//-------------------------------------------------------// My Extra Super-Duper-Triple-Looper Specially Special Somepony -by Life_Worth_Living- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Bestiest Bestest Best Boyfriend Forever //-------------------------------------------------------// Bestiest Bestest Best Boyfriend Forever (A/N: There's kinda just something I wanna go over, just so I don't get a ton of comments on this; Frostburn, Steelmind, and pretty much every OC you'll be seeing in this story are a magical race of ponies known as Trossels. A Trossel is simply a branched-off variant of unicorn that has the power of control various elements like Ice, Water, Thunder, Earth, and so on simultaneously--Frostburn and Steelmind, for example, are a Fire and Ice and Metal and Thought Trossel respectively [hence the names]. They are still capable of magic like normal unicorns, but mostly use their own elemental power. I'll get more into the inner workings of Trossels in a later story, but I just wanted to give a brief explanation so no one gets on me about this.) Frostburn perked up and bolt awake. She'd been waiting for today for a very, very long time, more than anypony else: Hearts and Hooves Day. Most ponies looked forward to Nightmare Night, Hearth's Warming Eve—which was second in Frostburn's mind, though she just enjoyed winter altogether. Frostburn loved Hearts and Hooves Day more than any other day because it was the day that she spent the whole day with her coltfriend. She zipped over to the calendar, checking the date: the thirteenth. "Aww," she moaned. "The date didn't change." Frostburn was a young very pale blue filly with a light dusting of freckles across her face and sparkling bright yellow eyes. Her light red mane had light blue stripes she had done up in pigtails and tied a large pink bow around her red and white tail. Her cutie mark was a torch and an icicle. She trotted to the bed next to hers, watching her twin sister Stonebolt sleeping. Frostburn crept soundlessly back into her room, where her sister was sleeping the bed next to hers. Stonebolt was Frostburn's twin sister, with light tan fur and short yellow and brown hair, her small orange bow sat on her nightstand. Her cutie mark was a stone struck by lightning, but it was covered by her blanket. Both of them, as well as everypony they knew and everypony in town, they had spikes on their hooves. "Stonebolt?" Frostburn asked quietly, nudging her slightly. "Stonebolt, are you awake yet? Are you awake? Stonebolt?" Her sister rolled over, trying to ignore it. "Stone, c'mon; just wake up." "Frosty, what time is it?" Stonebolt asked, refusing to open her eyes. "About nine, I think," Frostburn said with a shrug. "Stonebolt, there's something wrong with the calendar. It still says that it's Wednesday." Stonebolt sighed. "Flip the page, Frosty," she said simply. Frostburn tore off the page with her magic. Frostburn's eyes sparkled excitedly as she squealed excitedly, unable to sit still and jumping in place. "Why are you up so early anyway?" Frostburn turned to her sister and trotted to her bed with a bright smile on her face. "Today's supposed to be a really special day," Frostburn said. "Remember?" Stonebolt used her magic to restyle her mane into its normal shape and clip her bow into her mane. "It's that time of the year again," Stonebolt said excitedly. Frostburn nodded. "Frosty, this is so great! I mean, I figure I'll just have a night-in with Zeph. So, what's on the agenda with you and Steelmind?" Frostburn turned away, giving a small smirk while fighting back her giggling. "It's a secret," Frostburn said coyly. Stonebolt got out of bed, teleporting in front of her before she tried to leave the room. "C'mon Frosty, I'm your sister; your twin sister. You have to tell me, or at least give me a hint." Frostburn shook her head. "I'm not telling," Frostburn said stubbornly, turning her nose up for emphasis. She skipped out of the room. "Well, time to wake up Infernalo." She teleported downstairs and whipped up some breakfast. Their father was an excellent cook, and Frostburn learned everything she could by watching him. It never really bothered him that much, since he usually enjoyed spending time with his twin daughters—especially Frostburn, which tended to become more frequent when Stonebolt started getting more interested in boys and hanging out with her friends. Infernalo slowly opened his eyes, seeing his baby sister staring back at him with a wide smile on her face, but he just tried to close his eyes and go back to sleep. Infernalo and his sisters