“They’ve broken through the defenses!” The shout came from the front. “Fall back! FALL BACK!”

Orion saw several of the soldiers ahead of them turn and run, but some stayed back, frozen in fear, unable to move. Screams and frantic cries for help soon filled the air as Equestria’s army fell apart, soldiers pushing and trampling each other in their desperate attempt to escape.

She heard Felix whimper at her side. “Celestia, Luna, save us.” He pleaded, tears rolling down his face. “Oh please, no… I don’t want to die!

Orion’s heart clenched as the sudden realization hit her. She looked around, eyes wide with terror. Half of her squadron had fled, unfortunately, others like her had not; Smoke, Rain, Zirconic and some others still stood on the soon to be slaughter grounds.

Run! All of you, run! She thought, but before the words could escape her mouth, she saw them.

They had cleared the crest of the hill; their horrifying howls cutting through her like daggers.

There it was, the end.

Orion breathed in sharply. “We’re dead…”
