Twilight Sparkle learns of a hidden magic with a source that is located in Ghastly Gorge. Since Spike is away in Canterlot, she must go to the gorge alone to investigate the source. She is not prepared for what she finds, and is severely injured as a result. Rainbow Dash finds her in time and due to certain circumstances, takes it upon herself to make sure Twilight recovers fully.

Now that the hidden magic has been unlocked, it proceeds to shake the very foundation on which Ponykind has relied for centuries.
