That is Me and You

Today was the day he got his cutie mark.

Not many knew that.

He was twenty six, and it's been twenty years since he has had the little sign on his butt telling everypony what kind of pony he was.

Cheese decided, that he would go to Ponyville. Since it was his twentieth anniversary of his cutie mark, he would go to the place where he would receive it. It only seemed special, right?

Carrying Boneless on his back, he looked into the sunset and sighed.

Remembering that day so clearly.

He remembered him trotting, there were bubbles and balloons everywhere.

Little foals around the place screaming happily in joy.

He never knew why.

Screaming wasn't necessary.

Of course, he was a shy foal back then.

But he was looking around, there was food everywhere, streamers. Everything seemed so happy, so in place.

"Hi there!" a pink pony with messy curls popped up, out of nowhere.

Cheese jumped.

"Sorry!" the pink filly said, "I didn't mean to scare you!"

Cheese nodded, looking at the floor, unable to look at her in the eye.

"I'm Pinkie Pie! I haven't seen you around here before, what's your name?" smiled Pinkie Pie.

Cheese didn't answer.

"Well.. you seem very quiet. I have a friend like that, her name is Fluttershy. Very shy, I tell you." Pinkie said.

He continued not to talk.

"Do you want to see me juggle rubber chickens?" Pinkie said, flashing a tooth.

Cheese tilted his head, interested, only a little bit.

Pinkie got three rubber chickens from a box and started juggling.

'"Three cheers for three rubber chickens to the pony with the afro!" she grinned cheekily and stood on her hind hooves, juggling with her other two hooves.

Everypony around him had gathered around and threw him up into the air and cheered, three times.

He felt happy.

Everyone else was happy.

He liked being happy.

On the third throw, Cheese grinned so widely he was sure no one else could be more happy than him in that moment in time.

When he was back on the floor he was smiling happily.

"So.." Pinkie said, looking at him grinning, "I never did get your name."

He took a deep breath in and put his hoof out, preparing for his first hoofshake.

"Cheese. Cheese Sandwich!" he grinned.

"Cheese Sandwich!" she exclaimed, "That explains your cutie mark!"

"Cutie mark?" Cheese turned his head to look at his flank, which now wore his cutie mark. A slice of toast torn into two with melted cheese inside.

He opened his mouth, "I didn't have a cutie mark before." he said, telling her honestly.

"Really?" her eyes widening. "You know what, since this is a very special day for you, I'm going to give you something to remember it by. See anything you like?"

He bit his lip and looked around for things that seemed interested in.

His eyes landed on the rubber chickens that she juggled and he pointed it, "That." he said showing his teeth.

"You can have all three of them!" the pink party pony exclaimed, "Boneless." she said, "That's his name."

"Thank you, Pinkie."

-

Ponyville.

He was going back to the place that made him overcome his fears.

His Cheesy sense tingled and he felt himself vibrate all over his body.

He grinned.

It was a sign.

He knew it.

His cheesy sense told him so.

He was going to meet the pony of his destiny, face to face again.

In Ponyville.

He walked towards the sunset as he mumbled to Boneless.

This was going to be a doozie.

-

When he entered Ponyville, he heard multiple voices.

"There goes the super party pony, Pinkie Pie!~"

His eyes widened. Pinkie Pie. The name he was looking for.

Super party pony.

He wanted to prove to her he could be a super party pony as well.

As good as her.

When the ponies finished singing about Pinkie Pie, and he introduced himself as a super duper party pony.

He wanted to impress her.

To be as good as her in partying.

So he lied. He lied about his childhood.

He did it.

He got all of Ponyville to love him.

He looked for a certain pink pony.

He couldn't find her.

Cheese bit his lip but continued smiling to talk about Rainbow Dash's party.

He told them about what he was planning for her birthaversery.

It had to be big.

It had to be the biggest party he had to throw.

Just so that he could impress her.

He sighed, surveying an ice sculpture of Dash's cutie mark.

"Freeze, Cheese."

He almost fell off, laughing at the rhyme.

She appeared out of nowhere, again, like always.

He looked at her.

Her blue eyes striking him with a death glare.

Wait.. death glare?

What?

Why..?

Was he sure he was giving him the death glare?

Maybe it wasn't a death glare?

Maybe she wasn't even pointing it at him.

Wait, but she did say 'Cheese'.

Since when did he make Pinkie mad?

"I challenge you.. TO A GOOF OFF!"

A goof off?

Cheese was nervous.

For the first time.

Nobody ever was able to mach up to his randomness.

But..

Pinkie.

They had started.

The battle of the goofs.

All the while, he was hurting.

He didn't like fighting her.

He wanted to plan parties with her.

That's why he came to Ponyville.

"Cause I like to make you smile smile smile, yes I do." he said, copying her lyrics.

"That's my song!"

He internally cringed, "I have no idea what you're talking about!" he said.

Really, he knew that she was the element of laughter and one of the most important ponies in Equestria.

Of course he knew her most popular song.

She was pretty much a popstar throughout Equestria without even knowing it, without doing it on purpose.

"That's it!" she screamed, sounding angry.

He cringed. What made her so.. uptight?

He thought she was happy. The most happiest pony in Equestria.

"Roll out, the party cannon, when you hear the party cannon song, KABOOM!"

He didn't want to fight her.

But he continued.

He wanted to prove he was a good party pony.

That he could plan parties as good as her.

A giant pinata loomed over Dash during the goof off.

She sung angrily in Spanish.

And the pinata crushed Dash.

Pinkie gasped and paused, backing a few steps.

He didn't think he'd seen her more hurt.

"I forfeit." she said.

"Cheese.. wins."

Cheese laughed halfheartedly.

Questioned himself.

He didn't think he would win.

She was leaving.

Leaving because of him.

He didn't want to make her leave.

"I never meant to take your place." He said.

And breathed in, about to tell her his story and bit the inside of his cheeks to stop a blush.

"For the one that threw that party it was you Pinkie Pie."

He smiled and bit the inside of his mouth.

She exclaimed.

She was happy.

He was happy.

They were both happy.

Now they could throw Dash's party together.

He decided, that when he was going to leave, he would give her back Boneless.

The Boneless he's been with for so long.

"Don't worry, I have one more."

The reason he gave her Boneless, even he did not know why.

"Cheese, wait."

Cheese stopped in his tracks.

Pinkie stood there, holding a piece of paper in her hands.

Cheese,

Today, you showed me what it was like to have fun with somepony that was like me.

Not a lot of ponies can catch up to my hyperactivity, and I'm really happy that I finally found someone that could.

Thank you for teaching me a lesson that I won't forget.

Today, I learnt that sometimes I have to give up my own happiness sometimes, for the sake of other ponies happiness.

That aside, I had a lot of fun today and I will take care of your rubber chicken friend.

~ Pinkie

Cheese looked up to the pink pony, who was digging her hooves into the ground nervously.

"Pinkie?"

Pinkie looked up.

"Thank you."

He said.

"No, Cheese. Thank you."

She smiled and hugged him.

"Oh.. and.."

Her cheeks flushed.

He looked at her curiously.

A long silence took place.

Pinkie took a deep breath in.

Then she did it.

She stole his first kiss.

Albeit, being a quick peck.

She did steal it.

With his eyes widened, and his thoughts everywhere, he looked back at the pink pony who bounced off back to Ponyville happily.

He smiled and put his hat back on.

As he walked off into the sunset, to an unknown destination, his thoughts drifted off to a certain pink party planner.

He had a feeling that wouldn't be the last time he would see her.
