Chapters Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rarity trotted over to Sweet Apple Acres, where she was certain to find the uncouth Earth pony bucking the trees and doing her daily chores. "Hello, Granny Smith!" Rarity called out from the small wooden gates that had a banner that had said "Welcome to Sweet Apple Acres" with an apple embroidered onto it.
"Hello! I'm guessin' ya'll want ta' see yer friend Applejack!" Granny Smith yelled back from the farmhouse porch, she was sitting on a wooden rocking chair eating a Golden Delicious apple.
"Yes I would. Where is she?" The Unicorn asked the old Earth pony, who was still sitting in wooden rocking chair.
"She's jus' inside cookin' breakfast for Apple Bloom 'n Big Macintosh." Granny Smith shouted, pointing her hoof towards the farmhouse.
"Thank you ever so much, Granny Smith." Rarity smiled, then began to trot too the red farmhouse.
It was a muddy walk, she had to walk around a few trees, but it was all worth it when she got there.
"I hate to intrude, but Applejack darling, I am in need of some advice." Rarity called out to the orange Earth pony as she entered the farmhouse.
Applejack got up from her seat, she had already finished making pancakes for her sister and brother.
"Heya Rarity, Whatcha need, Sugarcube?" Applejack smiled.
"Well, you see, I went over to Twilight's this morning because I was getting a tid bit bored with my daily chores. And she told me that you might have some advice that might lift my spirits, as it where." Rarity asked the farm pony, hoping for a positive response.
Applejack put a hoof to her own head, thinking of a response.
Applejack smiled, she finally thought of a response, and said "Ya'll could try somethin' new for'a change, and see if you're happier makin' dresses."
"What could I possibly do, Applejack?" Rarity asked, Applejack pointed a hoof to the south orchard, gesturing.
"No! You cannot think I, Rarity, would be interested in any sort of muddy chore." Rarity protested, being as over dramatic as usual.
Applejack sighed. "Fine, it was just a suggestion. Why dontcha go ask Fluttershy if she is needin' any help with her animals."
"Thank you very much Applejack for your effort!" Rarity shouted to the Earth pony as she left the farmhouse.
Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rarity knocked politely on the cottage door, Fluttershy came to the door, and smiled. "Hello Rarity, it's nice to see that you stopped by. What brings you here? Does Opal need her monthly grooming again?" Fluttershy's voice was weak and timid, "I just got back from Applejack's, and she told me that taking care of critters would be a nice break from being a seamstress." Rarity said, trying her best to smile. "Oh, that's wonderful. I could use some help with my animal friends, they are a handful sometimes." Fluttershy gestured for Rarity to come inside of the small cottage.
Fluttershy pointed a hoof to a small squirrel that was sitting on the green sofa in the corner of the room, "You could help me groom Mister Squirrel, if that's okay with you," Rarity made a comb appear with her magic, and trotted over to the sofa Mister Squirrel was sitting on.
She tried brush the squirrels fur, but it ran away before she could. "Now, Mister Squirrel, you don't run away from our friends." Fluttershy nudged the hiding squirrel, who was sitting under the couch curled up in a tiny ball. He crossed his arms in protest, Rarity sighed "I guess I just am not fit too take care of animals after all." Rarity began to walk out the door in defeat. "Wait! Rarity, maybe you should go get help from Rainbow Dash. I heard she was at Sugarcube Corner today to pick up some cupcakes for the get together Applejack is having at her barn tonight. You could go see her, I bet she is still on her way there now." Fluttershy smiled.
"That is a wonderful idea, thank you ever so much for your help Fluttershy." Rarity trotted out of the door, towards Sugarcube Corner.
Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rainbow Dash saw a white blur headed towards her as she walked into Sugarcube Corner, guessing that it was only a illusion, she continued to walk inside the bakery shop. "Rainbow Dash, darling!" She heard a voice come from behind her, this time she looked behind her and saw Rarity galloping into the bakery shop. "Darling," Rarity said, taking a moment to catch her breathe. "I am terribly sorry, I am just absolutely exhausted. I have been running around the town all day long, with no break." Rarity said, panting.
"Ugh, what did you get yourself into this time?" Rainbow Dash asked, ringing the bell on the counter to call up Ms. Cake, or Mr cake, maybe even Pinkie Pie. You never know what that pony has up her sleeve, in this case, her mane. Literally.
