"I just finished doing 950 laps of flying AND 675 wing-ups! And now you're saying I have to do 225 laps of trotting?!"
"This is just 1/4 of what Wonderbolts do. Be lucky that I'm giving you an easy workout mister!" And with that, Spitfire trotted out of the gymnasium.
"Ugh, stupid Spitfire....I would just LOVE it for Spitfire to stop being a complete nuisance", Soarin mumbled. As he was doing his trotting, he started wondering about the upcoming Equestrian Games. 'I can't believe we got in the games! I just hope that Rai'-"OMPH"
"Dude, seriously, watch where you're going!"
"Oops, heh, sorry Fleefoot. I'm just doing my warm ups for our training for the games."
"Well can you do it with your eyes open?"
"Ah, hehe, right."
"Hey Tank, ready for dinner?" After filling up Tank's bowl and nuzzling him as well, Rainbow Dash headed towards her gymnasium so she could do her daily workouts for the Equestrian Games. "O man, I hope Fluttershy and Bulk Biceps be doing their workouts right about now; don't want them to poor performance at the games", Dash said as she stared at her medal. She wouldn't want ANYTHING to get between her team and the games. And when she means anything, she means NOTHING.....
"224.....225! HAHA, in your face Spitfire! Nothing can stop this Wonderbolt!" Soarin was literally out of breath, as he collapsed.
"Yo hero boy, if you're all mighty and strong, I suggest you can do our patrol for us tonight then," Rapidfire said as he smirked.
"O yeah-wait, WHAT?! I can't-you can't-I.....You know what, FINE! I will! I'll show you all that I can do it! But I don't think Spitfire would approve...."
"Oh, oh, OH! How about we take a robot and put it in Soarin's place and he could have the WHOLE day off and Spitty would NEVER notice!!!"
"I'm pretty sure I would notice Surprise."
Everypony turned towards Spitfire as she came inside the gym. "Pretty good Soarin, I never knew somepony as annoying as you would even LISTEN to me," she said as Soarin shot her a glare.
"And you know what? I think you should go out for patrol alone. It could give you one good workout, considering your obsession over pies."
"Spitty, fine I WILL do your stupid patrolling!" And with that, Soarin trotted out of the gym.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!", Surprise shouted.
"WHAT?!", Lightning Streak shouted.
"B-but-but, now, I can never test my Soarbot...." Surprise whimpered.
"UUUGGGGHHHH!"
"........Wait, she actually HAS a robot?!?!?!"
"I'll show Spitty that I can live up to my name", Soarin mumbled as he left the Wonderbolt H.Q.

Fluttershy came over to Dash's house, so she could have her training with Dash. After many discussions about the Equestrian Games....
"Um, Rainbow Dash, are-are you sure it's, um, a good idea? I-I mean that, well, uh, I don't think I'm that good at lifting weights...I mean th-that, um, I could practice my, um, trotting? I-If that's okay with you, I mean.....eeeep!"
"UGH! FLUTTERSHY I REALLY NEED YOU TO-" Rainbow stopped as she noticed Futtershy trying to hide herself in her mane.
"I-I mean that, well...Flutters look, the games mean so much to me and I don't want to flunk.....I mean WE don't want to flunk it. I want you to be at your top game, when it's the day of the games. And since you exactly aren't such a great flier, I suggest you excercise your yourself, by lifting weights. Please Flutters, if you do it I'll.....I'll go with you to the dumb-err I mean this year's butterfly migration."
As Fluttershy heard this, she leaped onto Rainbow Dash and hugged her as tight as she could. "Oh thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Rainbow Dash! I WILL make you proud!!!!"
"Okay......don't need to become Pinkie here....ugh....." Rainbow pushed herself away and checked her calendar. "If you want to make me proud, then you better start now, cuz the games are right around the corner! And also Fluttershy, I finished lifting weights, so I could REALLY use a fly right now. Can you stay here and feed Tank for me, while I go out?"
"Sure Rainbow Dash, but,um, where exactly are you-err, going?"
" Fluttershy, I'm going for a fly around Ponyville, and maybe at the corners of Cloudsdale. I'm not leaving the planet", Rainbow said as she started to go towards her front door. "Bye"
"Yes, um, bye...."