had been living in their own home for almost a year. Frostburn, much to her older brother's continued annoyance, had always been a very early riser. Infernalo, her older brother, had a very dark grey coat and thick pale yellow streaks through his dark red mane and snow white tail, a pitch black halo floating over his head. His ice blue eyes looked back at her with disgruntlement. Both of them, as opposed to horns or wings, had spikes on the backs of their hooves. His cutie mark was a pitchfork with yellow wings. "Good morning, big brother," Frostburn chirped eagerly. Infernalo groaned. "Frostburn, what have I told you about waking me up so early?" Frostburn cocked her head to the right, which she'd always do when she was confused...which was quite a lot. She started tapping her right hoof on the ground rhythmically, something she did while thinking. "Not to wake you unless I accidentally set something on fire," she recited. Infernalo rolled over, ignoring her. "But it's almost nine o' clock, and I made you breakfast." Frostburn levitated over a plate of pancakes saturated in syrup with BBBFE spelled out in blueberries. "What's BBBFE supposed to mean?" "Bestest big brother forever and ever," Frostburn said happily. "What did you do now?" He asked in his usual deadpan. Noticing Infernalo's reaction, Frostburn's ears dropped to her sides. "You don't like it, do you?" Her eyes started filling with tears. Infernalo rolled out of bed, moving to her side to comfort her. "Frostburn, no," Infernalo said defensively. Frostburn always seemed to find some way to annoy him, but he always felt his big brotherly instinct kick in when he saw her upset...especially when he was responsible, indirectly or otherwise given how sensitive Frostburn was. "It's...it's certainly very sweet." Frostburn perked back up. "What's this for anyway?" "There's always something to celebrate," Frostburn said. Infernalo grumbled and tried a taste. As usual for Frostburn, her cooking was excellent. "Big brother, I have an unrelated question." "You'll ask anyway," Infernalo said. "Do you know when Mommy and Daddy are coming back?" Infernalo choked a bit halfway through his pancakes. This was the first full year that they had been living without their parents, but Infernalo just told Frostburn that they were on vacation. "Well, Frosty," Infernalo said, swallowing to prevent coughing up anything. It was clear he was desperate to change the subject. "It's probably going to be a while before they come back. Why don't you see if your sister is awake and let me get back to sleep?" Frostburn was back to her usual perky self, skipping out of the room. Infernalo muttered something under his breath and continued to eat. ************* Steelmind left his house at exactly nine-fifteen a.m. exactly, like he always did. He had a pale yellow coat and dark brown and purple hair. He pushed his dark blue glasses up the bridge of his nose, though they should've clashed horribly with his dark brown eyes; with Steelmind, however, it seemed to work for him. His cutie mark was a sword caught in a psychic field. Steelmind wasn't actually all that much different for anypony else, especially given that everypony else in town had the same spikes on their hooves. "Zephyroak?" Steelmind asked. As if on cue, the teal pony teleported downstairs, flipping her fluffy mane out of her salmon-colored eyes. Her mane had shades of pale blue, taupe, and salmon, same as her tail; for most ponies here, it was uncommon for a pony's mane and tail to have the same colors. Her cutie mark was a stump floating on a cloud. She scoffed a bit seeing him. "Oh, it's just you, Steel," she said. "I thought you were some cute colt." "Good morning, Zephyroak," Steelmind said coldly, pushing his glasses back up his nose. "I thought it took you till at least eleven to get ready." Zephyroak's eyes narrowed. "It takes time to get this pretty in the morning," Zephyroak snapped. "Besides, this is what gets all the colts turning their heads." Completely out of the blue, Frostburn tackled Steelmind to the ground and locked him into a tight hug. Despite her stature, Frostburn was deceptively strong. "Hi, bestiest bestest best boyfriend in the whole wide world forever and ever," Frostburn said excitedly, squeezing him tightly. "Good morning to you too, Snowflake," Steelmind said, straining. "You're starting to crush me." Frostburn released him, Steelmind taking in air. "Sorry, I guess I got a little excited," she said, blushing. "Frosty," Zephyroak said leaning on the doorframe, "not that I don't enjoy your company, but isn't there a reason you're here?" Frostburn nodded. "Steelmind promised me a whole day of spending time together and showing just how much he loves me," she said excitedly. Steelmind was sweating profusely, leaving a large puddle at his hooves. "Well, Snowflake," Steelmind started. "I—" "I know you'll think of something really, really good, Steelmind. You're so sweet and smart and nice!" She smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling brightly and eagerly. Steelmind nervously swallowed a lump in his throat and nodded hesitantly. "Yay! I can't wait. Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, best boyfriend ever!" She teleported away; Steelmind, however, was strongly shaking. "Steel? You okay?" Zephyroak asked. Steelmind hesitantly turned to her. "I forgot what day it was," he blurted out, quickly grasping his hooves over his mouth before continuing in a hushed tone as if Frostburn was listening. "I didn't actually have anything planned out for today, and Frostburn is going to find out, and then she'll think I'm a bad boyfriend and don't care about her, and then she'll start crying and break up with me and then I'm going to die alone—" Zephyroak telekinetically held his mouth shut. "Are you done?" He nodded. She finally let go, Steelmind taking a few deep breath after his long ramble. "I'm pretty sure that Frosty isn't going to break up with you and think you're a terrible boyfriend. She loves and cares about you more than anypony else, and I'm sure you two wouldn't still be speaking to each other if she was that petty." "Zephyroak, you're a girl," Steelmind reasoned. "Can't you give me some ideas? What are you doing today?" "Listen, Steelmind, you've been my best friend for, like, forever. I'd really love to help, but Stone and I are having a night in. Just do what you'd normally do with Frostburn." She shut the door in his face, leaving Steelmind to walk and think on his own. Frostburn excitedly skipped down the street happily passing by all the happy couples before seeing Steelmind with a bouquet of roses. She teleported to him, instead of tackling him like she was known to do. "Sn-Snowflake, I b-b-brought some r-roses," Steelmind said hesitantly, presenting her with the flowers. He flinched slightly as she took them. "Steelmind, you did remember!" She said. "So, what else do you have planned for today?" Steelmind gulped and scanned his surroundings, seeing a large red sign. Frostburn followed his gaze, and her eyes lit up. "The Hearts and Hooves Day film fest! How exciting and romantic! Is that where we're going?" Steelmind decided to run with it, if only to buy himself some extra time. "Of course, Snowflake," he said, "just not yet. We've got a whole day planned ahead of us." Frostburn wrapped him in a tight hug, forgetting that she was still holding the roses. "Thorns! Thorns! Thorns!" She quickly released. "I'm so sorry, Steelmind," she said. "I'm so, so sorry. Are you okay?" Steelmind nodded. "So what do you have planned anyway?" Steelmind realized he hadn't actually stalled for as long as he'd hoped. "How about we just...go for a walk in the park?" He suggested. Frostburn nodded and skipped behind him. They passed by the scattered couples sitting in the park, some on picnics, others just sitting on benches and talking, and some just walking like they were. Steelmind did feel a bit less cheap, though Frostburn didn't seem to mind anyway. Once they reached the top of a hill, Steelmind stopped. "Frosty," Steelmind said finally. Frostburn turned to him, sitting down next to him. "What's wrong, Steel?" She asked. He'd been calling her by her pet name ever since their first date. Actually, this wasn't too far from their first date, which Frostburn found very thoughtful of him. "I kinda understand if just walking around a park isn't exactly very romantic or exciting." Frostburn scooted close to him and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm just happy to spending time with you. It's actually kinda nice to look around and all the other happy couples and just talk. I was expecting something bigger, but I still think this is very sweet." She nuzzled up to him, Steelmind blushing. Frostburn heard a low grumbling noise, giggling. "Well, I guess I forgot to make breakfast for myself. Have anything in mind for lunch?" Steelmind instinctively nodded. ************* Stonebolt lay curled up on Zephyroak's couch, wrapped up tightly in a bright blue blanket with pale green zigzags. Zephyroak only kept the gauche blanket because it was made by her grandmother, and it was really warm. She just put in another movie and