"Come on Icewhip! We need to get in the cellar, the rain's worst in these parts!" I, Coalshine yelled.

"You think I don't know that!" She yelled back, black and purple mane whipping in the wind "But all the same it is my duty as an earth magic user to make sure that the harvest is safe, we can't let an entire year go to waste! The village will starve!"

"And it will stay starved unless you get your stubborn tail in here" I said with a grunt of frustration. Because why, of all the ponies this side of Equestria, was he stuck in a stupid chocolate rain storm with a pony as hard headed and brash as Icewhip! To me this seems like a really sick joke played on him by the elders, one diluted one in particular. Always trying to fix ponies up with others, which is none of his biusness! That thought brought a deep grimace to my face.

"Alright I'm coming." She said. FINALY!

As we finally got into the cellar she shook herself off like a dog. Getting me all soaking wet. I gave her an icy glare.

"And I thaought that I was supposed to be the icy one!" She remarked while chuckling. "Cozy." She added shrugging her wings and sitting down.

"Not exactly the word I'd use for it." I said looking around, it was basically an extra large under ground pantry, wooden shelves stocked with canned foods basic tools sat along the selves, where as water tanks sat on the floor.

"Soooooooooo" she started "how'd 'ya get your cutie mark?" Icewhip asked pointing a slender, pale blue hoof at my flank. The cutie mark in question depicted a four leaf clover going up in flames.

"Well, I guess it couldn't hurt to say, we might as well try to pass the time with stories." I replied sitting across from her "Actually my cutie mark isn't of my special talent, but my destiny."

"And what does a burning symbol of luck have to do with destiny."she asked flatly

"Well that's the thing, it isn't burning, it's perfectly preserved behind the flames. All my life, even the day I was born, I was a good luck charm. But soon after the fortunate happenstance came an even greater misfortune. Such as the time of my birth. I was born in a coal mine, and the moment I was born a gigantic vein of diamond was found, enough to feed the town for 8 years.

"What's so bad about that?" Icewhip remarked

"Well if you hadn't interrupted me I would've gotten to that part already." I said huffily

"Fine, I'm  sorry." I was so shocked that I couldn't speak.

"Really!?" It was just so shocking.

"No. now get on with the story! On with the bad part!" She so excitedly said.

That made more sense, but why she was so excited about a horrid accident was beyond me. "Okay so like I was saying, as soon as I was born, not only did they find diamonds in the mine, but...
