message from the princess. They began a blitz propaganda campaign, claiming that they knew all along of the Princess and her intentions to ‘take away our freedom’. Many of their new states rallied behind them, refusing the Princess’ offer. Their army doubled in size, and they began to bombard the Island nation. America retaliated, beginning a ploy to retake South Korea. China gave them one last verbal warning, that their retribution would be swift. America never took it seriously.

New York, LA, Washington, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, San Francisco, San Antonio, Seattle. All gone in one hour. China had hit America where they hadn’t expected it. The country was in shambles, it was gone. Just… gone. No more reports, no communication. The only thing the world received from America for the longest time was the massive fallout clouds swirling overhead in the jetstream. Japan was taken in a week, as America broke its treaty and returned to their wasteland of a home. Noone saw that coming, none but China.
Then it began. GUSE began its ICBM Flurry towards Bejing and Shanghai, And China did likewise to Berlin, London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Moscow. For 1 month, missiles were fired and shot down. Both sides were entirely prepared. And once again they forgot about the looming threat. the threat they never once took seriously.
The Pacific Coalition and South Africa were blamed for the deception. GUSE and South America United both claimed that China’s super-mobile nuclear carriers had been given safe passage through their territories, thus the American requiem began from the Atlantic: In exchange for China’s Trust. The Pacific Coalition denied the allegations, but south Africa never once responded. All the ambassadors in South Africa were deported, and they became as recluse as the North Korea of last year.
The Three month deadline had come. On the night, all the citizens of earth did look up at the sky as the Aurora stretched far and wide. The missiles stopped for one hour.
“Citizens of Earth. You did not heed my warning. You are a danger to yourselves and cannot be helped. But the threat to My Little Ponies is intolerable. Even now as your missiles head towards my planet, You demise will come. Face destruction, for you have one week left to console with your families.”
What China hadn’t told the rest of the globe, is that they had prepared an assault. IPBM’s had been deployed and were well on the way to Equestria. What they didn't know is that they were always destined to fail. All knowledge of Celestia's prowess had been almost forgotten. Not once did they consider that she was actually a god.
Thats where I came into this story. SAS of the British Army WELL before this even started. The day Celestia made first contact, my job description was changed drastically. GUSE had spent a good three quarters of its Research and Development into a weapon that could completely nullify neutrinos. They eventually developed a gun that would absorb the particles and re-purpose them into a Plasma stream, and the second was a liquid serum.
Second contact, I was boarded onto a ship. I was packed full of Neutrino-resistant armor. Serum Dart-gun with endless ammo strapped to my belt. And my huge energy pack, connected up to this strange looking gun. 3 months I had been training for a One-way mission. I volunteered for it. My entire family was on vacation in America when the bombs were dropped. I don’t know if they survived or not. But I automatically assumed the worst.
“Lieutenant Anon, we are ready to launch from ISS. Begin pre-launch check.”
“Fuel Pressure and temps, green. Orbital Drop Systems, Green. All systems green. Radar, yellow. I don’t think i’ll need it though. Neutrino shielding is fully operational.”
“Roger, Beginning launch sequence. Communication is a no-go after launch. May god go with you Anon.”
“Thank you, and remember. If you find my family. Tell them what I did”

The timer started up. And as I launched, so did the hopes of all mankind. GUSE officials already knew what Celestia was doing. The sun had grown closer. And within a week, the earth would be a scorched wasteland. I had been sent to assassinate Celestia. My tools specifically designed to eradicate magic. But it would all be for folly
“Orbital Drop in 3… 2… 1…”
I felt the pod drop. The G-force increasing as the pods heat shields began to push me through the atmosphere. I had 2 days of alone-time. Noone to talk to. All by myself in the claustrophobic space. It gave me time to think about what had happened. I wasn’t angry. Not at China, Not at India, Not at America. Not at South Africa or The Pacific Coalition. I wasn’t even angry at Celestia. I was angry at myself. For being me. Mankind was wretched, but I had decided that I would embrace the wretchedness. This strange godly figure would not evade my guns, or my infinite wroth.
“Activating Inertial Nullifiers.” Impact in 3… 2… 1…
The thud was subtle, and my stomach lurched as the Inertial Nullifier negated the descents force. The door blew off, and I stepped out into the light.
A garden surrounded my crater, dirt had been thrown over everything, and a dust cloud enveloped the place, giving me sufficient cover to run to the next building.
I had been deployed in the castle. Known as Canterlot. I had a map built into the hud on my helmet, and would race to the Throne room first, then the Chambers. Monarchs were so predictable.
Before I went, i looked up. All I could see was the sun. It looked bigger, but the temperature was normal.
I was closer to the throne room, so I started for there. I ran up a flight of stairs, hearing shouting as I left. Not looking back, I began my ascent. I raced down a corridor, and came skidding to a halt. In front of me was a pair of White Unicorns, their horns aimed at me, and their poises ready. They hurled energy bolts at my armor, but they simply vanished as they made contact. I grinned, and pulled the dart gun from my belt. I shot them each in the shoulder and could only look away as their bodies began to burn. The screams… were off-putting. But I carried on, treading over their ashes.
Two more doors flung open, and I decided to make handiwork of my new plasma cannon. I flicked the switch on and waited for the magical attacks. Bolts blazed on, hitting my armor and being immediately absorbed. The charge meter went straight to full, and I pulled the trigger.
The heat was blistering. I quickly pulled my visor down on my helmet and sprayed my assailants. They melted, again screaming in agony as all their magic was ignited. Neutrinos became hot plasma.
Thats when I heard it. A scream of fury from above. A scream that sounded a little too familiar. Hearing recordings of her conversations day after day in recordings had left me almost scarred. Her voice was so serene, but nevertheless brutal and unwavering.
She knew I was here, and she was not happy.
I raced towards the next stairwell. But no guards. The castle had grown very quiet since Celestia shouted in fury. What was going on. I raced forward, and finally came to the throne room.
The door opened as i pushed it, Its hinges glided soundlessly as I inched further and further into the room. Sitting at her throne was my target, her eyes were tracking something outside. This was my chance. I applied the barrel to my dart gun as silently as possible. Took aim.
And Fired.
The darts stopped in mid air, and Celestia’s expressionless face became one of glee.
“Hello Anon, how nice to see you.”
Her grin was warm, but her eyes spoke murder. She simply yawned and just stared at me. Daring me to make another move.
I jolted down, letting the dart gun to fall, and grabbed the plasma cannon. It was still nearly full. I took quick aim, and pulled the trigger.
“DIE YOU SICK BITCH!”
The plasma streamed out and burned all it touched. The heat was incredible, and I never once let the trigger go till the entire charge had been released. Steam filled the throne room, and I couldn’t see much. It began to clear and… wait… What was happening.
I wasn’t in the throne room anymore. I was… This was… London?!
Husks of buildings collapsed as their molten supports could no longer support the weight. The Thames was a scorched bed, the water long gone. London bridge was falling down, and Big Ben burned.
I was back on earth.
I cried, my tears evaporating as they fell on the ground. I had failed. The GUSE scientists hadn’t sent me quick enough. IT was over. The world was a scorched wasteland. And it was her fault.
Thats when I noticed she was looming over me. Her head held high, and her gaze burning.
I reacted quickly. I punched her right in the face, my fists burned as I laid punch after punch into her, but she did not move, she did not flinch, she did not react. I slowly stopped, my frame slumped as I just have up.
She lowered her head down to my ear, and whispered.
"Stop resisting, Anon. Just let it happen."
