Do you believe in Magic?

(Inspired by Room for Rent by Drax99)

Both worlds stood still for a moment when the news that Princess Twilight Sparkle had been admitted to a human hospital for emergency care.  Her friends, which had traveled to this world with her, arrived to be by her bedside.  Official news of what had occurred is still unknown at this time.

What is known, what has been displayed for us to know, is that magic does indeed seem to be real.  A force of unknown power was released by a man some twenty miles outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The Princess had arrived in the state a few days prior, and she informed the members of the co-existence council that she felt a draw to go there.

The two events seem to be linked, but no official news on the subject has been released by the United States Government or by the Equestian Royal Family.  We ask that all viewers please keep their thoughts with the Princess as she attempts to recover.

She read over the news report several times before causing it to float back over to the official sitting across from her.  A tight frown placed on her muzzle she studied him.

“The report is acceptable,” she said.

“Your highness, we do extend our apologies,” he began before she raised a hoof.

“I am not interested in your apologies.  I am interested in what you plan to do with Mr. Timothy Greaves,” she said.

“Madam, I understand that one of the royal family has been injured in this…” he started before she slammed her hooves down on the table.

“She was not injured she was raped!  He violated her body, mind, and I can only imagine what he may have done to her soul.  Chairman Nitoman, I am often a well-spoken pony.  I typically do not over use my clout with my own subjects, nor have I attempted to do the same here, but what a member of your world has done to one of mine demands justice,” she said.

“I can understand this your highness, and we plan to prosecute him to the fullest limits of our laws,” he said.

“And what does your laws say about rape?” she asked.

“It’s a jail sentence of no more than one hundred – seventeen months in a federal penitentiary,” he answered.

“They are not locked away for all time?  You release criminals who would violate another so viciously back into the world?!” she asked astonished.

“Madam, every attempt at rehabilitation prisoners is made while they are in the penitentiary.  I promise you that he will have doctors and psychiatric help while there,” he replied.

She shook her head and took a seat across from him.  Her eyes closed and she faced the table.

“You lock away prisoners who have violated someone, hurt them, done unspeakable things to those who could not defend themselves, and then you release them back into the world.  However, you do this while trying to fix what was wrong with them.  Tell me Chairman, how has your success rate been?” she asked.

“Actually it’s been quite good.  Those sentenced to prison, and released, typically do not rape again.  The more violent serial rapists are often given life sentences, but as we can see Mr. Greaves doesn’t qualify in that regard.  This is his first known offense, but to answer your question, perhaps five percent resume their activities,” he answered.

Her eyes bulged at this information.  She studied his face trying to see if perhaps he was trying to make some ill-conceived notion of a joke, but he wasn’t.  Shaking her head she stood and faced him.

“I cannot understand why that number is acceptable to you!  Do you not care what about your own people?!” she asked shocked at the revelation of what he said.

“Of course we care, but while rape is a terrible offense it’s something we feel can be treated,” he replied.

“I demand Mr. Timothy Greaves be released to the Equesterian Royal Family.  Trust me, Our acceptable percentage toward this kind of behavior is far better than five percent,” she said as she turned and left.

He waited until she was out of ear shot before rubbing his forehead.  This placed a large kink in the plan of trying to study Greaves.  Until that little snot proved that magic actually existed there was no need to worry about these ‘ponies’ crossing over, but now that they knew the power of magic did flow through their world it only made things worse.

“Please stop…  Why are you doing this?  Why?” Twilight called out in her sleep.

“Twilight darling?” Rarity asked.

The purple alicorn moaned in her sleep.  She tossed and turned trying to fight an invisible attacker.

“I’ve seen this before.  She’s going to be having a lot of nightmares for a long time about that son of a bitch,” a nurse said as she stepped closer.

Rarity turned toward the human who checked Twilight’s vitals.

“This is a common occurrence in your world?” she asked.

“Common is about as close to the world as you can get to.  It happens, a lot, and it’s never pretty.  The poor girls often get a lot of psychological problems because of it.  There was one poor girl that slit her wrists while she was in here.  She couldn’t take it.  The thought that what happened to her and her family being disappointed was just too much for her I guess.  We worked hard to save her, but she had been smart enough to do it while we were between shifts,” the nurse said.

“Do… do they ever recover?” Rarity asked.

“Not completely.  Not to the point of really being themselves,” the nurse replied as she touched Twilight’s head, “I hope that they do the worst they can to that bastard.  No one deserves this.”

Rarity felt herself feeling the same thing.

(Tulsa County Correctional Facility)

It had taken the guards and the warden three different times of relocating Timothy Greaves before they realized that they needed to restrict his hands and restrict his ability to speak.  He sat in a cell looking at them.  One of the guards shivered and continued past the cell he was in.

“Open Cell seventeen,” a guard shouted.

The guard that just passed Greaves looked back at the cell and then above it.  The pained number seventeen hung over it like a bad omen.  He quickly made the cross of contrition and began saying a short prayer.  He walked to the cell and looked toward the sound of the voice.

“Ready!” he shouted.

A mechanical lock sounded and the cell moved open.  The guard walked in and reached down to Timothy Greaves.

“Come on, someone wants to see you,” he said.

The walk toward the cafeteria was a long one.  The guard felt his entire body screaming for him to turn and run the other way, but instead he continued to walk until he entered the room where one of the alien beings stood waiting.  He swallowed slightly and lead the prisoner to a table.  He placed his hands on Timothy’s shoulders and forced him to sit down.

“Why is he unable to speak?” the being asked.

“Ma’am, we’ve found that if his ability to speak and move his hands are unrestricted he can ummm...  make things happen.  We have to do this in order to keep him from hurting anyone,” the guard said.

“Very well,” she said as she studied him, “I am quite sure you know who I am.”

