It had many windows and balconies that it looked like a house. This tree is a house to two residents, one purple alicorn and one baby dragon. But the tree wasn’t just a house, Sure it made look like one on the outside, but on the inside it is also a library. The place was called, the Golden Oaks Library. The residents of the place were inside doing a fair share of chores. Inside the great big oak tree, a young baby dragon was stacking up books and re organizing the book shelves for the books to be placed. He became so focused on this task that if anypony interrupted him, and  broke his concentration for one tiny second, he would have to start all over reorganizing the bookshelf again. And pray to Celestia he didn’t want to reorganize a whole bunch of shelves again in his life span. Almost there. Just a little bit more and I-- The drake thought to himself as he was close to putting away the last book when the door to the library opened. Ding! A bell chimed, echoing through the entire loft area, as the baby drake dropped the last book on the ground. He got on his knees and screamed, “Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!” He looked down at the book he dropped, as he knew he will have to reshelve the entire library again. He knew that his friend would order him to do so, so he took the initiative and took down all the books again. But before the darke began reshelving he looked to see who had entered the library before it was opened. He notice a familiar snow white unicorn with a curled indigo mane and tail, her sapphire blue eyes shimmered in the sunlight, long black fake eyelashes were placed on her real ones, and she wore blue eye shadow just above her eyes. The drake knew her has his one time crush, Rarity. Well she used to be his crush till he started to focus on other matters, so he said to her, “Hello Rarity. What brings you by here?” The white unicorn looked at the drake, she smiled at him, and replied, “Hello Spikey boo. I’m here for you today.” Spike looked at her, trying to figure out her meaning behind her words. Then it hit him like rock, as he had forgotten. I’m supposed to go gem collecting with Rarity today. Just me and her... alone... together. Spike thought to himself as began to feel nervous. He did like Rarity as a friend, since he found out she’s been dating the Wonderbolt, Soarin for a whole month now. Ever since he found out about it, he fell into a long depression, as he knew his chances of dating her were out of reach. So he tries to keep his mind focused on tasks and chores his friends want him to do. “Umm I need to go talk to Twilight for a sec, okay Rarity.” Spike said as he began walking backwards towards another room. “Sure. Just don’t take too long.” Rarity said, smiling at the drake. As soon as Spike entered the other room, Rarity smiling turned into a sad frown. "Just don't take too long." Rarity repeated, as tears began to drop from her eyes. ================================================ With that said, Spike walked into the dining room of the library. His heart was bumping really fast as he took a few deep breaths. I told Rarity we should be just friends, and if she needed any help, I would be there too help her. So why am I getting nervous just being around her? He thought to himself as he had no idea why he was nervous of Rarity. He just wanted to be her friend and nothing more after he saw her with Soarin. “Spi...Spike….Spike!!!!” A lavender alicorn shouted, trying to get the drake’s attention. “Huuh? What?” Spike replied, as he snapped out of his trance. “You spaced out. You okay?” The lavender pony said, her voice full of concern for the drake. “I’m fine Twilight. Just lost in my thoughts you know.” Spike said, rubbing the back of his head with a palm of his claw. “Okay. Just don’t scare me like that again.” Twilight said to him, letting a out a relieve sigh. “Sure thing Twi.” The drake said, beaming up a smile at the alicorn. An awkward silence had began to set between the alicorn and the drake as the tried to come up with a conversation. “So who came into the library?” Twilight asked, breaking the awkward silence. “Um Rarity.” Spike replied, pointing at the door behind him. “So she needs you to go out gem hunting with her again right?” Twilight asked, already knowing the answer. “Yes she does. But I could just tell her that I’m busy today and go with her tomorrow or something.” Spike said, looking down at the ground. Twilight never saw this part of Spike before. He usually likes to go gem hunting with Rarity. But he seems so different, and not interested in doing something that could bring him closer to his crush. What has happened to you Spike? Twilight thought to herself, as she looked at her assistant again. Just before she could say something, both of them heard faint sobbing noises coming from the foyer of the library. Twilight walked towards the door leading into the foyer and peeked her head out. She saw her friend Rarity with her head down looking at the floor, a few tears leaking from her eyes, her make up spreading, and leaking downward onto the floor below. She was quietly sobbing, so no pony would hear her. Twilight slightly closed the door silently, then looked towards her assistant again. That's when an idea had popped into her head, and a small mischievous smile spread onto her face. She walked towards her assistant and said, “Spike, I want you to go gem hunting with Rarity today. I’ll reshelve the book shelf while you two are out and about.” Spike became confused by Twilight’s behavior. Just before he could ask her, he was magically floating off of the ground and was moving towards the door to the foyer of the library. ================================================= Just as the drake entered the other room, Rarity lips quivered and started to turn her frown back into a smile. She felt a bit bitter on the inside when the drake didn't ask her about how he could help her. It’s just as I thought. He has moved on. Did I push things too far? Did I make moves he wasn't comfortable with? If that’s the case then it must be a sign. So maybe I should move on as well. Either that or I’m in my heat cycle. Curse you Soarin. Curse you for leaving me! Curse you for leaving me, just so you can see Blueblood. The alabaster unicorn thought to herself as a few tears escaped her eyes. Just as she thought she was alone to sob and cry her eyes out, Spike had returned and saw the tears running down her face. “Rarity are you okay?” The drake asked, entering the foyer once again. He was feeling a bit hurt and sad since he saw his friend, Rarity crying about something. “Hmm, oh Spike I didn't see you there. How long were you standing there?” Rarity asked the drake, avoiding his question. “I just came out of the kitchen a few seconds ago. Twilight said I could go gem hunting with you.” Spike replied, lifting a foot off the ground and kicking the air around his other foot. “I see. Well then, let’s get going shall we. Don’t want to be standing in here all day, while the diamond dogs are away.” Rarity said, putting up a fake broad smile, one that would fool a stallion. “Okay then.” Spike said, as he walked towards her. He hung his head low, as he dared not to look Rarity, the same way he did when he had a crush on her. The both of them walked out of the library, and out onto the streets of Ponyville. Everything was covered in pink, red, and white hearts, and everypony was looking for their special someponies. For Spike and Rarity this was going to be the longest week for the both of them. Because in exactly one week, it will be Hearts and Hooves Day.
