Introduction

to The Badlands

Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there lived six best friends, under the rule of two benevolent and beautiful princesses. But a thousand years of peace did poorly to prepare the citizens of Equestria for the horrors of an ancient and long forgotten word: war. They rushed headlong into this “war” with their Zebra neighbors, ignoring how much and how fast they were changing. But, there was one thing that hadn’t changed in the slightest, not through all of those centuries of peace.

War. And war never changes.

The world ended in mutually assured destruction with a lucky few tucked away in their underground bunkers known as Stables, while the pegasi abandoned the rest of the world, sealing up the Equestrian skies forever. It’s been close to 200 years since megaspells of balefire (and much worse) fell across this world, blighting the near perfect lands into oblivion. Yet, strangely enough, there is one place that remains relatively untouched. The scars of its many battles and testing sites notwithstanding, the Badlands south of Princess Luna’s domain still live up to their name.

This world of harmony and friendship and magic has been completely obliterated, and hope is almost nowhere to be found. However, two things still cling to its surface.

Life. And Life will always find a way.

But then again, so will War...