Now, the point of patrols are to keep the streets of Cloudsdale, Ponyville, and Canterlot safe from any danger. Patrols usually happen in the night, for in the day, Celestia's guards are patrolling. The Wonderbolts are also meant to be the Princesses' millitary defense.
Soarin spent 2 hours of worthless flying. There was one part of his 'daring rescue' when he saw a vandal (or so he thought) running from a shop with bags full of groceries. It turned out, it was actually somepony's babysitter running out of ingredients for a dessert. How embarrassing for Soarin, when the mare threatened to call the police ponies, if Soarin 'molested' her again.
Now Soarin was back in the skies and decided to search Ponyville for trouble."It's been a while since I went there..."

As two shooting stars passed by Ponyville, a cyan pegasus was hoping her parents would be proud of her."Oh, who am I kidding, of COURSE there're proud of me! I'm the most awesome pony in Ponyvi-ALL of Equestria!" I should've joined the Wonderbolts AGES ago. Those age rules make no difference to the world's most coolest flier-UGH!!" Rainbow stopped in mid-air as she crashed into another pegasus and they started falling. Luckily, there was a cloud underneath and they landed on it, which resulted into them laying down in an awkward position.
"Dash? Is that you? What are you doing here?"
"Was gonna ask you the same thing, Mister."
"Well, err, you see I was going on one of those patrol thingies. I'm pretty sure Spitfire told you about them earlier in the academy. Anyways, your reason?"
"Just finished my daily workouts and decided to go for a fly......" She watched as Soarin started blushing. "What?"
"Um, nothing", he said. Rainbow watched him get off her belly.
"Ohhh....." Soarin could see Rainbow's pink cheeks. "Aaanywaaay..... you wanna go for a fly together or something?"
'Is she joking? YES, I would love to go with this hot mare for a fly!!', Soarin thought.
"Uhhh, helloooo? Equestria to Soarin!! Did you lose your soul or something?!"
"Oh, uh, sorry. Kinda zoned out, and I would LO-I mean like to fly with you."
"Riiggghht, now com'on and move your fat flank!", Rainbow stated as she flew off,
'Yeeeaaa, move my flank next to your's........',Soarin thought dreamily as he flew off towards Rainbow.
As Rainbow and Soarin were flying side by side...
"Hey, err, Dash, you wanna do some tricks or something?"
"Oh, YEA! I'm gonna knock your flank off!", Dash said as she flew higher into the sky.
'Hahaha, yea.......', he thought, as he started blushing madly.
'Ok, Rainbow, just do a trick like a Sonic Rainboom. I'm sure everypony would love to see it as well. And I would DEFINITELY LOVE to see Soar's gobsmacked face when I do it!', Dash thought as she flew even higher. Soarin couldn't see her at all, but when he did, she was coming down at top speed.
'What in Tartarus is she doing?!'
BOOM!!!!
The notice was so loud, Soarin had to cover his ears. As he opened his eyes, he saw a huge ring of color exploding outwards. "Oh. My. Celestia....."
"Haha, you should see the look on your face, Soarin! I could take pictures and send it to the media!!!"
After he was done being 'very impressed', he rushed to Rainbow and hugged her. "That. Was. The. Most. AWESOMEST THING EVER!!!"
"Hey, hey, you've seen it before!"
"Yea.....but WHO CARES! I am the ONLY Wonderbolt, who EVER saw a rainboom THAT close!"
"Hehe, Soar, thanks, anyways, still a shame that I couldn't join the Wonderbolts yet...", she said as she hugged him back.
"It's alright, one day, you WILL get into the team. And THAT'S a promise!"
"I-Thanks. I hate to admit, but I didn't know what I'd do without you Soar....And if you tell ANYONE about this mushy stuff, you'll be flying in the Wonderbolts with a neck brace!"
"Okay, okay, deal then...."
The next few minutes was them hugging. On. A. Cloud. To Soarin, it was like a miracle come true. To Dash, she didn't notice, because of how many things were in her mind: Equestria Games, Flight Lessons for Scootaloo, the Wonderbolt Academy, Twilight's book club that she told-ok, FORCED-Dash to join.....
'Maybe, I should just tell her, now. I mean everything is so perfect, right here, and everything. Eeeep, oh Luna PLEASE help me.......'
"Ummmm.......Soar, you can get off me, now"; Rainbow realized what they were doing.
"Oh.......I-Okay......"
"Oh no."
"What?"
"I promised Fluttershy I would come back after my fly. O man, she would be WORRIED SICK, if I don't get home! Sorry Soar, but I got to go. I'll see you at the academy, so bye!!!!" And with that, she flew of in a hurry.
A few minutes passed and Soarin yelled,"WHAT IS WRONG ME WITH ME! AM I CAUSING BAD LUCK TO HAPPEN?!.........Don't worry Rainbow, I'll tell you soon enough.......Why did you have to ruin it Fluttershy......" Soarin whimpered, as he flew back to Wonderbolt H.Q.

