A thousand years have passed since a bloody civil war raged across Equestria. Celestia and Luna are long gone, and of the Equestrian princesses, only Twilight remains. Her friend's died centuries ago, and Spike had left her. She has been alone for hundreds of years, and time has taken it's toll on her memories before those awful years so long ago.
In a bid to remember the time before her life was changed forever she calls out to the only one who was there with her, her old dragon compatriot Spike. She sends him one final letter summoning him to her tower in Canterlot, where she hopes they might be able to come to terms with the horrific acts they witnessed and committed during the bloodiest chapter of Equestrian history.
