Isolation can be tough, especially since we humans are social animals. We need the interaction with another person, without it we become weak. Mike knows this, but he denies it. A survivor of the dreaded outbreak, he has somehow found a way to preserve his own life while the world around him fell apart. Now alone, he has all the time in the world to think. To do. To eat. To sleep. To survive. Only by powering through the bad can we make it to the good.

This story takes place on Earth, and the characters have the personalities of the mane six. Think of the man 6 as humans. This isn't a story like Equestria Girls, for they are normal people with the personalities of the mane 6.