Timothy nodded.

“And I am certain you know what I am trying to do,” she said.

Again he nodded.

“Know this.  If I am allowed to take you with me to Equestria whatever torment you’ve received here, in this place, will seem like a paradise.  I will make it my personal project to ensure that you spend whatever left time you have left in as much pain as you have inflicted upon my former student,” she said.

“Hey princess,” a new voice said.

She looked at Greaves as he cocked his head at her.

“I might not be able to say a spell, or use my magic corrected without my hands, but I can still talk to you.  She begged me you know.  She begged me to stop.  I went in, and I took her most precious memories of how to control her magic and stole them from her.  It’s something that requires the right amount of energy, and sex, well there’s all kinds of energy in sex.  Let’s say that your little princess has a very tight ass,” the voice said.

Her eyes narrowed at him.

“So take me with you.  Take me to magic pony land.  I promise you that I will find a way of escaping and maybe I’ll do the same to your dear sister Luna.  Of course there’s also Cadence, and that’s just the royals.  Let’s not forget about the hundreds and thousands of other little ponies you have running around,” the voice said.

“A lifetime of pain,” she said as she turned and walked away.

“Yes that’s right Princess, I will give you a lifetime of pain,” the voice said.

He watched as she disappeared.

“I was talking about you.  I will show you the true meaning of pain,” her voice said from within his head.

(Saint Frances Hospital – Tulsa – six hours later)

Doctors and Nurses ran themselves ragged as they tried to find alternate rooms for some of their patents.  Of course they had fought the decision to relocate anyone, but when the order came from the Federal Government itself there was little more they could do.  It seemed a request from the Equestrian Royal Family to the Federal Government about giving their Princess the space she needed for privacy and allowing some of their own physicians to attend to her out ruled even the director.  Finally it was decided that Chief Medical Doctor Townson would be allowed to stay on as an observer, and as a secondary physician to the Princess.

He looked as one of the aliens, wearing a white lab coat, trotted toward him.  The ‘pony’ something he was still getting used to, took a seat on the stool and picked up a medical chart.

“I see you tested her already,” the ‘pony’ said.

“We’ve ran the basic rape test, and we also went ahead and gathered together the D.N.A. samples.  It’s more than enough to convict him.  Especially with how they found him,” the doctor said.

“You know about that?” the pony asked.

“Dr… What is your name?” Dr. Townson asked.

“Dr. Brownfoal, Dr. T. Brownfoal, now since you know my name how about you answer my question?” Dr. Brownfoal asked.

“I had to know about it.  One of the emergency teams that arrived to help had a member of my staff riding along in the ambulance.  It’s something I’m trying to move into standard procedure.  Having a doctor riding along in case there is an emergency the Paramedics aren’t prepared for.  My staff member is lucky enough to be trained in psychology.  She helped calm your princess, and the police told her everything.  What’s even worse is that fact that when that… light show went off everything digital went dead,” Dr. Townson said rubbing his forehead, “We lost sixty people who have pacemakers, there was dozens of car crashes, and I’m only thankful there wasn’t any planes trying to land at the airport.”

“You said it stopped all technology?” Dr. Brownfoal asked.

“Anything digital .  Some of the guys that drive the older cars still was able to keep going, but everything just died.  It’s like they fried out or something,” Dr. Townson replied.

Dr. Brownfoal took note of that and then both of them looked toward the room when the sound of frantic movement was heard.  They both ran toward it and looked in to see Princess Twilight in the bed, trying desperately to get out.

“Do you have a female nurse or doctor with you?” Dr. Townson asked.

“I thought of that already.  I’ve asked Nurse Redheart to accompany me,” Dr. Brownfoal said looking behind him.  A sigh of relief escaped his muzzle, “Nurse Redheart, we need you to go in and help attend to the Princess.”

The white Pony nodded and walked into the room.  Slowly Twilight began to calm down and the both of them calmed down.

“I suppose that someone should tell Princess Celestia that Princess Twilight is awake now,” Dr. Brownfoal said.

“I’ll do it,” Dr. Townson said.

He got up and walked toward the door leading into the waiting room.  Much like the rest of the hall the waiting room had emptied for the visitors of Twilight.  He walked inside and cleared his throat.  Several faces looked up at him, but off in a corner, sitting between two smaller beings, was a regal looking pony.  She looked toward him a questioning look on her face.

“She’s awake now,” he said.

He lead her toward the room and stopped short.  She turned toward him.

“With what she’s been through I’m not certain seeing another male of my species is going to do her much good,” Dr. Townson said.

“That is very considerate of you,” she replied.

“It’s not being considerate.  It’s being decent.  I have no intention of putting her through anymore torture than what she has already faced,” he said.

She nodded and walked into the room.  Her student looked toward her.  She could see her desperately trying to get loose, to run away from here, and she gently stepped up to her gently touching her.

“I am so very sorry this has happened to you Twilight,” she began.

“Princess Celestia…” she said as tears began to form in her eyes.

She walked up to Twilight and looked at her former student.  The young Alicorn looked away in shame.  A gentle hoof touched her muzzle slowly pulling her back to look her mentor in the face.

“This is not your fault,” Princess Celestia said.

She closed her eyes and swallowed.

“He reached out to me.  I heard him… calling to me.  He was barely able to use his magic, but I was so excited.  A human, a human of this world with the ability to use magic.  We could teach them so much, and I wanted to teach him.  When I got there…  I wanted to leave, but he wouldn’t let me…  I shouldn’t have went.  I should have known better,” she said through tears.

“Twilight, you had no idea that any of them were like this.  I promise you that I will do everything in my power to help you, but you must understand that what he did was not your fault.  You did not ask for this, and he is a bully and a coward,” Princess Celestia said.