"Well, you see, first I went to Twilight's house to tell her about my sudden boredem with my job at the Boutique, and she said maybe I have the wrong Cutie Mark, or to be more realistic, a mid life crises, so she told me to go ask Applejack for advice--" Rainbow Dash interrupted, "Oh! You talked to Applejack? What'd she say? Did she say anything about the get together later today?" Rainbow Dash seemed overly eager to find out about what Applejack had said to her. Rarity put a hoof to her forehead, "No, she indeed did not say anything about the get together. She did tell me too try out animal sitting for awhile, and Celestia, was that a major dud." Rarity sighed, not amused at her own speech. "So then I came here for your advice on this whole situation." Rarity smiled awkwardly, awaiting her friend's response.
"Well, I don't think it's very logical that you have the wrong Cutie Mark." Rainbow Dash stated, pointing at Rarity's flank. "Your Cutie Mark fits your personality and special talent to a 'T', and I honestly can't see it being anything else." Rarity opened her mouth to respond, but Rainbow Dash continued before she could, she was not done yet. "It's better not to worry about it, sometimes I get bored with flying, sometimes AJ gets bored with bucking, sometimes Twilight gets bored of.. Actually, I don't think Twilight would ever get tierd of reading. Pinkie Pie sometimes looses doubt in her party planning skills, like she did last week when that Cheese Sandwich dude came to town." Rainbow Dash was making a valid point.. "Point is, we all loose interest in the things we do best at sometimes. But it always comes back. You just have to wait." Rainbow Dash was finally finished and allowed Rarity a chance to speak.
"Oh Rainbow Dash, you have really made things better for me. Thank you so much!" Rarity hugged her Pegasus friend, "Now, I must get ready for the get together at Sweet Apple Acres. I am running out of time to sew up a new outfit for the special occasion!" Rarity said, rushing out of the door.
Rainbow Dash sighed, "That escalated quickly."
Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rarity galloped to her house so she could prepare the cups and plates Applejack had asked her to bring to the get together later tonight. 'Later Tonight' was starting to turn into an hour from now, that left her very little time to get ready on time.
On her way to the Boutique, she ran into Twilight; Who was levitating a plate of Spike's famous chocolate chip cookies.
"Oh, hello Twilight dear, where are you headed?" Rarity asked the fellow Unicorn.
Twilight smiled, "Just on my way to the get together at Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack asked Spike to make his delicious chocolate chip cookies for the party." Twilight said, eating an extra cookie from the plate in front of her. "What did she ask you to bring?" Twilight asked.
"The cups and plates. I was on my way to pick them up at the Carousel Boutique."
"Just don't forget them this time." Twilight teased the Unicorn, laughing.
"I certainly hope I won't. Now, I must be going or I won't have enough time to get dressed." Rarity said, waving bye to her friend.
"See you at the party!" Twilight Sparkle said as she waved back to Rarity.
Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash each held a pen in their mouths with their journal in front of them.
"I will go first." Rarity said, using her magic to levitate the book to her reading level.
Rarity began to write down "Dear Diary,
today I learned that sometimes, the things you do in life will seem dull and pointless, but if you never give up, and go to your friends for Advice, Help, and Encouragement, anything is possible.
- Rarity "
"Me n' Dashie will combine our journal entry int'a one." Applejack said, looking at the Pegasus.
Applejack and Rainbow Dash both took turns writing part of the entry down.
"**RD : Dear Princess Celestia Diary,
**AJ : Today me and Dashie found out something wonderful, and that wonderful thing that we found out is
**RD : That Rainbow Dash is an awesome kisserThat we should never doubt our friends, and never worry about them not liking us for
**AJ : Who we are.
- Applejack and Rainbow Dash "
Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Rarity smiled at each other, Applejack pulled all three of them into a warm friendly hug.
The End
Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rarity levitated the first dress to her newest line for Hoity Toity to the dress rack, sighing.
"Well, Opalescence, another dress done. I don't think I can sew anything more, my hoofs hurt so much that I think I could press the sewing peddle in my sleep!" Rarity said, only half-joking.
"Now, let's see what's next our to do list, shall we?" She said, levitating a note book with pictures drawn on it with boxes beside each drawing.
Some would say Twilight and Rarity where very similar due to both of their obsession compulsive disorder, Also known as, love of organization. But, Rarity wouldn't dare go as far as destroying all of town just to send a Friendship Letter to the Princess.
She looked at the to-do-list, suddenly a look of annoyance approached Rarity's face.
"Make dresses. Make more dresses." She said, no obvious emotion stood in those words, though it was obvious by the look on her face that she was more stressed than when she offered to make dresses for the Gala.
She sighed, giving in. "Opal," "hand me the thread, fabric, and sewing needles."
Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rarity stitched together two pieces of fabric, one was golden, one was white.
