March, 3, XXXX.
Dear Velvet Remedy.
"It was really a tame apocalypse if one thinks about it. Death came rapidly and suddenly yes, but after the Flash point was reached that fire quickly extinguished itself. All the dead were soon replaced by new life just as their grandmother's corpse was starting to stop smoldering. Or the walking corpse of their grandmother came out to greet them, and they'd give her an embrace of lead. It also served as the executor. Every mare or stallion was punished for their crimes by it one way or another. You could say it was blind in it's slaughter as it killed innocents along with traitors and murderers but then again so is justice. Really, it all wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for that one tiny side effect. No, it was not the explosive power, the ability to literally annihilated and even transport ponies to who-know-where. It's something that no longer exists in Equestria any more. At least most of it"
"That damn Necromatic Radiation."
"It got into every fucking thing. Every. Thing. The earth under a ponies feet. A new born filly. A crop that somehow grew by miracle in the dry and tainted earth. All of this had that sinister energy grafted into it's very being. Many many ponies seem to think that it was the cloud cover that prevented crops to grow. For a time, when I was simple minded like them, I believed it. But now I know that is the single most retarded thing I have ever heard in my entire life. It must've been the radiation in the ground. Poisoned our crops, ruined our soil, killed the chance for a family to keep itself sustained. And probably just killed that same family outright while it was at it. Of course if the Apocalypse wasn't so kind enough to provide 200 years worth of salvageable food, this lack of farm land would've been much more catastrophic. There wouldn't be a me or you possibly. Just an empty land full of corpses."
"See? The apocalypse was too kind on us. Somepony upstairs should've got a better pony for the job. Some one who wouldn't flinch when it heard our cries of sorrow and agony. It should've been harsher...Maybe we would appreciate it, our life, all the more."
"So. Let me ask you a question. What could be more poisonous and killer than this foreign energy? Surely if the zebras above all had access to such taboo and evil corruptible powers, ponies must've had a few of their own, homegrown. Because we all know that ponies have always, and forever will be, wretched and evil creatures. It wasn't the radiation that did that. Or maybe it did. Maybe the Gardens just passed over us all since it would've struck us down."
"Well, Velvet, I can say I have seen such things. I watched it from afar, and I did nothing to stop its spread. There was no stopping it anyhow, the only thing that could was itself. You know the first time you started to treat soldier from wars? When you felt like you were just pissing in an ocean. You told me you felt so useless, every life you saved another 3 died overnight and a wagon rolled into camp the next morning to replace all 4 of them and add 5 more. That's exactly how I felt. I felt like I was insignificant. Nothing I did mattered. I fought a war that was too big for me, it nearly killed me 3 times over and it succeeded every time to kill my spirits. But like a blazing fire once it finished it's act, once it consumed all it's fuel, it faded away. In my shame I left the area of the inflicted. I couldn't bare to look upon their faces, even if I came to aid them."
"Now though? Things are different this time. I started to dig into it all and I've found out information that...Well...I don't know what to make of it. I need to see it for myself. Please do not attempt to cross that border, or send anyone else to do it for you. I know your husband seems so intent on doing so, but please don't. He doesn't have the right blood to do it, nor does his troops. I don't want all of them to die for no reason. I figured to quit now since I knew you would fire me once I stopped relaying information back to the Republic. Better to burn out than to fade away. This would prevent a replacement from being sent to die at least..."
"I'm taking Them with me. It's the least I can do. Get Them out of your hair for a while. I'll keep Them out of trouble and sane. Relatively. Don't worry, they can cross safely....there we go! I just gave you an idea for my replacement!~ Not very subtle but a spy is better than no spy."
"Tell Fluttershy it's not her fault when she bursts into tears at the news."
Yours, truly. XXXX
P.S. You remember that one time when your dress had a rip in a certain place after you saw your husband and I assured you that no one noticed? I lied. In fact I was in the crowd pointing it out to a certain few horny Followers that I won't name, but they all start with K's.
P.S.S. I stole that dress. It's really nice once you fix that ass flap.
