Morning for the Musicians

Equestria’s sky was painted a beautiful shade of orange, one only someone as busy as Octavia would be up early enough to see. She slid the door to the patio open and stepped outside. Octavia inhaled the sweet pine air that drifted from the luscious green forests behind her house, being careful to appreciate every moment of peace she had left today. Soon her phone will ring and she’ll be out and about, playing for various clients, organizing record sales, and meeting with perhaps the most irritatingly sweet pony in all of Equestria. She sipped her coffee carefully while her mind drifted to said pony. Vinyl Scratch had good intentions, tried to be nice and quiet, but she was quite annoying. Octavia had just shut her door when the phone began to ring. She let out a brief sigh, drank the last of her coffee, and was out the door with her cello in tail.

Vinyl’s alarm had been ringing for about thirty minutes when the buzzing made its way past the blast of her headphones. Scratch removed her headphones and slid on her signature purple shades. Her red eyes, seeping to the iris with explosive youth, peered over the top of her glasses toward the alarm clock. She summoned her glowing magic and turned the alarm off. Scratch rubbed her eyes and finally looked at the time. Eleven thirty two a.m.

“Horseshoes!” She exclaimed. She was meeting with Octavia to discuss a cross-genre album they would do together. Vinyl wasn’t eager to be working with the pretentious orchestrator, but she did enjoy spending time with her, even if it was just to mess around.  She sighed and ran a hoof through her blue mane. She reluctantly climbed out of bed and grabbed a double mocha energy coffee. She gulped it down heartily and grabbed her laptop. She threw a few CD’s in her pack and staggered out the door, the energy drink still working its way through her system.

“TAAAAAAAVIII!” Vinyl yelled. She was tearing down the hallway towards the brown mare, who was now bracing herself for the impact of Scratch’s embrace. The two met with a forceful collision, knocking Vinyl’s glasses out of place.

“Vinyl Scratch how… pleasant it is too see you.” The mare spoke, recollecting herself.

“I know, right?” Vinyl continued “I have so been looking forward to seeing you.”

The two looked away from each other, their true feelings showing on both their faces- spite. The two of them were night and day, but now they’re being forced into a studio with each other for eight hours.
