Say It Ain't Sue!
Epilogue
Previous ChapterIt had been one week since the pink Alicorn's arrival. She now stood at Ponyville train station, the mane six and the Cutie Mark Crusaders with her. Because she had no cutie mark, the CMC had made her an honorary member. First light took the time to embrace each of the ponies that had become her friends. She understood that ponies aren't your friends when you decide they are, you have to make bonds, and take the time to let the friendship form. They may not have been best friends, but at least they didn't hate each other.
“So, where are you going to go now?” Twilight asked First Light.
“Anywhere.” First Light shrugged. “I need to find out what I'm meant to do, so I'm going to try as many things as I can.”
“I can't say it'll keep me up at night.” Rainbow Dash shook her head. “But I will miss you.”
“I'll miss all of you.” First Light smiled. “I know I was a jerk when I got here, a real Mary Sue, but you guys showed me what life was all about, and I'm going to do something big with mine. I don't know what it is yet, but I'll figure something out.”
“Just remember, you'll always have a home in Ponyville, Best Pony.” Applejack grinned.
“Please.” First Light cringed at the mention of her old name. “Please don't call me that anymore.”
“Sorry.” Applejack blushed. “I couldn't resist.”
“Will you send letters back?” Apple Bloom made a sad-puppy look at First Light.
“I promise I'll send you letters back.” First Light smiled, patting the filly on the head. “Every time I do something new or exciting, I'll send you three fillies a letter all about it.”
“Maybe you'll get your cutie mark in adventuring!” Sweetie Belle bounced. “Like an action hero or something!”
“Maybe.” First Light smiled down at her little friend.
Just then, the train whistle blew, calling everypony on the platform with a ticket to the train. First Light looked at her friends and slid a wide brimmed fedora onto her head before turning to the locomotive. When she was inside, she found a window seat on the side of the train nearest to the platform. She sat down and opened the window as the train began to roll away from the station. All of her new friends waved at her as she moved away from them.
“You know you're all my very best friends!” First Light shouted back at the platform, laughing at the statement. She didn't know why it was funny, but in the back of her mind, it meant something, like an inside joke even she didn't get.
As the mane six and the Cutie Mark Crusaders became little specks on the horizon, First Light put her window back up and relaxed in her seat. She lay her hat on the seat next to her and closed her eyes to get a little rest. When she had bought her ticket, she had not asked where the train was going, asking the porter to surprise her. She paid for her ticket without reading it, only reading the identifier of the train station, which meant absolutely nothing to her.
First Light may not have known where she was going, but she knew that wherever it was, she knew she would find something incredible.
“One day...” Murmured First Light as she slowly descended into la-la land. “I may even get my cutie mark...”