She embroidered stars onto the back of the dress, and stitched the leather together of the two golden boots -- Alike the ones she had made Applejack for the gala -- onto the mannequin. "There. Finally finished." Rarity sighed, placing the dress on the rack with the other one she had made earlier. "You know Opal, this dress making thing is getting quiet boring. Maybe I should try something new for a change?" Opal pushed the thread on her sewing table to the ground in protest. "You are right, Opalescence! I should try something new, something to keep life alive." Opalescence slammed her paw into her forehead, facepawing.
Rarity trotted too Golden Oaks Library, she would go to Sweet Apple Acres first since it was closer to her house, but it was far to risky if it would be possible to get covered in mud.
Twilight heard a knock on the door, she put down her book she was reading and trotted over to answer it, "Oh hello Rarity, I was just reading the new book I got today, it's all about cutie marks! Did you know that it was possible for a pony to get the wrong cutie mark?" Rarity put a hoof to Twilight's mouth, "Twilight. This is serious. I have a big problem."
They both walked in to the library, and sat down at the table together.
"What seems to be the problem? Did Pinkie Pie rob you again?" Twilight asked the white unicorn who sat across from her at the table.
"Huh? No, she didn't rob me again. I am a tid bit bored with my daily requirements as owner of the Carousel Boutique."
Twilight looked confused, "Usually a pony never gets bored with their special gift,"
"Yes, I know. I have never been bored like this before with sewing dresses and such. Maybe.."
Twilight interrupted. "Maybe you have the wrong Cutie Mark!" The purple unicorn shouted enthusiastically.
"Come again, darling?" Rarity asked, confused at what her friend had just said.
"The book I was reading earlier today called "A Guide to Cutie Marks" said in chapter number 34 that it is possible for a pony to have gotten the wrong Cutie Mark!" Twilight said, smiling like a little filly.
"Twilight.. Do you really believe that I may have gotten the wrong Cutie Mark?" Rarity asked, frowning slightly.
The purple Unicorn saw the sadness and fear invading her friends face, "Well, maybe. It's not likely -- You are a wonderful dress maker, Rarity. You probably just are having a mid life crises. You know, maybe you should go see Applejack, She knows how to give advice and such to a pony." Twilight smiled, and patted a hoof on her friends back for comfort.
"Thank you oh so much Twilight, you really are a wonderful friend" Rarity said, closing the door to the library as she made her way out.
Find Something to Keep Life Alive
Rarity trotted over to Sweet Apple Acres, "Oh, I can finally just socialize with my friends with nothing stopping me!" Rarity said as she made her way down to the barn, relieved.
She opened the door to the barn, "Hello everypony! I am here, all in one piece." Rarity said, happy to see her friends.
She walked in to say hello to all of her friends, and while she was doing so she caught glimpse of two ponies -- Nuzzling.
"Snooping a little never hurt a pony." Rarity mumbled to herself as she walked closer to see who the two ponies where,
There she saw Applejack and Rainbow Dash nuzzling each other. "Aww.." Rarity said, as she backed away slowly to let the two ponies have their privacy. Rainbow Dash's eye caught sight of Rarity as she walked away, and Rainbow Dash quickly broke the nuzzle, confusing Applejack. "What was that for?" Applejack asked, slightly hurt.
"I caught Rarity snooping on us!" Rainbow Dash protested, blushing slightly.
"She ain't snoopin' on us Rainbow, she jus' accidentally walked in on us. You were gon' tell the rest'a the girls later tonight anyway," Applejack lightly nuzzled her marefriend. "And this ain't exactly a private party." Applejack finished, smiling and looking into Rainbow Dash's Moderate Cerise eyes.
"If you say so.. I guess I'll not kick her flank, this time!" Rainbow Dash smirked.
Applejack handed a cup of cider to each of her 6 friends, subtly nuzzling Rainbow Dash, giving her the 'green light'.
Rainbow Dash took in a deep breathe, "Everypony, I have an announcement, actually, me and Applejack have an announcement.."
Each of the six ponies looked eager to find out what the two ponies were hiding, "You see.." Rainbow Dash said, but a certain Pink pony interrupted her. "You and Applejack fell in love after the race at Whitetail woods and have been dating ever since and totally are in super mushy love with each other!" Pinkie Pie smiled, "Am I right?" She asked.
Twilight looked up at them from her newest book labeled "Cutie Marks", "Applejack and Rainbow Dash are dating?" She asked, curios.
Applejack blushed slightly, then shook her head.
"Well it was kind of obvious! The four of us found out months ago, we just didn't want to say anything." Twilight said, smiling.
"Ya'll are such good friends." Applejack said, nuzzling each of them.
Rainbow Dash held up her cider mug, then shouted "Cheers!", the five other ponies did the same.
"Maybe this day wasn't as stressful as I thought." Rarity smiled.