Rainbow bursted into her home, as she saw Fluttershy 'eeeeping' and hanging from the wall frame. "Oh, Rainbow Dash, I was so worried! Why did you take, so long? You had me worried......." Fluttershy looked like she was crying.
"Oh man, I'm so-so-so sorry. My, um, 'little fly' took longer than expected. Everything will be alright now,"
Fluttershy got off the wall and hugged Rainbow. "Never. Do that to me. You-you pinkie p-promise?"
"Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye! I will never leave you hanging Flutters..." Rainbow was never good at being sappy, but she tried her best.
"T-thank you...", Fluttershy said, as she silently cried on Rainbow's chest.

Soarin reached the entrance of the H.Q and entered. Surprise, simply being Surprise, just happened to hop out of nowhere, right in front of him. "Soarin! We were SO-SO-SO worried. Where have you been? Everypony was thinking of making a search party for you. You know who else is good at making parties, my cousin Pinkie Pie! She can throw the BEST parties ever! And since she's good at making parties, I was thinking to bring her along, so, we could have a search party, so we could find you, and-...... Soarin, where did you go? *gasp* He vanished into thin air!I knew it! He really is a unicorn!!! Oh my cheeseburgers, I HAVE to tell the others!"

Soarin passed the gymnasium and decided to go to his room. Unfortunately, the whole team saw him, and they rushed to him.
"You ACTUALLY finished the patrol?!"
"This guy has guts."
"Nice job there, big guy", Fleetfoot complimented.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm going to bed now", Soarin said, as he exited the gym, with his head hanging low.
"I don't need to be physic to know that something's wrong with him", Wave Chill commented.
"Well duh!"
"SURPRISE!! STOP DOING THAT! YOUR'RE GONNA GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!"
"Well, sor-RY Blazy......anyways, guess what? Soarin's a unicorn!"
"EXCUSE ME???"
"Well obviously, he just disappeared into thin air, and I saw him in his room!"
"Oh well, I guess Surprise never heard of FLYING AWAY in her life!"
"Hmmmmm, this calls for some detective work!" Surprise pulled out a detective coat and hat. Spitfire resisted the urge to slap her on the face.

'Maybe I should ask Dashie on a date.....no way. And besides, I don't want her breaking my neck......', Soarin thought, as he shuddered.
He grabbed his plushie of Dashie, and started stroking her mane. "Do YOU know what I can do?" The plushie just simply stared. "I thought so....."
After a few minutes of hardcore thinking(and hugging his plush), Soarin found his answer.
"Maybe, tomorrow, when classes start. I'll tell her at the academy....I'm PRETTY sure this is gonna go just fine....", and thus smiling like an idiot.
A crazy, awkward idea came to Soarin's head. He grabbed a comb and some scrunchies; and with that, he was braiding the plush's mane and tail. 'If only I could this in reality, on the REAL Dashie', Soarin said, as he sighed happily.