returned to the couch. "C'mon, Stone," Zephyroak said. "Quit hogging all the blanket." Stonebolt and Zephyroak spread the blanket amongst both of them just as the movie started. Stonebolt used her magic to move the popcorn bowl off the nearby table. "Don't you usually just flirt with guys and try to catch breakups on the rebound?" Stonebolt asked. Her teal friend shrugged. "I figured that we could just forget about boys for today, and just have a girls' night. Y'know, with your sister out on a date, and my brother just out with some of his stupid friends." "Is he seeing anypony?" Stonebolt asked, hiding her blush in her mane. Zephyroak rolled her eyes, eating more of the popcorn. "Stone, he's my brother!" "He's also really cute," Stonebolt argued. "I've had a huge crush on him for, like, as long as we've been best friends." Zephyroak groaned. "Well, I know he's not seeing anypony. He does talk about you with his friends." Stonebolt's eyes lit up. "Really?" "It's mostly just talking about who's hotter, y'know boy stuff. He does kinda seem to like you, though." Stonebolt gave a small smile, taking her own hoof full of popcorn. "So, do you actually think you're eventually gonna find somepony?" Stonebolt asked. Zephyroak shrugged. "I'm not really looking; I'm just more interested in small victories, actually." ************* Frostburn and Steelmind sat opposite each other at a small table. Steelmind had picked out the restaurant that they'd first went to. While they waited, Steelmind listened to Frostburn's stories. Although Steelmind was initially just stalling and running with any ideas he could come up with, Frostburn did seem to be having fun anyway. "Steelmind," Frostburn finally said just as their food was delivered. "I kinda realized that I never gave you a cute pet name like you did for me." "Oh?" He asked, starting to dig into his wheat grass. Frostburn nodded. "Ooh, how about...? No, that doesn't work. Oh, I got it! What do you think about...? No, that's even worse." "It's not really that important to me," he said. Frostburn shrugged, digging into her meal. "Snowflake, I kinda feel like I need to tell you...something." Frostburn tilted her head to one side. "I...I didn't...I didn't have any plans for today. I completely forgot it was Hearts and Hooves Day today, and I thought if I admitted I had absolutely no plans for today you'd think I was a terrible boyfriend." Frostburn's ears flicked back, and Steelmind knew he'd said the wrong thing. I knew I should've just kept my mouth shut, Steelmind thought. Now Frostburn hates me and she'll never want to talk to me... Frostburn gave a small smile, earning a confused expression. "Steel, why would you think that?" she asked. "I don't think you're a bad boyfriend. I love you, and just spending this whole day with you as been really sweet. Not a lot of ponies would spend the whole day with me." "Snowflake, you're the sweetest, kindest, funniest, most beautiful pony I've ever known, and you deserve nothing less than somepony who's willing to care about you, listen to you, and show you all the love and respect you deserve." Frostburn leaned over and kissed Steelmind on the lips. It wasn't her usual childish way of kissing either; it was a lot like how two ponies would kiss in movies. Frostburn felt Steelmind's tongue enter her mouth in a rare and remarkable sign of assertiveness. Steelmind had never been more passionate or romantic, as she felt a very warm blush overtake her. When he finally broke the kiss, Frostburn's face was bright scarlet. "S-Steel, that...was..." Frostburn said, struggling to find the words. "I love you." She kissed him, this time her tongue was in his mouth, though their kiss didn't last as long. "You're the best boyfriend ever," she said sweetly. Steelmind smiled. "You're the best girlfriend ever," Steelmind said. He cleared his throat and the two simply went back to their meals. "So, do you...umm...want to go to that Hearts and Hooves Day film festival thing?" She smiled and nodded. "I kinda wanted to," she said, restyling her mane and adjusting her barrettes. The two left a small pile of bits on the table and left. "I just wanted to thank you, Steelmind." "What? Lunch? It's no problem, really." Frostburn shook her head. "Making this the best Hearts and Hooves Day ever," she said, holding his hoof. Steelmind smiled. "I really don't think I need some stupid day to treat you special," Steelmind said. Frostburn kissed him on the lips, not as passionate as before but it still felt like heaven to him. The two walked off to the Hearts and Hooves Day film festival.
